Seacow Congratulations, I hope they let you out soon you must be desperate to get home 🍾

Wreck Do it, they damaged your car and left you stranded.

Welcome Mystic

£41 hair
£5 tip
£8 cat toy
£4 catnip spray
£35 work stuff.
£6 toaster.

I got sacked today because I wouldn't work without knowing if I was going to get paid. Apparently it's the wrong attitude & they will find someone who will. Personally, I think they'll struggle with that.

It won't affect me though. The match betting makes me more than they do.

AdoraBell · 23/06/2017 17:47

Huge Congrats Seacow Grin Thanks

Not much spending this week, £6 in the coffee today though Hmm

I have lots of Lego cards again, if anyone wants them just let me know.

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 18:37

Oh dear fluffy! I don't blame you for checking you're going to get paid!

Garage phoned £680. I phoned my insurers and they said I needed to speak to the underwriters, they were busy and said they would call me back but they didn't so I phoned them again and they said they were about to close and would call back tomorrow. Ffs fucking dicks. What kind of insurance company can't help you after 6pm?? I need a fucking car. I pay £35 a month and they can't even sort me a courtesy car. Argh. Sorry for swearing.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2017 18:41

Email the CEO, even if it doesn't get you a car quicker you might get compo. Dicks indeed.

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 18:54

Will it be the m&s bank CEO I need?

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2017 19:03

Have a google cos sometimes insurance has its own CEO.

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 19:23

Guys. I'm sorry I've been awol, RL is a touch full on with 2 x exams, poorly pony, training 6 days a week, working 4, DH hardly here at the minute. Blah blah, we are all busy. Poor me.GrinGrin

Anyway, I've only skimmed the last few posts but HUGE congratulations to seacow. Wow, she came quickly didn't she? Hope you take some time to recover.

Also, wrecked I can't believe what a crap and nightmare day you have had. How shoddily have you been treated. You poor thing.

Fluffy, you seem fairly sanguine re the job, good for you. I'm looking into The Ordinary stuff at the moment, any thoughts?

Really no frugality here at all, we've ordered swanky fittings for the walk in wardrobe, something we budgeted for but I'm now going to have special drawers for my shoe collection and make up. Yes, totally shallow..... I'm back!!!!

Where is creme? And north? Although I know she's busy with cricket.

Mammy did you do the half marathon?

DD finished her last GCSE today, Physics, which went well she thinks. We've spent the afternoon driving round the area handing out CV's for part time work. The kid never stops, love her work ethic. I think DS reckons the work will find him.....!

In my good news I was 4th lady in a 7 mile stupidly hilly trail race on Wednesday. And won my category so £50. Stupid hot and stupid hilly, I felt dizzy at the end.

I'll keep up now x

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2017 19:36

She certainly has a double dose of work ethic there. The wait for exam results is unbearable, a job will distract her.

Congratulations on the race.

I've never tried the ordinary but it's frugal to buy samples, from them or eBay in case it's crap.

Led red light therapy is the shit though. If you spent £300 on a red light therapy mask I reckon you'd be well in credit long term.

Loveabaconsandwich · 23/06/2017 19:39

Yesterday's spends
£95 Debenhams on various sales stuff for me and two dresses for DC. Had £50 vouchers from my birthday. A couple of the items got charged full price though so will be owed £8 back. I may return a dress too, I like it but have no occasion to wear it.
£12 in white stuff
£11 primark
£4.50 costa but used the last of a gift voucher

Today
£60 Tesco. Did a very unfrugal shop as was feeling delicate after a fraught school run with DD2 who was overtired. So lots of cake etc bought and two packs of nappies

wreck you have had a truly rubbish day WineCake . Did you take photos of the damage and the offending rock?

Great news meadow about the various bits of money you have been given

fluffy Grin . I think nowadays companies realise that people are so desperate for work that they don't have to be good/ reasonable employers.

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 19:41

Thanks

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 19:44

Stupid thing posted too soon.

Thanks need and well done on your race. Your dd has a bright future ahead of her. Even though dh's boss never pays him on time he did come to my rescue and pay for two new tyres for us.

Bacon I didn't. It was on a windy bit of national speed limit road. It had gone when I came home though and I know one lady who hit it was going to tell the police so they could move it so they should have a record.

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 20:25

Fair play to your DH's boss wrecked.

What's the red light thing fluffy?

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/06/2017 20:26

Nsd today.
Shopping tomorrow. Cba meal planning lost inspiration. Will have a test and start again tomorrow.
Sorry you had a shit day wreck. Definitely join forces with the others and claim

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 20:38

Can never be arsed Friday life. Chucked chicken in the oven smothered in pesto and mozzarella with a few roast new potatoes and asparagus. Eating out tomorrow otherwise it would have been take out.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2017 20:38

Red light therapy was discovered by nasa using it to grow plants in space, the astronauts tried it for wounds as they heal slowly in space and it speeded up wound healing by stimulating collagen.

I've got the neutrogena mask, £60 but it needs an activator which is £15 a month but there was a hack on YouTube so I soldered a bit of wire on and now it works forever. But, it's blue and red at the same time. Blue is for acne.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/06/2017 20:59

Fluffy you seem remarkable chilled about being sacked.
Welcome back need.

Dd has just announced she wants to see little mix as all her friends are. Fgs. £90 per ticket in Newcastle.

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 21:06

Did you miss me Life?GrinGrin

I know, they don't make it cheap do they?

I'm trying to figure the acid thing, the red light seems fab. I think that's why the DC love the sciences so much, it all stems from there, physics, maths and science sent those folk to space. Amazing. How's the betting going?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/06/2017 21:16

Congratulations Seacow awesome news!! Welcome to the world of little girls Smile oh and can you send dh out to find you pizza?!

Need You do sound busy, thats not like you all all Wink bet your dd is glad to get the exams out of the way, from what i have read it seems this years were pretty tough.

Wreck that sounds really stressful Gin

Had a busy day at work, lots going on and then when i went to pick dd up from the childminder we picked up a dog that was wondering about with no owner!! Tried finding an owner but ended up taking her home and posting on fb, located the owner and then had returned the dog. What did we do in the days before fb?? Grin

Spent £24 on petrol.

Dd has a party tomorrow evening and I can't decide what to do about a gift, the party is a shared party for two boys in her year (so 11yo) but its only one of the boys actual bday, its says the other boy is turning 11 1/2 Hmm so do I get them both a card? And wtf do I do about gifts? Would it be tight to put a fiver in two cards and be done with it? Tbf I can't even really afford that!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2017 21:25

Quite well need, it's something your ds could do through uni for cash. It's very dull so there's no risk of becoming addicted. I honestly think red light is the way. In the us they have sunbed like beds but red light led instead. My hairdresser was gobsmacked I'm 40 next week, he thought I was 30.

life It's a place I dreaded going to because you never knew if you'd get much money. Other places you do the work & they pay you. As it should be. I'm not sure anyone else will want to work on a might get paid, might not basis. They owed me hundreds last year and were very dismissive of me.

But you get that in healthcare. There's an attitude you ought to do it for free, or that you shouldn't go private. I honestly don't know what they expect you to do for food, mortgage etc Confused. I always keep in mind that the people wanting me to work and possibly not get paid are paid on time. Can you imagine if they went in and their boss said "we might not pay you for one third of the day for several months". They'd walk out.

I can't be doing stroppy people anymore. I'm 40 soon, I'm too old for this shit.

I can make steady income on the sofa in my dressing gown matched betting. Boring, but I'm not getting attitude for not wanting to work for free I don't think that's how you pay a mortgage

I wouldn't want to pay £90 to see little mix either though. Talk about being punished for a crime you haven't committed.

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 21:31

Much prefer to be busy girlie, I honestly do. Life is short. My dads suddenly got old in the last few months and worries about the last little thing ( he's 86!!!) but he's still booked himself a cruise in December and will deal with the stressful aspects nearer to the time ( he gets pretty anxious now). He's inspired me a bit to crack on!

I would stick a fiver in each card if you can, or if not, a fiver in the card of the kid that invited your DD.

allthebestplease · 23/06/2017 21:34

girle don't put money in the card whether you can afford it or not.

Watching Elbow at Glastonbury 😀

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 21:39

30 from 40 y/old is some difference. I'm off to investigate. You know what? That might be a good idea for DS. It's difficult to describe him, but his whole thought process is mathematical, logical and non emotional. Matched betting would suit.

We get this at work always, call us out for an emergency breakdown, whole site is down. Please come out immediately and help. You might get paid in 6 months.....

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2017 21:51

Laid a bet for 17:00 tm, £10.07 profit from a £10 free bet.

MeadowHay · 23/06/2017 22:00

Wreck Sorry you've had such a horrid day Sad I hope tomorrow is better! Brew Wine

Sunny Glad the dentist went well!

Girlie If you can afford it I would just give a fiver to the birthday boy. I mean if it's not the other kid's birthday then I can't see why they would get a card or anything Confused.

Need Your DD is a right trooper! It is so hard to find part-time work when you're young now though. I looked in sooo many places for PT work alongside my AS-Levels when I was 17 and never even got an interview, it was soul-destroying, and the same thing happened when I was like 20 at uni, and likewise for DH in his second year of uni, except he got an interview at Topshop - they had to go in groups and design an outfit for a date. It was women's wear. I'm not surprised he didn't get the job Grin.

Today has been super spendy for me but GOOD!
£35 on mobile hairdresser, my first time getting my hair cut at home and OMG why have I not done this before?? I hadn't had my hair cut in a year and that was my mate trimming it for me at home. The lady was nice and it was soo much less stressful for me having it done at home. I am never getting my hair cut in a salon ever again!!
Then £70 on a secondhand bike! Shock Then DH took me to the park and I learned how to ride said bike Shock !!!
Well...sorta. I can go straight, start myself now, and I can sometimes turn. Lots of screaming and braking when I got frightened and nearly fell over a few times Blush but still!!
AND DH and I baked a chocolate cake in the microwave and it is yummy.
Today has been a good day!

needastrongone · 23/06/2017 22:08

Well done meadow on the cycling! I know exactly what you mean about the jobs, but I'm going to let DD learn that herself, it's life isn't it? One feed shop definitely has work in September, it sells tack, horse feed, chicken feed and dog food. We have ponies, dogs and chickens so suits exactly. The manager told DD if she could wait until September he would call, as his current worker is going to Uni. But she does think getting work is easy, it's really not going to be. Life doesn't work like that sadly.
