Thanks Fluffy I'll look into that.

Justsaw Scholastic book sale today online. Ends midnight. Many books £1. Might need a good chance to get some stocking fillers for Christmas.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/07/2017 11:48

Will look into that cat litter as well, I have found an odour absorbent Sainsburys own to be the best so far.

Carpet cleaner has been in this morning and i am so pleased my carpets look better than new Shock only £40 which I think is brilliant value. Have also been cleaning upstairs which is pretty much done now. Just need to do hard floors and down stairs loo and the house will be all done Halo

I can't think about Christmas yet, it will be a tight one budget wise thats for sure!

Snuggly i would just get the babies a few little bits and some clothes, like you said they won't know any better!! Would you get a way with just doing stocking gifts from Father Christmas only for them?

mammymammyIRL · 14/07/2017 13:22

Hi all
I really want to catch up with you guys but things are so busy at the moment.
I'm not being spendy though so I'm still a frugaleer

ImAFurchester · 14/07/2017 13:51

So I just started tracking my spending today with TOSHL - it's quite addictive isn't it!!

Today I've spent £3 on bus fares, £4.70 taking DS to soft play, £1 in the charity shop, and £1.60 on milk and cream cheese.

Usually I would get us lunch in the soft play cafe too but I made DS a packed lunch today and just went without myself.

£15 on nappies too, massive pack from Amazon. Kids are expensive!!!

CremeEggThief · 14/07/2017 15:03

That sounds good, Furchester. Keep going with it.

£18.66 on my card in Asda. That included 2 cards and an outfit for a friend's new baby. Got my first Morrisons' delivery coming tomorrow, as they deliver in my new area. Excited!

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/07/2017 15:21

£5 hot bap
£1.25 water
£5 coffees in a hipster cafe
£6 bag of the coffee beans used, hipsters obv know coffee.
£2.50 ice cream

Need petrol to get home.

ememem84 · 14/07/2017 15:28

£7 on ice cream for me and lovely friend.

We went for lunch at lovely cafe. Ordered food - croque saumon (smoked salmon cream cheese toasted sandwich for the unfamiliar) for me and galette complet (ham cheese egg) for her. Friend ordered a wine. The waiter turned to ask me what I wanted but said I wasn't allowed alcohol in my condition. I thanked him for his concern but it wasn't his decision to make. I didn't want one anyway he pushed it and pushed it and my very bolshy friend just got up and said that we were leaving.

The manager came over and smoothed things out and said our lunch was on the house. Result.

So we then went for ice creams for desert. Mmmm.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/07/2017 15:39
Shock

Cheeky sod.

Cagliostro · 14/07/2017 15:44

Wow what a git! Glad they comped your lunch

100yearsdotcom · 14/07/2017 16:22

Worth the hassle for the free lunch em Grin not really but at least you got something out of it I stayed strictly within all guidelines whilst pregnant as I had so much else going on it wasn't worth adding even the tiniest risk into the mix but it gives me the rage that women are considered essentially to be know nothing vessels and liable to comment from all and sundry. I'm ebf at the moment and had a prosecco once I'd fed baby (giving it as long a period as possible for the alcohol to dissipate before the next feed) and got some interesting looks Hmm annoying cos I'd weighed up all the risks and made a choice and it's really no one else's business! If I'd have poured the prosecco into a bottle for the baby fair enough...

Anyway, ta snuggly for the book sale heads up! I've been looking at the Xmas book bundle from a company called once upon a time book bundles, they look to be good value and seem legit. Otherwise we'll probably get DD a cuddly toy, a couple of wooden toys we've seen and then let everyone else fill our house with tat! HmmGrin

need when we first made the raised beds we had peas and they were delicious! Can't wait to grow some again!

meadow I felt exactly the same about my ceremony but hope you really enjoy yourself Flowers

100yearsdotcom · 14/07/2017 16:25

Sorry meant to say the prosecco was at a garden party not just randomly!! Blush

ememem84 · 14/07/2017 16:30

id been warned that some places here are funny about it. But hadn't yet experienced it myself. id actually understand if I'd asked for a wine and they refused. But I was only going to order a lovely french mint syrup lemonade.

Not that I'm a massive drinker usually anyway. And I certainly haven't been downing pints of wine every day. But you know I'm a believer in everything in moderation. Midwife said if I want a wine have one. Not every day. But once a week is fine.

couldnt fault the food though. It was le yum. And they threw in a side order of fries. 🍟😊 it won't put me off going back either.

ememem84 · 14/07/2017 16:31

100 are babies not meant to have prosecco then....????!!!! 😉😉 jokes I know they aren't really

Cagliostro · 14/07/2017 16:38

Babies generally prefer Cab Sauv I believe

needastrongone · 14/07/2017 17:05

Afternoon.

Em I am a bit Shock that someone could be so bloody rude!! I am glad you got a free lunch. I was and am also an 'everything in moderation' person. I had a small stout once or twice a week while bf. Didn't drink while pregnant because the idea/taste/smell weirdly made me feel ill but would have done so had it not.

We are back from Lancaster and DS and I were really impressed. The course and the campus were excellent. The students highly impressive in particular. I think a campus that is outside of town would suit DS really well, it was like a small town just for students! They have a collegiate system too. We have 3 more to see and they are all different again, but I think both of us would be comfortable with this one as first choice. And for context, halls are crica £100 pw, Edinburgh halls are circa £150. I'm learning a shed load about Uni life and finance and courses and HE in this day and age.

Very early start though and 4 hours driving in total, which will be nothing compared to the drive to St Andrews Grin

Girlie Carpet cleaning makes a massive difference, I can never believe it when ours are done.

Creme thanks, I think you might be right. I've actually done really well with the dollars I had left from last year in exchange. You win some you lose some. Smile

Sunny, if you are off camping this weekend, have a great time. Hope your DS enjoys it too.

NSD.

Sounds great, Need. I knew someone who went to Lancaster in the 90s as a mature student, and he loved it there!

How rude, Em. I'm glad you had a free lunch out of it though.

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/07/2017 17:22

I have a weird frugal fail. I bought nice plastic camping plates in B&M homeware and I can't get the stickers off, and they're on the eating surface.

I've tried fairy liquid, scrapping, dishwasher at several different temperatures and now nail varnish remover and finally more scraping. The stuff's like masonary paint.

Anybody got any ideas? They were 79p and we leave tomorrow.

ememem84 · 14/07/2017 17:26

sunny try wd40. Then seriously wash the plates. I use it to get stickers off my shoes.

Stickers on shoe soles wind me up.

CremeEggThief · 14/07/2017 17:32

I'd just eat with the stickers on, Sunny. You know that the plates are very clean and they'll come off in time.

Have fun camping!

needastrongone · 14/07/2017 17:44

I would take the view that if they haven't come off with all that work, then they are not going to come off, apart from with time, like Creme suggests. We have similar with the plates in the horse box, even the dishwasher hasn't shifted them. Smile

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/07/2017 17:49

Gawd, how exciting. Not sure whether I'd rather eat stickers or WD40. I have a first order relative who is properly allergic to WD40 and swells up and turns purple at the slightest hint of the stuff.

needastrongone · 14/07/2017 17:52

You know me, I'm fairly relaxed but would also draw the line at WD40 on anything that I was going to eat from, sorry Em GrinSmile

I vote stickers...

OP posts:
Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/07/2017 17:57

It annoys me when stickers don't come off or worse they come off but leave a sticky residue behind - that really gives me the rage Angry Grin
No actual advice though Sunny would prob just eat off them as well, maybe soak in soapy water over night though?

Agree Need I honestly think the carpets look nicer than when we moved in!!

Em good they gave you a free lunch, men handing out unwanted advice to pregnant women is never a good thing!!

Have worn myself out a bit with all the cleaning but the house and garden look lovely and I think I am about ready for the garden party tomos, really hoping for nice weather. Dd annoyingly has a party in another town in the morning which means quite a bit of faffing about, oh well dd will enjoy it I am sure...

Dd got her school report today and her SATs results, am really pleased the report was very positive the teachers said she is a lovely girl, very bright and full of ideas With her SATs she came where they are expected to be so can't ask more than that, given that she struggles at school and moved school she has done so well Star

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/07/2017 18:03

That's great Girlie, well done!

On plates, tbh I think I will just take normal plates from the house. It's only one night after all. I can't even drink tap water without regretting it, so I'm not sure I'm going to experiment with eating stickers while living in glorious luxury in a field. Useful learning experience anyway. Thanks for the thoughts.

Cagliostro · 14/07/2017 18:11

For future reference there's a product called sticky stuff remover (imaginative name) but not sure it's ok on food stuff so would wash an awful lot after too. But it's great generally for label residue, we used it at work all the time. Annoying when stickers don't come off!

Yay girlieDD fab stuff!
