fluffy I know they are tracking your every move by doing so, but some of the extra points vouchers on the Sainsbury’s shops are great. I only use them if I would buy the stuff anyway but still. I’m waiting for the CC to come for millions of pointsSmile

needastrongone · 03/11/2017 16:42

Brill haul of points btw.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/11/2017 16:48

It's the e rewards surveys, I rarely spend over a fiver in there.

Laska We knew a chap who got made redundant weeks before he retired. They knew he was retiring too. It was batshit crazy.

love Well done.

need Welcome to Cambridge! Thinking about it properly, I think you probably want the Grand Arcade, which is next to John Lewis. They have all the proper fashion shops there like Boden and whathaveyou. It's so full of fashion it makes my eyes roll. If you really get carried away, they have a Tesla showroom and an Apple store. #Enabling

The even fancier fashion is on Bridge Street opposite Magdalene College.

The Guy Falkes fireworks are at 7pm on Midsummer Common on Saturday night if you're still here.

General advice here is don't walk across the parks after dark, and if you want to give money to beggars, give it to the charities that help them instead, which are Jimmy's Night Shelter and Winter Comfort.

Otherwise, knock yourself out and have a nice time.

Go to the Grand Arcade....
Lovely clothes...

WreckTangled · 03/11/2017 16:57

Lonely we do the same with Christmas dinner too.

Ended up spending £8 in the local shop as needed cheese, milk and coffee. Going food shopping tomorrow.

SnugglySnerd · 03/11/2017 16:58

Thanks for the snack ideas. They like pancakes.
I gave them avocado today. DD was a big fan. Ds cried! First thing he's ever refused so I guess he doesn't like it!

I am tempted by the space pjs too Sunny!

WreckTangled · 03/11/2017 16:59

Em can you feed ds whilst he’s asleep? Clever stuff but it does work.

Thanks everyone. It’s really motivating me to be frugal. Hopefully it lasts...

Laska5772 · 03/11/2017 17:08

em where are you going this evening? I remember ts a date night but what sort of restuarant?

We are having H/M 'Singapore' --aka IOW- noodles with chicken and prawns plus lots of veg ( and hot sauce) Le Yum..

DH has promised a long walk and lunch out tomorrow Grin

I am really fed up with my family right now (not my DH, DCs or ILs who are all great) .. I cant really tell you why but I'm sure i will be at some point soon. (but think estranged members of the family, people dying about to die/Wills etc , people keeping secrets or spouting them, and telling half stories with justifications and rewriting the past and me getting it from all sides.. .. All very dramatic ( actually al very mundane/tedious but with potential to cause huge upsets )..

Anyway . I need to go out, spend some money and * them all !!

Laska5772 · 03/11/2017 17:11

And we WONT be eating the noodles on the sofa in front of the telly .. (DH has spoken!Grin) .... although Dcat has been on it already but Dh doesnt know this

SunnyLikeThursday · 03/11/2017 17:12

Dying and wills seem to bring on such a lot of trouble Laska. Sorry to hear you're in the thick of it.

needastrongone · 03/11/2017 17:20

Thanks sunny tried to ignore the enabling and just click on the fireworks link but failedGrin. Fab that the display is free (notwithstanding a donation). I’m looking forward to having a wander round, I’ve annoyingly got to get some cards and a present otherwise I would genuinely ignore the shops. Actual truth!

May I ask a question about parking? The class is at the Sidgewick Site (law faculty). We are staying at a hotel just out site Cambridge, about 13 minutes away according to Google. Am I best leaving the car here and using park and ride or a taxi or driving?

MeadowHay · 03/11/2017 17:22

Hi ladies, I've been lurking on and off even when I'm not posting, but I don't have anything to say anymore at all except for whining about how sick I feel Sad. I been doing ok-ish, I mean I was being sick 15+ times a day pre-hosp and now it's more like 5 times a day but then last night before bed I had an awful uncontrollable bout. Nothing today so far but then I've hardly eaten and feel so weak Sad. I've joined the HG thread in the Pregnancy section which makes me feel less lonely but then also makes me scared as the ladies there all suffered awful til around 14 weeks and didn't really get much relief til about the 20 week mark which is aaaaaaaaaaages away so I am feeling down...

On the plus side, DH has a job interview, and all my days are NSDs given I'm spending all day every day sleeping and intermittently laying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself...

Laska Wills are always such a pain in families! DH's DGM died about 10 years ago and we still don't know if she left a will or not, and the house she left is still uninhabited but used as a dumping ground by MIL...it's all very bizarre but nobody will confront her about it because they don't want to start a huge shitstorm!

Em Enjoy your date night hon Smile. It is well deserved, it's lovely of your parents to babysit too.

Welcome to Cag's friend and any other newbies, I am Meadow and I have HG so will probably just moan about being sick for the forseeable future I'm afraid.

Laska Enjoy your dinner too! Sounds yum.

Re: Christmas, we're supposed to be hosting Xmas day dinner for my parents, DB and DS except now I have HG I may still be too sick by then to host, so I really can't start ordering food or anything in case it goes to waste :/ plus we don't have much storage space anyway and it's not like we would have tons of guests so not that big a deal, plus DM said she would bring the drinks (my family don't drink for religious reasons) as well as the desserts. We'll see, it would be our first time hosting so I was really looking forward to it.

SunnyLikeThursday · 03/11/2017 17:23

Need Rush hour travel is hellish here. Would you be willing to tell me where you are-ish and I can get you exact travel plans?

SunnyLikeThursday · 03/11/2017 17:27

need Next on the list after the Grand Arcade is Fitzbillies cafe for a chocolate mouse. Much more modestly priced. Then the King's College Chapel. Very cheap. Then through Emmanuel College to see the ducks by the pond and have a quiet sit.

There's too much to do here. I have no idea what to recommend really.

Loveabaconsandwich · 03/11/2017 17:27

Hope you have a great date night em

DD2 has been an absolute horror on the school run. I can’t even fess up here what happened on the drive home and still feeling rather stressed

I have a date with a bubble bath tonight and an M&S meal deal

Spends
£20 dentist
£19 B&M- I only went in for 2x £1 advent calendars Blush
£40 Tesco
£15 M&S

Hello newbies

Glad you booked the holiday wreck

needastrongone · 03/11/2017 17:34

Great, I love the sound of Chapel and College, I could call the chocolate mouse carb loading for a race Sunday...

Impington, which I hope isn’t outing me! That’s very kind thank you. I don’t mind driving, but not if it’s going to be an absolute pain and not worth it. This is our first ever visit so I know nothing.

WreckTangled · 03/11/2017 17:37

Ah meadow please keep posting even if it’s to moan! We like to know how you’re doing. Good news for you dp Smile

Em I hope you have a fabulous evening and don’t feel to squiffy after a glass or two of wine Wink

SunnyLikeThursday · 03/11/2017 18:17

need Yes that's a tricky route. It depends on what you like and don't like in transport.

If you like buses then you could probably just get one from Impington to the centre of cambridge, but it's likely to take a long time, with much stop-start traffic, unless you leave quite early, like 7am.

The other option maybe is to drive but also leave early in the morning (again like 7am) and just drive straight down the Histon Road into the city centre and park at one of the big multi-storey car parks. A whole day costs about £25.

The list of car parks is here:
en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/park_street/cb5/cambridge/?arriving=201711031830&leaving=201711032030

A lot of people take a chance and try to park free on residential streets. You may get lucky if you just drive around a little bit north of the Victoria Road area. Tbh, though, if it was me and I was on a special trip like this, I'd probably just head straight for Park Street car park and pay for the day. The you can enjoy yourself.

I'm not totally sure when the traffic gets difficult. I used to drive at 9.30 and the inbound roads were still log-jammed at that point. I'm not sure how early you need to go to avoid it though. Maybe the people where you're staying would know?

Another fun idea is to drive to the outskirts of the city and walk in. I know you like a good stretch of the legs and Cambridge is a tiny city really. If you drove to Coton you could then easily walk to town. That would be a lovely walk too. I can't post links here, but google maps will show you the walking route. It's listed as a 45 minute walk, but I have an idea that you would quite enjoy that. It's proper lovely countryside there.

Sorry that it's complicated. Cambridge is kind of Boom-Town economically at the moment, which is why we're here, but the transport systems are still constrained by the medieval structure of the city and things are really difficult for people getting into the city.

I hope you have a good day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/11/2017 18:20

love As long as you bought her home your still winning.

I stuffed up my pact coffee subscription. I now have two bags coming seperately for £8. Not one for £1.

Balls.

Loveabaconsandwich · 03/11/2017 18:29

She’s just thrown a huge tantrum and taken herself upstairs. Silence now, hopefully she is asleep as she is not being a nice child! She put me off my dinner Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/11/2017 18:31

Is she going down with a cold?.

SunnyLikeThursday · 03/11/2017 18:34

I've had a sore throat for a week and now I've got a tummy upset. That doesn't seem seem really fair. I think there should be a rule about having only one bodily malfunction at a time.

Loveabaconsandwich · 03/11/2017 18:42

Admittedly she is tired (but tantrums wear her out). But we have a theory that her poor behaviour may come from spending time with my parents who over indulge, have no rules and offered her the tablet before I even left their house their morning. She spent two hours there whilst I went to the dentist and food shopped. Everyone else- us, childminder and nursery have rules. Hmmm Confused . I think she won’t go there next week and we will see if her Friday behaviour improves!

Cagliostro · 03/11/2017 18:43

Aw moan away meadow it must be utterly miserable. TBH I have whinged more than enough on here!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/11/2017 18:47

Hi all, thanks for the new thread Lonely

Poor you meadow I wasn't as bad as you but still had quite severe morning sickness (felt sick all of the time, was sick several times a day) but it all stopped at exactly 12 weeks, like some one flicked a switch. Hope the same happens for you.

Welcome newbies.

Love Gin sounds like a tough evening, had something happened at school to put dd in a bad mood? My dd could be like a coiled spring after school if she had had a bad day, would have a complete meltdown at pick up and it would come out later that something had happened to wind her up/ upset her.

Snuggly i struggle with being around anyone for too long and kids are more intense x 1000 and for you thats x 3 so completely understandable that you would feel the need for some alone time!!!

Enjoy date night Em can't believe how big your ds has got already!! Dd got to 10lbs at 10 weeks Grin she was tiny for ages, totally made up for it ever since though Wink

I have had a busy day at work, one of those days where nothing has been straight forward. Not helped by having a headache all afternoon, spent £2.50 on some co-codomol for the bad head but no other spends.

Dd has bought home a letter about a school trip to London to watch 2 musicals £200 Shock they want an £80 deposit by the end of the month, have talked to my mum and she has agreed to help me out again so annoying they spring these things on you though.
