Forgot to get food up from the freezer Angry

LonelyOversharer · 08/09/2017 09:01

I do that most days italian meal plan, then forget to get the meat out of the freezer, which is in the kitchen, looking right at me ffs. Then the meal plan goes squint.

On my third cup of coffee, feeling a bit more with it.

ChristmasSeacow · 08/09/2017 09:39

I lost a post last night, gah. The gist was:

  • welcome back Collie and thanks for the fab autumn list
  • we've had a couple of better weather days so managed a day at the beach, much to DS's delight, and a lovely trip on a steam train / boat (Goodrington to Dartmouth) . Train tickets were quite spendy and we then bought pasties to eat in the park. I also bought a few clothes as there are lots of nice shops in Dartmouth Blush oops. But I am quite lacking in casual clothes that fit at the mo so I feel it has done me good to get a few new bits. I had still been wearing maternity tops due to lack of alternatives.

It's extremely wet and gloomy today so we have made the radical decision not to do anything with the last day of our holiday. Might run around in the huge garden between showers if there is any gap between showers and otherwise admire the gorgeous view. I am looking forward to some leisure time and a bit of gentle packing! I will probably pop to Morrisons later though as I was really impressed with their children's clothes earlier in the week, but I didn't have much time to look. I was generally very impressed with Morrisons, wish I had one near home.

single track roads are very hard on cars, ours has acquired loads of scratches on this holiday from rogue foliage. Grr.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/09/2017 10:00

Morning all, thought I would treat myself to a cooked breakfast this morning and somehow managed to up end the frying pan with semi cooked fried egg all over my kitchen floor oh well, have obviously just left it there for a min and am enjoying a cuppa in the living room Grin

Weather dismal this morning, thinking dd will regret her decision not to take a coat this morning. I am having a lazy day, back to work next week so might as well. My cat flap fitter man has cancelled on me which is annoying.

Aims for the day;
Clean kitchen floor
Clean bathroom
Cancel phone contract

Oh and re the lease car dilemma I think it very much depends on how much you can afford/ personal circumstances. I really weighed it up when my car died but decided that actually I couldn't afford how much it would cost me per month (approx £170, millage would radically drop, tax changes plus the lease fee.) Even with all the benefits for me on one income it was too much. Am hoping my little Toyota will be cheap to run, repair etc so will be the right decision but obviously nothing is guaranteed!

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 10:10

Girlie yes you're right I have thought about all of that. I don't use all of my personal allowance so don't need to worry about the tax thing Grin

Loveabaconsandwich · 08/09/2017 11:40

For those who forget to get food out to defrost, I have a reminder ping up on my phone on the days I need to get things out. It's annoyingly when it pings, but it works!

Spendy morning-
£32 clarks but DD2 had a voucher from her December birthday still
£24 gap but had £12 vouchers
£32 in Asda on clothes and dinner and their own brand pull ups
Prescription free due to exemption

Our mortgage fixed rate is now within 4 months of ending so I can now see what is available. And will allow financial planning for various scenarios

I feel rubbish today. Got about three hours sleep.

SunnyLikeThursday · 08/09/2017 11:42

We're having an epic week here. Dh is having about 18 job interviews a day, and has one offer already. Ds is back in school and having developmental tests at the same time. And my parent's offer on a house here has been accepted. I have engaged a conveyancer and a surveyor. My head is getting a bit hot.

ememem84 · 08/09/2017 13:43

I've just eaten the worlds biggest tastiest spiciest peanuttiest chicken satay salad ever.

That is all.

I may slip into a food coma now. So many leaves.

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 14:03

I just had soup. It's soup weather.

I want shepherds pie for dinner but only have new potatoes any ideas? It'll take me ages to peel them all so don't really want to do that...

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/09/2017 14:06

Sounds hectic Sunny

I have been on a house cleaning mission, have pretty much tidied and cleaned the whole house Shock need a little lie down now Grin

Reckon today will be a much needed NSD though.

Laska5772 · 08/09/2017 14:24

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 14:35

Laska my nearest Sainsbury's is half an hour away Sad Mary berry has a recipe with new potatoes so I might try that...

SunnyLikeThursday · 08/09/2017 14:43

That's brilliant Girlie. Well done on the cleaning.

LonelyOversharer · 08/09/2017 14:58

I par boil new potatoes wreck and roast them whole in thier skins (just roll them in a bit of oil in the roasting pan + season) result is a cross between roasties and baked potatoes. Shepherd's pie without mash is what we call mince from mince+tatties. Or you could make a savoury crumble topping with beadcrumbs and cheese in...hungry now!

Still very wintery autumnal here. Am doing some crochet, and we're taking the dc to Macdonalds for tea. Nutrition all the way here.

Glad you're still about sunny life takes over sometimes not for me I'm so dull Has anyone heard from copper lately?

LonelyOversharer · 08/09/2017 15:01

Or just boil them in thier skins, they should slip out of them quite easily once cooked. My potato ricer deals with skins too, but you have to fish them out after each squeeze.

ememem84 · 08/09/2017 15:53

Just leave them in their skins wreck.

We're having tapas stuff for dinner. Cold meats humous maybe some chips.

CollieBobs · 08/09/2017 15:54

Mmmm mince & tatties! Yummers.

Sainsbos shop came £58 for the week

Applied for a job but the recruiter was pissed off that I can only do part time. They've now changed the job advert to say "full time hours only" Sad oh well.

Feeling a bit low now. But shall crack on with Christmas planning later. Can't wait until DH is home

< Tired & grumpy >

ChristmasSeacow · 08/09/2017 16:04

I'd boil them in their skins and then crush them roughly with a potato masher and stick them on the top of the shepherds pie, skins and all, like a more rustic topping. And I'd tell DH it's what Gordon Ramsay does Wink

Went to Morrisons and bankrupted myself on lovely baby clothes. Annoyingly they didn't have a pair of trousers in the right size that I wanted to complete an outfit for DD and they don't do online clothes shopping. I am disproportionately disappointed . Clothes for the children is definitely one of my financial weaknesses. That and yarn, like Lonely! Lonely, show us the stuff you are going to make a jumper out of!

Great news about your folks moving Sunny. That's going to be a massive change for you all, no doubt for the better as long as they adjust well to life down south. And about DH's job prospects too. And I hope you make some progress for DS with the school too. My DS starts on Monday, I am already terribly nervous about it.

ItalianWiking84 · 08/09/2017 16:31

5£ in Lidl on pizza. Couldn't be bothered with making dinner. Reckon it's on ok dinner once in a while

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 16:55

I've made my own gravy. Hope it's nice as I'll never go back to granules if it is.

Seacow that's what I've done! Bet the dc won't eat it.

I've got a really bad neck it gets worse throughout the day.

Italian everyone needs pizza for dinner sometimes!

Sunny good news about your parents house.

Loveabaconsandwich · 08/09/2017 17:02

We've got Chinese bought from Asda for dinner

We checked Rainbows would be on, went and waited ten minutes but no leaders turned up. Grrrr. We're all cold, wet, tired and grumpy now. DD1 was exhausted already, now she is being really unreasonable as she is upset. Angry

Laska5772 · 08/09/2017 17:18

We are having fishcakes..i spent HOURs making them yesterday evening because I thought it would be lovely to have kipper fishcakes (having bought some locally smoked ones reduced) . What I forgot was the hundredsand hundreds of tiny fine bones there are in a smokie.. I wont be doing that again.. ( and if Dh dares to say 'theres a bone in this ' i'll shove the ruddy lot down his gullet!! Grin.)

It is going to be a cooking weekend.. Dparents Dbro and DS coming over tomorrow..We are having lamb roast and im going to make a (garden produce) apple and blackberry tart but with packet puff pastry!
