Snuggly That must be really tricky dealing with three tiny people at once. Is there any chance that you could get some extra help there, even if it was just an hour a day to get you some peace to have a shower?

My new email friend has not replied. I guess he feels a real turnip now, poor fella.

SnugglySnerd · 13/07/2017 09:46

Great picture, Need Grin

I do get a bit of help from family and so on Sunny but not every day. One day home alone with all three is ok. By the second day the novelty of helping wears off for DD and she wants to be entertained! Understandable really she had mummy and daddy all to herself for 3 years before her brother and sister turned up!

I have made a shopping list and it's not too long but we need nappies again and formula so it'll still be £££.

Has anyone been watching the BBC programme about landlords going to stay in their tenants' properties? Just watched last night's whilst feeding babies. The landlords really wind me up. They have so little regard for their tenants. Especially the guy last night who blamed everything on the tenants when he thought they were on benefits but couldn't do enough for them when he found out the man had a job. "He's earned my respect" ffs. So people on benefits for whatever reason should live in a shit-tip then??

Coppersulphate · 13/07/2017 09:54

Love the DDog pic, Need 😀😀😀
Hoping to have a relaxing NSD. Well £1 for cuppa with friends.

CoffeeCrisis · 13/07/2017 10:21

Morning all

So yesterday I bought a Christmas tree! We usually get a real tree, about £40, as ex-H liked them. But now he's gone, I saw a 6 foot artificial one in a charity shop, and snapped it up! Quite a strange purchase to make in July, but in December I'll have a tree, and no more needles to sweep up (he liked them, but never looked after them)

One more tick in the box for 'reasons to be cheerful that my husband has left'

Also £6 yoga last night, which is my big treat now and worth every penny

CoffeeCrisis · 13/07/2017 10:22

oh and forgot to say the tree was £3. Three quid!

ImAFurchester · 13/07/2017 10:43

Hello everyone. May I join? We need to have at least a year of being frugal as DH has been hit with a five figure tax bill. Luckily we have half of it but need to save for the other half.

Is anyone else trying to low carb on a budget? It's so hard. Everything cheap also seems to be carby and I can't buy yellow stickered meat and freeze as we only have a tiny freezer (part of a fridge).

thewaitresses · 13/07/2017 11:07

Welcome Furchester and good luck with the savings! I think low-carb can be fairly frugal - veggie soups, eggs, bulking out mince etc - but if you're also aiming for high-protein it can get quite pricey. Me and DH are constantly at odds because he wants to eat chicken breast and salmon steak as snacks Confused whereas to me they're a luxury dinner ingredient!

Another thing we argue about is the Christmas tree! Can you guess who wants a real one every year?!!

SnugglySnerd · 13/07/2017 11:28

That's a bargain, Coffee. DH was saying last night that it's less than 5 months until Christmas!

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/07/2017 11:57

Fantastic bargain Coffee!

Furchester we have two complicated diets in my house and it's definitely more expensive. We're not on low carb but we're both off wheat, and since wheat is in everything, it really cuts down the options.

CremeEggThief · 13/07/2017 13:34

£1.70 for 2 pints of milk at the local shop! Daylight robbery!Shock

MeadowHay · 13/07/2017 14:34

Snuggly I've been watching that landlord/tenant show too, watched all of them and hated all of them lol. The landlords in this most recent episode were definitely the worst, snobbiest ones of the series though and had no regard at all for the tenants. The classist "jokes" they all kept making was putting me into a rage and so was the fact that guy thought he was all super Christian whilst exploiting people in the way that he was, it was gross. It's one thing to be an awful, greedy, money-driven, selfish person but another thing altogether to simultaneously pose as some devout Christian Angry.

Sorry I have given up catching up, have been so busy recently! It is my graduation ceremony tomorrow! I have anxiety for it that is so bad it's akin to when I had my final exams, how stupid is that? Anxiety disorders are so irrational and stupid. Trying to remain calm and remind myself it's supposed to be fun not torture!! I have relatives coming down tonight for it.

Today spent nearly a tenner in the local Sainsbury's which is absolutely ridiculous when you consider that all I got for that was three boxes of cereal (two of which were their own brand), own-brand plasters and own-brand antihistamenes Shock. Rip-off!

Welcome furchester! I don't know anything about low-carb diets I'm afraid. I probably eat loads of carbs. Is bread a carb? Tbh my knowledge about nutrition is pretty poor given how well-education I am on other topics.

Need I love the dog pic!

WreckTangled · 13/07/2017 16:55

Welcome furchester I think that fluffy often low carbs.

Bit spendy today.

£35 fuel
£27 tesco on lunch, Apple sourz for the hen do, shoes for dd and trousers for ds.

Forgot dd's swimming hat and realised as I was getting her from the childminder. She didn't want to go anyway so we decided to just come home. I need to pack for tomorrow really.

needastrongone · 13/07/2017 17:03

Welcome Furchester. Maybe figure why you are low carb? If for weight loss, is there a cheaper but still as effective way to lose weight?

Anxiety is indeed irrational Meadow, it's a funny old thing isn't it?

Bargain Coffee. I buy all the ponies winter rugs in summer and vice versa. Makes sense.

Run and PT training done, I baked banana and chocolate chip cake and have done a chilli. Had some laser treatment on my dodgy hamstring which felt good.

needastrongone · 13/07/2017 17:05

I run far too much to be low carb, but do up the protein more than I used to do.

Wheelycote · 13/07/2017 17:13

Snugly and Meadow i watched that landlord programme too. That couple haven't done themselves any favours. She was right indignant and him a pompous git.** Didnt realise there are more episodes, will have to watch on catch up

Coffee good find!!!! I'm well jealous...I bought a tree too today but it was from tesco. 55 pound for 7ft and will have to last till I'm old and grey lol

needastrongone · 13/07/2017 18:05

I keep meaning to say that Liz Earle Cleanse and polish is on offer for a short time, from £19 to £10. Good for presents if you don't use this yourself. It's an 'iconic' beauty product. Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/07/2017 18:07

We really should think about Xmas more now.

Cagliostro · 13/07/2017 18:40

Welcome fur!

Bargain Christmas tree. Worth getting a nice artificial one. My parents bought one (7ish feet) when I was a baby. This'll be its 31st Christmas and it's still going strong!

Great today, spendy, didn't eat out as we got stuff from Tesco but there was a new Jurassic museum which was totally worth it.

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/07/2017 19:31

I was just thinking yesterday about how it's five months to Christmas.

I'm so happy with things at the moment as I'm largely solar powered and the sunshine is great at the moment. It's hard to think of it going all dark and wintery again.

I'm building a light meter at the moment from bits, so that in December I will be able to measure how many hours of gardening a day I need to get my sunshine quota. Smile

Wheelycote · 13/07/2017 19:49

Just remembered...

The new house as pre payment lec and Gas meters.....they're getting swapped tomorrow for smart meters. Is it wrong that I'm excited!! Lol

Wheelycote · 13/07/2017 19:50

Sunny your building a light meter??

Cagliostro · 13/07/2017 19:53

That's great wheely prepayment works out so much more expensive apparently. So will be great frugally.

Sunny wow a light meter! How cool! I worry about winter too, I am generally low on vitamin d too. I heard recently that the angle of the sun affects how much you absorb too.

ememem84 · 13/07/2017 20:12

Checking in and catching up.

Spends today £34 (including delivery) on flowers for my "auntie" (she's one of my mums oldest friends and we've always referred to her as auntie)

£6.50 on two sandwiches for dh and I for lunch.

£0.70 peanut m&ms

That's it.

Tomorrow is lunch in the french cafe with a friend.

Catface peed on the couch yesterday (we think. It felt damp but didn't smell too strongly of wee). If it was her (dh says not him and unless I've got some serious issues it absolutely was not me!! Haha!!) I think maybe she's been a bit anxious. Upstairs neighbours are a bit noisier than the old ones - they have a toddler and he runs and jumps about. I think downstairs and next door have had their fibre broadband wired in so maybe that's thrown her a bit and earlier in the week I had to catch her to do her flea stuff. So it's been a challenging one.

Just had a sit down with her and a head scratch and explained that everything's ok that it's ok to be frightened and that she's family. I think maybe she can sense the boy more and more. So needs reassurance from her Mummy. We've almost had her for a whole year now. How time flies!
