Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Wreck Do you know anyone else whose child did it too? because if I ran a childs activity like that I'd tell all the parents their child had a natural aptitude for it.

ChristmasSeacow · 29/07/2018 15:06

I think I’ve overordered for my stripes but I’m secretly hoping I have so I can make something for DD with the leftovers. My mum will be Shock when that lot arrives at hers!

What’s the cardi pattern? Not that I should look...

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2018 15:54

Sainsburys Tu 25% off is meant to start August 14th. I need more around the house stuff. I refuse to pay loads for clothes to clean/cook/ get covered in cat hair in.

Cagliostro · 29/07/2018 17:08

I have finally caught up. Relying on crap phone and 3g and keep losing posts.

Enjoying the cleaning chat, does anyone know what is best to clean a wooden floor? It's the cheap stuff and it's painted white but scuffed in places.

We have a sponge mop thingy with a bucket but what do I put in the bucket? Fairy liquid? I am such a noob 😳😂

Lazy day here still gradually unpacking and tidying and getting used to the place. It's getting to the stage where we really need to do the second furniture order.

Also I really need to get meal planning sorted as we have been popping to asda far too much! On the other hand I'm getting better at not wasting stuff. It's amazing how having a less cluttered kitchen makes it easier to decide what to eat, I've been very good at using stuff up.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 29/07/2018 17:13

Cag I use fairy liquid, but now I'm not sure.

I know a lot of people use flash, but I thought that was mainly for the smell, which I don't like anyway.

The thing I find with wood floor is that it gets kind of gritty if it's not cleaned often enough. Sometimes I use a sponge mop, but mostly I woose out and use a little robot called an iRobot Braava. It was only £100 and does all the work for me, which I think is pretty excellent.

I'm deeply confused about cleaning now. I may have to go and live in the garden, where I hear all the bacteria are as innocent as the day is long.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2018 17:40

I'd use all purpose/multipurpose and wring the mop out well, laminate can lift if it's wet for long periods.

LonelyOversharer · 29/07/2018 17:45

Well our day out was only partly successful! The train was ace, they all enjoyed it. Walk in the mizzle to the museum. Which was great for about an hour. The second hour was hot and airless, and we all got a bit fractious. By the time our booked in time for the main attraction (which we didn't need to book in for of course) came, we were done for. So we left and walked into town. Through a very dodgy bit of the city. Could not find anywhere to grab an ice cream or cold drink, half of us had tantrums (both adults included), there were tears, and macdonalds icecreams. The train back was good fun. Ffs. 6/10.

Pluses: picnic, free entry to museum, no expensive cafe (as we could not find one).

Home and the chicken is on. Will watch the grand prix once ds has decompressed by a bit of time on the ps4. When did I become such a country bumpkin?? I used to take dd1 to Newcastle weekly. Knew where all the cool places were. Today it was like I had stepped off my quiet world into something manic.

Was hoping to take the dc down to London at some point, but I'm not at all sure we could cope with that!

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 29/07/2018 17:49

Well done Lonely. That sounds pretty heroic to me.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/07/2018 17:56

I use a string mop for all my floors- sometimes flash, sometimes other all purpose floor cleaner

Lonely sounds like a reasonably successful day out with 6 people Grin

We I froze contents of our fridge before going on holiday, myself & dc are having a kind of use up what's there kind of day food wise. H of course couldn't do it & went to shop to purchase bread for his lunch tomo, there were 3 diff types in fridge, just they weren't regular sliced pan ffs Hmm

So far I've had poached eggs & bacon on toast, tuna with hummus on sourdough with lentil chips for lunch and dinner might be bacon medallions/sausages with pasta or breaded cod or ham & cheese toastie

Currently doing online food shop for delivery tomorrow

Orangecake123 · 29/07/2018 18:16

Food shop for this week so far has only been £10.29- but only because I avoided the chocolate, crisp, pizza and the biscuit aisles.

My mother gave me £100 and my grandmother £90.

Ho hum I have to pay my rent this week.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/07/2018 18:24

Food shop done for delivery tomorrow morning €150 using €13 off code.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/07/2018 18:42

Did you see the bike thing lonely. We watched the stunt BMX near monument.
£23 train £1 parking £40 lunch, £28 build a Bear but the DC owe me. No suit as sizes not right.
Baked a pie and cake.
And over fine it so feeling ropey

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/07/2018 18:48

Thanks fluff, I will be poised for school uniform
Wreck it is great he can bike and has the aptitude.
Em sounds fab and a very productive afternoon.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2018 18:52

Scandi Welcome. Everyones welcome here.

LonelyOversharer · 29/07/2018 18:54

We did see some of it life but our wheels were kinda falling off by then!!

WreckTangled · 29/07/2018 19:13

Fluffy we had never met any of the other people there before the guy running it and his wife were both surprised at how good he is. He was better than all of the other (older) dc ie didn't fall off at all (only one), lifting his bum when going over bumps, holding his arms in the correct position and putting his foot down when having a wobble going round a corner.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2018 19:17

It's the cynic in me Wreck. Makes me cynical about other peoples motives.

It will cost you a small fortune Grin

Orangecake123 · 29/07/2018 19:18

Hiiii Scandi!

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/07/2018 19:21

Soap and water will be fine in a wooden floor. Just be careful not to over week as fluff said.

Which museum lonely?

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 29/07/2018 19:22

Wreck That's terrific. You must be proud as punch. It's always very clear when a kid has a natural aptitude for something. I see it in Beavers all the time. I'm quite sure you could see it with your lad on his bike too. High five for your ds.

Hi all the new people I haven't said hi to.

SnugglySnerd · 29/07/2018 19:38

Just checking in. Been reading throughout the weekend but haven't had time to post.

Lovely weekend though despite of the awful weather. Last night dh and I had a bottle of wine with homemade bread, roasted garlic, baked camembert and olives. It felt like we were proper grown ups again. We even little candles bit still ate in our pjs.

Those morning he dcs slept until 6.30 (thank you clouds!!). Pancakes for breakfast then dh amused the dcs while I had a good clear out and deep clean in our bedroom.

Bought a new frying pan this afternoon as ours has really had it. Too the dcs out for a walk and DD had a whale of a time jumping in puddles. They've started to play together quite a lot now which had made things a bit easier.

All this talk of knitting makes me wish I was better at it. I quite like knitting but I am so slow. I never finish anything.

Annoying about your deposit Cag.

Sunny I hope you feel better soon.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 29/07/2018 19:47

I'm a slow knitter too Snuggly. I've tried lots of times, but I'm not sure I'm really cut out for it tbh.

That's great that your kids are playing together now.
