btw Cag - about the habit of over-analysing - My GP said to me recently: "Stop analysing everything and just learn to play the clarinet."

I don't think he realises that over-analysing is a life sign with me, right up there with breathing and pulse. Are you the same?

SnugglySnerd · 30/06/2018 12:46

Oh no Cag! That's awful at any time but in this heat! Good news about the van though.

Fed up of babies not sleeping in the heat. We're all exhausted.

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/06/2018 12:51

I remember that with mine snuggly. I've been watching him sleep this week and feeling so utterly relieved that he is now able to just get on and sleep in warm weather, and even tell me whether he is too hot or not.

Are you losing a lot of sleep?

Cagliostro · 30/06/2018 14:40

Yes, if it were as simple as "stop analyzing everything" I'm pretty sure I would've done it by now! :o

No more puke since DH left (my hero, he dealt entirely with the older two), there has been a lot of napping and the baby is happily stealing the plain biscuits left out for the older two to nibble Hmm

Oddly, DD remembered that she had felt sick the other time she had that particular chicken and didn't eat much of it. It was definitely cooked properly, in date etc. Not sure if it just didn't agree with them?! Although I never really know what that means TBH in the absence of actual food poisoning or allergies.

There I go over analyzing again :o

That's odd Cag. I wonder if there's somethings just not quite right about that kind of chicken? I had that once when I started buying trout (trying to be healthy-eating). It took me three goes of it before I realised that my fridge in my rented accommodation just didn't have enough oomph to safely store trout.

I just had the weirdest bit of fun ever. I went to the woodwind instrument shop, to get a broken bit of my clarinet replaced, and I asked if I could have a go of a bass clarinet.

The bass clarinet is like the normal clarinet but much longer, producing notes like a double bass, and my goodness is it a relaxing thing to play. Honestly I think the NHS could prescribe Bass clarinets to women with post-natal anxiety disorder instead of anxiolytics.

Next time my family has some major stressful event, I reckon I will try to rent one for three months.

£11

This is a bass clarinet, in case anyone would like to see:

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/06/2018 15:07

Oh no cag vomiting kids are not nice, hope they are feeling better now bless them. That's a brilliant saving on the van, it cost me £300 to get a moving van and man to do the lifting!!

Dd had a good time! Am relieved and pleased for her, she does struggle a bit socially so am hoping she has now found some good friends. She is knackered today though!!

I'm at work although have nipped home quickly, have watered my garden again 100 litres 😣 I can't bear for anything to die though! !

Nsd.

Cagliostro · 30/06/2018 15:41

That’s great sunny about the bass clarinet (didn’t know that existed) and hurrah girlie for successful sleepover!

I’m currently looking at piano movers, as it’s not going in the regular van.

£73 Aldi, £79 Sainsbury's, £17 Iceland, fucking food prices, £25 Waterstones, £15 ish at a carnival the scouts were in

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/06/2018 16:44

First world problems post.

Help me decide to prioritise what I want. I'm going to show you some house styles and tell me what you think.

Want: garden that is a decent size and gets good evening sun.
2 toilet, ideally 2 bathrooms can compromise on bathroom.
Somewhere we can give the DC to have space with friends when they are teenagers

Would like spare room but I think in coming round to that being something I will comprise on.

These are in my town but might not be the houses. They are the style though.
Price : 4 bed £230- 240k ish, £200-225 3 bed semi.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/06/2018 16:54

Pleased vomitus people are feeling better.
Glad also the music helps
That is a good saving on the van. Do you have able bodied people to lift and carry for you?

Cagliostro · 30/06/2018 17:26

Wow those houses are great. Rooms very small in the first one though I think? But an extra room 🤔 so much to think about. In a way I’m quite glad we didn’t get much choice of house as it takes the need to make decisions out of it 😳 not sure if I missed something, are you needing to move now or is it more a general plan?

Yes DSS will be helping and my SIL said her and her DW can come up too, they moved themselves to a new home the other week. Also they have stuff like a strimmer we can borrow which is awesome. Other friends have offered use of cars to take bits over, that sort of thing, I feel really lucky :) so I reckon we can get away without any professional movers, BUT I am making an exception for the piano, I really don’t want it just bundled into a van! (It’s basically my fourth child after all.) Waiting for replies, will chase up by phone next week.

Might need help with building Ikea stuff simply because there will be fuckloads of it. The packages tend to say how many people needed to build don’t they? Normally DH does it all with me helping a bit, and DS wants to help too. Would be a bad idea to rush it though.

Caglets still really washed out, especially DS. Cagletini is fine, clingy though and keeps shouting MUMUMUMUMUM if I dare do something other than play with her for more than 2 minutes 😂 plain rice for dinner (safe and bland) but I’m having Parmesan with mine woohoo.

Life I like the second one. The third one has no curb appeal imo. The first one is nice and I think if you had it in you to completely redo it it could be really nice as currently all the dark wood etc makes it look small.

ememem84 · 30/06/2018 17:44

Riding done. £27. Instructor is upping her prices as of tomorrow so it’ll be £30 for a hour lesson.

QuiteCleanBandit · 30/06/2018 18:09

I dont eat chicken but I wouldnt touch those hot roast chickens with a barge pole
Perfect breeding ground for nasty bacteria in this heat.
Individuals are more/less susceptible to FP and it doesnt follow that everyone who has eaten it will go down with it .
Have cleaned the whole house today -it looks lovely and sparkly and DH did chickens Smile
SunnyAll I can say is that its probably not the best idea to do that .
Why does your DH want you to appear eccentric?
Probably best to be yourself and ask for a rest if it gets too much, most people would struggle with talking for 4 hours non stop tbh.
Would a bottle of water and a handheld fan help ?

LonelyOversharer · 30/06/2018 18:18

life third one is not my taste at all. Just a big box apologies to owners I like the first one, the smallest bedroom could be a den as well as a spare room? The second one is ok too, bigger garden. I like older properties but know that newer ones are less fuss. The wood in the first is a bit dark, but think how cool it would be in that hall today!

We went to the outlet, £27 on dd3's trainers (dp bought ds'), and £6 costa, £5 maccyd's on iced drinks. So cheaper than I thought.

Just been bumming around at home. Have cleared to the back door (in the living room, half a set of french doors!) and had that open all day. Nearly weeded the patio (block paved), so almost got a good job done.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/06/2018 18:20

It's a general plan cag. Got to see how much we need to save first

SnugglySnerd · 30/06/2018 18:51

Pleased the sleepover went well Girlie.

Not much sleep happening here Sunny. It's taking them ages to get to sleep in the evening with a lot of cuddles and crying then they are all up early because of the light. DD1 was up at 4.30 this morning. They have black out blinds and curtains but because of the heat their windows are open which makes the curtains billow so their rooms keep going light and dark. Daytime naps not much better. All very grumpy this evening.

I'm still ploughing through all the potatoes. We've had frittata, homity pie, wedges, jacket potatoes and tonight it's patatas bravas. Still have some left to cook tomorrow. Will probably just do mash or something though.

Been to Aldi to buy more ice cream. We're getting through it this week! Vastly cheaper than buying individual ice creams from the local shop though.

QuiteCleanBandit · 30/06/2018 19:35

I really like the 2nd one life
Bit pricier but light and reasonable size garden which is a blank canvas .
First one is way to dark and made worse with that pine kitchen and dark wood.
Tiny garden
3rd one is a box-nothing appeals to me at all.

QuiteCleanBandit · 30/06/2018 19:37

Snuggly
We have got through several boxes of those Aldi ice creams -no brainer really.
£2.69 for a Magnum in our village shop Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/06/2018 19:52

The middle one is the style we saw today and liked but needs rewire and boiler.
The box one is very common round here. That or 30 semi's.
Dh prefers character. I just don't want to make another costly mistake.
I'm very confused.

QuiteCleanBandit · 30/06/2018 19:56

How old are your DClife
If late teens they will be off soon!
It goes really quickly once they hit 15/16 and they are often out anyway.
Can you compare the rewire/boiler house with those that have sold recently and knock the costs off the price ?

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/06/2018 20:02

I like the first one life but that is because we make a constant racket with musical instruments and prefer detached. i do like the style though. It's similar to ours. Downside is that that dark wood in a house of that age may be varnished in lead varrnish. Ours has varnish that colour and I had it tested and it had a huge amount of lead in it. Ours is painted over in white gloss.

Tbh though, I like all three.

Sorry to hear about the sleep snuggly. That sounds hard. If you all decamped to the cold side of the house would that work? We did that for a while.

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/06/2018 20:05

The dimensions of the rooms on house 1 don't look so bad to me. They rooms are a good bit bigger then ours. Only the garden seems a bit on the small side.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/06/2018 20:13

My DC are 8&10.
My thing with 3 bedrooms are the size of the box room. House 2 is about as big as it's they get hence I thought the 4 bedroom. The trade off is slightly smaller rooms.
It will be the style of 2 or 3 I think.
These are just common styles. I won't view these specific ones.

Going to 300k is a whole different ball game Envy. Hope much do children fetch on eBay these days,??
