Yes wolf he is Grin all 8kg of him.

This morning we're going out for breakfast, the dc have been really good these last few days so we're going to the harvester yum! Then to collect food shopping, get fuel and car washed. Then dh wants to go to bunnings and wickes to get some decorating bits. So fairly busy. All the snow has gone apart from ds' snowman.

LonelyOversharer · 04/03/2018 07:17

We've had a bit more overnight, and its snowing now, but nothing like before. We had to take a lot of big icicles off last night, as they have pulled off next doors and my conservatories guttering (popped off, thankfully not broken).

The dogs woke me. Apparently I'm the only one in the house with ears. How on earth do the dc sleep through it? Anyway, they have been out and fed. So one job out of the way. And my cat is devouring aldi cat food, the individual patè trays (100g for 21p vs 85g for 33p for his usual), as I forgot the gourmet in Morrisons.

ememem84 · 04/03/2018 07:19

wreck oooh harvester breakfast!!! We don’t have one here but I used to love going when I was a kid when we visited family.

girlie wardrobe looks lovely.

nofilter I don’t have a system. Apart from the “do I need to make this spend” I’m wary of ynab as don’t you have to pay for it? Correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve only seen a subscription one which sort of smacks me as unfrugal.

Once we’ve moved and have new house etc I’ll need to get back on top of spends. For now though, I suspect moving is going to be expensive. And we will be staying with my parents so can save a bit there.

Once we sell I have to speak to the bank to get us a premier account. All the sales proceeds from our flat will jump into our account so we’ll have a few weeks where the account will have a gazillion numbers. So we need to make that work for us. Earn us a bit more interest.

Em they're the best. The dc love it too because the continental is all you can eat and has things they're not allowed at home (coco pops!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2018 07:28

A bit more snow here too. Forecast all day today too.

Cute pic em.
Love the wardrobe girlie.
Good luck with the jobs lonely. My dh retirement job is a supermarket delivery driver.

Possibly shoes today for DC. Dd bought a game card that wouldn't work so back to sainsbury today. Have a list of what dh forgot too.
Might go to dunhelm for chairs too (saved for)

mammymammyIRL · 04/03/2018 07:35

Em ooh you'll be short term very rich Grin
Lonely great saving with the Aldi cat food

We had a prowler before 8pm last night, won't be leaving my car on to defrost for work tomo am, will have to sit in it Sad

Girlie wardrobe looks great
Wreckcat as always is amazing *
Em* ds is getting so big

Lonely both jobs sound achievable but care job would be fabulous for you & might make dp buck up a bit. If he did his ten hours and you got one of the jobs ye would be in a much better place financially. Hope maintenance comes through too though

Meadow I'd hold off on dog for a while. When dd was a few days old our dog had pups so I'd 2 dogs, 6 pups and a baby to look after. Dogs definitely get sidelined when there's a baby in the house too.

mammymammyIRL · 04/03/2018 07:36

Breakfast sounds great at harvester! Is there one in Edinburgh, thinking ahead to holiday in July. Wonder if we'll all go together or what will happen. It's paid for.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2018 07:37

Have you stopped house hunting for now em or are your still looking?

I go for a note book no filter or an excel spreadsheet. Low tech here

ememem84 · 04/03/2018 07:39

Yep mammy short term. Woop. I’m going to take a pic of my bank account once it’s “full” haha

Hope you’re doing ok today. I hate sitting in the defrosting car but I suppose there’s no other option for you is there if there was a suspected prowler?

Today’s jobs - wash and pack up soft furnishings (except bedding). So throws cushions etc. And towels. All but two big towels. And also start packing away clothes. I can survive on a capsual wardrobe short term at dparents. Must also pack a weeks worth of work clothes. Just in case we haven’t moved before I head back.

Nofilter whichever method you use listing all known & foreseen & possibly unexpected expenses is important.
Like car breakdowns happen, what electrical equipment is getting old, annual bills. I put away money towards back to school, woodpellets, Christmas, children's birthdays, and next years communion every week/child benefit day. If we borrow out of it for something we need now, the amount increases to pay it back

mammymammyIRL · 04/03/2018 07:43

Em I have a heated windscreen so it'll only be maybe 2 mins

ememem84 · 04/03/2018 07:55

Oooh. I found out the other day our car has heated seats. We’ve had car since 2010....

I’m in bed with a cuppa. Dh and ds are still sleeping. Hoorah.

Mammy I expect there is. There's harvesters most places. Premier inn also have a great breakfast.

ememem84 · 04/03/2018 08:04

Oh the premier inn breakfasts are good too!!!

There’s a hotel here which only does buffet food. We went a while back for their Friday fish buffet. If. Was. Awesome. But their breakfast buffets are insane. You can’t go up more than 3 times though. But there is so so so much choice

I avoid when there are breakfast seminars held there. Because no time for a decent breakfast. What’s the point in a buffet and waffle station if you have to eat on your lap?!

Just googled wreck there isn't Sad

ememem84 · 04/03/2018 08:38

life we’ve temporarily stopped looking until ours is sold. We won’t be taken seriously by estate agents or vendors if we’re not proper cash buyers.

I’m looking on websites though and the good news is more is coming on each day so we should get something fairly quickly.

Girlie love the wardrobe. Dd has an old pine wardrobe of ours & a chest of drawers which need painting, think it may be an Easter holiday project.
Great picture Em
Sil & family leave today. It's been lovely having them, but it'll be nice to have the house back. They loved their night away & we had a great time with dnephew. We usually travel quite a lot, visiting family & friends, but as ds has got his GCSEs coming up we have no plans for at least the next 3 months. I'm really looking forward to that time at home and catching up with things.

ememem84 · 04/03/2018 08:43

My aim is to still be moved by the time I go back to work. May 1. So it could in theory happen.

Initially I wanted to be moved in and settled. But now I’d be happy for it to pass contract on the Friday and me go back to work the following Monday! (28 April and work 1 May!)

Our old nosy bugger neighbour has just knocked on our door. He can hear the new upstairs neighbours and is so annoyed. He’s a bugger who shouted at me the other day for putting rubbish in the outside bin. Hmm I took great pleasure in telling him new neighbours have twins.

This annoys me when I owe on cc it's green and when I'm in credit it's red. That's on purpose isn't it?

north I used furniture paint called rust-oleum which you can get at most diy places, would recommend it.

I'm still in bed, going to go over and see my mum today think she is feeling a bit cut off due to the snow, the roads look pretty good now.

Wolfcub · 04/03/2018 08:51

I use the list/reminder function on the iPhone for monthly budgets. I didn’t get along with any budget apps I tried and a spreadsheet version only worked for me for a short while. The portability of having it on the phone helps. All standard expenditures monthly/annual are on there. Each month I mark the item complete as it’s paid. At the start of a new month I unmark monthly items and set a food budget recording any extra spends that are anticipated that month. The food budget has to flex to account for these at the moment to make sure we stay in credit.

A bit of snow here overnight but now due to rain later. Ds has a performance this morning so not sure he will get chance to sledge after if it rains. I need to do some very exciting ironing

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/03/2018 08:57

nofilter at the start of each month I write down all the direct debits going out, everything else I know that is going out for the month, then look at what's left and divvy it up!

Most months there are extras ie bdays, school trips, easter, decorating.... so I budget as much as possible to avoid using savings.

QuiteCleanBandit · 04/03/2018 10:00

I think Ive mentioned it before but I use the Thriv app for saving.
I have longterm savings,Christmas,holidays,general pot,etc
You can set goals and add to it each month.
The actual money is moved by DD into various accounts .

Hello all, not currently caught up. Unfortunately my mum died on Friday night.

She was supposed to be coming on holiday with us on March 30. So many things to do as a result. Tomorrow one sister and I are going to see the funeral director. We also need an appointing with the hospital bereavement office to collect her death certificate. She hasn't been well all winter, but we really didn't expect this to get the outcome.

Em with regards to the Psoriatic arthritis, it may be that the Psoriasis will follow. I have Psoriasis, my mum had both Paoriatic and Rheumatoid arthritis. I have had sone problems I gave been ignoring that are almost certainly arthritis and as my toe now hurts continuously, I also need to follow this up.

Spends today £143 online at M&S. I ordered 4 dresses for the funeral, only plan on keeping one, maybe 2; I also ordered a back cardigan. I got 2 cardigans for Christmas, an amazing grape coloured one, hoping the ordered black one is the same, if not, it can go back too. I made use of the 20% off weekend offer
