Morning, finally some time.

Laska Families are so tricky. Which bag did you get?

Seacow Did you go back to the GP about DD?

How you feeling today Em?

JO falafels tasted good, but texture was a bit too soft and not crispy enough. I'm going to try Jack Monroe because the DC did really enjoy them.

If any of you have a John Lewis card, they've just sent me some offers. Usual free coffee etc. Also, a free 10 day Clinique foundation and Cleansing balm sample, for those that might be interested in that.

DD walked in on me and DH last night. I will say no more. I am not sure who was more mortified Grin.

needastrongone · 12/09/2017 08:22

Oh, and the Aldi Jo Malone dupes are really fab. Good for Christmas presents if you can get hold of them.

WreckTangled · 12/09/2017 08:24

Omg need!! ShockBlushShockBlush

needastrongone · 12/09/2017 08:25

Wheely I'm not really the most frugal person but your kitchen is sort of the hub of the home and your biggest spend. I think I'd save on other areas of the house personally. I still walk into our kitchen and grin, 6 years later and it still looks the same as it did then.

Cheap light fittings and furniture upstairs though Grin

needastrongone · 12/09/2017 08:26
Grin

I'm fine with it tbh, it's life isn't it? At 16 DD probably felt it more, but we had a good giggle about it afterwards, me and her!

Cagliostro · 12/09/2017 08:43

Oooops need 😱😂 I dread that and TBH it's one extra reason I am very grateful the melatonin is helping DD sleep 😳😳

At least she's more likely to remember to knock in future 😉

Comforting housemates and bad trips, all the Frugaleer secrets are coming out today 😂

Wheelycote · 12/09/2017 08:54

Cheers Need that's what I was thinking but it wasn't feeling like a very frugal thing to do lol

Laska5772 · 12/09/2017 08:55

wheely Id go for new sink.. really would its going to be such a prominent feature you will notice old one all the time.. theres a reasin it eas taken out , dont you think? Old ones make fab salad or herb raised beds .
need Why do you want to know?Grin.. It was the Anais bag.. should be comong today .. excited squee Shock about dd! But then she needs to know parents are human eh?
Em take it easy . If you really cant do the extra days would it matter to them too much? I am sure your work would rather you are well in these last weeks than struggle in

OmgGrinNeed that must've been a heart stopping moment

CollieBobs · 12/09/2017 08:58

Haha omg need Grin Blush

Em good luck today. Hang in there! I remember feeling exactly the same. FlowersBrew can't believe you've had EmCat for over a year! I remember when you got her X

Having my hair chopped off today & I'm terrified I'll have a bad hair cut.

Can anyone give me any tips to stop nail polish from chipping? I usually apply 2 coats. Is there anything I can buy as a top coat? I want nice nails for interviews as I don't wear much makeup & I'll have really short hair later. So just want a nice finishing touch. Probably sounds daft doesn't it! Blush it's definitely frugal related as I don't want to buy the wrong thing & I keep buying new polish to find one that lasts longer. I'm hoping to successfully use up the ones I have. I have some Boots point to use up too

Laska5772 · 12/09/2017 09:05

collie I just use clear topcoat (anb basecoat as i think that also helps) Revlon usually. Its definately worth the extra £ i think.
But i only ever do my toenails ( i have silly little nails on hands and a gardening habit!)

LonelyOversharer · 12/09/2017 09:09

wheely I did just the same, belfast sink from ebay. The little lines do grow a lot. Then if you're like me they get ingrained with grime and not even bleach shifts it, as they lead under the shiny top coat of glaze. I think my sink had been in a garage for years and freezing/warming had cracked its glaze. It's now in the garden, and I wash my spaniel in it. I have a lovely ceramic 1 1/2 sink now, brand new £179 wickes.

Oh need thats mortifying for dd! Tee hee. Glad you could laugh about it.

Just in shop today with loads to do, so hopefully not as spendy as yesterday! Ribs in slow cooker for tea.

Dog/sink!

Grin need Blush

I had a great nights sleep and even DD2 being a pain on the school run hasn't ruined my good mood. I just unfrugally got in the car for half the journey instead of walking, and thought never mind Smile . It is incredible what a bit of sleep can do to improve your ability to cope!

Need to do a top up shop today and do various bits of house admin/chores. Think we may get some 🌤 too

Laska5772 · 12/09/2017 09:27

Car in garage today as windscreen pump has stopped working , but is still under extended warranty so hopefully that will cover it. Later on I am collecting a 2nd hand ironing board for DS flat
Was Shock at price of new ones !!! (Avg £50 !!) .Anyway posted a request at work and someone selling me one for £5 .Frugal resultSmile

Collie Fluffy is your girl for nail advice.

Need that is hilarious, good life lesson though always knock Wink

I have the cat flap man here, slightly stressful as there have been sparks flying round the living room (not a euphemism) the middle of the door was a sheet of metal!! Will be about £50 I think and well worth it if it works

Cagliostro · 12/09/2017 10:25

Yikes! Do most doors have metal in then? I know ours must as we put magnets on it. :o at sparks flying

I am sleepy and should really get dressed and do the vacuuming etc as have a new pupil in half an hour 😱 I have still barely been teaching but hopefully I'll get a few hours in now that we are back in term time.

After that we are having a home ed meet for Pizza Hut buffet - school dinners 😉 and then will be going to the bank to set up standing order for tae kwon do, cancelling my packaged account, paying in a cheque and reactivating my ISA.

I could really do with some caffeine 😡

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/09/2017 11:30

The cat flap is in, I am very excited about this Grin boycott has already gone through it, girl cat is sulking after I pushed encouraged her through it.

I gave the man £50 (was quoted £40) as i was so happy and putting it in was more of a ball ache than anticipated!!

ememem84 · 12/09/2017 11:38

Haha need 😮

I'm doing ok today. Feeling a bit uncomfortable still but have found that actually not sitting down for too long is key here. Gentle stretching.

I did panic a bit this morning that something might be happening - felt a bit crampy- so popped to see midwife. Hospital is only 10 minutes walk from work. Everything is fine. Baby is 3/5 engaged apparently so he's getting himself nice and ready. 😀 This explains the crampyness - more stretching. Sigh.

It would make zero difference to work if I didn't do these last few days to be honest. But it matters to me iyswim. So I'll do what I can. Tie up loose ends etc. Naice lunch tomorrow with ex colleague. Team lunch on Friday (sob) and that's me done.

lonely lovely doggo!!!

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/09/2017 11:58

Oops just spent £16 on greys anatomy 13 DVD. Been waiting so patiently for it to go on now tv and I want to see it before season 14 starts which is soon. Sometimes you have to treat yourself and I have been very good Grin

Arranged a mortgage review appointment with our adviser (free). Asked the question about student loan and the person thinks the mortgage lender will consider it in the financial checks but I can afford to apply for it after the mortgage goes through so...

Emailed to reduce an hour of childcare each week (save £4) as DD now goes to swimming lessons

Need to book a boiler service. It's all exciting here today!

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/09/2017 12:00

Even with DD2, I kept thinking the braxton hicks were a sign of something happening em . But when you get a proper contraction, you will know! Always worth getting checked out Flowers

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/09/2017 12:08

Don't do what two of my colleagues did Em and go into labour at work Shock with one of them her waters broke in the office Shock Shock can understand you wanting to finish though, I was the same although I should have called it quits sooner!! I finished Friday and was in hospital from Saturday, didn't even have a pram or anything ready. Tbf I think I was in denial that I would actually have a real baby at the end of it all Grin

CollieBobs · 12/09/2017 12:09

Ahhhhhh my hair is awful!!! How long will it take to grow an inch??

ememem84 · 12/09/2017 12:57

Oh girlie were at the "are we seriously having a baby?!" Stage. Total denial here! Haha!!

Dh has out done himself re lunch. Roast chicken and veggie soup and a roast chicken and cheese toastie (which I've had to reheat in the work microwave). And some cheese and onion crisps and a Diet Coke. I only just found this out now as I didn't check my lunch bag. I have a lunch bag

Happy Ems.

I also treated myself to some new pjs and a soft soft soft cardigan from fat face £91 something. But worth it in my view.

LonelyOversharer · 12/09/2017 14:43

My parents always get me a pair of fat face pj bottoms for Christmas, last years ones are sooo lovely I wear them as trousers. My red boots are here, they are lovely. They fit like a glove, so were clearly meant to be mine.

£30 asda. Stir fry bits to go with the ribs, lunch, sweets. Oh, and £30 fuel. Hope the new wheels are ready tomorrow, it feels like the wonky one is either about to burst, or I'll get pulled by the police and fined. Either option is awful, I do hope it lasts out.

Laska5772 · 12/09/2017 15:05

Car temp repair they are getting a new bit but not charging as its a fault so good esp as it turns out we dont have extended warrantly after all but a 'service plan' .they will sell us extended warranty though Hmm.
Friend directed me to lidl lunch time where i bought ds a new ironing board for 14.99 ( rather than drive 12 miles to pick up 2nd hand one) Also got a tower airer for 14.99 for him. Pretty food value i thought .tbese things always so expensive. Also a set of ' suede look' chair seat pads. These are for our dining chairs which have nice leather seats a d which the cat is steadily ruining grrr! £21 . Not too bad i think.
