Thanks for the tips! Defo try the lidl mars bars next time!!

Coppersulphate · 21/07/2017 22:12

Thanks for the new thread Snuggly.
Lost a long post earlier. Why does that happen?
LSD just £3 on lunch, which is not like me but I was out and starving.
Cag, why not wait a few weeks and keep taking the stuff to the charity shop. A skip is great for big things but they are huge...even the small ones.
Lidl is brilliant for bakery and cheeses but there isn't one near me.
Oooh, Girlie, is DD excited about senior school?

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/07/2017 22:57

Cag Have you considered just freecycling all that stuff instead of hiring a skip? You wouldn't believe the stuff that people will take on freecycle here.

Girlie we had our leaver's service here today too. I wish we could just sing a few songs and then bugger off like in the olden days of 1980-whatever. I'm not sure why it has to be so serious these days.

mammymammyIRL · 22/07/2017 06:18

Thanks snuggly for new thread, when I get a free hour Hmm I'll catch up on the old thread but until then I'm committing to keeping up to speed with this one Grin

Sorry for epic post - I missed catching up with you guys

Friday I got paid - we get paid on thurs but accountant forgot to authorise our payrun so it got delayed by a day Sad it was fine as I've my standing orders organised for fri anyhow. I just signed up to RHfitness £15 and am browsing Amazon for a cheap heart rate monitor fitbits not in my budget Grin

Need & holly I got my running mojo back yesterday after an entire month of poor & horrible runs after my half marathon disaster, I went out & didn't think about distance just said I'm going to run for 20mins & turn around & run back- covered 2.7miles in 29 mins and felt really good about it Smile

Lonely I love your description of decluttering I'm very similar, every aspect of my house decluttering is a mammoth job Smile
Today the gods made my decision for me - I opened the opposite velux window, only on latch mind to usual today & it rained in on top of all my Unislim handouts. Have to throw them all out Shock

€70.61 on Tesco delivery including tea towels & 90 dishwasher tablets, just need bin bags & maybe a couple of bits with this plus butchers because dh spent a fortune last week Grin

One of our subcontractors gave me a €50 tip yesterday, I'm owed €40 from a friend who I ordered a dress for online & should get that back today & €90 refund from my bootcamp class that I'm collecting this morning also.
Dh sold his van for €125 - I don't care how little he got I just want it gone from our front yard Smile

Kittens went to their new home last night & their mom was neutered yesterday must pay bil's fiancé for that she won't tell me the cost & she got it a bit cheaper because the mom was a stray, I paid €50 for our Tom so think this is what I'll give her.

Bacon that's a horrible policy for Debenhams, I bet they could take it if they wished

Laska's post reminded me I need fuel & engine oil
Dd's school books are ready to collect but I need to get a few more bits too so might wait & do that altogether another day.

Exciting times regarding retirement laska my mother retired at 55 with a good pension she has no regrets. I've started contributing to mine this year & already have contributed €1150 myself so far this year, it costs me 60% of this due to tax reduction

Detest courgettes, dh's friend brings some from his greenhouse every year Confused

So cag could ye end up moving before baby? You are em aren't you?

My decluttering has been inspired by reading a quote by someone who said imagine if you were gone in the morning & someone else had to sort your shit out how would you feel about it? Some of the stuff I have I wouldn't even like dh to be doing it Blush. I'm lucky in that dh works for a waste removal company so he can just bring in the rubbish every day as I'm decluttering, we'd get a discount on a skip but free is so much better Grin

North I can't believe it was a year since you were hospitalised, feels like no time at all Smile

Welcome letmepeeinpeace you obviously have children Grin

This morning we're having spelt pancakes yellow stickered at Tesco last week 40c Grin
Dds camogie training cancelled due to weather yesterday €2 saved Smile promptly spent on a big toblerone for 4 of us to share, dd never had toblerone before so she was happy
€32 on gas & 10 pk of matches

I don't like Lidl cheese or Iceland cheese Aldi all the way for me & dc
Their massive jars of olives are good value & tasty I'm told, I buy but don't eat myself, they do a pack of sundried tomatoes without oil that are really good, cous cous, bakery is awesome so I don't go there very often Grin

Cag keep the oven & freecycle it when you're moving, it seems to be bothering you how to manage without it

Seems I'm lucky with our cat & dogs, dcat eats Aldi's cat nuts €2.25 for 2kg, dogs get a six pack of 400g cans €2.89 and my father sources 15kg of dognuts for €10. The catnuts & dogfood is weekly & I'm guessing dognuts last approx 4-5 weeks, will mark date on next bag to see.
Love when you see how much of a bargain you're getting by buying online em don't you?

Thanks all! Having written a list there's definitely enough to fill a skip 😱 but I think we will leave it for a while yet - we still have loads of smaller bits to sort out and it'd be wise to do that first, so there's less to store in boxes when we take things off the furniture we don't want.

Freecycle a good thought, could definitely do that for the oven if my anxiety can handle it (strangers coming to house etc) - otherwise there are some charity shops that collect big things. It's definitely not going to go though, it's true I am worried about managing indefinitely without it. The furniture is good for nothing but scrap wood. So many things are falling apart. 😳 This place is an embarrassment TBH, we have been making improvements gradually but am desperate to get it sorted properly.

There's a small chance we could move before baby but I'm due in less than 4 months so not too likely really. Just depends on the numbers, which have suddenly improved so much that it doesn't seem completely out of the question. When we do reach the top of the list we can't turn things down or delay the process really so just have to go with it even if I'm about to give birth 😂 so the more we can get sorted before baby arrives the better! We have so much crap to sort out and I'm scared of having to do all that with a newborn.

How much does moving cost anyway? Can't remember what we spent last time but we only had one baby then so much less to move!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2017 07:23

Morning
Spendy and chaos weekend to come.

Cag, depending on where you have it you can usually keep skips for a couple of weeks. Keep the oven though. Are there any scrap men around who would take it if you left out?

Sorry can't comment on Lidl, prefer Aldi. Also allergic to cats.

needastrongone · 22/07/2017 07:37

Hope your okay life and stuff is just busy.

fluffy Advanced night repair serum you say? It's a gap in my routine in that I've yet to settle on something that works, everything I've tried is too rich. Ta. I'm liking the Alpha A factor 50 daily moisturiser sample the M and S beauty box had, actually to the point where I would purchase full size when I have a discount code.

Brill news on the run mammy. It was literally months before I put my running watch back on when I started back, didn't want the pressure. Good call, go and run and enjoy.

Been a busy few days here's too and worked yesterday.

DS's practice expedition went really well. He packed slightly too much food and forgot his microfibre towel, but that was it.

We are doing a BBQ today....it's peeing down!!!!

Spends yesterday
£60 shopping for BBQ.
£35 on maths books on imaginary numbers for DS's holiday reading!
£30 scales.
£22 as went out for a friends birthday last night. Drinks.

Made £25 on my bundle, which I knew would sell, so £40 made in total this week.

mammymammyIRL · 22/07/2017 07:40

Definitely good to sort as much as you can before cagletini arrives.

needastrongone · 22/07/2017 07:42

I'm minimalist, hate clutter. I chuck out 3 things a day, always tidying. I also suspect it's why I don't switch off much though, so not good.

north. Meant to say, you're allowed to have residual anxiety and emotions about what happened a year ago. You'd have something wrong if you didn't. Look at how fantastically you've coped though. You should be proud.

Cagliostro · 22/07/2017 08:00

Agree north I can't believe it's a year already! But totally normal and expected to be feeling weird about it now Thanks

Always tidying is something I aspire to! Or at least to be capable of being generally tidy and keeping on top of it all. I am not a naturally tidy person at all. Definitely inherited the clutter bug gene from my parents, but trying to conquer it now, it's never too late right?

Just gathered more bits for charity this morning so that's something. Will talk to DH about skip plans too.

WreckTangled · 22/07/2017 08:01

I haven't got anything planned today. Need to pop into town to get dd's teachers presents no idea what to get.

£500 into joint account
£200 to my dad.

Just waiting for the CM bill and I'll know how much I have left for the holidays. Not much I suspect.

ememem84 · 22/07/2017 08:31

mammy no not moving now. Everything sort of fell through. We lost our buyer then lost the place we wanted then couldn't find another buyer so gave notice to the agents. It just all got too much so we decided that as we were sort of in control of the process we pulled our place from the market. It'll go back on next year when I'm ready.

I love knowing that I've got a bargain. On the downside I hate that I'm not supporting local businesses. But while money isn't the biggest thing in the world, why should I spend more than I have too?

cag you will be fine. get as much as you can done now. I'm so so glad that we did a declutter before we started showing the flat. We still probably have too much stuff but it's manageable.

The only thing that gets to me now is dhs laundry. Pile of clean clothes on the floor by the end of the bed. Pile of dirty clothes next to the washing basket. Why he can't put them in the basket is beyond me.

He also talked about getting a cleaner while I'm on leave to help with the big stuff. I've been banging on about this for years but he thought it'd be a waste of money up until now extravagance? Maybe. But helpful? Absolutely. Even if it's only for an hour or so a week/fortnight.

must get out of bed. Broadband people are coming this morning. Don't really want to be lounging in bed when they arrive!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2017 08:40

I'm fine need thanks, busy life and v disorganised which I don't like.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2017 08:53

cag Two of our neighbours have moved and both hired vans. Removal companies around here are £300ish. You can hire a man with a van too. Chucking out everything & hiring a van is the way to go. The people in the 4 bed detached behind us hired a van & did it themselves too come to think about it. I've chucked loads out over the years, never regretted it.

need I never believed the hype around it but I'm a convert now. Saving my survey money and cashback for the big size. It's not a moisturiser & I have oily skin so I was expecting a breakout but you just look better, I've found lots of serums too rich & you breakout straightaway. It's witchcraft in a bottle.

em Cleaner sounds sensible. You have a dishwasher I hope?. Maybe an ironing service too?. The couple accross the back from us have a fleet of luxury cars on the drive, 3 kids & both stay at home all day & even she has an ironing service. I always wonder what they do for a living. Dh says we'll find out on the news with everyone else.

mammymammyIRL · 22/07/2017 09:12

€76 including postage on new Fitbit charge hr in pink - cex were €72 on used in black. If I sell to cex I'll get €37. Advice on RH fitness was buy cheap buy twice. Between that & subscription I've broken even with my €90 cashback from bootcamp I'm ok with that

mammymammyIRL · 22/07/2017 09:22

Definitely get a cleaner em it's saved my sanity Smile

ememem84 · 22/07/2017 09:55

fluffy nope. No dishwasher. We thought about it when we had our kitchen redone. But would have used up valuable storage space. Our washing machine is in the kitchen right in the space the dishwasher would go as nowhere else for it to be plumbed in in our flat. Sigh.

Still waiting for the broadband people to show up. Anytime between 8-12. From reading Facebook posts there's a chance that although I've had reminder calls and emails and texts all week, they won't show up.

LonelyOversharer · 22/07/2017 09:56

mammy welcome back, I've missed you! Hr things are great. I have a garmin forerunner 235 (we get them trade, but thats only about £50 off rrp, garmin are shocking) and love it. I use it to count my steps, the time numbers fill up like water as I go along all day! I don't run much, but it does my bike rides too if I want. I do like that it keeps an eye on me!

I moved here with 2 men and a van, with a 3 day old dd3. It is do-able! I'd wait for the skip until you have a date, and sort of empty as you go. The skip people can always collect it once you've gone cag

lottery fluffy ?? One of my old school friends on fb must have won the lottery, she's been on eight foreign holidays in the last year, takes extended family etc. Not sure how much school her kids have had this year!

Have got a charity 100k bike ride tomorrow. £28 to enter, but it's for the kids hospice the shop is paying but it looks like I'm going to get wet!

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2017 10:08

I've wondered if it's lottery too. 2 audis, one Merc, one pick up thing, motor bike for the kids. New kitchen & extension just after moving in. Not cheap.

LonelyOversharer · 22/07/2017 10:15

Oh goody, look what came in the post, next day! Feels brilliant, silk mix. The lilac contrast is for pocket lining and inside the collar, will use lilac shell buttons.

Saving into summer!
Cagliostro · 22/07/2017 10:26

Thanks all. Thanks Feel a bit better now DH and I have discussed it too. :) We've agreed to wait for now, and monitor the housing results for a while. Once we are higher up the list we will sort out getting the skip, BUT we have also agreed that no matter what we will get it done before baby arrives.

Problem is with my conditions there is a very high chance that I will be quite unwell after even a straightforward birth, and need a lot of time to recover. It's an unknown entity really as I didn't have these illnesses when the Caglets were born. So we need to make that time as easy as possible really.

We've also talked about what furniture/appliances we will need, what can wait etc. Also starting to plan what we can start getting done now - obviously carry on getting rid of random crap but also there's some bits we can get packed now Shock - stuff like board games will still be accessible in boxes but we don't need them often, some books are for when the Caglets are older anyway, and we have some toddler toys to put away for the baby. There's so little space in here that anything we can sort and pack now is definitely going to help.

needastrongone · 22/07/2017 11:19

Em, if you have no dishwasher, then a cleaner is a must. Even for a few months after the birth, just until you get on your feet and into a routine. It's one less thing to stress about. I would marry my cleaners, they make more difference to my life than anything else!

Fluffy That's interesting. I prefer RL experiences. I now NEED the serum. But will wait. I'll sell enough stuff to cover the cost.

Right, in good news we will save an extra £200 this months, which I will stash for Christmas.

In bad news I've gone way over budget for food, but mainly as we've entertained I guess.

I've just booked DS's driving test, or rather he has and I've paid for it.

£65 Shock How much!!!!!!!!! He better pass....

Brownies made, indulgent chocolate cake in oven, on to salads, pony rug washes and reproofs paid for. Been to Sainsbos.

And I'm a tad hungover Grin

ememem84 · 22/07/2017 11:38

Broadband people still not here. I doubt they're going to show up before 12.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2017 11:43

If they don't email the CEO em.

WreckTangled · 22/07/2017 11:51

Ouch need! So expensive to learn to drive these days.

£14 on teacher presents and card.

£8.99 on 'passport' photos for ds (as he will need one for his buss pass) and toothpaste
£1.75 on chocolate for us all.

Lots of heavy showers today. I have hoovered the whole house and just put my second load of washing on. Ds has man flu.
