Morning all. It’s pay day thank goodness. Dinner out last night was £20 which was about 3 more than I had in change so paid by card but my expenses had gone through so it was covered. Fat face sale skirt arrived yesterday not sure I like it as it’s button through and they are actual buttons not just decorative ones so that doesn’t seem very practical to me it may be going back.
Going to m&co today to look at tshirts as it’s the last day to use my £5 voucher. Ds is back tonight and I there is a fair bit of cleaning to do today too.
H gave me half up front for the school uniform costs yesterday, that will really help, I’ve put the money away in the annual savings pot and will use it when I order the uniform in the next week or so (I need to take ds to the shop to look at sizing)

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2018 08:14

Yay! I'm glad you like the idea. I feel as if I've been helpful now. Smile

I'm not sure about sun cream. I'd be interested to know though if you do the experiment. My ds refuses to wear sun cream, but fortunately also does not burn.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2018 09:00

That is a good idea sunny. I never thought of using the pause button for that.
Life sorry to hear you are feeling stressed but I’m also pleased to hear you have good support.
Skirt packaged up to return. Will have to pay postage.
Broke into my holiday tin and ordered some euros to collect tomorrow. There was 104 in the tin which is good seeing as I haven’t put anything in it for three months. Ordered £200 of euros and will probably order another 100 later on but my parents have mentioned having some so i may just buy their’s from them.
All banking and accounting done ready for the new month and school dinners for primary and school trip for seniors paid for

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/06/2018 09:15

Another day off today as I'm working this wend. It's too hot to run so might be good and go for a swim instead....

Dd is going to her first ever sleepover tonight, she has had friends here to sleep but never actually gone to a friends house. It's for her friends bday and I think there's a few girls going. Hoping she will be okay, not sure whether to mention to the mum about her SPD? What do you think cag? The chances are there won't be any issues and I don't want to highlight any differences but......

My lovely student bought me a beautiful orchid as a thank you gift, am really pleased with it as love orchids and have been fairly successful at keeping them alive!!

Need cat biscuits today and am meeting work girls and my student for a chippy lunch! Also gave dd about £4 this morning as it's a non uniform day and they have cake sales etc going on at school.

Cagliostro · 29/06/2018 09:21

That’s a great idea sunny I never would’ve thought of it!

Thanks wreck what kinds of things do school nurses do?

Quite that’s useful too, I would get a 250ml one for the Caglets then - they are forever filling up big bottles and not finishing them.

I’ve never really thought about private v state TBH as it is completely out of the question for us financially. I have heard about some private schools at least that they are not good for SN anyway (things like schools rejecting pupils when they find out about ASD :() but that must vary among private schools just as state schools vary.

DS has no intention of trying school but if he did he would do better in special school, I doubt he would get a place though. DD has had wobbles about trying secondary, she would need a tiny school and there is one very new one by an airport so I’d probably look at that first.

Girlie I totally understand your reticence to say about SPD before a sleepover. I always worry that I'm selling my ds short if I highlight things that might not even be a problem.

From my Beavers work I feel it's always better to know what issues there might be for a child in advance. It's much easier than trying to work stuff out on the fly, or having to phone a parent and ask tricky questions about an issue that might possibly be sensitive for them as well as for the child. That just my thought though. I think it's probably a very personal thing, so may be different for you and your dd.

I'm still working hard at the music here. Ds and I can nearly play the thing that we're meant to have learned for his lesson on Saturday, and I am trying to learn a clarinet part to play with Dh.

The clarinet thing is basically because the breath control of playing the clarinet calms me right down and I want to be in good nick on Monday for my ASD test, so on I bash with the practising. Otherwise, a day off, to try to be ship shape and ready to go on Monday.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/06/2018 10:37

Yes sunny that's exactly it, it's a tricky one, I will probably mention something to the mum along the lines of 'dd does sometimes get a bit overwhelmed so if you think she's struggling let me know. ...'

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/06/2018 10:48

Great idea sunny & saves getting a basin out clearing bath toys out of basin to do a soak first

WreckTangled · 29/06/2018 11:30

Cag I have pm'd you with a brief description of the device offered.

£60 Aldi
£37 Sainsbury's but that includes beer (£9)

WreckTangled · 29/06/2018 11:40

Someone's got a bonfire ffs what's wrong with people?!

ChristmasSeacow · 29/06/2018 12:39

I would mention it Girlie exactly in the way you’ve suggested. It might just catch them off guard if she reacts strongly to something, and at least this way they’d feel confident calling you and knowing you wouldn’t be upset with them for doing something ‘wrong’. I don’t think you need to explain fully unless the need arises.

Just been to sing and story thing at the library. I am feeling very sleepy but DD is not Hmm

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2018 13:37

Girlie that sounds like a nice middle-of-the-road way of saying it. If the Mum is a switched-on sort then she might ask what it is that she needs to be careful of, and if she's more laid back, then at least she'll know that you're happy to receive a phone call on the night.

I'm ridiculously hyper about monday. I don't remember every being asked questions for four hours straight before, except during my PhD viva. Hey ho.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2018 14:04

4 post office to return skirt Shock
5 wilkos on antihistamine and a tester pot
53 m&co, had both my 5 pound off and 20% discount applied. Nice pair of linen shorts and three tops
Frugal win df and dm gave me their leftover euros €200 so with what I’ve ordered we will have more than enough. I had offered and intended to pay for them.
Sunny the music playing sounds like it’s really coming on. Try not to worry about Monday, as it’s all about you there are no wrong answers
£9 Sainsbury’s but 7.50 of that was points, I can’t wIt until 10.30pm for teAbags and that’s when my shopping is due

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/06/2018 14:27

£10 aldi top up
£5 lip gloss, perfect shade for me. It will no doubt be discontinued immediately.
£11 some skincare. Paid for it out of my halifax rewards cashback & got £3 cashback from tcb. Plus 7% cashback.

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2018 14:50

Thanks Wolf, I suppose you're right. My main worry is the same as Girlie's about the sleep over. I don't want to sell myself short, but then there's no point going to a test like that and not talking about the sensory stuff and all that. Hey ho.

In better news, the music playing is all free, so I have started having NSDs, which I don't think has really happened before.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2018 15:20

I spotted a hole in my skirt while I was cleaning and now can’t find it. It needs fixing and it’s going to drive me crackers knowing it’s there. I’ve searched all the seams where I think I saw it

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/06/2018 15:23

£4.50 swimming, the running has def improved my fitness as I did 34 lengths quite easily!!

£7 morrisons on a few bits.

Work had gone a bit nuts so didn't get my chippy lunch in the end.

I've been asked to be godmother which is nice I guess although I'm really not religious!

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/06/2018 19:02

Dh has given me a spray tan, innuendo aplenty here tonight.

He reckons his tans are better than mine 🙄 the person who actually has two spray tanning qualifications. Basic and contouring 🤔

He has three coats of 10% on so god help him in the morning.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2018 19:06

Ooh fluffy it’s a few weeks until my first one, I am becoming obsessed with the idea of not being ghost white for once

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/06/2018 19:08

I think these days girlie godparents don't have the same responsibility towards the child's spiritual upbringing as they once did, lovely gesture and honour.

Today I bought the dc their schoolbooks
€12 for two books inc free book covers in a shop over a hundred miles away for collection there, dm will collect as she visits this city weekly
€117 for majority of rest of list this includes covers(not free) 10% off and free delivery
The remaining ones are not clear on list there are a & b's available so they'll wait until September.

NorbertTheDragon · 29/06/2018 19:18

@ChristmasSeacow I don't have chilly bottles but I do have bottles I got from TKMaxx (so cheaper!) that keep water cool for 24 hours. I love it, nothing worse than warm water when your thirsty in the heat. And they don't leak, hooray!

Spends today - £28 on a strimmer for my jungle garden, and a fan. I'm cool again, in more ways than one. 😎😂

£14 on breakfast/lunch for me and DS.

£10 on dinner (pasta salad pots and other bits) from co-op because I couldn't be bothered to cook for my other poor neglected children.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/06/2018 19:21

It's a bit of a funny set up mammy hard to say too much on here but I'm going to have a think about it.

Dd has gone off to her sleep over, it was a bit awkward to say anything to the mum as dd and her friend were stood right by us. I have sent a text to say any problems whatsoever to call me though.

I'm struggling to keep up with the plant watering, the pots esp are suffering. Am recycling water as much as possible but am thinking my water bill is likely to go up. My tree is looking very droopy 😦

Making the most of a child free evening and going over to a friends later.

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2018 19:33

Our primary school has just got slated by Ofsted. I feel really bad for the headmistress. I really like her. I think I will send a letter to say how much we appreciate the work she did with us and invite her over for a cuppa.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2018 19:34

Girlie I originally refused to be a god mother because I’m not religious. We had a long chat about what was expected and why the parents wanted me to fulfil the role and reached an agreement

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2018 19:41

I am religious and I've always thought the only responsibility of a Godmother was to be the one person who remembers to send birthday presents. :-)
