laksa yep. Sadly. And not all the nurseries offer the same facilities. This one I saw today was Maybe middle-higher end facilities wise and hours wise. Open from 7 to 630. And is in a convenient locations for us work wise. It was lovely. Very child led - they don't move to the next room until they're ready (and even when they are they do half days in the bigger room etc to get them used to it). It has a chef - the menus looked amazing- and I've heard that the owner/manager pays her staff too whack too but expects a lot from them. All staff are first aid trained which I'm told is unusual - usually it's one or two to a room, ratios are small.

I've put our name on the list as interested in a space for next year. So we are reserved but to formally do it we'll need to pay a weeks fees and complete the paperwork. Have a couple of others to see though.

Today's spends

£8 in Waitrose on things for red Thai curry.

£5 at the beach bar on a cookie a pint of draft Pepsi (yummmmm) and a pint of lemonade for me and my sister.

£6 garden centre in reed difuser oil and reeds. I have the jars from white co and it's so annoying they don't sell the oil separately. So have bought the same smell to refil ours.

ememem84 · 17/08/2017 18:24

I had housework goals today. But haven't achieved any of them. I've unpacked all my Amazon baby haul. Cardboard is stacked by the front door for binning and things have been put back in their correct rooms at least. Tomorrow will be a bit more chore-y.

Oh and dhs hypercolour tshirt arrived. It is a thing of beauty awful but it was just a fun gift.

We had a good day today. Playing cricket with apples off the apple tree, and balloon badminton in a high wind. Ds is well exercised.

My teeth came in straight on their own. I hadn't realised that was a thing before, but I will take the time to be pleased about it today. Nice to know that something works.

There's a ton of stuff going on here, furgaleer-wise and in all other ways, but I've learned not to blab all my private stuff online, which is making my posts a lot less interesting. :-)

CremeEggThief · 17/08/2017 19:11

Sorry for your losses, Laska. Sad Thinking of you.

Just watching the news from Barcelona. SadAngry It's one of my favourite cities, although I haven't visited for 10 years.

NSD.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/08/2017 19:14

Sorry Laska, nothing like close relatives passing to bring your own mortality home to you.

Meadow Good luck moving, takeaways are practically mandatory when moving.

Yesterday
£8.60 Px fee
£2 postage
£1 crisps
50p guide dog box
45p chickpeas but got them free on green jinn app

Today was 87p on sainsburys jeggings & a dressing gown for Dh. The other £25 was nectar points.

CremeEggThief · 17/08/2017 19:15

DS was recently assessed for braces. The orthodontist said he was borderline. He was reluctant to go ahead with treatment and in my opinion, he wasn't prepared to put the effort and work into maintaining braces for the next few years, so we decided not to. He might regret it in future, but I think it was the right decision for him/us at the present time.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/08/2017 19:22

Thats really sad Laska Flowers

Its really hard to make decisions on things like nurseries before the baby is born, I can remember feeling overwhelmed by it as well. And its so much money Shock

Boy cat is demanding attention and biting my hand as I type (as how dare I type rather than give him affection!)

We popped out for a bit for a change of scene spent £5 in coffee shop, £1 on a gardening book and £1.20 on a paper.

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/08/2017 19:25

I'm so sorry laska

Good luck meadow

ememem84 · 17/08/2017 19:33

Sorry to hear your sad news laksa xx

Good luck meadow

WreckTangled · 17/08/2017 19:36

Ah laska that's so sad Flowers

Horrific news from Barcelona too. Makes me not want to go anywhere ever.

SnugglySnerd · 17/08/2017 21:07

Sorry to hear your news, Laska. Flowers

Also horrified about Barcelona. I wonder what sort of world I've bought children into at times.

Just got back from Aldi. They have a baby/toddler event and have some great stuff including things like stair gates and travel cots for those of you who will be needing them soon! I got some bath toys and things that will be Xmas stocking fillers. That means I have officially started Xmas shopping 2017!

Had a lovely day today at home with the dcs. What made it really special was that DD1 told DH she'd had a really lovely day and she liked playing with the babies best of all. That was quite a magical moment for me as I spend so much time worrying that she's bored while I'm dealing with them.

Laska5772 · 17/08/2017 21:13

Thanks all, for your thoughts, not really the place to post, i know , but I just felt that i had to write something down about it .. it seems that it was a only a chest infection that actually killed him, but the leukemia had completely weakened his immune system..

sad sad sad . nothing else to say..
but thanks ..

WreckTangled · 17/08/2017 21:16

My nsd turned into a spend day. £13.75 on a Joules knitted poncho for dd. It'll be for Christmas (I too have started snuggly). She's been wearing my lambs wool wrap thing all afternoon and has asked me to get her one. I saw the Joules one in the eBay outlet for £22 then did a search and saw a secondhand almost new one much cheaper! So quite pleased with that.

WreckTangled · 17/08/2017 21:17

Ah laska I'm so sorry Sad

needastrongone · 17/08/2017 22:09

Laska, say what you need to say, wherever you need to say it. There's no right or wrong here and that's fine and I for one am very sorry for your loss.

creme, DS's teeth were not bad enough to warrant work on the NHS, but they did offer a private discounted rate of £3kGrin

needastrongone · 17/08/2017 22:10

87p? Good going indeed fluffy

LonelyOversharer · 17/08/2017 22:52

Just checking in. laska I'm so sorry. I think need's right, it's okay for us to post anything on here that touches us.

Best of luck tomorrow meadow it's just one long day to get through.

Spent the day screen printing Confused I have got the hang of it, but the special waterproof paint is like tar. It took 3 goes to get the screen right. At least I know how to clean them off now! Lots to do tomorrow too.

Made rocky road tonight. Used a kilo of chocolate and have run out. Shopping again tomorrow. Went to morrisons today with my girls, £42 but that was lunch and tea, plus loads for the race. Coupon for £2 in points as well.

Hoping everyone has a restful night.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/08/2017 05:38

Lonely what are you screenprinting? You seem able to turn your hand to anything!

Sorry to hear your news Laska

Good luck with the move Meadow. I always find it's very hard to be frugal when moving house. And good luck with starting work. I usually find first days are not too pressured - just lots of new information to take in which is brain-tiring!

Snuggly I think we overestimate what kids need to be interested /engaged. Sometimes just hanging out is fine and it's lovely that DD is enjoying the babies.

Feeling any better after visiting the docs Fluffy?

I have had a strange day. Baby DD didn't sleep all afternoon (I even walked her round the streets for 90 mins in the buggy but she held out - and I swear she was smirking at me). Anyway, inevitably she got massively overtired and then screamed for hours and sounded to be in real pain.... it was very difficult. I was getting a bit worried about her TBH, and was glad my mum was here to help me. BUT she then slept from midnight till 4.15am - the longest ever! And now she's gone back to sleep and I can't because I've had 4.5 hours sleep in one block for the first time since she was born and am now buzzing!

I didn't get as much done as I hoped because I was v tired yesterday and couldn't think straight, and then DD kicked off. Oh well. Sometimes it's enough just to survive the day! I made a v yummy dinner though, this:

www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/c/chorizo__bean__pepper_and_butternut_squash_chilli.html

It's an old favourite of ours. I use two tins of beans though as I like them. We had it with garlic bread. I'll be eating it for lunches for days. It can be frozen but the squash goes a bit squishy.

The heavens have just opened here!

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/08/2017 07:00

That was good to have a longer sleep Christmas. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time there. It reminds me so much of my ds's early years. I hope it gets better soon.

needastrongone · 18/08/2017 07:23

Good news, sort of seacow, as I imagine the afternoon was extremely distressing for you guys. Your DS is being super isn't he?

I've just clicked on the link for the chorizo dish, very easy and looks bloody yummy. Kudos for you still cooking although I know you get pleasure from it.

I did have a quick flick on Amazon for you and they sell formula and deliver on Prime if you have it, so no need for that trip to Tesco possibly.

Wheelycote · 18/08/2017 07:24

Morning😴☕️☀️

WreckTangled · 18/08/2017 07:29

Glad you got some sleep seacow sort of!

Going to soft play with a friend today I'll treat myself with something from the cafe Grin also need to post my eBay bits.

ememem84 · 18/08/2017 08:37

Hmmm. Catface hasn't come out for breakfast which is unusual and half her food from yesterday evening has been left out.

I know yesterday was a bit of a traumatic day for her what with the vets and the injections and everything. I'm guessing maybe she just feels a bit floopy. That can happen right??

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/08/2017 09:10

Yes, like us they can feel rough for a few days & run a temperature.
