I'm really struggling to keep up. Very spendy weekend as we've had friends visiting (although they stayed at a Travellodge luckily. Not much space chez Snuggly! ). It did mean outings, meals etc though. Had a really lovely weekend though despite being a bit ££.

DH and I had a big chat about money on Saturday night. We're going to be skint when I go back to work with all the childcare costs. I'm trying to focus on the long term gain!

thewaitresses · 11/09/2017 06:37

Haha mammy it's just that type of thing like your DNs birthday - I need to plan ahead and minimise where possible!

Hope DCs are coping wreck - back to school germs are the worst

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2017 07:34

I was cheesed off yesterday too Waitress, I nearly bought a tumble dryer to cheer myself up. I'm going to wait till Black Friday or whatever it's called. Or visit the Miele outlet in Oxford. I really want to go there.

We just say we can't afford it. New mortgage, childcare fees, p/t income. No one can expect you to be rolling in it.

WreckTangled · 11/09/2017 07:37

Snuggly I can't imagine how high your child care fees will be!

Dd appears to have conjunctivitis. Poor thing.

Wheelycote · 11/09/2017 08:01

Morning!

May be a pricey day as need to order a few bits I missed for the kitchen (side panels) including a different size cupboard. Expecting it to come in at around £300.

Plan for day: Work, order bits for kitchen, ironing, look at the bathroom floor, fried brekkie for tea :D, sleep

northender · 11/09/2017 08:32

Morning!
We had a quiet, house day yesterday. Mr North was feeling a little jaded after his cricket exploits Grin
He helps out the treasurer with the cricket club accounts and audits the PTFA accounts so he spent the afternoon doing that. The weather was and still is dreadful, can't believe the amount of rain.
I've got another class this morning, today it's Kettlercise. I've already tidied & cleaned the kitchen, more cleaning to do, then later I'm taking the dc up to the Lakes to meet sil & family for tea.

How did your bread turn out Girlie? I love baking bread

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 09:08

Laska5772 · 11/09/2017 10:15

Just signed up for erewards. Have come home from work as felt exhausted and weird. Am now on couch watching morning tv. May put some washing on or something later. But for the moment resting.

CollieBobs · 11/09/2017 11:26

em I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what ere wards was for a while. Blush I'm such a moron!

Cagliostro · 11/09/2017 11:31

:o I'm always doing things like that

Cagliostro · 11/09/2017 13:14

Aaaand autumn truly setting in here. Must keep taking vitamin D and drag out the little heater.

I am an emotional wreck again, wish DH wasn't working. New HV coming to meet us in an hour, need to get ready. CBA.

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 13:21

It's autumn here today too cag grey squally showers windy as hell. The ferries haven't left/arrived today. No idea how we're going to cope here - the shops will run out of humous or something!! Haha!!

I'm curled up on the couch in my comfies. Cup of tea. Greys anatomy on tv.

Chicken fajitas or tacos for dinner. I've followed up on my joules refund. The parcel still hasn't arrived (according to the track and trace).

thewaitresses · 11/09/2017 13:27

Snuggly it is short term - I'm thinking in terms of two years before free hours kick in - we can do this! *

Fluffy* a tumble dryer will definitely cheer you up! I resisted for many years but had to relent last winter and it's changed my life!

On the misery note - using a 'Friends' reference - 'it's the thing, then the thing after the thing' - so I sign up to something quite low-key but don't factor in the 'extras' (e.g. went out for a set-menu £22 dinner on Saturday but the whole evening - cabs, card, drinks, side dishes etc cost £85 in total). So I just have to get used to saying 'no thanks, I'm skint'!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/09/2017 14:57

My first thank you - I nearly ducked out of making myself a packed lunch this morning but had Holly's tuna roll in mind and made myself a wrap using a last slightly crusty wrap in our bread bin and some salad leaves and red pepper houmous (Lidl - brilliant for houmous, also cottage cheese and peppered mackerel these are our lidl staples). Didn't buy a latte at work either!

Ok so I am going to log my spends on a google spreadsheet on my phone - I did this a couple of months ago and it really helped as I could add things whenever I had a spare mo, on the bus, while doing dinner etc. I also needs some kind of secret code spreadsheet for xmas present spending!

No heating on yet but could use it for laundry tbh. No TD here either I really want one of those Lakeland heated airer thingies - would need to be on offer though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/09/2017 15:00

Will catch up in a bit but just popped on to sat sea i got the 12-18 month trousers here. They said they should be getting more stock of the other sizes and just to keep an eye out. PM me your address and i will post them.

Cagliostro · 11/09/2017 15:23

Awww yay go life! They are awesome trousers. 💕

Health visitor been, turns out the reason they were SO early is because they had my due date down as early October rather than November 😂

I feel slightly more human now. Need to ring doctor and book my whooping cough jab.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/09/2017 15:57

lonely do you want 9 or 16 October expiry date on the voucher?

WreckTangled · 11/09/2017 16:07

Woo hoo life! StarStar

LSD. Bought pasta for lunch and more mini breadsticks for dds lunch. The road is closed here and I have to do a two mile detour to and from school Angry

Meatballs for dinner. Was going to have them with flatbreads but now I'm going to do Swedish style with mash and peas mmmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2017 16:25

Yumy Well done! That's at least £6 you saved today. Look at spin dryers on eBay. Terribly old fashioned but they get so much water out that things dry really quickly.

NSD. £5 of nectar points from erewards which means Dh can have brushed cotton pyjamas when the 25% off event starts next Tuesday in sainsburys.

I'm doing semolina for pudding, I'm obsessed with old style puddings.

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 16:57

fluffy I love an "old fashioned" pudding except semolina and rice pudding Eugh my faves are jam rolypoly and a syrup steam pudding. Both with lovely yellow custard. Mmmm. I could actually eat both right now.

It's been nice just resting today. Although I do feel the guilt of coming home from work this morning. But then I figured I wasn't being much use to anyone. So I'm better off getting rested and can go back in tomorrow after a naice huge sleep.

thewaitresses · 11/09/2017 17:11

Em take advantage of being on the home-stretch, I'm sure your colleagues would rather you get to Friday in full health than to have struggled on today.

Thank you yumy you've reminded me that I should be acknowledging my small victories rather than always despairing about the big spends so for today:
NSD
Found two presents and cards for upcoming birthdays in present box
Sent a thank you using a TouchNote credit I'd forgotten about
Have worked out meal-plan to take us to Friday from what's already in (pasta with ham&peas, veggie omelette, chicken&celery soup, freezer food)
Washing out on the line to be finished in TD later

WreckTangled · 11/09/2017 17:35

Well I liked dinner even if no one else did Hmm dh is 'ill' so is therefore miserable with everyone.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2017 18:00

The shotgun app has paid me £2 in Amazon vouchers for two journeys made in the last 24 hours.

It's only valid for the first 1000 miles you drive with them.

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 18:29

waitress that was my thinking. And dhs.

Chicken tacos for dinner. Dh has made taco shells from wraps. he's such a bloody smart arse the last time I tried that they puffed up and I had to break them and turn them into nachos

A friend asked me to the cinema tonight. Just as well I've had the day off and therefore am not allowed out. She wanted to see IT. I saw the original. No way am I putting myself through that again. Although maybe in a couple of weeks if I go overdue...
