Popped to town for some batteries and ended up spending £10 in The Works, stocked up on some cheap Christmas gifts (5 books for £5, calendars for £3 etc) and £15 in Wilkos!! I seem to have developed a Wilko's habit, I can't seem to help myself when I am in there as stuff is so cheap!! Got lots for that obv.

Dd rang to say she had eaten all her lunch and was still starvvvvvvvving Hmm great another growth spurt. Picking her up early as she has the dentist, will take snacks!!

CollieBobs · 07/09/2017 14:29

Hope creme is having a lovely holiday!

Haha! Thanks for the smiley welcome need

em well, since January it's probably nearing £250. Which is daft considering all I actually use is Loreal foundation, primer & dark brown eyeliner. But I have bought mascaras (which I can't wear with my glasses / contacts) & lippy (that just rubs off on DS's face) Grin. I also buy Rimmel nail polish but it just flakes off. I'm obviously missing a trick.

Although I HAVE to wear some makeup daily otherwise people ask me if I'm sick.

Kept to budget today. Picked up Little Miss Magic brand new for 50p in the charity shop.

Sausages & mash for tea!

ememem84 · 07/09/2017 15:22

collie I'm going to go home later and work out how much I've spent in total...possibly more than that as cosmetics still "fit" me! So it's possible I've spent more than I usually would because I haven't been able to buy clothes (other than maternity ones!) haha!

SnugglySnerd · 07/09/2017 15:39

You're always welcome Laska! Plenty of good curry houses here.

Bit spendy today. Needed some baby stuff. Luckily I had some Boots vouchers towards it.

Otherwise been for a nice walk and cooked a tonne of spag bol for the freezer.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2017 16:10

Ok, so petrol wouldn't be eked out. Topped up £4 petrol.

10l or so of laundry gloop made. Cost £1.54 should see me through the winter.

40p 2 bars aldi soap, grated.
15p 250g soda crystals
99p Zoflora in linen fragrance.

Now I just need home made fabric softener, white vinegar doesn't seem to cut it here with our hard water.

I tried soda crystals as dishwasher detergent last night, glasses came out a bit smeary so I'm trying 50:50 soda crystals:citric acid tonight.

Exciting times.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/09/2017 16:34

Fluffy do you mix all that together with water? Will have to give it a go.

Spent £25 getting a chip in the windscreen fixed at Halfords.
£1.75 on caddy bags, annoying that I forgot to pick these up in Wilkos considering I have been in there most of the week Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2017 16:39

Yep, about 2.5-3L in a big saucepan & then top the bucket up with warm water. Add the Zoflora last as its quite volatile & you don't want a fire. Take a cap off an aerosol of furniture polish etc as a measure. One capful per wash.

I've found a fabric softener recipe, hair conditioner & white vinegar in water. I've used hair conditioner in the past when I've run out of fab soft.

ememem84 · 07/09/2017 16:46

fluffy I've never attempted making own laundry stuff. Does it work as well as branded stuff?

That said I have no real need to at present. Dh bought laundry powder things two weeks ago as we were running out, and dm has left two huge boxes of bold lavender stuff on our doorstep apparently. They were on offer in a local shop. £7 each reduced from about £14.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2017 17:09

It does but I pre treat stains with washing up liquid & let it soak in for 10 minutes before washing. I do that routinely though. Just cheap non concentrated wul. I got spag Bol stains out of dhs white t shirt doing that & curry out of my pyjamas.

I bet a lot of us aren't actually that mucky. I tend to wear things once before washing & I'm not washing things like industrial over-alls.

The warm water & action of the machine do most of the work, the detergents just a surfactant & we've been making that for hundreds of years from a recipe the Tudor period laundrys would recognise.

LonelyOversharer · 07/09/2017 17:14

I just stopped using fabric conditioner about 6 years ago. Ran out and didn't rebuy. I can honestly say I can't tell the difference. Never use thingys in the tumbler either. I only ever buy the pink surf, in a huuuuge box (120 washes?) £8 costco, or slightly smaller box when on offer in asda. I buy two boxes a year, and average a wash a day, so very stingy with the powder, it just seems to clean brilliantly. Plus we have really nice water.

Have not spent yet anything today. Very unusual. Rained all day. Put the seat heater on in the car, and have a thermal base layer on.

It funny how we all have our spending weakness. For Em and Collie it's cosmetics, for me it's yarn. I never feel guilty buying yarn - I wish I did, it's so easy to justify it to myself.

WreckTangled · 07/09/2017 17:31

The cat has been sick. The sick is bigger than most cats. I can't do sick 😷

LonelyOversharer · 07/09/2017 17:38

Oh no wreck catsick is one of my least favourite fluids. Ugh.

CollieBobs · 07/09/2017 17:40

Eep. Can't do sick either wreck.

I'm sensitive to smells (is that a thing??). The last detergent I bought was on offer and it smells so strongly that it gives me headaches. I'm coping with it until we run out though. It's the gel tablet things. Even hurts to open the cupboard they're in.

WreckTangled · 07/09/2017 17:43

I'm funny with smells too hence no perfume and dh can't wear anything either. Bleurgh.

Cagliostro · 07/09/2017 17:50

My spending weaknesses are board games and DVDs (but they are controlled by using my pocket money for it) and books/home ed supplies!

Oh no wreck sick is one of the things that put me off pet ownership. I am fine with baby sick as it's just milk but anything else... aaaargh.

More spends today... and in coming on here to report them I realise I don't actually know how much they are! How bad is that? It's so easy to just shove my card on the reader - even worse now with contactless.
Have bought:
Vitamins, water, nail varnish remover, toothbrush in Boots
Lots of food in various places Blush
Boxers and socks in primark (oh hang on that was £9 I remember as it was less than I thought)

ememem84 · 07/09/2017 18:11

£6-18 holland and barrat on dried strawberries, yoghurt raisins and pineapple crisps.

Pineapple crisps are yummm

ItalianWiking84 · 07/09/2017 18:21

My weakness is stuff for the girls and books for me Smile

WreckTangled · 07/09/2017 18:37

With a benefit in kind taxation charge do I get taxed on the amount of the charge or do I have to pay the whole charge?

It's ok dh got home just in time to clean the sick!

Today's spends £3 something in Tesco on lunch.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/09/2017 19:41

My spending weakness is def dd!! I can always find the money when she needs something some how Hmm

I am funny with smells as well, its def a thing, my mum does as well and gets headaches from all sorts of odour type things (air freshener, plug ins, perfume, smelly candles etc)

Raining here and getting dark.

Cagliostro · 07/09/2017 19:45

YAY my games that I ordered from Amazon US arrived already! And no customs charges etc. So that's £38 for two board games and shipping when if I'd bought in the uk it would've been about double that

CollieBobs · 07/09/2017 20:01

Phew at not being alone about strong smells. Whenever I walk into Boots all the mixed up scented makeup and perfume gives me an awful head / face ache. Shudder!

I just saw an awesome job but they won't negotiate part time hours. Sad most places aren't flexible with hours though. Going to focus on Council & NHS jobs if & when they become available.

I'm trying to think of Christmas ideas for men. Dad, father in law and brothers are all tricky to buy for. Apart from t shirts but I worry about getting the sizes wrong.

ememem84 · 07/09/2017 20:26

Jamie olivers lemon courgette linguini for dinner. Quick easy delicious.

Dh was late home. Again.

collie men are difficult for presents. My bil will be 30 just before Christmas. No idea what to get him for that.

My dad gets a bottle of wine/whiskey/gin, a book or an album maybe and some naice chocolate/sweets. His faves are dark chocolate oranges, some boozy cherrry brandy marzipan things, and wine gums.

This year he's also getting a "grandad" mug from baby boy.

SnugglySnerd · 07/09/2017 20:27

My weakness is also spending on the kids. Especially clothes and books. I had to exercise great restraint in Boots today!

I can't use anything scented in the laundry as 3 of the 5 of us have eczema so it's unscented non-bio all the way!

Fluffy how do you store your washing gloop stuff?

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2017 20:40

It's in a bucket in the utility. I used green soap but sainsburys do a plain white bath soap that's buav approved ie bunny friendly.

I've been looking at making felted wool dryer balls too. Eco friendly "bounce" dupe.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2017 20:43

Collie Are you on valued opinion surveys? E rewards are good, if you go on the nectar home page & type it in you will get a link to join.

I've had 450 nectar points today between our two accounts.

I'm using all this to pay for Xmas.
