allthebestplease · 23/06/2017 07:52

Great news sea 🌺💐🌸🌈

meadow you can buy gowns from Amazon I got one for about £30

LonelyOversharer · 23/06/2017 07:55

CONGRATULATIONS seacow very well done!! And all done without the drip, and I suspect without much more than gas and air too. A very quick delivery is hard to process, take it easy, you'll be very battered Flowers

Size! How big is dd?

You'll feel loads better at home with your family, sending you lots of love xx

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 07:57

Ah yay seacow!! That was a very quick birth I'm not surprised you were in shock! FlowersFlowers

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 08:14

I just hit a pot hole and got a flat tyre 😭😭😭 I've got a hospital appointment in an hour and I'm not sure I'm going to make it

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/06/2017 08:15

I had a quick birth with shock and such like. The midwife came and saw me next day and had a mini debrief/ chat which helped enormously. Shock is a natural reaction, try not to frett.

ChristmasSeacow · 23/06/2017 08:21

Yep, just gas and air. TBH it was incredibly painful but there wasn't time for anything else anyway! I felt surprisingly okay afterwards, once the shock had subsided. Stitches etc fine, all feels good actually. I was up and about no problem. The most pain is in my nipples from trying to breastfeed all night Hmm. DD seems up for it but I've only had 20 mins sleep as she is rather enthusiastic about it, it seems.

I am keeping my fingers crossed we get discharged this morning, i am dying to get home!

ChristmasSeacow · 23/06/2017 08:28

Ooh what a bugger Wrecked

Life I think if I was planning on having any more children I would defo need help processing it, as I would be quite afraid about next time being too fast... but I am all done now so my overwhelming feeling is relief that I won't be doing it again! Smile

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 08:39

Make that two flat tyres...

Cagliostro · 23/06/2017 08:42

Fingers crossed for you that you can get home! Those first breastfeeds are OUCH but it'll get easier soon.

I am nervous about DS meeting Cagletini too. I hope that goes well for you guys. :)

Obviously no need to tell us but have you named her yet? xx

mammymammyIRL · 23/06/2017 09:28

Oh wreck you poor thing, no hope of changing it yourself now with two flat tyres. Could you abandon car and get taxi to hospital and sort out car when you're finished?

ChristmasSeacow · 23/06/2017 09:37

First name but not middle name. First name was our top choice for DS if he had been a girl, 5 years on we still love it. My favourite other name doesn't really scan well with it as a middle name but I can't let it go... hence stalemate!

DD is sleeping soundly now that it is daytime. Grrr.

mammymammyIRL · 23/06/2017 09:52

Seacow we did the exact same name picked out for boy when dd was born was name we used for ds Grin

Course she's sleeping she's stuffed!!

Loveabaconsandwich · 23/06/2017 10:24

Congratulations seacow ! FlowersWineStar

Will be back later DD2 is being delightful nightmare today

MeadowHay · 23/06/2017 10:34

Awww congrats Seacow!! Welcome to the world Seacalf no2!!

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 11:00

Need a new wheel. It's going to cost me hundreds and I'm currently walking to work twenty miles from home with no car I'm going to have to tell tesco I can't pick up the shopping and try to get someone else to get the children from school.

SnugglySnerd · 23/06/2017 11:03

Congratulations Seacow lovely news. Can't believe how quickly you delivered.
Enjoy going home to your own bed/loo/food etc.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/06/2017 11:44

Congratulations Seacow. I also had a canonball birth with 0 to 100% dilation in about 30 seconds, so I know what you mean. It does get it over with nicely, but hurts like nothing on earth. I found the birth afterthoughts service very helpful a few months later, to process the shock of it.

I've had a good day today. I saw the dentist and got a filling without even needing an anaesthetic. The dentist then had a really helpful chat with me about how to deal with ds's tooth. He says the rubbish people we've seen at the NHS hospital are just first line people and we need to be escalated to the pediatric dentist or specialist people. I didn't know that before. It gives me some encouragement that they might be able to help.

I also bumped into a neighbour and instead of having the usual non-conversation we had a proper chat about all of life's difficulties and it was good to be honest about it all. It's funny when I take the frugaleer style of chat to RL and find that it's much better for everybody.

SnugglySnerd · 23/06/2017 12:45

Well done on the dentist, Sunny.

Have been to post office this morning to return a lot of online purchases so that will be good for my credit card balance. Also did much better with the shopping this week. £67. I'm making a big effort now as we want to be able to move house in 12 months or so. The one thing I would still really like to buy is some decent jeans but finding any to fit is like the Holy Grail! Other than that I don't need or want anything in particular so I'm going to try and save as much as possible. Won't be much on maternity pay though!

MissMysticFalls · 23/06/2017 13:24

Hello Frugaleers - I've been off the boards for over a year but am back on the wagon because we have a huge saving target for the next two years in order to turn out bungalow/cottage into a two storey. We had a generous family loan on offer but building costs have increased massively (we're South East which doesn't help!) due to impact of weak pound and Brexit etc.

Glad to see so many people still being frugal and lovely to each other.

So, putting building on hold and saving furiously, trying to earn more etc. Here's what I've done today:

  • coffee at friend's house (I brought homemade cakes) rather than meet at cafe - discussed moneysaving tips which was good.
  • started application to switch business bank account to one that is fee-free and pays £25 a year loyalty = saving of £90 a year.
  • sorted out my defunct nectar card which now means I have £50 I can spend on school uniform at Sainsbury's
  • listed meals my family will actually eat so I can meal plan and batch cook.
  • re-read the 2012 lists of frugal tips to get me back in the swing.

Any recommendations on what to freeze batch cook stuff in? All our old takeaway boxes are used up (and break after a while). Don't want to buy cheap and pay twice, so advice would be great thanks.

SnugglySnerd · 23/06/2017 14:20

Welcome Mystic. What about ziploc bags for freezing stuff?

MissMysticFalls · 23/06/2017 14:35

Thanks snuggly I'll get some in. Anyone else find this happens? Just read through the latest moneysavingexpert email and saw a great discount on 2 for 1 glasses as a way to get prescription sunglasses....but after going through the faff of getting them into a basket, I realised that I could just buy a large pair of sunglasses really cheaply and wear them over the top of my usual specs when I'm driving or reading in the garden.

A discount's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway eh?

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 15:14

I think I rock I hit came from a wall that is maintained by an estate owned by a Lord. I'm going to try and claim against their public liability. Two other people at the tyre place had hit the same rock, one was a discovery and it completely blew her tyre.

WreckTangled · 23/06/2017 15:14

Mystic I always say 'it's only a bargain if you actually need it or were going to buy it anyway'
