Bacon I'm giggling at 5 miles being a bit of a trek even for supermarket I've to drive 13 miles Grin
I'm same as you cold & chills going on now

CollieBobs · 09/09/2017 09:11

loveabaconsandwich It was the 5 x Plain Lazy t shirts for £35. And a voucher code for free delivery too. Saved £78 in total. You get to choose the gender and size and they pick the designs. We have 6 brothers between us and 4 father's / step dads. They're all the same size and all love funny t shirts so no doubt the 5 x t shirts will suit some of them. Smile plus, men are hard to buy for!

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/09/2017 09:14

It's relative to where you live mammy Grin I have small superstore Tesco and sainsburys, Lidl, Iceland and M&s foodhall all within a mile and a half of home. When I was on mat leave I used to walk and load up my shopping on the pushchair. So five miles is considered a trek haha

ChristmasSeacow · 09/09/2017 09:31

Ha, distance is all relative! There is a Morrisons less than 10 miles from me but in London traffic it would take me well more than an hour each way. And it only has women's clothes, not kids', according to the website. I wouldn't drive more than 2 miles for a supermarket due to traffic (and there are several within that radius anyway).

My high street is getting an M&S food hall next month. With a fresh bakery on site. 5 mins walk from home andden route back from the tube. This isn't going to be frugal.

mammymammyIRL · 09/09/2017 09:42

Agree it's all relative Grin

Hangupyourhangups · 09/09/2017 09:46

Morning ladies! Thanks for being so welcoming. Ah no haven't joined that one, will go and search it out. Got a rare lie in today, we are newly married (3 weeks) so dh is sticking to the deal of occasional lie ins 🤣 Things have been crazy financially since the wedding so we are on such a small budget until we find our feet. Got family coming over this afternoon to see the twins for birthday treats so won't be venturing out or spending and then we are off for a curry night at a friend this evening so no spends there too!!!!! weather is rubbish so on the look out for some weather related clothes for the girls so we can still enjoy outdoors, need wellies/snow boots for eldest and rainsuits for all. Any cheap places i can look? Lists are amazing, I always feel better and bulding my lists. I buy this huge wall planner every year and it's amazing! Always get complemented on it and it's big enough for dh to read and actually remember things! I was tempted to buy the cat or dog design this year as my twins are obsessed with them (we don't own any pets except a fish called eric) but I couldn't choose between designs, one twin loves cats the other dogs, so one would be upset haha!

Morrisons for kids wear is gorgeous, I just bought the girls a cat hat each with a voucher we had and they won't stop wearing them! Congrats on the pregnant mamas, my ovary always twitches when speaking about babies!

Hangupyourhangups · 09/09/2017 09:50

Wow that magic defrost plate 😱 I need one in my life!

LonelyOversharer · 09/09/2017 09:52

We are 6 miles to the nearest shop, the supermarkets in town are all 18+ miles from home. It's unavoidable and I don't even think about it. Just try to use the little car so cheap on fuel. But we are super rural and I don't think I'd swap for the nearest big village (where the dc go to school) now, even if we could afford to move, which we can't.

Just up and running a bath. It appears that the rain has stopped. I might venture out on my bike, I might not!

WreckTangled · 09/09/2017 11:02

Same lonely

£78 Lidl Shock £2.20 Wilkos £36 peacocks as it's the only shop there and the dc need jeans for forest school and new underwear.

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/09/2017 12:18

Ooooo! Dilemma.

I've had a quote to redo our drive for nearly £5k by a reliable local company that the council use for all their road and path work.

Then a nice Irishman just came to the door and offered to do it for £3k next week. What should I do?

Tricky. He was very nice.

WreckTangled · 09/09/2017 12:23

Get another quote from a recommended company. Write off the Irish man.

Wheelycote · 09/09/2017 12:26

In B&Q must not buy anything! Bloody blinkers would be good about now!Grin must must must not buy anything not even pegs

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/09/2017 12:50

What wreck said. Don't use the nice Irish man.
£170 between Aldi, sainsbury and Iceland. Fgs so much for reducing budget. Not all good though and freezer is chocca so should balance out.
Missing my dryer do will look at them this afternoon. Dishwasher on hold.
Hello new people.
I like that planner. Will wait for noths code

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/09/2017 12:53

Driveways are expensive, I'd get it done right & not have trouble down the line. I watched a consumer program where the Tarmac with white quartz flecks turned out to be mints not Quartz. Every time it rained the air was minty fresh.

www.savethestudent.org/save-money/food-drink/12-storage-tricks-thatll-make-your-food-last-longer.html Young'uns today know stuff.

So far NSD & £4.45 up mb.

Waitrose sent dw tabs not powder Sad so I refused them, I'll go to morrisons early tm & look for powder. I miss daisy powder. They were out of 1.7kg chickens so I've got two 1.3kg ones in the freezer now for the same price. All my pizza express stuff came with bogof main course vouchers for pizza express too #winning.

I've got £20 left in the shopping budget so I'll withdraw in cash.

Love I can't decide if that's frigging adorable or slightly tragic. If they start getting 5 meals off a chicken when playing kitchens you'll have to do an intervention. At least you're starting them off right. I've had to wean Dh off branded stuff because his d mum buys branded whereas my mum always used own brand everything.

He'd still use branded cleaning stuff if I hadn't told him about animal testing 🐰

My Washings all coming out super soft, I'll use moisturising soap as a base again, I've always used white before. Everything feels like I've washed it in dreft.

I'll look for the trousers tm Sea, one of us will hopefully find them.

ChristmasSeacow · 09/09/2017 13:25

Ah you're all lovely. Need a trouser emoticon

Ooh found one! 👖

Biblical rain on M5. Glad DH is driving. I am in charge of unwrapping the mentoes.

WreckTangled · 09/09/2017 13:39

We don't have a Morrisons or I would offer too Grin I feel an afternoon nap may be in order....we're out of coffee and I can't function without it

LonelyOversharer · 09/09/2017 14:03

Not found seacow sorry, biggest size 9-12m. They are lovely though. Girlie without being bright bloody pink.

£55 in Morrisons, ours is being rebuilt while still open, so it's all churned about.

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/09/2017 14:19

Thanks, I'll stick with the local guy then. :-)

ChristmasSeacow · 09/09/2017 14:36

Ah, thanks for trying Lonely. I bet they are sold out everywhere!

thewaitresses · 09/09/2017 14:44

Ooh I love the wall planner! Might add it to my Christmas list 🎄! I'm trying to keep lists going for all of us of useful/needed things so we can let friends and family know when they ask rather than the usual 'ummm...bubble bath?'

We've spent the morning in a huge local garden centre which has a pet centre and soft play. My mum treated us to lunch as we got the take-away last night so just £12.49 on plants for the front garden.

Biblical rain here too ☔️

yumyumpoppycat · 09/09/2017 14:53

Do you mind if I join in a bit, I am trying not to do any unnecessary spending until half term!

mammymammyIRL · 09/09/2017 15:00

Spends
€3 library fines
€15 beautician
€10 carwash
€15.50 henfood
€46.00 Lidl
€20 butchers
And I just realised I forgot dogfood

Came out from butchers & ds tells me he has wet his pants, I replied 'great' dripping with sarcasm & he says 'It's not great for me Mammy' Grin

I'm Irish sunny but you've got to wonder why he's available so soon too

Lonely ah you're more remote than me Smile we're 2 miles from village & 13 miles from the big town. I aim to do all my jobs when I get out.

Hangup love your wall planner. Got two school days off pages from dc school so I downloaded a calendar online & input them & dh's Saturdays at work & any events already planned so that we can see everything at a glance but yours is amazing.

I'm starving so off to eat lunch now

mammymammyIRL · 09/09/2017 15:01

Welcome yumyum of course you can join us

mammymammyIRL · 09/09/2017 15:02

Tesco coming soon hope they don't come while I'm having lunch

mammymammyIRL · 09/09/2017 15:03
