I want a Bloody Mary now.. no hangover . in fact I've not had a drink all a week ( very slightly less tarnished Halo / burning martyr emoticon ) ..

It wont last but DH is on antibiotics so he wont be drinking over the weekend so I might see if I can stick to it

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 11:35

Thats how I started Laska and felt so good Ive been teetotal for the past couple of years -all the anxiety symptons my GP put down to perimenopause disappeared and I realised alcohol doesnt agree with me.
I did have a few weeks where I tried it again but I felt so ill I got straight back on the wagon.
I do feel like Im an oddity to some people but most are happy that they get my shareGrin

I haven't managed to read back the last page or so, but we're having a hilarious time here.

The people who were meant to dig our water pipe trench gave up and went home and a new firm stepped in. They have now laid the water pipe and had it passed by the water company, but they found that the first company had put a spade through our "soil" pipe.

Now if we flush the loo, then trench fills with water coming directly from the toilet. The new company are being very good and sending lots of very able looking blokes with determined looks on their faces.

I'm taking ds to the pub for lunch so we don't complicate their lives by flushing the toilet. Fun fun fun.

SnugglySnerd · 19/10/2017 12:49

Sunny that sounds like a nightmare. You are much calmer than I would be in that situation. Pub lunch definitelythe way to go.

Em I've never tried Malbec. Should I?

Having a difficult day with tired grumpy babies. I might brave the torrential rain in a minute and get them out for a while.

sunny what a nightmare. Pub seems to be the best option! Enjoy lunch and report back on the food I love a pub lunch me

snuggly in my opinion an Argentinian Malbec with a lovely rare steak (with a pepper sauce, chips and squeaky beans (mange touts with butter and garlic)) is the best thing in the world. We had a lovely one for Christmas - don David I think it was...

Dh and I had plans to go to Argentina for a month next year (this was before we knew about dh). We were going to eat steak from the bbqs in Buenoa aires and learn to tango. We were going to do a wine tour. We were going to watch polo. We were going to stay on a ranch and ride with the gauchos. We were going to spend all our money at seven fires (best steak restaurant in the world apparently) then do a cruise to Antarctica. This trip is on hold until ds is either old enough to appreciate it, or is at uni, or doesn’t want to go with us, or we hit 50. Whichever is the earliest!

Dm popped in and insisted on taking a basket of ironing with her. She was super insistent. Who am I to say no..:

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 13:20

Has anyoone got a recipe for pasta -mushroomy and cheesy appeal right now.
Super busy again today and want a quick /cheap dinner.
I have dried Porcini but going out so could get other types

ememem84 · 19/10/2017 13:27

pink when I was a poor starving student we used to make a pasta bake with a ton of veggies add a can of Campbell’s mushroom soup as the sauce then whack a ton of cheese on top.

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 13:33

That sounds heavenly em
I loved a Malbec sob but it doesnt love me anymore and I just have to accept that .

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 13:35

Erm was hoping for something a teeny bit more refined em Grin

Laska5772 · 19/10/2017 13:57

Well, aint you posh pink! Grin How about lasagne?

Laska5772 · 19/10/2017 14:03

I also do a stuffed mushroom thingy with portobello mushrooms stuffed with mashed cannelloni beans herbs , onion, cheese and bits of chorizo. I bake them in a tomato sauce.. they are officially Le Yum! (in fact I may make then for tomorrow now )

Cant think where I got the recipe from but the idea is like this recipe. I

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 14:16

Not really Laska not as posh as you Grin
That stuffed mushroom recipe looks fabulous !

Laska5772 · 19/10/2017 14:32

Naw .. I'm a Pompey girl originally! you cant be posh and be from Pompey! .

Stuffed mushers are ace! I usually use cheddar (a nice strong one)if I am adding chorizo to the mix as above but also have made then with cheese /white beans/ sun dried toms and pesto, also with feta and roasted red peppers from a jar . Blue cheese and walnuts could be nice also

WreckTangled · 19/10/2017 14:48

I’ve got a headache and dd has swimming lessons at 5:30. It’s so hot poolside!

You have the worst luck Sunny. How rude of them not to even mention you've got a leaking soil pipe.

£2 pumpkin but I'm getting £2.60 back for it.
£14.50 8 bottles of cleansing oil. Should last me at least 9 months.
£4 soya milk

£3.50 refund on coffee beans. Bought them because I thought they were on offer on the shopmium app but they weren't & I'm not paying that for coffee beans.

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 15:22

Oooh where is the cleansing oil fromFluffy?
I double cleanse with oil to remove make up first .
Just off to grab some of those Aldi touche eclat knock offs -way better than the original.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/10/2017 15:29

It's "Simple" brand cleansing oil in sainsburys, it's usually £6-7 a bottle but it's £2 in there so I think it's a discontinued line.

Just put one bottle through first to see if you get a till spit voucher for £1.50 off a £15 spend. Then you can clear the shelf frugally.

LonelyOversharer · 19/10/2017 16:18

Nsd for me today. So far.

Caught up with work, and picked up this weeks.

I don't really drink now, but used to love Asti Spumanti (sp), could never drink dry stuff, even if it was ver posh and expensive. Cheap sweet fizz for me.

Those first builders sound like right cowboys sunny they were probably thrilled with the £150, beer money for a few days. They'd have probably undermined the house's foundations if you'd of let them go on any longer.

SnugglySnerd · 19/10/2017 16:23

Ooh I'm going to Aldi later. What are the touche eclat things called please?

I am so happy today. My last day of 'freedom' and it's been a crazy one but a reminder of how awesome the bunch of friends I have is.

One of the other mums recently got approved for fostering and got their first call today so we were all pitching in with lifts/childcare etc to help her get ready.

I have given her the spare Moses basket I hadn't returned to Amazon (I had ordered it, then found it cheaper elsewhere and couldn't cancel as 'already despatched'), she did offer something for it but it made me super happy to say no. Glad I could help in a small way :)

ememem84 · 19/10/2017 17:47

pink can’t help with anything posher I’m afraid. I loathe mushrooms. Eugh.

Went to garden centre. No spends. They had some lovely Christmas decorations. But nothing we needed.

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 19/10/2017 17:58

Thanks Fluffy will have a look.
Its the Lacura concealer pen -in the aisle od random stuff.I got Cashmere (for fair skin) Im classic english roseish /green eyes/mousey hair.
Confession- I got 4 more plus 3 BB cream and a mineral powder.
I have no idea why Aldi discontinued their make up and made it once/twice a year Sad
They did a perfect translucent powder in a lovely shiny pebble case.Nothing else has ever compared to that and I have tried everything since .

ChristmasSeacow · 19/10/2017 18:11

Sunny I'd be pretty cross with your first builders. Is it costing you extra to get it out right by the new guys?

Today's spends about £6 on a top up shop (fruit, bread) and £15 on joining Slimming World plus buying the magazine and some of their snack bars. I feel the time is right to get a grip but I need to find the time to properly meal plan (and then cook accordingly) as it goes pear shaped otherwise.

I really want to do some exercise too as I want to feel stronger, but my foot (plantar fasciitis) is really bad at the moment. I am pretty close to needing a stick or a crutch first thing in the morning. The last two nights DH has had to get out of bed to get DS for me when he cried as I couldn't stand up. Sad

Cagliostro · 19/10/2017 18:13

Oh that totally sucks about the foot pain :( one of my friends has that and it's miserable. Thanks

Package arrived today, was dashing out the door so will look through when home! Thank you so much Thanks

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/10/2017 18:44

Ouch that hurts a lot Christmas.
£16 .20 on drinks at lunch as stood my team a round.

Shit day all round but early night and tomorrow will be better
