Hi all you have all been very chatty today Grin just caught up!!

Busy day with work and dds football club this evening, she was in goal tonight for two games and did really well. She is the only girl still playing now and I am super proud of her for going out there and giving it her all. Last one next week.

Today spends were £8 on various work things (someone is leaving and someone else has just passed something!!)

Sorry to hear that about your running club Need sounds tough.

LonelyOversharer · 11/07/2017 23:17

Been sleeping. Catching up. My tooth feels like normal again, bar the odd taste from the antibiotic paste they packed it with. But I have a bruised cheek and a slightly black eye! Today I picked up my prescription oakleys. I totally love them. £1 parking in town, and £6 on lunch for dp, strawberries for me.

Then 2 performances of dd2's y6 show. It was good, actually better the second time. But wiped the evening out, didn't get back until half 8. £4 on ice creams after.

need I would get your ds some protien bars, and as seacow (I think) said, the tablets you pop into water to replace electrolytes. We have CNP flapjack bars in the shop, honestly it takes hours to eat one they're so filling, great as a boost as he's going along. No drain tins of tuna? Light enough and won't go off in heat. The sachets of Ainsley Harriet cous cous are very tasty, and take 5 mins to make. Flowers by the way, sounds like something awful has happened.

HollyTheHarrier · 11/07/2017 23:31

Need I did gold D of E and quite a few subsequent long distance walks. as sunny's experience suggests, make sure your son likes whatever he takes, that's probably the most important thing! I used to take porridge every time, could never stomach more than a few mouthfuls - complete waste of time. If I was doing it now I'd take hot cross buns and flapjacks. Frankfurters are good, as is chorizo - both will last well and add some flavour. Camping shops used to do a dehydrated chocolate mousse that was the best thing in the entire world 😄 I would definitely look out for that. Sorry to hear about your bad news from the running club

sunny I'd nip to m&s. life's too short.

Well done to your daughter Girlie for the football.

100yearsdotcom · 12/07/2017 00:13

Ah it's intense isn't it seacow? I had a bit of a wobble today as feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Picked myself back up again though - my gorgeous girl keeps me going thankfully.

Sorry to hear there has been an incident at your club need xxx I didn't notice any differencein your tone anyway, you always come across as very strong and practical.

lonely glad your tooth is sorted for now and Gin for the bruising!

Tuesday spends were £32.00 on a capsule organiser system for baby's room on prime deals - unplanned but will be quite frugal as it'll save us from going to ikea for a wardrobe and toyboxes and coming back with a car full of bits we never knew we needed!

Wheelycote · 12/07/2017 05:58

Morning all

I've got to get the curtain poles up in my bedroom. I wake when the sun comes up which tends to be about 5am. To put the pole up I need to do something about the wardrobes that are in the way first. There's a house job list as long as my arm and sorting out the bathroom sink, work and kids priority today. Hoping for a LSD today.

Driving licence sent off :)

Lonely glad your tooth has improved, toothache is the worse. Your poor cheek. Can makeup cover the bruises?

Seacow hope your feeling better soon. Did they give you any drops to soften the wax?

Need sounds like a tough time at your running club at moment. Big hug for you.

Woo hoo, sunny in Devon today. Hitting the beach later. The Dartmouth uniform is Stripey vest/solid colour shorts. We are all wearing it.

ememem84 · 12/07/2017 08:03

Catching up from yesterday. Midwife apt was good. Bloods taken (I am such a Brave soldier!!) and everything looks good. She measured bump and supposedly "the boy" is just a smidge under average. Literally just a smidge. Given my concerns that he's be enormous in happy with average. And I'm still "boring" and low risk. Apparently pregnancy is the one time boring and average are a good thing! Haha!

Went to aqua natal last night. There were 6 of us in the group. One lady was not pregnant. They like to include a social section so we can chat whilst floating about. And she was asked when she was due. She was the first one to be asked. I assume she just thought it was a "normal" aqua aerobics class.

need what about something like beef jerky for ds? And dried fruit? I did the round the island walk a few years ago - 48 miles of coastal paths. Did it in 17 hours. And had dried raisins apricots and a selection of nuts with me for snacking on the go. And haribo. Sneak some haribo in ds' backpack. They were my saviour on the final bit. Along the nice flat 3 or 4 mile stretch along the south coast back to town and the finish line. Oh and dh. He met me at the finish with a Coke and some chips. Legend.

Cagliostro · 12/07/2017 08:45

I tried made up some aquanatal exercises in the pool yesterday. Had to use the indoor one as the rain was dreadful! So not frugal (£2 each but outdoor one is free) but worth it.

That nectar card thing is bizarre, not heard of it before. Is there a lot of nectar fraud then? We only ever seem to get a few points on there anyway. Clubcard on the other hand has shitloads as we spend a small fortune in Tesco.

I guess the advantage with allergies possibly becoming trendy is that there's a lot more provision for it now. DH is coeliac and it's getting much easier to find alternatives. In fact we discovered yesterday that Lyme Regis is brilliant for it - he had a pasty for breakfast in a naice expensive organic cafe and the pizza place we found for lunch did GF bases too. Passed other bakeries etc with GF products. Good stuff!

Spent loads yesterday but some was Tesco getting supplies for cooking in the apartment. DH taking the Caglets to Charmouth while I rest, they might have an ice cream but will be back for lunch. Must get a baguette for lunch in the shop and another tin of tomatoes for spag bol tonight. I may take my book and sit in the bar with a Pepsi while they're gone. :o

LonelyOversharer · 12/07/2017 09:11

Sounds lovely cag ! Do enjoy the peace.

I long for a holiday, a few days would do it! No danger yet for us. Not even the uk, with no money, the shop, the dogs... None of us have in date passports either, so theres a huge chunk before we can even consider going abroad.

Very late up this morning, dd2 (my alarm clock) was in a grump, so didn't get us up! Ds had an ice lolly at 0430 so I guess we fell back to sleep! Feeling flat, so will go for a cycle when I've had another six cup of coffee.

ememem84 · 12/07/2017 10:58

I'm counting down the days until my next day off. I have just over a week and then have a long weekend! Hurrah!! Both Friday and the following Monday off!! Yippee!!

CoffeeCrisis · 12/07/2017 11:13

Hello, just popping in after my fly-by a week or so ago

I've had a pretty good week spend-wise

£41 in Aldi, 59p on hamster bedding, £2.50 on foundation in Primark

Also I keep remembering to bring a lunch in to work

CoffeeCrisis · 12/07/2017 11:24

Oh and thanks for the all the advice. I won't get benefits, because I have some savings and they are phasing out tax credits in my postcode, going over to Universal Credit

And I was brought up by a very frugal mother (she died earlier this year Sad ) so I know how to save money. I often switch my utilities for cheaper ones. Only problem is, if you've been doing all these things already, you don't get the satisfaction of making huge savings the first time!

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2017 11:55

That's good that you have savings Coffee. Sorry to hear about your Mum.

I just got a cheering email about my science article that was finally in print last week. It has a really good photo of a splendid thing in it (can't say what, as would out myself). I got an email from the society for the appreciation of said splendid things, asking if they can use my photo on their poster boards when they go to big exhibitions. I was quite chuffed about that.

I was meant to be on ds's school trip today but I found out yesterday that I wasn't picked so I get to put my feet up for hours and hours today instead.

mammymammyIRL · 12/07/2017 12:54

Not read the thread but it was gone off TIO Confused

Cagliostro · 12/07/2017 13:42

Wow that's fantastic sunny well done on your splendid thing! And yes, Relax Hard today :)

Coffee so sorry about your mum xx

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2017 14:19

Thanks Cag. I've been relaxing with great gusto today. I could do with a second 3 hour long bath but it's nearly pick up time again.

LonelyOversharer · 12/07/2017 14:31

Had an excellent bike ride, 2 hours, 30 miles. Super sunny, could actually see where I was going! What a difference that makes. I feel so much better in myself now. I hate that low mood feeling.

Am risking going to Tescos after school with 3 of my dc (4th at Grandmas), that will be spendy. Will let them pick what they want for tea. It's a pretty safe thing to do, as it will be pizza or supernoodles and some cheesecake probably, but they are always so pleased if I let them pick. Just need milk and some berries otherwise, but I bet I spend about fifty quid.

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2017 14:49

Lonely Do you reckon you could cycle the whole length of the UK? I think that would be an amazing thing to do. Just to see the sights, and have a bit of time to think.

thewaitresses · 12/07/2017 16:38

Lonely the bike ride sounds idyllic and restorative! I love the idea of a choose your own dinner supermarket dash - will save that one for summer holidays!

I think I'm about to have a NSD! In for the day and unless anything crops up it certainly should be.

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/07/2017 17:27

lonely I let DD pick her birthday tea yesterday and she chose a cheese roll and tinned macaroni cheese. It may be a reflection on my cooking! I'm the only one with a passport in our house.

Sadly not fluffy I mainly use south west or cross country. I have the joy of delays on south west for most of August coming up

Left work an hour late due to my 11.30am meeting, starting at 2.45pm. Means I'll be home about 11 hours before going back to work again tomorrow Sad

Hope you are having a good holiday cag and fluffy

Great and nice to hear such positive things about your work sunny

£4.50 spent on lunch and maybe breakfast too Blush

needastrongone · 12/07/2017 17:42

Evening.

Thank you guys for the brilliant suggestions for D of E. Brill to see so many folk have done it, or similar. Some great ideas. Dried fruit, nuts, chorizo (DS loves chorizo), hydration tablets, dehydrated foods. Great, thanks! We are sorting this weekend.

Seacow I feel the pain, the first few weeks with 2, I feel the pain but have no solutions other than to take rest when you can and keep taking one day at a time.

Lonely Exactly why I run, head space. Even on crap runs I feel better than I did run. It's my processing time, my reset the balance time. I'm glad your ride did you good.

Thanks Fluffy, I popped into Superdrug today but Boots have a much better range of Nip and Fab.

I am very glad about the appreciation of your Splendid Thing, from Those In The Know. Smile Keep resting. I should take the same advice sometimes!

I'm sorry about your DM Coffee. I agree, the net gains from switching and being frugal do reduce after a while.

Had a good sort of day.

DS passed his theory test, so can put in for his practical now.

Spends.
£4 parking (for DS theory test).
£80 at a designer outlet, 3 'classic' style T Shirts. Won't date as they are plain or striped, so I am happy to spend a touch more. Pair of Guess jeans for £20, benefits of being a size 6.
£150 Next sale, some will be returned but did get a floor light that I liked at full price for half price, I think the rest will go back.

Definitely not running tonight as legs need a break.

Since my science article came out, I've now got a slightly creepy bloke emailing me about his equipment, by which I mean actual equipment - large things made of steel. No idea that they are. I tried to invite him to a public forum to discuss it, but he says he prefer to mail me direct. Feck. This is not really my strong suit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/07/2017 18:14
