Em I've already cancelled my hotel meal tonight, sod carrying on I just want to live. If your nail tech uses CND products she might have some nail fresh to fix that smudge. They're pushing vinylux for toes at the moment because gels are such a pain to soak off toes.

Copper Oh you must feel awful but it will soon be over & he'll be so much better.

Lonely So really you saved his life didn't you? Star. I'd milk that for all its worth.

Teabag, have a look on moneysupermarket for current accounts with a switch incentive. Halifax in particular pay out really fast & as soon as you have the cash you change again.

Meadow Bereavement always affects you in ways you don't expect. It's the finality of it all. Your grandma must feel quite lost now. I find cities on a Saturday too much & I'm NT as far as I know anyway

Yesterday was £2.50 frozen avocados, £21 indoor to aerial. £8 refund from Tesco. Scuffed my only pair of nice everyday shoes really badly falling into the house so now I need new ballet flats. V cross with myself.

Laska5772 · 04/06/2017 07:48

Dreadful news.. more utter idiots .
em its not irrational but you know we cant let them prevail. My Dh is due to be travelling back tgrough London later as he does every Sunday on his way back for work .

Iris65 · 04/06/2017 07:52

£50.00 on new lawnmower but it is an easy to maintain, push mower. Very simple, modern design with high scores against other mowers. We only have a tiny lawn at our new house so it should be fine.
Switched broadband and saved £25pcm and switched energy and saved £10pcm.
Realised that I could switch my medical care to our local hospital and save hundreds of pounds as I currently travel to London twice a year and often have to go four times a year. Its a specialist clinic, but they opened a clinic locally two years ago. Really hard to decide as I know the staff in London, they diagnosed me and have been great for the last 15 years.

Laska5772 · 04/06/2017 07:54

fluffy you can Freeze avocados? What are they like when they are defrosted? Only good for smoothies or can you eat then in other ways? Like guacamole? This could be a really good thing as i am always throwing the odd one away because of leaving it too long

Roystonv · 04/06/2017 08:01

De lurking - Cag are you sure about your meter. An E7 type meter has a day and a night rate you pay less at night (ours clicks on at about 1 am and clicks off about 8 am) and more during the day than a standard meter as storage heaters 'charge' during the night. As we no longer use ours I looked into changing tariffs and it could be done but when I worked it out over the phone with them using a year's readings it really did not save much. However if you do have an old meter do check that and ask why it hasn't been changed as all companies have a duty to maintain the meters. Hope this helps.

fluffy it's just normal polish on my toes. I'm in on weds to get nails done so will ask for toe to be patched up at the same time.

I've just spoken to dh about his trip. He's still going it's a huge client meeting. Things have been booked for ages. I'm usually one of those "yep just carry on" people. But this morning, nope. Must be hormonal. Ha!

I'm sad for london. To me it's the best city - it's gritty and real and stunningly beautiful. Every time I go I stumble across places I didn't know existed. Or see things I did for the first time. I love London. More than I love Paris (I've spent a lot of time in Paris in the past but it doesn't beat London - it's a different feel) or New York (ditto). London gives me all the feels.

ememem84 · 04/06/2017 08:04

laksa I think Tesco sell frozen avos 🥑🥑 I'm sure dh has bought them before.

But if you freeze "normal" ones they are only good in my opinion for guacamole or smoothies or baking (I've a recipe for cake which uses avos instead of butter...healthy vegan fake cake).

Em I know what you mean. It's the race for life soon here, which is the only crowded event I ever go to. This time last year there had just been a big terrorist attack in France and now a rash of them here.

It's not what I want right before going to a big outdoor thing really. I went last year though, and I will again. I read the M15 docs online and know what's expected of me and ds.

Have you watched Billy Connolly's take on this? I find it very helpful.

SunnyLikeThursday · 04/06/2017 08:45

I'm Glasgowegian like Billy Connolly btw, for context.

ememem84 · 04/06/2017 08:57

I love billy connolly.

Today should be nsd. We're out for breakfast in a bit to a place that just does proper breakfasts. But they also have the most magnificent pastry buffet and always have a carved watermelon. 😉😀 this is dms treat. Yay!

I ate aubergine last night. In moussaka. It ha made my tummy hurt. Stupid aubergine. I forgot it did that until I was halfway through. 😭😩

Will spend the rest of the day pottering about here. Need to have a sort through the baby stuff we have already (gifts. All gifts) and then have a think about the stuff we need to buy.

ChristmasSeacow · 04/06/2017 12:27

Lonely that must have been scary, good for you for forcing the issue.

Copper I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. DGS is in the best hands. Flowers

I am in triage at the moment being monitored because baby hasn't really been moving today. This is very unusual so I rang up and they told me to come in for a CTG. I am hooked up for a bit. I am sure it'll be fine, just better to be safe than sorry. Heartbeat is fine anyway.

I have been doing too much internet shopping, mostly needed but a bit naughty. I got a buggy lambskin and parasol to keep baby cool (have never had a summer baby and been warned off muslins draped over etc as too hot). Also a microwave steriliser as ours warped in the heat of the loft and won't close! And bottles as the ones from DS had gone cloudy and powdery in the loft Confused. And cot sheets as the old ones had random stains on.

The naughty bit was a second hand Boden dress with puffins on (I love puffins!) and finally a nice jewellery box for myself. This was a bit spendy but is what I asked DH for for the last birthday /Christmas so he told me he owed me and to get it. I am looking forward to clearing up all the random boxes on my dressing table soon.

SunnyLikeThursday · 04/06/2017 12:32

It must be handy to have worked in the NHS Christmas when you go into be treated yourself. It was all a bit of a mystery to me. I had that monitoring too.

needastrongone · 04/06/2017 12:32

I'm just checking in. Away at a comp and have a busy week approaching so won't be posting much. Hope all okay. Smile

Loveabaconsandwich · 04/06/2017 14:12

Hope you and baby are ok seacow

Flowers copper

So sad about yet another attack. The world can be such a bad place Sad

Was going to be a NSD. Wanted some hay fever spray as was really suffering, but it appeared to make my nose run more Hmm . Was only meant to be buying that, apples and garlic bread but got some sale chikdren clothes. So £22.

Had very nice left over M&s salad (another purchase from DB- he likes the finer things) for lunch. Leftovers for tea too.

Coppersulphate · 04/06/2017 14:30

Thanks for all the good wishes. DGS is aged 4. Gone in for premed today then op at 7am tomorrow. 8 hours in surgery.
Thought he might get bumped because they might need the bed/ theatre for victims of the terror, but it's going ahead.
Can't believe another terror attack. Bastards.
Seacow, I hope you and DD are ok. Good luck.

ememem84 · 04/06/2017 14:36

seacow hope everything is ok x

Spends £6.50 on the most beautiful french baby boy clothes at car boot - couple of cardigans, some onesies and some sailor dungarees. So cute.

£2 on two huge punnets of strawberries.

WreckTangled · 04/06/2017 14:44

Ah seacow how it's not too boring and hot for you. At least her heartbeat is good

I had a burger for lunch. A big fat one which was still pink in the middle. Yum. That's probably all I'll eat today.

£4.50 dh's travel insurance
£16.85 for mine.

Laska5772 · 04/06/2017 14:48

small Rant. (i know its not AIBU..but maybe I am being so ) friend asks if id like to go to concert with her this evening. and a meal before.. all arranged .
Now friend just calls she has had a couple of large Gin and has eaten the contents of her fridge. so doesnt want food and she will see me 'there' ( I am only going because she wanted someone to go with dont know the person we are going to see ) . its a 15 mile journey in , she has the tickets , Im meeting here 'somewhere' about now have to to hang around the square until she gets there ' .. Am slightly pissed off . (she has form for this ) but IABU (or just cumudgeonly ) arent I? .. I cant have a drink as have to drive, she on bus..[grr] and I have to hang about still looking like a car crash victim

Loveabaconsandwich · 04/06/2017 14:57

Why don't you cancel laska? Does not sound fun, and your face is giving you soooo much pain. If she has form, I'd have no guilt!

WeldMeDaphne · 04/06/2017 15:20

Hope I can join you frugaleers. DH and I have drawn up a budget for everything. I was wondering if anyone had used Dawn's bargain meats? It's a butcher based up north but it does national delivery for a little extra...

Cagliostro · 04/06/2017 15:22

YANBU she's been rude changing the plans like that. Grr.

Currently stuck at mum's! Supposed to be going home today but not actually sure I can handle the journey. I keep falling asleep and haven't even managed to have a shower yet, or get dressed or finish packing. I can't envisage getting two buses, a train and a tram home with suitcases, bags and two kids.

ChristmasSeacow · 04/06/2017 15:25

I'd be a bit fed up Laska but then I don't actually mind eating on my own, it's a nice chance to think! Bit off though when you are only going to keep her company, it's not 'your' concert. She should be buying you dinner!

Got discharged from triage because the baby moved a bit while there. She's still not moving as much as she normally does though, ime. The midwife said that the doctor was okay with the trace but that if I don't feel her movements get back to normal over the next day or so to come back in. She said as soon as someone at term (37 weeks+) reports reduced movements they induce. I am 36+6 today so if it was a day later they'd be inducing me Shock

This has scared DH a bit as we don't feel quite 'ready' - I'd like another week to finish work, go to an important meeting with DS's new school and vote and get my roots done at my hair appointment next weekend, I am shallow . After that I'm ready but ideally not quite yet!

Copper they'd only stand down paed specialist surgery if there was a significant number of child casualties but because it was a late night attack (and small numbers of casualties in hospital terms, unlike Manchester) then paediatric services will still be on. I am sure it will be a long hard day for you all but focus on the lovely things you can all do together when he has recovered. It would be completely fair enough for him to be spoiled rotten for a while!

Cagliostro · 04/06/2017 15:27

Glad baby got moving seacow

Best of luck copper will be thinking of your DGS tomorrow

ChristmasSeacow · 04/06/2017 15:27

Cag can you taxi some of it instead of buses, say? If not can you extend your stay, or can DH meet you half way to help?

MrsMozart · 04/06/2017 15:37

Hello :)

I have to admit to not doing too well, indeed to doing rather badly...

A new sofa, two puppies, and other stuff that I am refusing to think about right now. Ho hum.

Hopefully from now on(!), life should be a tad less on the expensive side.
