lonely it sounds bad to say I’m not that bothered if Ds gets it or not doesn’t it? I’m not anxious about it. As you say he’s already been exposed and will get it at some point most likely. Is it better for him to have it now he’s so young? Who knows.

I had it when I was 6. Apparently I sailed through it.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/07/2018 22:25

Welcome back laska boycat had diabetes so let me know of you want any advice, I think generally dry food is more carby than wet though...

em dd had chicken pox when she was 1yo and was pickled but otherwise not too bad with it, I think the younger they are when they get it the better the symptoms.

I miss need as well 😢

CremeEggThief · 18/07/2018 22:58

Great news about your DP and his new job, Love.

Welcome back, Laska. Glad you had a good time.

I know a handful of people who have unfortunately had chicken pox twice. Apparently there are 4 or 5 different strains of it. IIRC, the incubation period is up to 21 days too, Em.

Spends: £12.90 in Costa. Treated a friend to coffee and cake and I had 2 coffees and a panini.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/07/2018 05:46

Attempted to pack for dc last night, turns out dd has outgrown all except two of her dresses, even those that fit a month ago! Only one dress is suitable for holidays so must take her shopping!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/07/2018 06:37

Well done love dh

Still feeling shocking. Traveled to Sheffield yesterday £5.50 on lunch. I can't claim it as didn't get a receipt but it was lush

ememem84 · 19/07/2018 06:49

21 days?! Wow. That’s ages....

Well. If it happens it happens. Not much I can do about it really. Downside of Nursery I suppose.

Today I’m getting my nails done at lunchtime. Yay. Then gym after work.

I was watching something on tv last night (Channel 4 show about living well with that Kate woman who wears some questionable outfits...) and it had a bit about stopping drinking. I’ve said to dh I’m doing this. Or am going to try to. No booze until our apartment sells. Lawyer thinks mid August.

I don’t drink huge amounts. But have been drinking more frequently. And it’s not helping me sleep. The meds I’m on are not helping me sleep either. Not sleeping was one reason I went to the gp in the first place.... she said average is 8 weeks for sleep to start regulating itself. We’re on week 4.

So anything I can do on top is going to help. So I’ve done 3 days. Let’s see how far I can go. I should stress I’m not a bottle of wine a night person. More a glass here and a gin there. And just onenglass at present seems to be enough to disrupt my sleep.

WreckTangled · 19/07/2018 07:01

Ive had chicken pox twice. Also if you get it before a year old you're more likely to get it again.

Ds was up at 5:40 this morning Angry my dc are so grumpy in the morning he was shouting and stomping about. Luckily dh got up with him because I wasn't going to Grin

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/07/2018 07:07

Em they pick it up anyhow, dd had it when ds was a little baby, but he'd immunity from breastfeeding so he escaped until last Christmas.
Fluffy I feel so sorry for 17 year old you, no calamine lotion, why? Don't answer if it drags up old hurts Sad

Packing with ds was a pleasure- how long are we going for? 7 days, ok 7 tshirts, 7 shorts, 7 underpants, 7 pjs(intervened at this point as he was packing fluffy winter pjs!) and a hoody and a smart shirt Grin is that ok mammy? 👌

H didn't even offer to help Angry

Laska5772 · 19/07/2018 07:09

lonely great news on the job, what are you doing?

and also love and love Dh... that sounds great also

Girlie more tests for DPusscat tomorrow.. fingers crossed .. someone on MN pointed me to the royal vet college research project on cats with diabetes .. which has also been helpful.. how old was your boycat when he got it ? he is now about 14 (was a rescue ans up to very recently has been in fine health.. already a fewdays of the new diet (ruddy Applaws ££!) and he is looking like he has regained a little weight.
em Its easy to let it creep up. I stopped drinking for January Feb and again for May/ June ( exception made on holiday of course, when i had wine every day ). both for diet and because I realised i was using it to medicate stress for a while ( 2 Saturdays of mega hangover in a row made me realise what I was doing , which was unloading to DH who is away all week and drinking more than I should and too fast on a Friday evening ) .. but I really havent found it difficult (ice water with lemon is good) and do sleep better . Have gone back on no alcohol straight back after holiday as I'd really like to lose another stone yet.. (Dh does still have a drink ,but he is much better at moderation than I am !)

Laska5772 · 19/07/2018 07:16

Mammy are you all going on holiday (Dh also?) .

'Cabin Cough' has turned into a full blown cold with streamy nose Sad.. (I blame easyjet)..

unescorted some of the people I know in our area of your workplace have moved about a lot.. Have changes affected you?

cag hope the move goes well..

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/07/2018 07:29

Yes laska it was booked paid for & non refundable so it was either he go, I go or both of us go. It'll either be a complete disaster or it'll give the dc memories of a last holiday together before their lives change ConfusedHmm

I'm apprehensive to say the least.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/07/2018 07:32

How was new mattress lonely

CurlsandCurves · 19/07/2018 07:35

Morning,

Hi @Lasksa, welcome home. Shame about the nasty cold tho.

@ememem it took till DS1 was 6 before he got chickenpox, despite being in nursery almost full time. He just never seemed to pick it up. Good on you for the not drinking. I ought to do the same with my holiday only 4 weeks away.

Aiming for a NSD today. Going to a weights class and Zumba this morning. DS1 gets back from his school trip tonight about 10pm.

Laska5772 · 19/07/2018 07:36

mammy So difficult but I really hope it goes as well as it can and he can at least behave pleasantly for everyone's sake Flowers.

ememem84 · 19/07/2018 07:55

I hope holiday goes well mammy xx

Dm thinks I should keep ds off of Nursery “just in case”. No idea how she think I’ll be able to work and have him home....she hasn’t offered to take him and we’d still be paying. For Nursery. Aah. Also he’s already been exposed so it’s a game of will he won’t he now. Anyway. It’s making me a bit anxious....

laksa it has crept up on me. Wine here gin there beer here.... just one maybe not excessive but one every day...? Not good. So. Bring it on. No booze until apartment sells. Given it may be mid August. Or later than it could be ages!

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2018 08:17

I woke up on my 41st birthday unable to drink alcohol.

I have realised our 200l a day water consumption is coming from my showers so I've gone back to turning the shower off unless I'm getting started or rinsing off.

20 mins x 8l/m is 160l at least.

Bornlazy · 19/07/2018 10:29

LSD yesterday. £100 Tesco delivery for today and will need to go to Lidl for a few things as well... bloody summer holidays are so expensive even at home.

Fluffy why can’t you drink alcohol anymore?

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/07/2018 11:14

I didn't drink for 3 months last year, as I hated missing running the following day. Then I went to my Christmas party and decided prior to it that a wedding on 5th Jan would be my last day in 2018 drinking until Christmas party 2018. It's a choice I've made as an adult, there's a strong drinking culture among young adults now everywhere - what's wrong with you, or you're pregnant are the general questions!

I had hoped it would help with weight loss(it didn't Sad), it's definitely much cheaper and it helps that I've a clear head so I don't get a loose tongue and tell anyone more than I want to about my current situation too. I absolutely love having the car outside the door to go home whenever I want to and not being dependent on others or a bus going halfway around the country either.

I was envious of someone having a cider with her meal one sunny evening a few weeks ago so two weeks ago I had a Ritz with my dinner, first drink, 6 months to the day of last one. It sloshed around my tummy and messed with my head for about 6/7 hours so I've decided I might not bother again!

ememem84 · 19/07/2018 11:42

That’s it mammy I know if I just don’t drink the rumours will start again. Sigh. Why does there always have to be something “wrong” with you if you don’t drink?!

I’ve got dads birthday on Friday, we’re having a pub tea. But I can have a nice blackcurrent and lemonade (yay!) and drink with my friend next Wednesday. And a works night out (just pizza and al fresco movie) on 8 August. Can avoid drinking then.

To be fair though if I just don’t drink at home that’ll be a start.

NSD.

Born It makes me feel awful now. Groggy, unsettled. I wake at 4am with heartburn type pain without fail. It's just not worth it now.
