Hospital parking was £5.40. Less than I expected

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 18:52

Oh and nsd.

Wheelycote · 11/09/2017 19:01

Home from work, cooked a fried breakfast for teaGrin feeding two teen ladsShock took 2packs of bacon, 6x eggs, 6 x sausages, beans and 4 slices of toastShockGrin. They're like lats too!
Watching dragons den Bbc1 Iplayer and about to restart scraping the polyfilla off the 2nd hand butler sink. Determined to get this sink ready and plumbed in.
Have put all the extra kitchen bits in the online shop basket but nervous about pressing buy

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 19:17

Gulp. Just checked the post box and both the hush autumn 17 and boden 17 magazines have arrived. Couple of boden bits I like (emerald green bootcut trourser anyone?) and a lot in hush. Maybe I'll leave them open strategically and suggest to dh he could get them for my birthday...

Cagliostro · 11/09/2017 19:17

Oooh I really want to see IT! I actually said to my friend who I might see it with, maybe it'll scare the baby out of me :o I am generally a total wuss when it comes to horror films (used to be utterly fearless and laugh at them, then I saw The Ring and I was irrevocably traumatised) but I know the original well and clowns don't bother me in the slightest. If anything I'll just be sad it's not Tim Curry!

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 19:36

oh jeez the ring. I watched it in the original Japanese when I was at college. And the grudge in it's original language (Korean?) (housemate was obsessed with Asian horror films).

Scary films anyway but when they're in another language and you have to read the subtitles so can't look away.... nope. Nope. Nope.

Saying that I do have fond memories of watching IT with other ridiculously good looking and awesome housemate while I was at uni. We were both scared and well....ended up "comforting" each other after. Twice. Good times. Ah to be 19 again. Wink

I do love a bit of Stephen king though. The book IT terrified me. And I'm constantly halfway through "needful things" I just can't finish it. It's too creepy. Too real. Maybhave to dig it out again and start re-reading. I'm not going to get much sleep once babybis here anyway...!

WreckTangled · 11/09/2017 19:37

I used to love scary films but I can't watch them anymore since I was a teenager and had a bad trip

I had a hearing test today and my hearing is really good Grin (I test people's hearing so need to be able to hear myself!)

LonelyOversharer · 11/09/2017 20:09

Oh yuk, scary films. Not my cup of tea at all.

Today was uber spendy. Took £200 cash out...£106 on sensible things in Costco, £7 on coffee and pizza - lunch at 1045! When we got home I saw that one of the big cars tyres is showing canvas Shock I couldn't unsee it. So £1124 on new wheels and tyres. We'd agreed new wheels before we bought tyres again, one is a bit wonky, and these are a lot bigger (big car tiny wheels does look crap). I paid on my credit card, and got flagged for fraud! "unusual spending trend" No shit! Dp is going to give me a bit each week to help chip away at it. The rest of the cash I'll put towards dd3's residential (£250 total).

We had costco croissants with ham and philly in for tea! And I have rather epically cleared half the living room (remember I'm a hoarder), as it was getting depressing. snuggly I found the bag of toddler boy clothes Blush I'll post them to you like I was sposed to months ago (smallest size 2-3) but I found a lovely navy blue mountain warehouse splashsuit at the shop, it has a fleecy inside, size 18-24 so will pop that in too.

LonelyOversharer · 11/09/2017 20:13

Jamie Oliver has just done something amazing with spaghetti and cabbage. He is getting better with age isn't he??

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/09/2017 20:51

Wow lonely that's a lot. But you can't put a price on safety.

I applied to reduce my working days again from 3 to 2. It is a better option than quitting completely but we'll see what the outcome is. Moneywise it would be the difference between just covering the bills and having money for some extras. My day was better today so it seems the best idea.

£3 on meal deal
Train ticket £16.80 (reimbursed but I get taxed 20% on)

Not a scary film person here. When I used to work in a cinema I hated having to go and wait for scary films to end.

em glad you are accepting the taking it easy. Just do what you can this week, a little bit of what you can do at work is better than nothing or you could just stay home now and put your feet up

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/09/2017 20:54

Ooh, I'd never quite worked out what you "do" before wreck . I'd figured a travelling school nurse type person.

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/09/2017 21:05

yumyum I have one of the Lakeland heated airers. Not overly impressed but I think the newer versions now come with a cover? Otherwise you need to put a big sheet/duvet over it to make a tent in order for it to actually dry stuff. I prefer my TD Blush and mainly use my Lakeland one as a normal airer

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2017 21:38

Tumble driers aren't that bad, it's just that our washing machines spin at low rpm horizontally so it's an inefficient way of removing water.

If you look at how much waters left after a spin cycle in a tumble drier manual it's loads. Over 40%.

Spinners spin at 2800rpm & its centrifugal motion so lots of water comes out. I've seen 3200rpm ones on eBay.

The water pours out when I do towels in it.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/09/2017 21:39

Evening all, glad you took some time off today Em def don't feel guilty!

I can't do anything remotely scary when it comes to films, I remember watching Misery with my mum when I was about 14yo and was completely traumatised Grin I am a complete wuss, even thinking about it now makes me shiver!!

Back to work today, dd successfully got herself to school and locked up, she also successfully got herself home and waited for me to finish work. Felt very weird leaving her this morning but think will be fine as we get used to it, was nice not having to go to work via school/ childminder for the first time in 11 years!!

NSD.

CollieBobs · 11/09/2017 22:12

Nope I don't "do" horror films ever since I watched Audition.

I always wanted the heated airer but I'm glad I didn't get one in the end. We ditched our TD (a few reasons) but we desperately needed the space. It was ridiculously over sized for our family. If we get another we'll get a small condenser one.

We watched American Made in the cinema last night! I quite liked it. But I'm easily pleased.

Tomorrow is haircut day £40 and I'm getting my long hair chopped off into a pixie Bob cut. Cannot wait! Apparently today I looked like I was from B*witched with my black curly hair, pale skin & denim jacket. Lol!

Bus will be £3.45

ChristmasSeacow · 11/09/2017 22:13

Life thank you so much, I am so grateful and excited (sad, I know... Grin). I was sure they would be sold out everywhere! I will PM you. You are a Star, as is everyone else who has looked for me.

I've not managed to get on mn all day as it's been manic. It was DS's first day at school. He was really upset last night and took ages to go to sleep, and this morning we had a massive battle getting his uniform on but we did it with brute force and bribery and he went in for a short day and was fine, I think. It's hard as he's not able to tell me anything about his day but I can usually tell by his behaviour if he's been upset, so no news is good news I guess.

Plumber has fixed our leak I think (I have to keep an eye on it but okay so far). I still need to swill out the garage and clean it but that's a big relief. £295.

lonely them's expensive wheels Shock but I know what you mean about not being able to unsee a worry. Gotta be done.

I hate horror films although oddly I've quite enjoyed the odd Stephen King book. Really can't abide clowns though.

Snuggly I bet your childcare costs are looking awful. But as one of my friends says, he thinks of it as a 'capital' cost /hit on savings, as it is finite, rather than an ongoing revenue cost.

I've only just finished dinner so can't go to bed yet but am so knackered. I have tonnes of stuff to do and never make any progress... I am actually considering paying a local au pair who is looking for extra work £10ph to come and hold DD for a few hours so I can get some jobs done. It really is that bad! Confused. Turns out DD is not very frugal...

LonelyOversharer · 11/09/2017 22:28

seacow totally go for the au pair! You might need to be in another room asleep as if she can see you... Glad your ds had an ok day. It will become the new, normal routine very soon x

I went on zwift! This is an online bike ride/training thing where you pedal on a turbo trainer and have an avatar on the screen. 12 miles. Doesn't make up for the tube of pringles I've nearly finished eating. Right, must do some work now.

Laska5772 · 11/09/2017 22:42

yumyumpoppycat · 11/09/2017 23:33

That's a shame about the Lakeland airer - have wanted one for years! I would get one of those spinner things Fluffy but genuinely don't think I have the space (I keep my current airer under the sofa!) ...will look into it more though as have seen similar recommended a few times now. Well the heating did go on in the end Blush was lovely though stood next to the radiator with some toastily dry laundry that could finally go away be stacked on the end of the sofa

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/09/2017 06:23

Dh thinks he has fixed my tumbler. May only be temp but it will take the pressure off while I get the shower fixed.
No bother sea. If I think on I will keep checking for 18-24

WreckTangled · 12/09/2017 06:47

Love I do the reception health screenings and year six height and weights.

Seacow do it!

I need petrol today. And said I would get mil some GF Bread as I'm going to the big town for work

ememem84 · 12/09/2017 07:08

Back to work today. I can do this. 4 more days.

Just need to lever self out of bed.

Should also be nsd today. Lunch is packed.

SnugglySnerd · 12/09/2017 07:31

Lonely that would be amazing if you don't mind. We're staying with mil this week in the countryside so it might be better to wait until next week if that OK? Sorry I feel very rude being fussy about such a lovely kind offer.

Keep going Em! 4 days. You can do it!

Christmas first day must have been hard for DS. Well done to you both and yes definitely get a few hours with the audience pair. A few weeks ago I paid one of the neighbour's teenage kids to entertain the dcs for a couple of hours so I could do housework. what I should have done is paid them to do the housework they got a bit of pocket money and my kitchen was clean for a few hours!

Wheelycote · 12/09/2017 08:02

Morning

Advice about the sink and do I spend out on a brand new one or stick with this one....keeping in mind I need to be frugal....But I've spent out on units should I just bite the bullet and get a new sink too???

It was a tenner off eBay, was a bit dusty etc when saw it and bought it. It has some lines in /cracks in the ceramic internal bit. Don't think it will leak think more superficial /cosmetic

Dinner in the slow cooker already Grin bay leaves remind me of winter
