I've always had a bit of trouble with this lamp. I find it quite impossible to read by. Also please note the dust on said item. Shows how little it gets used as is a pointless item

Your sofa and cushions look lovely laska

He is now fixing telly to wall.. (cue swearing). I'm now worried that it may be a bit too dark in there to see properly!

Laska5772 · 02/03/2018 10:38

Agree lonely i also have one of these somewhere.. Totally useless!

I also often still feel bereft as DS (27) now has his own flat and I was a terribly sad 'empty nester' for some years and still am sometimes especially when he is feeling unhappy or some things not going well for him .. but I have found that the bereft feeling doesn't last that long once he has been back to visit for a few days and the socks are creeping out of the room again !! Grin

You guys talk fast! Haven’t caught up yet. Not so cold today, although TBF I haven’t ventured downstairs yet. Having a gallbladder attack. As if this week could get any crazier, FFS. I haven’t had one since the two I had 23/28 days post birth. So that’s a bit odd. Apparently 3 attacks make you eligible for removal. But I’ve taken the medication I was given after the second one, and actually it’s really really helped. I’m aware of it but it’s not agony! I still need a GP appt so will talk about it then.

That is indeed where I live notmrs and thank you, we do have electric plug in things already but it’s very kind of you to offer. Thanks The cold is past its peak here now apparently.

Raynauds of the nipple 😱😱😱 bloody hell that must be awful. Package arrived as well thank you so much, sorry I didn’t say yesterday 💐

So our crazy week also included a trip to hospital. We were on the bus and the driver (this particular one has form for being a bit speedy) went round the roundabout so fast the buggy actually tipped over! It’s a really good sturdy buggy too, but even DH couldn’t stop it. Cagletini was fine, we got her checked out as another passenger (who nearly fell herself) said she thought her neck was at a funny angle, and also we couldn’t see if she’d hit her head. But she charmed the socks off all the doctors and was perfectly happy. Receptionist said there have been lots of bus injuries lately, just that morning they’d had an elderly lady who’d fallen and broken their wrist on the bus because of bad driving. WTF! 😡

Yesterday I had my World Book Day party and it went really well! Proud I put that all together, it was bigger than last year and by bizarre coincidence we had someone quite well known come along as their child is between schools, and they read out a bit of one of their books and did some stuff on stage with the kids. So cool! I more than covered my costs too, including craft materials, so I priced it right. Really pleased.

Hopefully staying in today, obviously cancelled sports club and thankfully ballet is cancelled as the teacher lives pretty far. DH still hasn’t heard from the charity about the firewalk he’s supposed to be doing tonight. They’d said they may cancel.

Not much spending apart from the fridge, £130 delivered.

WreckTangled · 02/03/2018 11:30

Wow cag that's cool! Sorry you're feeling rough again.

I'm making soup for lunch, leek and potato

LonelyOversharer · 02/03/2018 11:39

Dp has set off again. Hoping the cars have been moved from the road. Once you get 3 or 4 miles down it's quite low lying and should be fine. If the road is clear. He got 2.5 miles yesterday.

I've been drinking the ver posh pukka peppermint and licorice tea (got 2 boxes eons ago when I spent at will). It's very nice, and makes a change from coffee (now run out bar dolce gusto pods, but no milk).

I do hope he brings my dd home. Even though she'll be all shruggy and 'whatever'. I bloody miss her!

LonelyOversharer · 02/03/2018 11:53

Just had 2 hgv wagons pass with police livery and "Bay search and rescue, all terrain specialist search" emblazoned on the side. I hope whoever thaey are going to find are ok. Plus the road from Cumbria must be open. They were heading towards the hills.

mammymammyIRL · 02/03/2018 12:05

My dsis sent me on discount code for revive active supplement and they had krill oil supplement for free with it, saved me €8 on what I was planning on buying and krill oil is worth €19.75.

Lifelong sorry jacket is following you around the Internet Grin I'm waiting on customer service to come back & tell me if I order two sizes will they ensure discount applies to size I keep before I order.

Haven't worn this hiking stuff since the one mountain climb I did but they came in very handy today, cosy & warm

How come the matching lamp is not a lamp laska ?

Ridiculous conditions here! There is now a thick crust of ice on top of about 20 cm of snow 😨 it means you can't even do any fun stuff with the snow like sledge or build snow men! Dd is fed up, I couldn't get into work so am working from home...

em although that woman at your work is clearly bonkers I do have sympathy for her, not sure what the answer is though!

WreckTangled · 02/03/2018 12:48

Girlie what work can you do from home? Just notes and stuff? The snow is heavy here again

ememem84 · 02/03/2018 13:05

I think girlie the answer would be for her to apply for unpaid leave and not make a song and dance about it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2018 13:30

Yeah but where's the fun in that though Em? Grin

I've ordered a 2.25kg gammon joint, unsmoked. The idea is I'll have it the nights dh has things I'm allergic to. Do I cook it in water or just put it in the slow cooker?.

I can't cook it in things like cola due to allergies.

Can I save the water for soups?.

mammymammyIRL · 02/03/2018 13:33

Fluffy I just put into slow cooker on its own and leave it on for about 8-10 hours. There will be a few inches of liquid when it finishes, that is very salty. I like it in my soup but no one else does in my house

WreckTangled · 02/03/2018 13:38

I usually do mine in the oven

LonelyOversharer · 02/03/2018 13:50

fluffy the last couple of times I've done a gammon joint, I've stuck it in the slow cooker with a tomato based stew (onion, tin of toms, pasatta, peppers, sweet potatoes, sad veg), then added some beans and lentils for the last bit. So getting a stew, and when watered down, a tasty soup for later on. As the meat doesn't fall apart I just hoick it out and either slice for sarnies etc, or cube for the stew.

On it's own I find the water too salty, but I usually get smoked bits.

I have my dd1 home! She allowed me to hug her too. Dp got powdered milk, no fresh milk available. So he's made up 4 pints and shoved it in the fridge. So far no-one has noticed. We have dealt with a 4' long, 6" diameter icicle hanging over the conservatory roof by putting a piece of old mdf (buried in snow in the skip) under it, and shooting it with the air rifle! At least it won't go through the glass roof now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/03/2018 15:04

Catching up, good to see you back creme. How you doing?

mammymammyIRL · 02/03/2018 15:07

Woo hoo creme is back Grin

AdoraBell · 02/03/2018 15:51

Yay for DD home and hugs Lonely

Cag so glad Cagletini is okay

fluffy I would do slow cooker.

Spent a fiver today on coffees. I help a couple you feed the homeless/in need for whatever reason. I wouldn’t have gone out otherwise. They do it daily, I help them hand out food on Fridays. Not many of the regulars arrived today, most of them are in a nearby shelter, next town. DH met me, I was frozen despite layers and good coat, so was very pleased to see a coffee shop open 👍 only the high street is open, everything else is closed.

My mother had Raynauds, and my sister has it. Luckily I swerved it, but I do really feel the cold.

Hope everyone is keeping warm.

ememem84 · 02/03/2018 16:09

Good news. Sort of. The apartment above me has sold today!!

Bad news (for the rest of the building who were adamant that no one with kids would ever live here again) the buyer has twins...

I’m trying to get in touch with our lawyer to see what the state of play is for us next week.

Seller of upstairs popped round just now with boxes and bubble wrap. Tons of the stuff. Hoorah!!

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 02/03/2018 16:15

That's good news em
Pleased dd is back lonely
I do SC with water then use the water for split pea and ham soup. Or brown sugar in the bottom and sit gammon on top

Dd is refusing ballet as it's not fun anymore. She wants to horse ride instead. Not sure how to play this one tbh.

Wolfcub · 02/03/2018 16:34

Good news on the flat sale Em hopefully that means positive things for your sale

Took my engagement ring to the Jewellers for repair, will be a minimum of £75. The car needs £140 of work too so I am somewhat unimpressed with the unexpected expenditures

Went out to lunch with ds and dh once I’d finished work. I agreed I would only work the morning with ds at home

SnugglySnerd · 02/03/2018 16:47

I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to live next door to twins Em. They hardly make any noise at all Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/03/2018 17:13

We will be living next door to twins soon. Very exciting and happy but very thin walls between us

Moanranger · 02/03/2018 17:29

Em Re-colleague-WTAF. Who does she think will pay into NI when she is Old & gray & drawing her pension? Your kids! From a macroeconomic viewpoint( ahem, puts on the hat of pomposity) a Society needs a birthdate in excess of 2 to ensure replacement workers to pay into the system, or else you end up with Japan. People only think of themselves!
LO love your icicle disposal method-yeehaw!
NSD - one advantage of crap weather. Also did my monthly spend analysis £200 on food shopping, way down from last year where it was £450. £200 is realistically low ( although I could be like that Martin Lewis lady who follows the markdown staff around at Asda 30 min before closing on Sun & spends £1.87 a week - life is too short, methinks!)
Indulging in heat on all day today after yesterday - feels nice, but back to the programme tomorrow

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2018 17:52

Our asda does crap markdowns, and Morrisons. Tesco is the best. That's a brilliant yearly saving regardless.

I'm sure she missed you too lonely, it's just not cool to say so.

I'll do sc, so I can leave it in the utility with the fan on, and a tiny bit of water so it's not too salty.

nsd.
