fluffy my dear I am ashamed to say I have not yet emailed Ikea about that delivery failure. I HATE doing stuff like this. Any tips on what I should say please? 💐

SnugglySnerd · 17/07/2018 19:40

NSD! Avoided treats and went to the library instead. The dts thoroughly enjoyed pulling books off the shelves. I was less happy about having to put them all back. DD wants to do the summer reading challenge even though she can't read! I'm pleased she wants to do it though. I'll read and she can draw her favourite bits to show the librarian and collect her stickers. We also went to the park and luckily left before the after school ice cream van arrived.

Sammy I have a mid week delivery pass for Tesco which I use for our main shop then I do a weekend top up in Aldi. Usually just things like fruit and milk. We usually spend about £80 in total inc nappies, cleaning products and toiletries. I don't think that's too bad for 5 people and a cat!

WreckTangled · 17/07/2018 19:46

Cag something along the lines of:

Dear dipshits,

I am currently in the process of moving house. I placed a large order with Ikea to be delivered to our new house on X date and my husband arranged time off from work and we sought childcare for our three children. (I have multiple health issues and would be unable to get to the new house and accept the delivery on my own).

The delivery date was confirmed via text message the day before it was due (was it?) however on the morning of he delivery we received the following message "xxx". This has caused us a lot of inconvenience and stress, we have been unable to arrange the new house as we need it as we have yet to receive the storage items that we ordered.

We have received no apology or explanation for this delay and I am left wondering if we will even get it at all. I would grateful if you could look into this for me as a matter of urgency.

Yours sincerely,

Cag.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2018 19:57

Dear mr CEO,

On x date we purchased x items from your website to be delivered on xxx date suggested by your website. All items were in stock according to your website.

We did this as we do not own a car.

My husband took the morning off work to recieve the delivery whereupon it was cancelled by xxx.

A new delivery date has been arranged but I do not feel we have recieved a satisfactory standard of service. We had Ordered as soon as we had a moving date because as working parents with a baby we wanted time to assemble the furniture & now we are very close to moving & this window of opportunity has been lost.

Kind regards
Mrs Cag.

Or something like that.

Do not answer your mobile to any unknown/withheld numbers, make them email you so you have it in writing.

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/07/2018 20:06

"I am very disappointed with the customer service received so far" cag

I like to lay it on when I complain Wink

LonelyOversharer · 17/07/2018 20:08

Both those letters are ace, I'd hybrid them cag and email it asap.

Inside the factory has just started on bbc2...coffee, mmm. I shall put up with Gregg Smugface. I am through the withdrawl headaches and down to about 4 cups a day (from probably 10).

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2018 20:12

That organic milk on clicksnap is only £1.25 in store, 95p cashback makes it 30p for 4 pints. Two redemptions per account. I will have to make sure I have space in my freezer.

I got £1.95 off green jinn earlier. Paid to the account I'm shutting next week 🤦🏻‍♀️

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/07/2018 20:18

DP is in a very grumpy mood as he cannot find any of his qualification certificates 🤦‍♀️

We are going to have to have a big clear out over the summer to find the his missing stuff

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/07/2018 20:43

Don't need sympathy just need to let you know I might not be about much.
Off the plan too Mammy.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/07/2018 21:58

You need a rose wrong it's the garden law 😉 I've just been out trying to tame a Budjela that's gone a bit rogue! I bought a beautiful tea rose from Poundstretchers for £1.98 so you don't need to bankrupt yourself 😆

CurlsandCurves · 17/07/2018 21:59

@cag you’ve got some great ideas with those letters, go get em!

Spendy day today. DS1 is off to London on a trip tomorrow. Staying overnight and returning Thursday night so I’ve got £60 spending money for him. Mostly to cover lunch tomorrow and lunch and dinner Thursday.

My faulty washing machine is being replaced tomorrow.

Had an engineer out to the Sky box yesterday. He replaced loads of bits and checked everything over. Turns out we were not aware of the buttons on the top of the box. We used the DVD player on top of it (a rare occurrence) and there is a little bump on the base of the DVD player which appears to be the cause of the channels changing!

As a bonus we got a WiFi box so we can now use lots of other stuff like catchup.

SnugglySnerd · 17/07/2018 22:07

My lupin seems to have been eaten by something Sad. The budjela went out of control and us now dying from the bottom up. Our water butt was empty weeks ago, we've had about 5 mins of light rain in the past 6 weeks and we are on a water meter. Am keeping the beans, tomatoes and herbs going since we can eat them but everything else is struggling.

Cagliostro · 17/07/2018 22:15

Thanks for all the ideas! I shall write it in the morning. Rather late but heyho clearly I have been delayed due to the stress it all caused (tongue in cheek, but also not!)

Loads of packing done today. DH has been completely amazing. I’ve been useless, well apart from babywrangling all day. It is really hard not being able to put her down but there’s just too much stuff everywhere and she wants to crawl and climb (and now go up the damn stairs). But anyway there are now lots more packed boxes under the stairs and the bin bag count outside is around 13. Plus more bits for the tip.

If nothing else this is quite a frugal exercise in a way. It is hideously shocking how much money we’ve wasted over the years, seeing the evidence literally pile up outside is strengthening my resolve never to make those mistakes again. We do need a lot of stuff for the new house and some clothing too, but apart from a few absolute essentials like a laundry basket, I am planning to keep a running list and not just rush straight out to buy stuff like I used to.

QuiteCleanBandit · 17/07/2018 22:27

I was just about to post that anti slug wool will be needed for Lupins and Delphiniums
Snuggly they scoff them overnight the bastards
The wool stuff is great -non toxic and sheepy and the only thing that has worked.
Egg shells -they sprinted across Hmm
It has saved my Hostas in pots this year and retains the moisture .
About £5 for a bag lasts ages .

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/07/2018 22:37

Lupins are past their best now anyway snuggly and my budjela looks like that as well, I think it's lack of water. It has been ridiculously dry, thought it was going to rain earlier but nope still dry. Apparently a couple of garlic cloves in water sprayed on plants puts slugs off.... I'm dreading my water bill, have used loads keeping the garden alive!

Just watched long lost families and bawled my eyes out! Honestly that programme does me in 😭

AdoraBell · 17/07/2018 23:05

NSD today. Will need top up shop tomorrow.

I am obsessed with pens and love when reps come in with free ones. You are very good em giving yours away to charity.

ememem84 · 18/07/2018 06:55

Morning.

Gym last night where I was “beasted” by my trainer. Man I hate her today but also love her for the confidence boost it’s giving me.

My ac will be overdrawn today as £250 will be moved to my regular saver ac. Annoyingly it was set up on 18th of each month and I can’t change the date. Grrr. So will have to transfer money to cover that.

Seminar at lunchtime (with free sandwiches! Yay!) and I need to buy donuts or treats with my World Cup winnings.

Dh has today off. We are getting our internal doors fire proofed with intumescent strips. Fun. But this will be the last piece of the puzzle we need to do to get our apartment in shape for the move. Just have to wait now for a communal decision re the communal fire alarm system and we can move. Lawyer thinks mid August. So finally. We have a little bit of fuzzy clarity on things.

ememem84 · 18/07/2018 09:02

£23 on 25 donuts from the bakery. Chocolate donuts. Custard donuts. Jammy donuts. Yippee. All hugged tightly together in the glossy white bakery boxes.
