Phew! I've caught up now.

The post-baby bump is okay I think. I'm the person who doesn't have it, but that is because my digestion went wonky post-baby and I am off almost all fat and all sugar. Tbh, I think it's probably better to enjoy your food and wear the maternal figure with pride.

Our camp was good. It was so nice to be out of the city and to see proper trees again and messy weeds and have space. Everything in our city is so tidy and packed in, and all the lawns looks as though they've been cut with nail clippers. It was great to be in proper wilderness, and with a nice fire to sit round, and company all the time.

I came back to two emails from people who want to put my science photo on big posters to advertise their organisation, which was nice. The picture is only relevant to one of them, but that doesn't seem to matter. I got invited to a party where one of the posters will be stuck up, so that was doubly nice.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/07/2017 06:16

Well done wreck DD
Pleased you had a good time sunny.
Love, hope the poc is improving and you get away.

Another glorious day forecast. I'm at work though.
Omg game of thrones last night. Eeeeeek.
Still need stamps

Loveabaconsandwich · 18/07/2017 06:17

DD2 got me up at 5.15am. No chickenpox yet.

Yesterday's frugal things
An Amazon warehouse toy arrived broken. So contacted them and getting a refund and get to keep the toy. It is broken but works

My childminder gave me her daughters old Rainbow's hoody and trousers. So may just buy a new t shirt or look for one on eBay

DP swopped phone and broadband provider for a cheaper deal. Paid our line rental upfront as cheaper.

Tesco delivery today. £64 Shock but stocked up as DD1 is not getting her school lunches for 7.5 weeks now

Might buy a trampoline for the DC later. We decided we would get them one a while ago but haven't got around to buying it.

mammymammyIRL · 18/07/2017 06:28

Again this thread has fallen off TIO Sad

ImAFurchester · 18/07/2017 06:34

Went to Aldi yesterday - god I love it there. £53 but I also have to get a cab home as can't drive - £5.

Still less than I'd spend on Ocado.

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/07/2017 06:38

What do you buy in Aldi Furchester? I've never got the knack of it.

ImAFurchester · 18/07/2017 06:53

I get everything there! My whole weekly shop. Plus nappies & wipes for DS.

Their meat is excellent.

WreckTangled · 18/07/2017 07:05

Mammy if you go into settings you can make threads stay on your tio for longer.

Dd isn't well she has a temperature. Trying to see if my step mum will have her as Dh and I both have important things on at work today. If not we will split it so I work morning and he works afternoon.

Ds woke up at six and is now really grumpy as had a late night.

He cat has an appt at the vets later as he needs another steroid injection, first this year though which is an improvement on last year.

ememem84 · 18/07/2017 07:07

Omg game of thrones!!!! Yaaaaaasssss!!!

£6.99 on a now tv voucher for the month so We can watch it.

We also watched league of their own USA special last night. I'm not a fan of sports quizzes but this one makes me laugh. And it wasn't a quiz so much as the guys messing about in America doing stupid challenges. I also love jack Whitehall.

Work today. Day 2 of a 4 day week. Yippee.

Dinner out tonight with a colleague and people from the bank. We're the client in this one. Should be nsdinner. Yay!

Wheelycote · 18/07/2017 07:27

Morning All!

Can I ask how much you all pay lec and gas a month please???

I have a smart meter now and tt looks like were spending on average £3.50 a day. The dryer, cooker, kettle and shower ramps it up.

£150 save on fitting the bathroom sink, although parts have cost me approx £60. The plumber didnt turn up on Friday, so I've fitted it myself. Thankgod for plastic piping and pushfit systems and the lovely guys at screwfix and plumbcenter.

Would recommend you get yourselves a Screwfix, Toolstation catalogue. Some things are cheaper than B&Q, Argos, Wilko.

WreckTangled · 18/07/2017 07:31

Wheely we pay £100pcm electric only here.

Em I love league of their own!

I'm secretly looking forward to working half a day. Not sure how my manager will feel....

Coppersulphate · 18/07/2017 08:21

Just starting to catch up after being away.
Wow Wreck, well done to your DD.
Glad you enjoyed camping Sunny. Your campsite sounds like my garden. And brilliant about your posters. I think you may be secretly famous😀😀😀😀

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/07/2017 09:54

Thanks copper. I'm a tiny bit famous in a very small corner of Geekdom, which is the way I like it. Your garden sounds perfect. Smile

CremeEggThief · 18/07/2017 11:55

Well done SunnySmile.

mammymammyIRL · 18/07/2017 12:00

Wreck I took a half day on Friday it was super to walk out & leave frantic Friday to someone else Grin
I had organised everything for the evening & for following day but I was gone out the gap Grin Enjoy Smile

WreckTangled · 18/07/2017 12:12

£30 on two Michael McIntyre tickets. It's in December so can be dh's birthday present.

Dd is ok but not herself. After not having any dinner last night I've managed to get her to eat a few dry crackers and some orange juice.

Taytocrisps · 18/07/2017 12:40

I did another clear out of two drawers today. My own drawers this time.

DD helped me and I'm paying her €5. I think the charity shop ladies will be a bit confused as it's an odd mix of normal clothes and wacky stuff I got as presents and never wore e.g a tasteful frilly leopard print Penneys number that my sister gave me as a joke Christmas present (still has the tag on). Oh, well, hopefully they'll make some money out of it all.

I'm also washing a few of DD's baby gros and little girl clothes (we kept them so she could play dress up with her dolls) before passing them on to the charity shop. God knows what the neighbours will think if they spot them on the clothesline Grin.

Spends today:-

€5 for dance class rehearsal

€3 for Scouts

Few cents for carrots

Taytocrisps · 18/07/2017 13:12

Wheely we pay approx. €75 a month for electricity.

There's no gas in our area so we use home heating oil to heat our house. Costs go up and down as oil prices internationally go up or down. Currently it's €295 for 500 litres (half tank) or €565 for 1000 litres (full tank). It's more economical to buy it in larger quantities. We don't have to pay for oil in summer as the heating is off then.

Taytocrisps · 18/07/2017 13:13

Wreck sorry DD isn't feeling well but enjoy your unplanned half day.

thewaitresses · 18/07/2017 13:50

Just spent around £25 on some holiday bits like travel wash, ready milk etc.

Wheely we just got a smart meter so maybe we can compare? Unfortunately they could only connect the electricity one for the time being. We're a family of 5 in a small 3-bed and highest daily total so far is under £1.50. I'm amazed at how little the economy wash on the dishwasher compares to other washes! Surprised that we still clock up 50p a day when we're away for the weekend. I'm presuming some of it is fridge/freezer etc and some standing charges?

Taytocrisps · 18/07/2017 14:43

Just got locked out of my house Blush. I was out the back hanging out clothes when a big gust of wind caused the utility room door to slam shut and lock! I could get into the utility room but I couldn't get any further into the house. DD was out playing with her friends. Luckily I nagged her to take her key with her (she usually forgets). I had to climb over the side gate and get the key back off her. It's been a long time since I climbed over a gate. Anyway, lesson learnt - I'll make sure to prop that door open in future.

Loveabaconsandwich · 18/07/2017 15:03

Oooops tayto but at least you solved it

Had my £98 40 minute dental hygienist appointment. Have a very numb mouth and feeling quite irritable now

Have fortunately got both sets of grandparents to do the next two days of childcare. I have a meeting tomorrow, travelling 3 hours there and back. But then one more day in the office on Thursday and then I am off for a week and a half!

I always quite enjoy the sick days I have to take off with DC wreck . Obviously I don't like it when they are really poorly but DD1 has actually been great company the last couple of days and all we can do is chill at home as she is contagious

Cagliostro · 18/07/2017 16:32

Mmmm lovely carte dor ice cream at the park after the picnic (meet up for home edders with autistic children). £2 a scoop but really generous scoops! May meet a friend for dinner later so ££ depending

needastrongone · 18/07/2017 17:35

There really isn't a cheap way to do Disney we have found, we've done it 3 times. Staying in an apartment and eating in helps, but it's the park tickets in particular that really ramp things up. But if you do Disney, agree you just DO Disney. And hold your breath about the cost Grin

Glad the camping trip went well Sunny, can I have your autograph Grin

Brill news about your DD Wrecked.

I'm a bit snowed under here with stuff, so I haven't had chance to keep up in detail or post, I think it's just end of term madness etc. Nor have we been very frugal, due to my lack of planning because of this fact.

Ho hum.

DS has gone on his D of E practice today, it's 26 degrees so rather warm

OP posts:
LonelyOversharer · 18/07/2017 17:35

Very hot here today, for Cumbria! Car said 29°

Worked until 1, then went on my bike for an hour, 17 miles. Then worked until pick up. Dd2 was 15 minutes late out. Grr. Playground has no shade. Ds was overheating, and I was a bit cross with my poor dd - it wasn't her fault at all. Bad parenting moment.

Went to the feed shop for chicken food £18, then £38 in tesco on cool stuff (lollies), and a bit of a top up.
Home now and cba cooking tea. I suppose I have to.

I pay £128 elec a month (was £85 last year, same provider, thats the cheapest I could get full stop), but we run lots of vivariums, a 6' tropical fish tank, and two huge (ok they're a++ rated) freezers. Off grid gas, so have a propane tank. £100 a month, but this is for the combi boiler and gas oven (I mostly use the electric one) and hob. 3.5 bed semi with 6 people.
