Another load of boxes moved over, had to dash in and out as we actually had rain!

We have got shitloads done. Unfortunately plans have now changed for Sunday as DSS can no longer use the work van but he’s still going to take more stuff to the tip in his car on Sunday bless him.

I think I’m going to turn into a giant dust bunny.

I don’t think it’s actually sunk in that this is our new home yet, but it’s definitely feeling more like ‘ours’ the more things we move over there. I must say though, it’s actually looking bigger as we move stuff into it, rather than smaller, as it’s showing how much less percentage it takes up IYSWIM? Especially in the kitchen, today we took the big food processor and slow cooker - both of which have been neglected in the cupboard because there is no space to use them without major faff - and put them ON THE COUNTER. Where they will be able to live, permanently. And there is still a fuckload of beautiful empty counter space left.

So much left to do, I am beyond knackered, but I feel really positive this evening :)

Sandals received and went straight back as they were badly stained. I had to pay postage to return £4. I have complained and requested the postage is refunded !

That's brilliant Cag. I know what you mean about a house looking bigger with furniture in it. My dparents house here seemed much bigger with the furniture in and the furniture seems much smaller than it did in their last house.

Enjoy settling in!

Bornlazy · 13/07/2018 20:46

Hi everyone, back from my definitely unfrugal holiday! It was worth it though as had a lovely time and was glad to have missed some of the scorching weather we had here. Now have to think about next years school uniforms - its just one spend after another Hmm

Mammy sorry to hear about your poor dog, pets are such a huge part of our lives

Cag how exciting for you. Sometimes I think the only way to sort my house is to pretend I'm moving and throw most of my crap in the bin Blush

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/07/2018 20:55

Pleased the house is going good cag.

I looked at Aldi uniform and it looks ok but a bit thin in the Polo shirts and socks for me. For the price though if that's what you can afford then it's meant to be fine.
I know it's been well ploated in my local store so some must really like it.

£53 Aldi, Iceland was shut and will do Sainsbury's tomorrow

Cracking savings there bandit

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/07/2018 21:13

The aldi uniform gets good reviews on mumsnet Snuggly. I wear their socks to work and they've lasted longer than the m&s socks I got dh.

I suppose the bits their most likely to get holes in is jumpers and trousers?.

It's a total scrum in my aldi when the uniform hits the shops.

Wolfcub · 13/07/2018 21:20

Mammy was it you who bought Teva sandals? What did you think

OP posts:
QuiteCleanBandit · 13/07/2018 21:50

Aldi socks are the best !
Last ages, excellent quality and are a good size.
Not tried uniform but any clothing ive got from there ,cycling stuff, merino baselayers and thermals have all been excellent .

SnugglySnerd · 13/07/2018 22:00

Thanks for the Aldi uniform reviews. I need to go in anyway for nappies and more ice cream so I'll have a look. I might still get it in Sainsbury's 25% off though (which I think will be soon) and use my Nectar points.

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/07/2018 22:29

That's a good idea to buy uniform. I've just done it. I see what you mean about the cost.

It was £67 for 5 jumpers and 5 t-shirts for my ds. That must really add up for people who have two or three children.

I need to buy school trousers too. I found nice ones in Next that ds likes, and ordered them, but then couldn't get to the shop to pick them up. This time I'll get them delivered. Costs more, but then they definitely arrive, which helps.

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/07/2018 22:35

That was £45 for 5 pairs of school trousers. Oddly, next said that if I placed another order within 30 minutes I would get free delivery so I did that. I don't know whether it means that I only pay for delivery once, or not at all. I imagine I'll find out.

Not an NSD then.

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/07/2018 23:11

I just ordered a absolute stack of books from the city library to keep us busy in the holidays. They seem to be coming along very fast suddenly. We just have 7 school days left in the year.

It's been a good year, this. Ds is looking forward to next year too.

AdoraBell · 13/07/2018 23:55

£6 on coffee and cake
£9 on smoothies for DDs. Afternoon out, DH bought dinner out.

Loveabaconsandwich · 14/07/2018 07:12

Happy weekend everybody!

Glad to hear you are making progress with the house move cag but do remember to take it easy too

We've finally made it to our night away without the DC tonight. We're seeing Chicago tonight, followed by court no 1 tickets at Wimbledon on Sunday. I am so excited! Frugaleering officially is on hold this weekend, although I have bought drinks/snacks for our journey and staying at my brother's house tonight.

DP has his job interview for a term time only job next week too. If he got it, we'd have to get used to having all our holidays off together again 😂

Loveabaconsandwich · 14/07/2018 07:14

I have also unfrugally resigned from my current job and finish on DD1s last day at school before the summer holidays. I then have 5 weeks off with the DDs before starting my new job. I hope we don't get bored.

WreckTangled · 14/07/2018 07:44

Wow love!! Have a great weekend and I think having the summer off is a great idea. I'm working in the shop this morning then pil's are coming over this afternoon as it's mil's birthday. Tomorrow we're going to the festival of speed.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2018 08:01

It's not really unfrugal love as you would have been paying your wage into childcare. May as well enjoy the time with the DC. Have a lovely weekend and good luck to your dh.

Sainsbury's ship today which is never a cheap day out.

ememem84 · 14/07/2018 08:24

love aaaah so jealous!!! Enjoy Wimbledon!!! I’ve been a few times before (thanks to a client - so frugal to me!!) but never on final day. (Sundays final day right?!)

Today is riding then sorting some stuff out then maybe a beach trip.

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/07/2018 08:34

That sounds brilliant love. The holidays with your dh sound wonderful.

I pushed the boat right out and started the morning with smoked salmon and black pudding for breakfast. #OMG #SoTasty.

ememem84 · 14/07/2018 09:21

Checked my bank account. Wish I hadn’t.

Email from the bank - they’re increasing my credit card limit. Which is nice but also dangerous...! I can refuse but figured I’ll accept as could be useful once we get our new house.

I get paid next Friday. Woohoo.

In the mean time I have £40 plus a couple of handfuls of change in my purse to last the week.

Riding today will take out £30 of that.

I’ve put the “big” change (£2 £1 and 50ps) into a money box.

ememem84 · 14/07/2018 09:22

I also need to clear my credit card balance. It’s over £1k.

Will do some serious paying off on payday and am going to do some eBay selling.

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/07/2018 09:47

Has anybody tried one of these iron fish before? luckyironfish.com/

I'm boiling mine now and it puts sort of sandy stuff in the water, and the water turns slightly orange, as if it was irn bru.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/07/2018 10:45

Sunny that looks really interesting

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/07/2018 10:47

Em Shock at balance, enjoy horse riding

I'm going to get up now, didn't get home to my parents last night until 2.30am, chatting with my friends, it was lovely.
