Evening all :-)

Money in bank: -£727.67
Money in food/petrol account: £482.46
Money in purse: £0.43
Price Guarantee vouchers: 2.27

Actual money available: £1210.56 = 2.27 vouchers.

Spends since last post
Slimming world 6 week countdown – 24.75
Meat delivery – 33.50
DH has taken 20.00 of his ‘allowance’.

Days left to payday: 32 (including today)

....Did 1 ¼ hours overtime today so that is 8 ¼ altogether – will be doing some more on Sunday as I can’t face waking up early tomorrow.
.....My dad have me his Asda receipts that he would otherwise have thrown in the bin and they generated £1.35 and 0.27
......Did my grocery shop at Aldi today (not a full shop). It was about £58 but £16 was none food. I am trying some of their Glycol face wipes which look exactly the same as the Nip + Fab ones that I use and only cost £2.49 – I bought 2 x tubs.

......I also bought a kettle for £9.99. I haven’t bought a kettle in years so wasn’t sure if that was a good price – but it was red. I got home and checked in Argos, their cheapest was 5.50 but the next one up was £9.99. Getting it from Aldi saved me from having to venture into another supermarket where I’d probably have bought more stuff too.
......Dog (Labrador, chewing level: expert) chewed my trainers today which I've only had for about 2 weeks! Luckily they were only £12 from Primark but I would have liked them to have lasted longer. It's my own fault for leaving them out - these trainers had replaced the last pair of trainers that he chewed!!! I'll go into town tomorrow and replace them as they were the comfiest trainers I had ever had.

Have a good weekend y'all and good luck to anyone who is having a flutter on the National tomorrow.

ScarletPower · 13/04/2018 19:31

PS - Thanks for the weight-loss acknowledgements - I agree that it's not just "only" a pound and I should be very pleased. I did get comfortably into a pair of jeans today which I could not fit comfortably into only a week ago so I think I probably lost inches.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/04/2018 20:01

It works fine. It's from the mind shop and they checked it all out before hand. Yes dh had tried it as I don't like coffee and likes it.

No sea, no photos of there trust me. Prolapse here too (large dc) but sorted with squeezes ish

Been washing woodwork. I'm officially a slattern. I wonder how much a professional deep clean works be and if they would do woodwork and radiators. Ponders.....

Wolfcub · 13/04/2018 20:10

If you find out Life let me know cos god knows my house could do with a deep clean

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 13/04/2018 20:38

Lonely, thank you, good to know I’m not alone in this! It’s not as though supermarkets are specially nice places. I’m looking at meditation, yoga and the like to help me wind down after work instead, have found some nice things online for free. Very glad I looked at the statement, I was expecting it to be a lot worse, though it’s bad enough. I’m looking forward to the changes and the saving. I think previously I’ve been trying to be penny wise, but have been pound foolish too.

DP (after he wolfed down leftover roast beef, potatoes and baked beans😺) looked at the figures and said he thought well of my new shopping plan and that he would help.

ememem84 · 13/04/2018 20:56

Apparently horse riding is good for the pelvic floor...

SnugglySnerd · 13/04/2018 21:47

I'm not 100% sure what a prolapse is suddenly grateful for having 2 c sections but it sounds unpleasant.

It was so nearly an NSD until I just bought 4 kids' books on Amazon. 3 are for gifts. The other is for me DD.

Unescorted · 13/04/2018 22:13

life my first coffee machine was a Gaggia. It was ace. When it went to coffee machine heaven my my dad bought me a Rocket and a cafe style coffee grinder...they are my most treasured possessions. We now have lots of visitors

Today has been very unfrugal.... Lunch out with dh and a visit to Fred's in Manchester to buy DD a little arty treat to see her through her GCSEs. I love that shop.

I may have found out that one of my sketchbook hero's lives just up the road from us and does studio classes...... I am destined to be poor forevermore.

CremeEggThief · 13/04/2018 22:16

NSD.

Congratulations, Aunty Mammy. I love that nickname!Grin

What a bargain coffee maker, Life. That's a good price for a supermarket cafetiere, let alone a proper coffee maker.

Wolf, you sound a little perkier. Nails and waxing always lifts my mood too.

Em, glad the settling in week has gone so well. I have loved a coffee out on my own since my DS started Nursery.

I'm a bit hazy on what a prolapse means too, Snuggly.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/04/2018 22:28

It’s where an organ slips out of place and protrudes through the vagina or rectum.

TMI alert: I have a vaginal prolapse, so it is actually the front of my vaginal wall that has slipped down. Occasionally it protrudes ‘outside’. First time it happened I had such a shock when I went to the loo - though I knew vaguely what it must be so didn’t think I was dying Grin. It’s not much fun but the Gp said they wouldn’t refer me until I had completed my family and this was just after dc1. I do the squeezes and it has helped a bit but I am still very far from watertight so should go back. It’s rubbish being a woman Confused

Wolf i had a deep clean once. 4 bed extended semi, they took c 12 hours at it. It wasn’t really terrible but things like skirting needed doing, tops of kitchen cupboards and the like. The going rate depends where you are but in London it’s £10-12 ph. More like £8-10 away from the SE I gather.

So tired today, it’s exhausting having so much emotion near the surface. I think there’s a few of us in that position at the moment, thank goodness for the weekend.

SnugglySnerd · 13/04/2018 22:33

That's pretty much what I imagined it was but I assumed that would be a medical emergency. How on earth does one even go about completing their family with such issues?? (Don't feel you have to tell me btw it's rather personal!)

ChristmasSeacow · 13/04/2018 22:41

Nah, I just poked it back in! It’s just a bulging piece of muscle really, doesn’t interfere with ‘relations’ as it is mostly in place. The main problem really is the general disaster of my pelvic floor and impact on leakages. There was a chance my second labour would make the prolapse worse but it doesn’t seem to have done. Maybe that’s the squeezes after all?!

Good job I don’t know you lot irl Wink

ememem84 · 13/04/2018 22:54

😂 at “I just poked it back in” sea I am so glad we don’t know each other in real life. Not sure I’d be able to look you in the face again after that!

I do hope all these prolapsing things get sorted though.

We were talking to a friend of ours who’s come over and has suggested “putting things up there” to strengthen our vaj’s. He has no idea. I told him what I was reading etc and the conversation evolved....

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2018 06:29

You can buy vaginal weights so he's not a million miles out on that.

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/04/2018 06:57

Gosh! I had no idea about any of this prolapse stuff. I will work hard at my machine and report back if it works.

Thanks for the education Christmas, I really think we all ought to know about this stuff, and if there weren't people like you who have the balls to explain it, then we'd all be worse off. Well done!

I have discovered that my dh can play the cello and that that is quite sexy. Why does he not tell me these things? 15 years together and now he mentions it.

SnugglySnerd · 14/04/2018 07:14

Poke it back in! You are braver than me. I'd have probably gone to a&e!

When I was pregnant with the dts I had a big rubber ring fitted. It was to support my cervix to reduce risk of premature labour because of all the extra weight pressing on it. Apparently they are often used for prolapse. Having it fitted bloody hurt though!

ememem84 · 14/04/2018 07:33

Wow. snuggly I didn’t even know that was a thing. “They” should tell us about this sort of thing really.

I hate nursery. Ds has, in the last few days, learned to “sing”. All day yesterday - “ay ay ay ay ay ay” And started again at 6am. Le sigh.

Today is dsis’ big birthday. So dparents are treating us all for fancy breakfast at hotel which does the best breakfast buffet. Do I have bacon sausages eggs/ pancakes and waffles/ pastries/fruit (the fruit buffet is insanely good) or all of the above?!??

Then riding £27.

Then dinner with family for dsis’ birthday. Yippee!

Ds is having two meals out.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/04/2018 07:39

All of it em.

Nsd planned today, we will see

Loveabaconsandwich · 14/04/2018 07:50

Grin seacow along with with your tiara wearing your actually a princess really I have such a hilarious picture of you now in my mind!

sunny will look forward to your reviews. I tried jumping on the DDs trampoline last summer and couldn’t for long Blush

So sorry to hear about your dad going downhill seacow. But glad he is accepting your visits, although difficult logistically for you.

I unfrugally-ish signed up to an anytime Ocado pass at £2.99 per month. Their meat is so much better, and with working more days I need the convenience of an online delivery 2 or 3 times a month. I do need to head to Lidl more often though as I want to get food budget under £100 per week.

em I’ve grown to love coffee shop trips and meals alone since going back to work/DC getting generally louder. It is nice to just be alone, in peace, with no one wanting anything from you. Especially true once DC stop taking naps.

No real plans for today. My favourite kind of day Smile

DP is yet to apply for the planning for the driveway...

Loveabaconsandwich · 14/04/2018 07:55

It would be rude not to have a bit of everything em . Happy big birthday to your Dsister 🎉

Hope you are ok quite and things get better now

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/04/2018 07:56

Does anybody else here take 150mg ranitidine by any chance? I do, and Boots has started stocking a different generic type, which doesn't seem to work as well on me. Pondering what to do about it.

ememem84 · 14/04/2018 07:56

love it was strange. I sat in coffee place and had my first coffee and cake and then felt incredibly naughty even thinking about having another coffee. But I still did!

I will eat as much breakfast as I can manage.

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/04/2018 08:06

Well done Em. That sounds good.

WreckTangled · 14/04/2018 08:11

Snuggly lots of older ladies have ring pessaries, they used to get them fitted when I was working at the surgery.

Em you have a cooked breakfast and then pancakes and fruit etc for dessert Wink enjoy!

I also struggle with trampolines Blush

Sunny theoretically it shouldn't make a difference but I have heard of this before. Maybe try another pharmacy's generic brand? Lloyd's pharmacy or something.

Ds has a haircut today and I need to do a food shop. Did a big one last week so shouldn't need much.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/04/2018 08:27

Morning all ☺ have woken up annoyingly early, my first chance of a lie in in ages and awake at 7 am! !

My mum has a prolapse and has been told to just do exercises, they don't like operating on them apparently. I'm hoping pilates will help with my pelvic floor.

Feeling a bit of a wreck atm, think I have a trapped nerve in my neck which is causing pain all down my left arm and also realised this week that I'm deaf in my right ear 😣 need to try and fit in a Dr's appointment at some point.

Not liking the news this morning that we are going to bomb Syria 😟
