Thanks sunny that makes sense. I guess we will just see what the Dr says - hopefully she will be seeing us long before the prescription runs out anyway. It certainly seems that like many kids with ASD, she doesn't produce enough naturally by herself (unlike DS who has never had any issue sleeping) as the tablets have made such a difference. It does remind me though not to stop doing things that help raise it naturally (and particularly not getting lax about screens before bed as that interrupts it - we have always had to be very strict about that).

Feels a bit ironic posting this at 4am :o

thewaitresses · 05/09/2017 06:06

I used to work in a Spar and shoplifting was quite inventive - like a jacket with knots in the ends of the sleeves then filled up with ben&jerrys!

Yesterday was £50 petrol and £20 on birthday presents.

This month is very tight. Today I must put in the form to claim for KIT days.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2017 06:14

Shoplifting was the worst part of my retail job and practically a daily occurrence.

No other spends yesterday. None planned today.

Loveabaconsandwich · 05/09/2017 06:22

Employers can be a bit strange on KIT/ return from maternity leave italian . On one of my KIT I got sent into a legal process training session. The training was relevant to about 95% of staff, but I was one of the very few it had absolutely no relevance to in the slightest. I think my manager just decided she could get rid of me for the morning.

DD2 got up at 1am, then 5.30 and now up for the day at 6am. It's going to be a long day and I have to go to the dental hygienist followed by the dentist which is torture for the teeth Sad . No doubt I'll have to then pay upfront £96 for the next session too.

Glad to hear two of yoyr DC survived the first day back lonely and you the school run.

Good the melatonin is working for DD cag

WreckTangled · 05/09/2017 06:38

I never see anyone shop lifting round here, we don't even have security guards in many shops. When I worked in a chemist some kids tried to steal some perfume.

Seacow that looks lovely!

Lonely you're so clever!

Yes ds starts school today he'll be fine but I expect someone will need to pull him off of my leg until I'm out of site 😂

Loveabaconsandwich · 05/09/2017 06:42

Good luck wreck DS

I cannot wait for DD1 to return to school on Wednesday now. She is so whiney whiney!

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 07:15

Oh jeeez. I've been awake since 430. Eugh. Only drifted back to sleep probably at around 6 - I heard the 6am church bells... I needed to wee at 430 then bloody noisy upstairs neighbours were crashing around from around 5... sigh.

I was tempted to not go in but they'll be noisy all day, so I won't sleep anyway, and I have an appointment with the midwife at lunchtime. So will need to go into town anyway. Sigh.

Hoping for nsd. Have no spends planned.

northender · 05/09/2017 07:20

Shock at all the shoplifting stories. I've never witnessed anything like that, but obviously it must go on everywhere.
Work today so will make packed lunches and shouldn't need to spend anything.

LonelyOversharer · 05/09/2017 07:41

Ugh, day 2. Much less keen to get up thismorning! Ds went down at 2330. Despite a 2100 start to bedtime routine. He just doesn't seem to need much sleep or food.

Constant rain here. Feels properly like autumn and the heating kicked in this morning.

Two jobs today: source decent log lap to put a side onto the big shed (will have to be online, local supplier stopped doing it), and measure up and order a foam block for a new seat pad to fix the good but old sofa at the shop, that I will re cover and bring home. I am sick of the crap dfs broken jobby we have here.

Good luck to your ds today wreck

em it's pita, but a full nights sleep might well be a distant memory soon! Maybe catface, your bladder and baby boy are prepping you for it! I never slept well for the last few weeks. You certainly do reach the point where the baby is more comfy out than in I do wish you a baby who sleeps well though! Will the money be recoverable at all, or need to be written off if it's been spent on booze and fast cars/women? Am so nosy!

SunnyLikeThursday · 05/09/2017 07:49

Cag I didn't know that ASD people made less melatonin. How do you find that stuff out? I always wondered if I was a bit borderline, so knowing stuff like that would be very useful.

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 08:06

lonely re the money, it depends on how it's been done really. It's all ifs and buts at the moment. If he's been formally excluded he shouldn't have received the money - we are primarily at fault - breach of duty. You could argue he would have known he was excluded (he should have signed something if he was) and should have raised it. So fault on his side. So we could try and claw it back.

The family will be made aware and ultimately if they want it to try and get it back we will. Sounds ridiculous but the amount of money is nothing in the grand scheme of things. They have assets worth in excess of £200 million.

Cagliostro · 05/09/2017 09:33

Oooh pretty 😍 Am totally jealous of people who can knit/crochet. I have tried but get in such a muddle. 😳

Yup sunny I have heard it in a few places, it's weird really. Most areas apparently wouldn't even consider prescribing melatonin to children unless they have a diagnosis (including ours, so we didn't even mention it until we had the assessment results). I have to say it was a massive relief when it started to kick in so quickly, I just hope it lasts and it isn't something you can get 'resistant' to like antibiotics and such. Everything else we have ever tried (white noise, audiobooks, rescue remedy, worry monsters etc etc...) has worked for a couple of weeks tops. Fingers crossed this is different.

Laska5772 · 05/09/2017 10:04

Hi all love the wool lonely
Re Steak.. i once got stopped goingnout of sainsburys because the till hadnt deactivated the thingy in the packet of posh steak i had just bought for Dh birthday.. who knew they even put these things in the packet? I was Shock

I am just about to hit the M25 again ( we have spent far too much of our lives on it these last few days) Emotional day yesterday at Dh lovely cousins funeral- heck i really hope thats it for a while (we have v elderly parents both if us-i try not to think of these things) ..

It had a go at trying to be sunny here in Watford but failed..
Nsd yesterday but we did decide on a new sofa to order from JL in the next few weeks (old one over 25yrs old though) . And im hoping if i make good time to have a wander in Lymington high st ( posh shops!) Before getting ferry.
I am at our house here that Dh lives in during the week . I know we are fortunate to have it but its so sparsely furnished its like student digs. ( someone next door isplaying the guitar and drum machine i think right now.. hes rather good actually but Dh says they get really noisy and it has already been going on for some time today )
House was in terrible state when he bought it (before i knew him) but ok now but Dh refuses to do much to make it really comfortable as he says he doesnt want it to feel like home! We should carpet it though the wooden floors dont help with noise insulation. Anyway its his pension pot as he doesnt hav a work one and we are planning on renting it out io a housing association long term

ChristmasSeacow · 05/09/2017 10:33

Sorry Lonely I meant to say: magic loop for the socks. DPNs just seem to fall out when I use them Confused

Cagliostro · 05/09/2017 10:36

That sounds like a good plan laska but annoying he's not doing the place up a bit more. Would it be more valuable when renting out, if it were more decorated etc?

Hope everyone who has a first school day today is doing ok! And Wreck hope DS' grazes don't bother him too much.

I'm sitting in silence in the tiny hallway as DH is doing a very weird interview thing. It's for a different role at work (which incidentally would mean much less time chasing shoplifters) and it's done online - rather than speaking to an actual person, he has to go online where a recording asks him questions, gives him thinking time and then he has to record his answers using the webcam/mic. Soooo strange and he's feeling awfully self conscious. I'm just sitting by the front door as we've kicked the Caglets outside to play for the duration. Just realised I'd better take the phone off the hook as well.

Loveabaconsandwich · 05/09/2017 11:55

Good luck cag DH 🍀

£120 spent at dentist/hygienist. The dentist has said my teeth are looking better for it. Hoping next time, the hygienist can be reduced to a shorter appointment at a bargain £50.

Met an old colleague who now works there. My ex colleagues all look so chilled. Maybe it's because they were all able to take big pay offs and don't commute 3 hours a day. But they were at much later in their lives children/mortgage/pension wise so I couldn't do it as a relative youngster

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 12:17

cag ooh I've had to do one of those interviews. Bizarre. But in some ways preferable to the face to face ones. At least you have thinking time. Good luck to dh.

At antenatal clinic for appointment at present. I'm flagging today. Was tempted to go home after this but will stick it out. Only 8 days left after this. Then I can rest properly.

Laska5772 · 05/09/2017 13:38

Cag i probably made it soind worse than it is! Its all up together and decorated nice new kitchen last year (except we will be redoing bathroom before we rent out) . He just doesnt have much in it just basic furniture and stuff.. hesays itsbecause its not home.. where i am is home (aah Smile) . Am waitimg for ferry nicer down here but ihave forgorn the shops except quick dash into waitroseGrin

ememem84 · 05/09/2017 13:47

Dh went to Iceland yesterday (shop not country). And bought fish for fish curry tonight mmm.

He also bought a bag of chicken pieces. Pre cooked little bite size chunks which can just be defrosted and eaten. I think he paid £5 for a kg. Had them in a salad for lunch. I was expecting them to be a bit weird but they were actually ok.

LonelyOversharer · 05/09/2017 14:03

I have been shopping with my big girls. Art stuff. If I say it quickly it won't be so bad...hobbycraft £50, indepenant craft shop £8, what was staples £16. And £70 in asda. About £20 was food, 20 dogs, rest miscellaneous items!

Still raining here!

seacow I taught myself magic loop recently, but still use dpn's a lot, all my tiny toys are seamless. I use knitpro wooden ones which don't slip and are very pretty I love manos yarn. That looks merino-y, very nice. My cuffs (in pic, dug out for autumn) are manos, but an aran weight yarn. Accidentally bought 3 balls of the yarn in the pic in hobbycraft, thinking a sleeveless sweater.

Frugality and meal planning starts tomorrow.

The country would be a bit of a trek for fish and chicken I guess :o

Aww home is where the Laska is :o ❤️

Not done much today other than dying Caglets' hair! Feeling super hungry :( Angry

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2017 15:30

I need to know who's culpable before your ml starts Em Grin

Different scenario but dhs company lost a prestige car, & got broken into, couldn't see anything missing & about 6 months later realised a Smart bike had been taken. No one was ever held accountable for either.

£2 potatoes & soap. Making gloop tomorrow but I need Zoflora to scent it.

I've applied for a sun life over 50 plan for Dh, we should get a £100 Amazon voucher in 4 months so I won't get it for Christmas Sad but I'll use it to buy him two bottles of nice malt whisky when it arrives. He'll get whisky anyway off work so it's not like he'll be sober or anything.

I didn't do my free bet yesterday but should get £23 today for it.

Contacted nectar to get 200 points added to my account that got missed off. The next tu event is 19th sept & Dh needs brushed cotton pyjamas for winter so I just need another 500 points.

So, frugal day.

WreckTangled · 05/09/2017 16:56

Ds had a good day but hasn't stopped eating since we got home!

Nsd 🙌🏼
