lonely yep you've got it. Someone colleague who shall remain nameless has messed up royally. sigh.

WreckTangled · 04/09/2017 17:34

Under 8 is free to swim at our local pool.

First day back at work went ok. Bit slow as not all the schools are back yet.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2017 17:40

Oh em, not what you need when you are on count down.
Well done on the decluttering. I must get selling but am so so time short.

£7.50 + 20p skate park, £6 later for cubs, £1.50 sandwich wraps.

ItalianWiking84 · 04/09/2017 17:49

em your absolutely right no warning what so ever. My manager came 8.50 and announced it to me and at 9 am the course started. It was about sub taxation of properties owned by foreign investors Hmm I work for the Danish tac authorities.
And got told about the English lessons I have to give at around 3 just after my first part of the course ended. I feel apprehensive about it because I'm not sure my English is up to that level...
Also sounds like some deep mess you got dragged in to at work. When do you go on leave?

Dh did shopping 66£ Smile sound cover us until weekend so that's ok.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2017 17:52

Italian that's awful for you at short notice. I'm sure your English will be fine, your written on here is always good

Cagliostro · 04/09/2017 18:05

Yikes that's some high pressured work situations em and italian 😱😱

Spent today on a few housey things, and hair cuts for DH and Caglets (for DD it was the first time she has had anyone but me cut her hair!). And got hair dye but haven't braved it yet.

DS properly starting tae kwon do tonight. DH doing dinner before he is off to the pub quiz (he goes if he's off on a Monday because it's a rare opportunity to see all three of his older kids together!).

I have been brave (why does that keep autocorrecting to brace? I never write that!!!) and contacted some pupils' parents about 'maternity leave', maybe I'll get a few lessons out of it in the mean time, it has really lapsed since before I was pregnant due to illness, and then exams and summer holidays etc. Still feel crap about that but can't turn the clock back so just have to move forward. I really struggle with this because it involves talking to people I don't know very well. Much easier with those parents who are good friends IYSWIM. But I've been brace brave. So that's good.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/09/2017 18:07

You write English well Italian, you poor thing. They really ought to give you a day to catch up with the office generally and discuss what you'll be doing so you can plan. You'll have to get pg again.

Lonely I hadn't thought of doing that but I will now. Eventually you'll get caught out but you should make enough extra inbetween those times to make up for it.

northender · 04/09/2017 18:15

That's a rotten end to work for you Em and what a shock to the system first day back for you italian
Hope dd's first day at high school went well Girlie. Our dc go back on Wednesday. Ds has 4 friends here for a birthday sleepover tonight. They are having a pizza delivery so, if you can't beat em, join em, we're having it too! I've got a fitness class first so I'll have to earn it.

needastrongone · 04/09/2017 18:20

Italian That's really not fair to expect all that of you as soon as you walk back into work. Poor you.

Lonely Thanks, that's nice of you to notice. I'm a fairly decent runner I guess. However, the club is small and our guys are fast, but not seriously fast, so it's all relative.

Actually I was pleased they decided to go with fastest runners, regardless of gender rather than try to field a team of each sex just to remain 'traditional'. I was good to be judged on merit.

Today I witnessed a shoplifter! I was in M&S to grab a birthday card (I know I can get cheaper but this was a forgotten emergency!). I was stood choosing a card and this young lad ran into the shop, grabbed a pile of packets of steak and ran for it. The alarms went off and the staff ran over. I gave a quick description and apparently, this gang are doing it about 5 times a day if they can get away with it. £800 worth of steak last Friday.....

Spends - £20 M&S
£20 sports massage, loosening off all my tight bits!

needastrongone · 04/09/2017 18:28

Hope Girlie DD was okay, I have a feeling she was Smile

I'm busy blanching beans, and pureeing blackberries (nice drizzled on plain yogurt for breakfast.

My DC are not back until Wednesday but the traffic was definitely busier this morning.

Cagliostro · 04/09/2017 18:35

Good on you need glad you helped. DH is always stopping shoplifters but can't catch them all, their store isn't quite big enough for security staff. Main targets are steak... and formula milk. Someone nicked 13 tins yesterday to sell on, and he knows there will be parents coming in to buy it and not being able to because it's all gone. :( Angry

One student gone as moved schools but I expected them not to continue after exams TBH and actually makes my day easier really (was my late evening pupil). So that I can deal with!

needastrongone · 04/09/2017 18:38

Cag Yes, the staff said steak, which they sell in the local pubs apparently. When they've done with the steak, they move to the chicken!

WreckTangled · 04/09/2017 18:39

Poor ds went flying on his friends scooter and now has a bashed head, elbow and shoulder. He's struggling in the pool because the water hurts his grazes.

Wow need people are just awful.

Italian your English is really good I wish I could speak a language fluently

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/09/2017 18:52

Stealings so wrong find out which pub for me though people entitled to cows milk or formula in the health clinics used to choose formula & sell on. They changed it to only for babies under one in the end, unusually high rates of 4yo in that town on formula.

Ouch, chlorine in cuts won't be very nice. They'll be super clean though.

ememem84 · 04/09/2017 19:00

italian leave in 9 working days!

It's a pain to be honest. But I'll at least be busy. Essentially, it looks as though we've been making payments automatically to someone who isn't technically (I think) allowed to benefit from a trust. It's something that has come to light recentLy. To the tune of about £150k.

From what I've seen so far, it looks as though said person was married to a beneficiary of the trust and entitled to benefit but divorced so ceased to be.

Best case, the divorce was either stopped or they weren't specifically excluded from benefitting, or they've spent the money on their kids education or something . I'm going to spend tomorrow piecing things together and seeing what I can find. Hoping for a lovely email or something that says "xyz can continue to benefit providing its for the children" and then all i have to do is contact them and the school for confirmation. And get the schools bank details so we can make payments directly in future.....

£35 in dunelm this evening on lamps and bulbs. Yay! New lamps.

We also ran out of cat biscuits. Catface was most impressed tonne back on the wet food today.

needastrongone · 04/09/2017 19:00

GrinGrinGrin@ Fluffy.

I didn't know that about formula though.

Ouch wrecked, your poor DS.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/09/2017 19:31

Em Good luck but you knowthey've blown it on fine wine & dining.

Or worse.

ememem84 · 04/09/2017 19:56

fluffy I know. One can but hope. its an interesting one. And I know it probably won't be resolved before I go on leave.

My guess is the persons spent the money partying, on busty lovelies and other paraphernalia.

ChristmasSeacow · 04/09/2017 21:20

Cag you should be able to change the sensitivity of the trackpad. I've done it before, somewhere in control panel there is a thing for the track pad.

Can't believe gangs target M&S steak! I knew baby formula was a target though, in our local coop it's behind the counter with the fags and booze, you have to ask for it!

DS has had a bad day - he's been really highly strung and any slight thing has sent him into a state. Welcome to the holidays! It's probably because we're not at home, even though we've done much the same trip for the last 2 years. We went for lunch in a lovely fish restaurant today - it was our main eating out treat of the holiday. The staff were very understanding about DS's cheese sarnie picnic and general edginess. Food was wonderful though mine went a bit cold as I was holding DD and trying to eat with one hand

DD threw up all her stomach meds tonight so I eagerly await the outcome at 4am Hmm

I was very unfrugal yesterday and spent £££ on some amazing hand-dyed yarn in a lovely claret colour. I am going to make myself a snuggly poncho thing. I only went in for some sock yarn as I decided I would knit socks this holiday as it's a good portable project that i might manage to chip away at even when holding DD. Never done it before. I did buy sock yarn as well as posh yarn though so I've started my first sock today.

Good luck to all the kids going back to school, and those starting: Wreck DS i think, anyone else?

ChristmasSeacow · 04/09/2017 21:25

Our view this morning directly from the front of our holiday home. DS is loving running around in this garden!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/09/2017 21:42

Thank you for thinking of dd lovelies but she actually starts Wed she had a small melt down tonight trying on all the clothes, getting the P.E kit sorted etc. Think its just completely overwhelming for her, will be glad to get Wed out of the way tbh.

Took dd and her friend swimming which was £5 but actually the friends mum paid so was technically free.

There use to be a bloke who stood at the end of the road to dds school selling tins of formula Hmm

SnugglySnerd · 04/09/2017 22:03

Busy day! Very tired. Spendy too. Spent about £40 in Sainsbury's. I only went for diesel but they'd run out so I had a look round instead. Oops!

The checkout lady in Asda told me people also forget the formula vouchers. I can see why there's a market for it knocked off to be honest. It's bloody expensive! I'd have thought it was a bit bulky to easily steal though.

Every time I go in Aldi someone is chased by security. I think shoplifting is actually very common.

LonelyOversharer · 04/09/2017 23:16

seacow I need pics of new yarn. It's the law! Are you knitting on dpns or magic round for the socks?? I have but one beautiful rainbow sock made, before I moved on!

Tonights spolis... few more rounds on purple jumper, body, legs and elf hats!

Cagliostro · 04/09/2017 23:42

Thanks seacow I'll try that tomorrow, took a freaking AGE to get the tesco order done today :o Angry

DS loved tae kwon do today. First proper lesson after a free trial in July. Came home and showed me a routine. Proud mummy!

Cag I had heard with Melatonin, that it was short term use, because otherwise the brain would get a bit lazy at manufacturing its own melatonin. The idea was that it could do that, when it's seen that there is plenty sloshing around the place anyway. If that happened, and then your dd stopped taking the melatonin supplement, then she'd suddenly find that her body couldn't make enough of its own melatonin any more. If that happened then she'd find that she was physiologically unable to fall asleep without the supplement.

Having said that, I just did a quick google and there's a review paper here from "Neurological Research" journal that says there are no long term effects. So that's encouraging. I wonder if they just stick to short term use just in case?
