We are building mindstorms lego while listening to Glenn Miller music on Youtube. This is how parenthood should work.

ememem84 · 13/04/2018 13:15

nobutts ds will probably want flat white....

Wolfcub · 13/04/2018 13:56

Half days work done. Large sausage casserole in slow cooker, I’ve skinned the sausages as I plan to freeze a lot of it and I think the skins will be tough if I do that. Kitchen floor mopped. Some ironing. Told in laws about split but not reasons, it’s unfair for ds not to be able to say he’s not ok if someone asks him so I’m taking matters into my own hands.
Dug our all my old pairs of glasses and I’m going to find a charity shop or similar that does vision aid to take them too.

Nails brows and lashes later, hopefully that will mean I look less like I’ve been smacked in the face

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2018 14:03

We didn't even know about decaf soya lattes when I was young.

A filter coffee was posh

QuiteCleanBandit · 13/04/2018 14:51

I never buy coffee when out.
Mainly because its so strong, I end up by the ceiling with the jitters !
Had to take a chipped mug back to Sainburys and got 3 more plus a lovely grey quilt -frenchish chic for the bed😶
Prawn stirfry with kale for lunch and chai
Sunny
I think with ED it causes problems with the smooth muscle of the bladder and bladder neck.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/04/2018 14:58

Report back sunny. I've looked at those before too.

Spendy day - got some work shoes in Clarks £59 but as I missed the 20% off she jiggled a promo and I got £15 off. Pleased with that.
£5 boots in points, £6.50 Wilko, £12 primark throws and cushions, £6 lunch dh and I having some long overdue adult time, £5 chazza on a coffee machine, £22 bike chain, think that's it
Tip later then aldi

AdoraBell · 13/04/2018 16:08

NSD, although I used £30 of Nectar points.

Cagliostro · 13/04/2018 16:15

I love going to coffee shops on my own TBH. Or restaurants. And don’t mind pubs although I hate standing at a bar waiting to be served. I go into the local Wetherspoons every Thursday when the Caglets are at a club. Take a book or whatever (although now the baby provides the entertainment) I’m all good.

As for clothes I’ve not looked in Sainsbury’s really as I don’t tend to visit our local big store. I was absolutely gutted when the Caglets got too old for Boots clothing - DH used to get discount on them so they grew up wearing loads of it. Always lasted brilliantly too. Quite glad I now get another 5ish years of being able to buy from there. Although I can blame seacow for introducing me to John Lewis and Boden babyclothes 😉😍

Big spends recently, £164 bus passes for the Caglets, 13 weeks. Need to order a cotbed. Eep.

In other news I have an endocrinology appointment for next month. I was expecting them to just ask for a retest (as one of the thyroid tests came back a bit odd) but nope. I still expect it’s nothing though. Vitamin D and ferroglobin seem to be helping as well, I am still achy (but then, I have been achy every day since 2012) but less so, which is brilliant.

Other than that we have been decluttering and organising again. 5 bags of stuff to charity tomorrow. Yay!

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/04/2018 16:24

Thanks Bandit that's useful to know. I gather that it can also cause anal prolapse in women who have had an episiotomy, which I have, so I'm now quite motivated to do something about the ol' pelvic floor.

Life thanks I'll do that. I think it will be quite comical, but it will really help me to get on with it if you all don't mind a bit of commentary. Smile

We just went to town and bought socks. Exciting

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2018 16:28

£5 on a coffee machines a bargain life. Is it a pod one?.

£1 two cat food pouches.
£3 Lilly’s kitchen cat biscuits. Trying to get a biscuit refuser onto biscuits.
£2.90 big packs of spices and Gram flour, I’m going to try making poppadoms.
£345 cats dental appointment.

Quite Shop bought coffee gives me stomach ache. How is the gas bill looking?.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/04/2018 17:06

Blimey is that what it costs to get cats teeth sorted *fluffy? I will be attacking my two with toothbrushes!!

What erm does that pelvic machine do/go?!! 😰

I'm do knackered have worked 6 days out of the last 7 which is madness 😲 so ready for the wend.

Nsd.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/04/2018 17:08

Go on sunny give us a commentary. Real life product review.

No it's a one with the handle that clicks in like the bsrristas have. Will post a photo in a bit.

£48 Aldi, £12 Iceland.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2018 17:23

Ooh lovely I’ve got an espresso pump too. And a tassimo as reserve.

girlie That’s sedation for a blood test, ga when sedation failed, blood test under Ga to check his kidneys are working well enough for ga, another ga, 5 teeth out and a deep clean plus some nice ketamine, a painkiller shot, and some loxicam for pain relief over the next few days. Bargain.

The cats still off his tits on ketamine. He must’ve been in lots of pain though so I’m happy it’s all over. They’ve said not to do a follow up unless I think he needs one ie please take your Bengal home and don’t come back.

Hence the wine.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 13/04/2018 17:24

Checking in.
Have had a good look at bank statement and decided I am spending too much in the supermarket. I made a resolution a while ago to switch to Aldi for main shopping with Costco and a few bits I’m fussy about at Sainsburies/Tesco. Did I do it? No. I have added up all I spend at various supermarkets and I’m embarrassed by it. No good beating myself up though, just need to make the changes. I must stop regarding the supermarket as a recreational activity for after work. And stop spending impulsively on Amazon. When DP comes home I will have a chat with him about it. He is not fussy in general so he should be fine. I had a look at my utilities too but they don’t seem too bad.
We are also going tonight to cancel out gym membership as we are not using it and want to try somewhere else. DP wants to join a smaller less expensive gym over the road from us that will mean no driving or car park charges, and we both like the swimming baths in a neighbouring town better so will join there and go together paying as we go until we get into it. So £38 cancelled for me and £50 for him per month.
Congratulations to the new Aunty and hope everyone is having a good day. 😺

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/04/2018 17:26

It's one of them and the handle thing goes under the writing.

You can’t beat gaggia. Does it need a tamper?.

Duchess Absolutely, the best apology is changed behaviour.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 13/04/2018 17:52

Oh also, on a more positive note, letter today informing me of pay rise. Yay! Not a huge one but all grist to the mill.
Thank you Fluffy. Feel quite upbeat actually, when I see all I could save on paper.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/04/2018 17:56

I read Life’s penultimate post and thought she was describing the pelvic floor machine 😂

I have a prolapse so not sure whether I’ll need surgery, in any case. Something to look into when life calms down. (That’s my life, not Life)

ChristmasSeacow · 13/04/2018 17:56

That is a very expensive cat Shock

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/04/2018 18:00

But totally worth it.

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/04/2018 18:07

Girlie It's exactly like tens machine, but the electrodes go on my thighs and rear end. I can hardly wait.

Discovery no. 1 is that it's sufficiently complicated that ds, dh and me had to read the instructions and assemble it together.

Ds was really worried about the idea of Mum having to be electrocuted up the rear end, and wants to know if this is in his future. I explained that it is only for women that have had babies, and that the worst equivalent he will ever experience is a kick in the balls. He was very relieved, and says he's had that, and yes it does hurt.

Fluffy only you could make all that cat story sound that funny. Well done for managing it. Grin

Christmas yikes! Can you walk around with a prolapse? I didn't know that. I don't want one of those.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/04/2018 18:17

I certainly can walk around, but would definitely try my hardest not to sneeze at the same time Wink or indeed sneeze ever

Wolfcub · 13/04/2018 18:39

Nails and brows done looks like a human now and slightly less expensive than I expected because no soaking.
Took a small bag of ds’s stuff to the chazza. We are registered for gift aid there for our donations but she clearly couldn’t be bothered to take the details so their loss!

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/04/2018 18:55

Gosh! Christmas How does a person know if they have a prolapse? Or should I not ask that?

LonelyOversharer · 13/04/2018 19:08

I think most prolapses are "up inside" sunny ie through the vaginal wall so the bladder or back passege protrudes where it shouldn't. I know more about this than I should 4 dc will do that

Chicken food and water tonic £21. Aldi top up £41, mostly pet food and potatoes. Just waiting for my cat to notice I've swapped £4 a box for £1.75 a box. Two pouches gone so far...

duchess your shopping sounds like I was pre frugaleer thread! Supermarkets as an everyday leisure activity, and 3k on amazon last year, and this was actually less than the year before Confused so far this year, £280 on amazon, thats 2x dc birthdays and a pair of doctor martens as school shoes.

Hey that coffee machine looks an excellent buy life have you given it a whirl yet? I have a Kmix filter machine in storage, and a dolce gusto, but dp's little stove top thing is the best we have.
