Hi everyone Smile

Is it ok if I join in please?

I have had a few expensive months - lots of outgoings so I need to get a grip on my spending.

Laska5772 · 01/06/2017 10:38

North that sounds horrible your poor DH!
I have phoned boss and told him that i wont be in until Monday (he didnt seem too sympathetic though, perhaps I made too much of a joke of it yesterday to him ) ..

Am feeling a bit sorry for myself and really cannot cope with office (not helped by I know ill get lots of ribbing and there is one particular utter arse bloke who hates me and doesnt talk to me who will be pleased that I have injured myself and i really cant cope with contempt as well as ribbing when i an feeling fragile) .

Its all made worse in that i have just looked out of the window and seen that I have scaped car. quite badly.. and I dont know when that happenned.. it must have been me as definately was ok the other day . I did go out to post box yesterday to post DS birthday card. I feel such a prat.. so that will be £££ trip to Honda garage .. Dh wont be cross because he is not like that . but I am.. very cross. Just a another thing I suppose .

(Dh has just rang while ive been typing this to ask if he should come home.. He is lovely .. ive said no though, an just feeling sorry for myself )

Laska5772 · 01/06/2017 10:47

Fizzy Hi welcome.. lots of good help here ! we are a supportive bunch and all keen to make the most of out ££s. (as well as talkng about other stuff). please dont be put off by my post just above I had an accident and feeling a bit down today

First off (if you havent yet done so) make a list of all income and out goings and start keeping all receipts and noting down every penny spent. its hard at first but really works inthe end .
I recommend you either do a spreadsheet or get YNAB - which i recommend to everyone! its really helped me..

Lots of good people to help here , we all know how hard it can be .

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/06/2017 10:58

Hi fizzy

Laska you are allowed a bit of self pity - thats quite a knock you had there. cars mend but i know how annoying it is.
I need a top up shop and thought i would get sainsburys delivered. Just fresh stuff and pic nic stuff £52!!!! It comes from a different store and half the stuff i get is not listed in that store so will go later tonight to Aldi as it is open until 10 and i don't mind adli fresh stuff if its going to be eaten straight away.

Checked my bank and feeling richer than i though but them realised new boiler dd hasn't gone out - left plumber to investigate.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/06/2017 11:16

need your parcel arrived, thank you

FizzyOrange · 01/06/2017 11:17

Laska thank you for the great advice Smile Sorry about your accident and also about your car - I have scraped mine in the past and it is so annoying, so easily done but such a pain to put right.

ememem84 · 01/06/2017 11:53

laksa have you taken any arnica for the bruising it'll help it heal. Failing that eat pineapple. Same healing properties. 🍍🍍

SunnyLikeThursday · 01/06/2017 12:14

We've just been geocaching again. It gets us a good long outing and is free, which is great. We've done five hunts and only found 1 treasure box so far, which is a shame. I think a lot are hidden in undergrowth and looking for them in summer when the brambles and nettles are huge is very tricky.

Laska5772 · 01/06/2017 12:37

Had a bit of a blub Blush and a few messages/texts with lovely friends and am now feeling better ..

Just orderd the blue and white dress.! Rang my local shop and they say they havent g t it in ..

Ah! retail therapy!! am resisting orange shoes so far

Laska5772 · 01/06/2017 12:39

Em that interesting about pineapple.. no Arnica.. (and only tinned pineapple!!) I could perhaps venture out..

SunnyLikeThursday · 01/06/2017 12:52

Em Can you lower the asking price on your flat or would you not then be able to buy a house that would make the move worth your while?

Laska I loved the idea of you zooming along on your scooter. I hope you keep zooming once your bruises heal. Your colleagues sound daft. I hope their bad attitudes just bounce off.

WreckTangled · 01/06/2017 13:06

Life thank you for the Lego cards Smile

I decided to park in the multi storey in the end. £3.10 but I can claim it back.

Welcome fizzy.

Now for some lunch am starving as haven't eaten all day and did exercise this morning. Am determined to get rid of this belly fat. (Not eating wasn't on purpose, I usually don't have breakfast but have something mid morning and didn't have time today!).

ememem84 · 01/06/2017 13:19

laksa tinned pineapple works too!! It's why fruit ripens quickly if it's near pineapple. There's some enzyme in it which give is magic healing properties.

sunny the agent lowered the price without consulting us. Only by £3k... I've had an argument with our agent this morning who implied that I don't know what I want because I'm a hormonal woman. So I emailed the MD who has called apologised offered us a 0.25% reduction in commission. I pointed out in my email that we're disappointed in the service we've received and suddenly have three more viewings.

SunnyLikeThursday · 01/06/2017 13:37

Oooooo! Gosh Em that's a sacking offence I'd say.

Coppersulphate · 01/06/2017 14:24

Em, honestly in this day and age you would think people would be better trained. I hope he's been given a bollocking.

North, hope your DH is ok
Laska, poor you. You are entitled to feel sorry for yourself.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/06/2017 14:55

Welcome wreck.i will most likely have some more soon so will pass them on.

Em I would be furious with that total arse of an agent.

£10 skatepark but £10.99 refund at Lakeland on way here.

WreckTangled · 01/06/2017 14:59

I have a confession.

We have no money right now but I spent £55 on a pair of shoes. I have serious issues getting shoes that fit due to medical problems (foot drop among other things) so live in trainers and boots but my feet get too painful in the heat I needed something else. I bought these and although they're not pretty or particularly fashionable I can wear them!

ememem84 · 01/06/2017 15:14

I was raging. Plus it's hot here today. So heat + rage + preggo = hulk smash! Haha!!

Anyhoo. Seems to have started to resolve itself.

And I'm treating dh to Thai food on the beach for dinner. Yippee!!

Course they can banana. The more the merrier.

Ah wreck, sometimes it's so hard when there is something you need. Don't feel bad about helping yourself focus that guilt onto rejigging the budget or trying to find the money by other legal means

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/06/2017 16:51

Welcome Fizzy & Banana, newbies are always welcome. Have you identified excess spends? Coffees out or DD going out for services you dont use anymore?. Are you both signed up to topcashback & quidco?.

£5.75 weekly cava
£1 lawn stuff
£2.60 bread and body spray.

Got 250 bonus nectar points. Forgot the bastard lettuce.

Coppersulphate · 01/06/2017 17:37

Welcome Fizzy and Banana, everybody is welcome here. Nobody is judgemental, just supportive and chatty.
Wreck, those shoes are a necessity. Absolutely no guilt allowed. Like others say, just use the energy to regig the finances.
To hot here but bet Girlie is loving it on holiday. Just been out to see to my bees and it is hot in a bee suit.
NSD at last.
Wreck, I have no money and I have ordered a really expensive greenhouse, the brickwork associated with it and a made to measure shower screen. Worry and panic have not set in yet.
Oh well, does it matter. As long as DGS is ok next week.

LonelyOversharer · 01/06/2017 18:08

I wrote a post this morning, but guess I didn't post it.

em what a twat your estate agent sounds. Glad you contacted the md. The twat guy is probably the managers uncles best friends son or some such crap.

laska good on you for having a few days off. Soreness and bruising do take a few days to emerge. Take it easy drink wine

wreck lovely Birkys. I love them, and they fit well on my spade shape feet. Am being stalked by Moda La Pelle cookies, lots of nice sandals I'm trying to ignore!

Left the dc at the shop tee hee and did Aldi £46 and Asda £57. Thats a 10 day meal plan, plus 2 pairs of school trews for dd3 and 3 pairs for ds, who's finally in age 4-5 (my dinky boy).

Decided to knit myself a summer top with a crossover back (tulip?) and found some lovely linen yarn in my stash, plus a half knitted summer cardi that buttons down the back (from last year? possibly older), so I'll finish that first, it will only need buttons bought.

I need some summer vests, should I go to primark for them? I usually buy staple stuff from gap, but it's a bit of a trek up to the outlet and I'll buy jeans I don't need if I go there

Hi fizzy and banana always welcome here, if you've lurked on the thread, you'll losely know who we all are!

ChristmasSeacow · 01/06/2017 18:45

Welcome new people!

Laska I don't blame you for feeling a bit delicate. Hopefully your boss will understand. We also have a scraped Honda - I did it when the sparkly new car was only 2 months old (had to reverse down a dark overgrown single lane track in Cornwall into an overgrown invisible bollard Angry ). I was very upset but not enough, it seems, to get off my bum and get it fixed 2 years later

Em I didn't write a birth plan last time and I'm not going to bother this time either. I figured I'd stay as far down the drug/intervention ladder as I could but no idea what I'd need or be able to tolerate, so played it by ear! Same goes this time.

Flat selling is a massive palaver, hope you get a result soon.

Wreck in this instance shoes are a necessity so no point feeling guilty. I did the exact same last week, in spite of the overdraft, because I simply couldn't get my feet into anything!

Feet still swollen. My hands are getting worse at night too - they go numb but the last two nights my middle fingers on each hand have also gone weird... when I curl and uncurl my fingers to get some feeling back in them they curl okay but they don't uncurl normally - the middle fingers seem to get left behind the other fingers and then suddenly snap into place. Like they are not connected properly. It's quite a sickening feeling, I am going to try to get to the gp tomorrow! They might not be very bothered about the oedema if my blood pressure is still low but I'd feel better getting checked out.

Money-wise, finances are a bit better because I was paid for one of my week's work last week, which put me back in the black. I usually pay my credit card off in full every month but havent these past 2 months because of cash flow. Remaining wages due should sort that but then I'll probably have to dip back into cards /overdraft to live on until my company money comes through (from the liquidation). I am going to send an enquiry about that tonight AGAIN - it's been 18 months now since I put the company into liquidation and I was told months ago that the formalities were pretty much sorted so I really should have had a big payment. I'll need to hold a fair chunk back for tax but that's then what I will live on for the next year.

Had a friend round for lunch today, which was lovely. I bought quiche and salad but made scones. So not too unfrugal. Normally I like making quiche but can't be doing with standing up much now.

Other spends today £50 for SLT session for DS. And I might have to order him some more crocs as the cleaner left his new ones outside the back door and they have warped in the sun Hmm. He needs sandals too.

Quite glad I am too pregnant and fat to be interested in buying clothes for myself, with all this dress talk! it's saving me a fortune!

Hoping next week will be my last working on this project. I'll be 37 weeks by then so time to stop with the commuting I think. DS is still not sleeping well so I could really do with taking it easy for a couple of weeks before D-day.
