Here for 28 NSD and counting how much is left at the end of the month

Last two days have only spent on food and drink. Took DS out using membership card/subscription and Merlin Pass so no entrance fees to pay. Just got us lunch out yesterday and drinks today. Still within our monthly budget so all good.

Feeling chuffed as have got nearly £40 a month off our TV/Broadband/Phone package and our new mortgage fixed rate is over £100 less a month. Will be able to get some much needed home improvements done with money we will be saving.

NSD today.

I've been to the library and chosen 3 books, am about to make myself a cup of coffee and read for an hour or so.

I resisted the urge to do any shopping or go for a coffee whilst I was in town, I have a lovely nespresso machine at home so don't need to buy coffee!

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 16/02/2018 14:50

February just became even more rubbish! The boiler broke. Angry
Four hundred pounds ish to fix and they serviced it at the same time.
Fingers crossed that the rest of the month will be low spend and March will be better!

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/02/2018 20:12

Mama I wouldn't pay that fine, there's lots on mse about getting them cancelled.

They always say it's an invoice not a fine.

Me too! £3000 to put in a new one - so only one thing for it - PIZZA

Gah81 · 17/02/2018 07:51

£60 for cat's insulin syringes. Ah well - definitely a necessity.

Just under a week until payday though :)

mamapants · 17/02/2018 07:53

Have you checked if you can get funding in your area for boiler? I'm always getting phone calls about free boilers- ni idea what the eligibility criteria is though.

madamefraser · 17/02/2018 09:41

Uhh boilers breaking - that really sucks !
I've had a bad money week - the credit card got paid off in full for some strange reason .. I think DH set it up wrongly Angry& charges I wasn't expecting on DD1s phone contract which were my fault ( though I argued them down !) as I hadn't used her PAK code within 30 days... I didn't even know that was a thing ..
So into overdraft but a no spend March is on the cards obviously ...

Littlechocola · 17/02/2018 10:39

A couple of NSD for me as I’ve been super busy at work. Maybe no time to spend is the way to go!

GreenTulips · 17/02/2018 11:09

Thanks - I have looked for schemes for boilers. It found no funding where we are (although lotsbin the U.K.!)

Managed to get the cost down to £2400 fully installed rather than the first quote of our regular plumber of £3000 plus VAT. More suprising was the the local big company was in the middle - expected them to be a lot more expensive!!

Hey HO! Saved on the service this year

mamapants · 17/02/2018 17:34

That's a pain tulips
Bank balance is looking fairly good this month. Should be able to save a decent amount, making up for the past few months of no savings.
I going to try and keep going all year I think. Obviously not no frivolous spending at all but to make an effort to stick to budgets and make savings.

Gah81 · 17/02/2018 18:18

Think it goes without saying that I am up for a no spend March! Wow, the months are going by quickly. Had to visit relatives today so £9 on a train ticket but walked from the station there and back so saved money that way. Now back home for a no-spend (early) Saturday evening!

Just the food shop today and managed to stick to the list. Makes up for the spending yesterday on a new vacuum cleaner, furniture for hallway and random Ikea purchases.

chickenowner · 18/02/2018 08:45

A very successful frugal day yesterday.

Parked for free a 10 minutes walk out of the city - so no cost plus a little bit of extra exercise.

I needed to buy a birthday present, then remembered that I have a gift card with £50 still on it , so used £30 of that in John Lewis.

Then I used my John Lewis 'free hot drink and cake voucher' in the cafe.

Then I used one of my free cinema tickets (I get a few free tickets when I renew my annual membership to my local arts cinema).

I brought a drink and snack with me from home to have in the cinema so no extra spending required.

Hurrah!

And a NSD today - going to a birthday party.

Smile
Chimichangaz · 18/02/2018 09:15

Yesterday most definitely not a NSD. Started the day breaking my little toe on the leg of the bed so spent money in Boots on arnica, tape and a protective tube. Then more money (and points) on a foot file, body brush and hair product. Also a present for a friend, plus a (planned) beauty treatment. Home insurance up for renewal but shopped around and got a cheaper price than renewal, plus cash back which means I made £25. Not bad for an hours work. And the insurance was budgeted for in YNAB (mostly, just had to increase by £6) so that was all good too. Did my online shop at Tesco for today and managed to spend 0.35 over the minimum £40 basket charge - I am wondering how I regularly managed to spend £60+ every week by physically going shopping!

Today will be a spendy day as meeting friends for dinner before watching our sports team

Chimi! Ouch! You needed treats after hurting yourself.

We got our first deleted comment!

I spent £9 on rubbish but I was really hungry.

ivykaty44 · 18/02/2018 17:48

Feel like I've gone a bit off track! Needed a new toilet seat which led to a trip to B and Q. Should have just bought what was needed but ended up spending £10 in the cafe on drinks and snacks. Back to work tomorrow so this will help with NSDs.

Gah81 · 18/02/2018 19:06

Bought food for the week today - and also a new kitchen (!) (this was planned expenditure).

So ESOD today. Have made my breakfasts and lunches for the week. Hopefully tomorrow will be a NSD.

madamefraser · 18/02/2018 19:35

NSD today but only as I have been too ill to go out Confused

mamapants · 18/02/2018 20:06

I spent about £7 at the co-op today and have just ordered multi packs of birthday cards. Works out cheaper and I don't have to make a trip out ahead of the endless birthday parties. Bit that was £15, shouldn't need any for a good while though.
