I'm also finding nothing is selling on Facebook sites or Ebay at present, so I'm sending lots of decent stuff to charity, bargain for some folk, less so for me. DD has had a clear out this week though, so I've some Jack Wills stuff to have a bash with.

My car said 37 when I got in it earlier! Went down to 30 when I started driving.

£66 vets. Ouch.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/07/2017 18:29

I have found that recently Need hard to know whether to hold on to stuff and try again or just donate it.

Its been really hot here all day but randomly just poured with rain Confused

Dds last football lesson tonight, hoping she will be able to join a girls team at secondary school next year as she really enjoys it.

Hope your dd feels better soon Wreck

I pay £70 a month for gas and electric which I think is too much but looked around and that was the cheapest I could get it. Two bed new build with solar panels!!

Wheelycote · 18/07/2017 18:37

Spendy day on the credit card - kitchen ordered. Managed to get a 0 percent credit card deal for two years. I will be frugaling lots to pay it.

There's going to be a sink!!!!!!!!! and cupboards!!!!!....I've missed having cupboards to put things in. Everythings in boxes and clear tubs and camping shelves. Its like a camping kitchen in here,...for 8 weeks.

Ordered from DIY kitchens - were going to collect it (saving 150 quid the robbing buggers) and going to fit the units ourselves but get a joiner to fit the worktop.

LonelyOversharer · 18/07/2017 19:06

Fun fact. B&Q and Screwfix are the same shop. But loads cheaper at screwfix. I am a regular there!

We fitted our own worktops. But we have a router which dp cut the sink hole out with. Bought the tops off ebay, solid oak, but after 2 years of using ikea pax shelves I would have been happy with anything. It was massively stessful and akward, I don't recommend doing it yourself! I still have only one set of cupboard doors. I doubt the kitchen bathroom, house will ever be 'finished'.

Laska5772 · 18/07/2017 20:16

75 dual fuel here with Ovo. 3 bed detached, but its only me here 4 days a week. im sure it will go up when i am no longer at work and Dh retires

. . So back to work , it doesnt seem so bad now I have decided to leave. have been having interesting chats with pension people. . I think its doable.. but yes ill be down to half of what I get now and the first couple of years will be tough . I dont qualify for state pension until i am 66 .( 59 now).

Once i have my 'ducks' in a semblence of a row ill put in my resignation migfht even be next week - ooh scary! it definately feels the right thing , even though its going to be tough for the first few monthsuntil i get my BT pension in December .. Ive worked pretty much f/t since I was 16 ..

Hair cut today £20 (inc tip!)..
then £40 in M&S! £14 of that was Wine (bad laska) and £15 some formal work trousers in the sale for DS.. (if they fit him).

Foodwise, I am inundated with courgettes and runner beans from the garden...

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/07/2017 20:21

We're £30 leccy, £20 gas. I think I'll be in credit with the leccy when we switch suppliers.

69p pitta breads.

Cagliostro · 18/07/2017 21:51

£23 dinner/taxi. Much needed child free time with a couple of friends

SnugglySnerd · 18/07/2017 22:03

Child free time? I remember that! We have spent our precious evening flat packing all the stuff we bought for the babies' room back in Jan that we never got round to assembling.

Almost managed and NSD. Had to buy milk and biscuits due to unexpected guest this afternoon.

Going to catch up with the thread now. Had a busy day.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/07/2017 22:11

Spent £13 in Lidls this evening on bits and pieces.

Hoping to eek out the food for another week at least...

Coppersulphate · 18/07/2017 22:46

£54 on diesel but I drive for work ( voluntary) so get most of it back in expenses.
I had a cupboard fitted on Monday while I was away. It was made to fit an awkward space. I came back today to find the shelves are wonky...like not level. Sloping! They are coming back to,sort it out.

CremeEggThief · 18/07/2017 23:20

I'm on pre-pay Smart Meters and since moving in almost 3 weeks ago, I'm spending just over £10 on both per week. I'm very careful about my usage though; every thing switched off at the wall ASAP, etc.

Spends: £6.10 return bus to Newcastle (bargain, as a return to Durham is £5 for a 5 mile trip!); £4.39 on a jacket potato with Longley Farm cottage cheese for lunch (accompanied by tap water!); 99p on academic year diary; £6 Primark, on a picnic blanket (£5) and nail buffer (£1) and free coffee and cake worth £5 from John Lewis.

WreckTangled · 19/07/2017 01:48

Woah. We're having the most insane storm I've never seen anything like it. It's lasted an hour constant thunder and lightning (fork and sheet) thunder making the house shake!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/07/2017 06:10

Did I post yesterday. I forget. £10 Morrison's but got stamps.
So tired and disorganised. Also not frugal cos of it need.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/07/2017 06:11

£122 per month but that too high I think. Set by new supplier when we transfer. 3 bed semi, 4 people

Wheelycote · 19/07/2017 06:53

We have been £130 for dual fuel. That was for 1 adult and two teens who consume electric with all there gadgets and PlayStation and long showers.
New house, were on standard tariff for now and last week had prepayment meters. The smartmeter went in last Friday and were guzzling the fuel!! I wreck on we're heading for 150 quid for a month and its summerShock

How much your all paying for lec and Gas is eye opening! I'm sitting down this Friday and switching to sainsburys energy in a fixed rate and having a family meeting can feel the teens rolling their eyes, even now to get the daily usage down in cost.

WreckTangled · 19/07/2017 07:05

Argh my alarm didn't go off!

I've got training in Crawley today. Blah. Will have to pay for parking but can claim in back

LonelyOversharer · 19/07/2017 07:05

Ugh. Up too early!! Got 2 school runs to do today, as dd2 is on her away day, has to be in school by 8, will change to the little car (kept at the shop) come home and pick up the littlies. Dp can ride his bike in.

So, it looks like I pay the most in utilities! Cannot get it cheaper though. Plusses are no water meter, still £38 a month for water, it has gone up a tenner this year, and band a council tax. My ex council house was built between the wars, and is very solid.

Right, must find clothes and make lunches! Dodge the storms everyone, don't think they'll get as high up as us, but take care out there today.

ememem84 · 19/07/2017 07:10

Dinner last night was lovely. Nice to catch up with counterparts at the bank. But man I'm feeling it today.

Didn't sleep too well - thanks to the lovely cappuccino I had. We sat outside for dinner , it was 29 degrees here yesterday. And I stink of cigarette smoke. Eugh. My hair reeks. I only realised this at 3am so couldn't really wash it then.

We've started catface on "fuller for longer" type biscuits. So far so good. She seems to like them and is less "beggy" for food. Dh read on the packet that because she's a neutered cat this can effect their hormones so she may not be able to regulate her hunger properly. Hopefully this stuff will help.

Same brand - royal canin. Ordered £3.5kg from Amazon last night £10.54 via prime so it actually works out ever so slightly cheaper than the other stuff we were buying.

Today I have another cake to bake and another drinks thing this evening. Same people as last night. I'm only going for one to show my face and to say hello to the bank teams boss. Then I have lunch with her on Thursday... sigh. Busy life all this networking...!

My maternity cover person starts in 2 weeks. She's on a 6 month contract so hopefully that means that they're considering my request for flex hours. Which by law they don't have to do here.so it's moving in the right direction anyway. We have cover for me which we didn't have last week.

SnugglySnerd · 19/07/2017 07:59

We overslept too, Wreck. Envious of your storm though, I live storms!

Just doing a meal plan. No nursery over the summer means thinking of lunch as well as tea for DD. I think I'm going to be making big pots of soup or pasta to last the week.

Cagliostro · 19/07/2017 08:04

Have fun here in Crawley wreck I suppose there's worse places to have training in :o

We will soon be paying £98 a month in electric (no gas supply here). 4 of us in tiny two bed. It was £69 a year ago but tariffs have increased twice. Angry Can't switch because we are on a weird dual tariff due to storage heaters, which we don't even use because they are shit, but the landlords won't remove them. Hmm

DS trying a new class today. He likes pretending to do martial arts kind of moves (mostly due to an awesome cartoon called Avatar the last Airbender...). A friend does taekwondo so we are trying it with them. Really not sure he will join in but would consider it worthwhile if he enjoys it

Loveabaconsandwich · 19/07/2017 08:14

On a busy train to Bristol but luckily had a seat reserved. Is quite a nice journey through beautiful countryside once we get going so can't complain too much. Train wi fi isn't working though

£4.60 on hot chocolate and pastry. But collecting my receipts today as some expenses can be claimed.

I slept through the storm Grin

We recently changed gas/electric so not sure what we are due to pay as DP sorted it. I think £70 ish for a 4 bed detached

WreckTangled · 19/07/2017 09:03

Haha Cag yes Brighton is worse! I'm waiting for the cafe to open so I can get a coffee. Parking was £5.

Snuggly my dc love soup for lunch. They also love a picnic lunch where they just have crackers, fruit/veg sticks, a mini sausage roll and a few crisps.

needastrongone · 19/07/2017 09:15

Life, we can rock and shake in a corner together if you like? Smile

Blimey. Large house. New Build. Teenagers that leave every single light on and charger plugged in at all times. Washer on constantly. Doors open wide all the time. We are the least frugal family in this regard. I pay £110 pcm for both gas and electric. I'm thinking that in the main, it's because the house was built to a very high insulation specification and appliances were all new and A star rating. Just shows it's hard to compare.

Good to see you back Laska.

I still find it easier to make lunches in the morning Snuggly, even now. We are on the go so much during the day.

Spends today
£45 farrier.

There will be more.

Coppersulphate · 19/07/2017 09:28

I pay £36 per month for electricity.....no gas in village. I have heating oil for boiler for water and heating. I use my wood burning stove for heating mostly though.
Small 4 bed detached with just me in it. I am very careful though. Everything goes off at wall.
