Hi all, had a productive morning here baking and cooking. Made two lots of oat cake, one to give to a friend who is feeling poorly and one for us for pack lunches. Dd also made a banana loaf independently which looks delicious, used up old bananas so also frugal.

Also made a vat of bolognese and will split into portions to freeze Halo

Have been into town to get last few bits for dd before starting secondary tomos, spends; £17 in WHS on stationary, had £3 on an old gift card so used that actual spend £14.

£12.40 in Wilkos, more stationary, vitamins, half price conditioner and some seeds that were going very cheap.
£9 Primark clothes for dd (5 items of clothing for that as were selling of t.shirts for £1 etc!!)
£8 Subway Blush was an end of the holidays treat for both of us!!
£22 Sainsburys which included a £7 bottle of prosecco (which was what my friend had requested in return for giving us her sofa Grin )

Tomorrow am treating a friend for lunch for her bday, she always treats me so nice to return the favour. Also need to get petrol at some point, am finding my new little car does so much better on petrol which is brilliant.

£27 Sainsbury's. Stuff for the weekend competition and 2 Pyrex bowls in the sale for £2 each.

£10 class for me and DD tonight.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2017 17:49

£23 mb & £56 casino payout. It was a free deposit so pure profit.

I want to try the girl called Jack banana bread with chocolate. It looks cheap to bake. I'll look out for some over-ripe bananas reduced. Last night I cooked rice pudding on the hob, it cooked really quickly & best of all Dh hates it so I get to eat it all.

New cars a much cheaper to run now. You'll be in profit when your mileage is worked out.

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 18:09

Refund back from dune for the shoes I returned £58.33. .33p in my penny account, £50 paid off my credit card. The rest left in my account.

Dh also sent me the money for my hair so that's paid off my card too £126. Balance is lowering. Yay! Once it clears it'll be around £270 something and then I've got another refund of around £70 from joules to come. Final "big" payday is 21 sept. So will clear card then.

Fish curry for tea tonight. Dh working late though so it'll be a later dinner. Just got home and fed catface. She was excited again to have wet food. Will have to head back out in a bit to pick dh up but for now I'm on the couch in my comfies with a camomile tea.

Have changed my nail appointment (again). i asked the midwife about gel nails #vain and she said that the only reason they suggest bare nails is so they can monitor oxygen levels with the clothes peg thingy which goes on your finger. Apparently it's easier to do that if you have nothing. So. Ive booked myself in for a soak off and shape and polish. £15 instead of the usual £39. Can remove the polish myself with nail polish remover and will then just have bare nails for a while. Give them some breathing space.

And I managed a NSD. Wooooooooooooo

On the work front - I have trawled through the last 5 years worth of minutes and documents. We have emails saying a divorce is happening. Then no back up paperwork. I've emailed the "ex wife" to ask for the papers. The answer to this will determine what happens next....

LonelyOversharer · 05/09/2017 18:16

Well done fluffy only mr green paid out like that for me. Virgin just punted me out, but are giving me another £10 to lose on saturday.

I've ordered a block of foam, 12cm deep, but the top 5 will be memory foam. That will be comfy, right? £98 including delivery. Oh, I also spent £15 in the charity shop on 2 very big pairs of mens jeans, and a flannel shirt, I'm going to upcycle (dd1 rolled her eyes at me, apparently I'm too old to use this modern word) it into a skirt sewn onto a jumper to make a dress. I prefer your way of getting a sofa girlie a bottle of prosecco sounds a fab swap!

Best of luck to all our new starters tomorrow x

WreckTangled · 05/09/2017 18:39

Ds is fast sleep already! I don't think I'll be far behind him, I have a meeting tomorrow an hours drive away almost.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2017 18:51

Lonely Have you looked on PA to see which games have the highest return to player? I have noticed some games are on several platforms. I did genie millionaire today.

Wreck Did he go in OK?.

WreckTangled · 05/09/2017 18:53

Well he clung onto my leg like I knew he would but was fine and had a good day. I'm really pleased Smile

Laska5772 · 05/09/2017 19:32

Hmm,. I spent £85 in Waitrose.. some of that was on stuff we needed and some on naughty things.. (such a nice sarnie for lunch and a packet of onion bhajees which i have just scoffed for dinner) but i felt i needed a treat after yesterday.. Also bought a litre of Tanqueray Gin which was on offer and some nice rye bread crackers to go into cupboard (intended for, but probably wont make it to, Christmas!). Also a lovely big shoulder of lamb, as Dparents and Dbro over on Saturday. Actually.. given all the wonderful yummy things I think was pretty restrained!
.
I got home to find Dpusscat has not used his catflap ( again) and two days worth of meals were uneaten!.. I really dont know why this is all of a sudden, .. hes been using it since he was a young cat. , probbaly getting old and he has to jump up for it.. anyway he seems to be ok.just hungry . I expect the garden is littered with dead creatures though

Em What must it be like to have £200m plus and only just notice the loss of £150K?.. Different world.. (sigh, that will never be me!!)

Exciting stuff here too. Just put the winter duvet back on as I have been cold in the mornings.

Back to work tomorrow but working from home. I always work harder when I'm at home as I feel like I have to justify my existence. School bags are packed for DD1, after having a panic to find the shoe labels. Meat is out to defrost to make a casserole for tomorrow's dinner with leftover veg Halo

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2017 19:53

£70 school meals and £70 Aldi but £50 of that was cash to pay off debts and sports subs in the coming week. Refrained from Paying the £200 odd pound dance bill. I have 14 days from the start of term to pay it anyway.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2017 19:55

Steady ladies and gents (do we have any male frugaleers do you think? maybe a lurker) any way - dont get too excited you might give yourselves a funny turn and come over all unnecessary

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2017 19:55

anyone been to tenerife - where is good for families and beach but is not party central

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 19:56

Fish curry was amazing. Mmm.

laksa oh I know. How the other half live eh? It's bonkers. They're not my fave family to work with/for. The kids (all in their 40's) are very spoiled and entitled.

Laska5772 · 05/09/2017 20:14

Ha ha! Em I wonder if I know them? ( my BF works for someone over here whose family allegedly owns - and he has recently inherited - fairly large chunk of Jersey and they are all totally mad and utterly entitled, dreadful people all infighting over the Will .More excitingly, it seems that the deceased may have recently remarried without telling her children!

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2017 20:30

Oh how the other half live.

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 20:49

laksa oooh now I'm curious to find out who...?!?!

Mine aren't a jersey family they also don't own any assets here. Most are uk based.

Dh made the curry. Tesco Thai red curry paste (5 teaspoons) Iceland pollock, with chunky carrots, mushrooms and potatoes and coconut milk. Brown rice. Yum.

He's just been to coop. £50 exactly for a weekly shop (with meal plan). Legend.

Laska5772 · 05/09/2017 21:02

I'm struggling to keep up at the moment! Have just had a quick skim read as I'm very tired and need sleep.

Slightly spendy day although some of it was a gift voucher. Really cross I had a birthday card to post. Have lots of second class stamps but forgot about it so had to buy a book of first class as local shop doesn't sell individual ones. Frugal fail!

northender · 05/09/2017 22:33

Love I sympathise with your dentist bill. We've got a private dentist who charges a lot but is very good, so worth it in my book.
Cag hope dh's interview went well

Good day at work today, stuck to my packed lunch & snacks so no spends.
£35 diesel
Spent an hour at the cricket club book group tonight. I set it up & it's very frugal as you plan a year of books (1 per month) from an extensive library list. I then collect 15 copies from the library just before our meeting & we get them for up to 5 weeks. It's a great scheme and is working well so far, 4 books in.

Our extravagant holiday plans for next summer have been thrown into turmoil as ds has been invited to go on a cricket tour to Tobago in February half Term. He's really keen and we could go too (dh & I went to Trinidad & Tobago when I was pregnant with ds). So it's exciting, but lots to consider & dd is saying she doesn't want to go because of the long flight & the heat.

Cagliostro · 05/09/2017 22:49

Wow that's one heck of an opportunity! Could DD stay with relatives or a good friend?

Super tired and super anxious/paranoid about everything today. DD's not been great either - both Caglets really winding each other up all day and DD was quite anxious before bed.

Oddly finding value frozen mince sooo much better than fresh for Bolognese kind of sauces. Maybe it's because there's so much water in it, it ends up softer and less grainy. Frugal anyway so yay!

Loveabaconsandwich · 06/09/2017 06:14

Wow north Tobago sounds a great place for a trip. Difficult one if DD doesn't want to go though but do you think you can work on her?

I can barely contain my excitement about turning my work laptop on this morning. Ha ha.

DP has got up with DD2 so I am hiding in bed until it is time to get DD1 up at 6.30. Think it is going to be a shock to her!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/09/2017 06:26

Oh Tobago sounds like such a good opportunity. Hope you can sort something for dd.
Also how cag got some sleep and the anxiety has eased a bit this morning.

Tired today. Supposed to be going to the gym tonight. Will take my kit and see how I go. Nsd planned
