My spending weakness is food and drink- hot chocolate, pastries, McDonald's, subway, chocolate, sweeties. It really does all add up. Amazon is also a major problem.

Meh. My day was crap. Potentially the stress is going to ramp up. I have told DP I'm not clinging onto my job at the detriment of my health/well being and he agrees. Time will tell, I may be a step closer to the quitting path now which is actually quite scary.

I need to get really into frugaleering in preparation for a drop in income. I need your motivation please!

Sorry for the self indulgent post.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/09/2017 21:03

In frugal news I should be able to cash out £20 of survey vouchers tomorrow. But I am so, so bored of surveys right now

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/09/2017 21:08

GAH. That's all I have to say about today.
Nsd though. Wandered round home bargains and bought nowt. The Halloween stuff looks good though

needastrongone · 07/09/2017 21:14

Running stuff for me.

NSD.

Sorry - life is manic so reading but not able to post in depth. You lot are as chatty as ever.Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2017 21:52

Me too Love but the extra money will come in handy at Christmas.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/09/2017 22:12

fluffy if I have to answer any more questions on mobiles or internet providers I think my head will explode. I really like gift vouchers though so I keep plodding on with it.

In answer to your question yesterday about dumplings, I've never cooked them myself. My mum used to when I was a child with suet, back then I thought SC casserole with yuck so maybe now I've grown up I need to try it again

ememem84 · 07/09/2017 22:20

I need to join e rewards. Still haven't done it. And also have a look at matched betting. That'll be one for the start of my leave I think.

Account balances
£35.67 joint ac
£162 my ac
£64.19 penny ac
£276 credit card

Must follow up with joules tomorrow re my returned order. Nothing received yet...

Loveabaconsandwich · 08/09/2017 01:41

Can't sleep and now sneezing and my nose has started running so had to get up Sad

On the plus side, done a few online surveys

thewaitresses · 08/09/2017 06:08

Hope you got some sleep love 😴

Yesterday was spendy - £5 desserts (found a bottle of wine at home), £60 owed to friend, £10 cab.

Gosh just realised it's Friday 😁!

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/09/2017 06:28

Oh yes. I've done the same coffee survey on two platforms Love. If the dumplings are still yuck you can always use the suet up in a steamed golden syrup or jam pudding, really easy puddings.

I go for beef suet, veg suet is palm oil so it's still saturated fats.

Wheelycote · 08/09/2017 06:41

ememem84 · 08/09/2017 06:52

Morning all. Stormy overnight here I think - sounded like it haven't checked outside yet.
Dh is up early and is busy making scrambled eggs on toast. Mmm.

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 06:55

I need advice.

The lease car is looking to be more than I thought as I don't do the next tier of mileage. Taking into account insurance and tax (not mot/servicing/roadside cover which is all included) I have £220 spare a month. If I do this car then I will have £120 spare a month. Dh is also worried about us getting penalised at the end for any scratches as we live down a single track road.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/09/2017 07:01

Is that £120 a month after everything else? If it's money just totally spare then that doesn't sound bad but if it's for savings or needs to be spent somewhere then it's not much.
What is the clause on scratches?

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/09/2017 07:02

Welcome back Wheely

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 07:15

It's completely spare. All of our bills etc go out of the joint account apart from my phone etc and childcare so that's after all of that. Basically if there's scratches you have to pay for them to be repaired.

Wheelycote · 08/09/2017 07:24

Wreck
just to add a little food for thought...several of my colleagues have a lease car and when my car needs to be returned (its on teh pcp) I'll get a lease car.
I havent heard anyone ever get penalised for scratches etc but maybe no ones said. I'll ask about today?

Colleagues fully recommend it as the lease care as they take care of everything...no headaches or stress and even breakdown cover for the likes of flat tyres. Basically they come to the rescue.

But I will ask about today to hear if theyres any negatives

WreckTangled · 08/09/2017 07:32

Thanks wheely. It's taking away the stress which makes me want to do it. My car was off the road for two weeks earlier in the year and it was a nightmare trying to sort it with insurance etc. Plus the bloody suspension is always going.

Cagliostro · 08/09/2017 07:45

Ah I'm sorry some frugaleers have had stressful days yesterday :( Thanks Wine Cake

Welcome back wheely :)

Slept a little better/longer last night. Thank you for empathy north Thanks luckily it's just the odd night rather than constant ATM, not sure if it's a good thing as it's preparing me for sleepless nights with baby Hmm or if I'll end up unable to sleep even when she finally dozes off at 4am... :o

Not really going anywhere today, hoping to sort out our bedroom with DH in between HE 'lessons' with the Caglets. Not sure if we need food or not though as we have 4 extra (3 DSCs plus DSS' GF) for dinner and game night. Need to sort through the fridge.

Frugal fail yesterday, DH got me a hot chocolate from the cafe at the leisure centre as it's switched to Costa rather than crappy watery stuff, and I promptly spilled it all over the floor at trampolining Blush.

Need to start thinking more about Christmas, and the Caglets have a couple of friends' birthdays just after due date so I want to get those sorted too.

Very impressed with those of you who keep at the surveys! I really need to get back to it (and sort out my nectar account, or rejoin). No excuse now really since we have a laptop and DD is sleeping better, I often have a bit more time to kill in the evenings before DH gets home so I should use it rather than MNing, but I do like MNing... and rack up a little money.

Hope everyone has a good end to the first school week!

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/09/2017 07:46

Scratches have to be a certain depth and length before you pay. Ask them for a copy of the return criteria.

Your not expected to hand it back in showroom condition.

Cagliostro · 08/09/2017 07:47

My friend said something similar about a lease car, I don't understand the rules of it myself but she said how good it is not to have to worry about repairs and stuff since it's all included. I can definitely see why it's tempting as compared to the worry of a sudden expensive breakdown etc it must help to know there's backup.

LonelyOversharer · 08/09/2017 07:51

Thanks for the brew wheely I really need it this morning! We're very late up. Welcome back.

Dumplings. We had them as kids, but never since. Then dp joined us, and brought mince and tatties with 'dough balls' with him. They are so yummy. No measurements, but all cupboard staples if you want to try... self raising flour (100g or so), a good knob of butter, rubbed in like pastry, about a rounded tablespoon of stuffing mix, and milk or water to bind. It should be soft and a bit sticky. Add blobs (as big as you want) to the top of your simmering casserole. Lid on. They cook for 15 or so depending on size. They should fluff up and be soft and delicious. Ummm winter food.

I get pumped out of most surveys after 20 questions. Prefer the e rewards, as you get 10 points for trying...have 490 in 5 days, 290 of them have been 10 pointers! Did win £28 on a 15p spin on steamtower last night, boosted my betfair account up a bit.

CollieBobs · 08/09/2017 07:55

I used to do the survey's. I don't know why i stopped! I'll check it out :)

The Nectar bonus isn't on my account Sad maybe next time.

wreck we'd love a lease car! We're looking into them because the cost of keeping our current shitmobile going. It's always going in for various stuff.

Matched getting looks really interesting!

Welcome back wheely Smile

I'm going to do some Christmas shopping / planning online today. We saved all year for a Christmas fund so have the money to spend.

But it'll be a NSD for anything non Christmas related.

Gotta think of frugal stuff to do this weekend too. DS wants to cook flapjacks.

ememem84 · 08/09/2017 08:03

Morning achievement. I managed to put my own socks on! Ha! Take that pregnancy. You will not stop me getting myself dressed! Ha! even if I did have to lie on my back and probably looked like a mentally challenged walrus

Have located my post things from joules return. So will investigate that later on today clearly busy at work

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/09/2017 08:15

In that case then I agree it depends on the return policy
