Went to tescos for lunch today and spent loads. Jammies for me and dd, tea tonight, stir fry meal deal and a load of other questionable crap I probably didn't need. Ugh. I will not slip back into this again.

creme totally shit. I know it's work, but its better to be away from people like that.

em magic moment. Did it all just get a bit real for your dh?

meadow yay/so sorry. Bit of a double edged sword for you there, and you have to deal with a long journey too. But fab about your exams being over.

Got home and then yad to go back out in the big car, which had been sat in the sun all day, to rescue dp; who broke his wheel coming home. Turns out he might be a bit heavy for thin racy carbon wheels. My mamil is a chunky mamil!

Quilt is done, just his name to embroider on it, dress is done, cardi is done, it's blocked onto a cycle event sign drying in the garden!

And dp cut 3" off my hair today, it feels sooo short! But I know it's not.

That quilt is amazing! Really lovely.

Sorry for your loss, Meadow.

SnugglySnerd · 26/05/2017 22:10

Sorry for your loss, Meadow.

The quilt is really beautiful, Lonely.

SnugglySnerd · 26/05/2017 22:11

Not sure what happened there, thought I'd lost the first post so reposted only in a different order!

Coppersulphate · 26/05/2017 22:53

quilt is amazing Lonely. You are so talented. And God only knows where you get all the time. I reckon it would take me a year to make that quilt, and it wouldn't be nearly that good.

Laska5772 · 26/05/2017 22:56

Oh DM has phoned all ok now... for now, , but my god it is so difficult to curate their domestics (and I dont want to) bed now and I have had too much Wine

Taytocrisps · 26/05/2017 23:11

Pay day yesterday (yaay!) and a little bit spendy. I spent €88.60 on summer clothes for me and DD. Also €24.75 on comfy bras and socks in M&S.

NSD today.

DH's car passed the NCT (is it MOT in the UK?) which is great news although the NCT itself cos us €55.

Another gorgeous day today although I was stuck in work all day and I think it's due to rain tomorrow. I sat out the front with a beer when I got home from work and soaked up the last few rays. DD had two friends over and they were out playing all evening. She talked me into having them again for a sleepover tomorrow night. They're nice kids though and I know she loves the company. I'd rather see her out playing with her friends in the fresh air than stuck on her tablet.

Meadow sorry to hear about your grandfather Flowers. Very tough when you should be chilling out after the exams and now you're facing the prospect of a long, stressful journey Sad.

Creme sorry to hear about the job. I'd be angry and upset too.

ememem84 · 26/05/2017 23:25

lonely yep. In dhs words "shit just got real" I mean obviously he knew baby boy is there he's seen pics and such. But still feeling him move is a big thing. I've been doing it for a while now he's a wiggle little one but this was the first time dh had experienced it.

Things are starting to smooth out. Thank goodness. girlie dh did not get off lightly re his shouty behaviour. Not by a long shot. But I think the threat of me not being around for much longer if it continued was enough to pull him back down from whatever perch he'd perched himself on.

We're about to have a storm here. People on the east coast have posted videos of the thunder coming in from France. We're mid island so nothing yet. But catface is being twitchy. She can sense it I suppose. She's basically under the duvet with me now. Snuggled up. man she's warm it's about 20 degrees here I do not need a fuzzy purry hot water bottle really. But she's frightened so she can stay. She's my favourite girl. I keep reminding her that she's safe. And it's just noise. Whether she understands or not I don't know...

AuditAngel · 26/05/2017 23:50

Thursday £39.01 for petrol (can reclaim)

Friday £31.10 (I think) in Tesco. Top up. Steak for dinner tonight, plus a small beef joint and 3 packs of chicken kink fillets to go into freezer as short on date.plus a lettice and some prepped. Fruit and quiche yo take to party tomorrow. £6.50 for take away lunch

AuditAngel · 26/05/2017 23:51

Oops, think it was £35.10

needastrongone · 27/05/2017 07:30

Lonely, your hair and quilt are equally lovely.

SunnyLikeThursday · 27/05/2017 07:31

Just an ordinary car copper It's quite far away so I'm not getting to test drive it. Dh is going to go and look at it and bring it home and we're crossing our fingers a bit that it is good.

Very many congratulations on finishing your exams Meadow. That's been a huge lot of work and you really are a star for doing it. You might feel a bit knackered for a while now, but that will pass and then you get to keep your lovely degree for life. Smile

northender · 27/05/2017 07:33

Sorry, haven't been on since Tuesday. Have tried to skim read & catch up so apologies to anyone I miss.

Em sounds like you've had a bit of a time of it. Keeping fingers crossed for you & the move & hope the storms have passed, think we're due some later today.
lonely the quilt looks great, I need to get back to mine.
need I heard about the exam mistake on the news, appalling. Ds didn't do Romeo & Juliet & seems fairly happy with how it went. Nothing else for him this year. Having two doing exams must be tough. How is your dh doing?
creme sorry you're having a crap time with work, our children & Young people need good teachers

It has been a fairly low spend week here although I had my hair done £45. Otherwise it has just been usual spends.
I'm going to do a car boot sale tomorrow morning to have a go at selling some things that haven't sold on eBay. If they don't sell then they will be charity shopped. I have loads of fabric that my mum has decided to get rid of as part of her big de clutter. Not sure how they'll go at a car boot but I'll try. There are 2 pieces of genuine 1940s fabric which came from her mum so I've listed those on eBay as "genuine vintage"! Lots of interest so far & a bid on one.
In non frugal news, the woman we know who was injured in the explosion is okay. She had a bolt removed from her leg on Wednesday & is home. She was waiting for her daughter (dd's friend) after the concert & was about 10m away from the bomb. Basically she survived because others didn't & is having a hard time coming to terms with that. She found her dd & friends & then drove them home before taking herself to hospital. She's not a close friend of ours but we know her ex & her children fairly well & so it has been far too close to home.

needastrongone · 27/05/2017 07:47

'Vintage' is the word of the moment isn't it North? Good to hear your DS felt his went fine. I do the same, stick a few sellable bits on EBay if it's worth it.

DH is okay, I'm wondering if he's a bit high, but says not. Work is crazy busy and his mood is often related to that, if he feels the business is doing well and making lots of money then he is more positive in general. This is our first month of the business year, and it's been a cracking month, this helps him tons.

Today I'm making salads and cake as we are having a family BBQ tomorrow. A quiet but relaxing day.

And a pile of ironing.....hate ironing...

needastrongone · 27/05/2017 07:50

There were a few from close to where we live directly involved too North. One of DD's friends was there, she came in for RE GCSE on Tuesday (day after) then went home. I think 3/4 victims from Leeds. Such a desperate, sad, unfathomable thing to do.

northender · 27/05/2017 08:08

Unfathomable is right need. Every credit to your dd's friend for doing her exam.
I hate ironing too, line drying is great as an ironing avoidance tactic!
Dd isn't speaking to me this morning as the tooth fairy has forgotten about her for the second night running.......she's 12!!

Laska5772 · 27/05/2017 08:36

Argh I did have too much Wine last night am decidedly yuck this morning. Massive thunder storm about 3am.

Loveabaconsandwich · 27/05/2017 08:38

Flowers north and the lady/DD north knows who was affected

In frugal news, today is the last day of our sky subscription. We did have a pretty deal £24 with sports though which I got last year after not having it for two weeks and £100 credit (DP mainly watches it). I have blocked sky's phone calls (DP told me not to though Grin) so we don't get sucked back in. Will use Now tv and maybe trial Netflix once our DC actually decide to go to bed at night again.

northender · 27/05/2017 08:52

Off to group training now, going to be weighed & body fat measured beforehand so fingers crossed. Hoping I'll have made my 2kg monthly target.
Ds has an injury so no cricket today (£8 saved in subs!). Thunderstorms & heavy rain are forecast so dd is hoping to get enough play in her game to get paid for scoring (if they get 20 overs, she gets paid)

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/05/2017 09:15

My car insurance has come through and they have increased it by £100 Shock why do they do this?? So now to trawl about looking for something cheaper which is a complete ball ache We get back from holiday on Thursday and have Friday at home so plan is for that day to do lots of washing and sorting swapping energy providers and car insurance people.

I don't understand why companies don't do more to keep loyal customers but would rather encourage them to leave Confused

Had a terrific storm here last night, lots of thunder and lightening. My garden is grateful for the rain, the washing on my line not so much!!

Lonely your hair Shock that is crazy long but looks in amazing condition. Beautiful quilt, I would love to be able to create something like that.

LonelyOversharer · 27/05/2017 09:46

north I have had a sensible conversation with each dd once I start forgetting! Dd3 still to "tell" and ds hasn't lost any teeth naturally yet (just his op at 2 to take out the non enamelled ones). Dd2 (11 in 3 weeks) got £5 for her last baby tooth, as she got awful ulcers under them as they loosened, and I was so pleased we were done! Handing them cash is sooo much easier than microscopic notes and glitter.

Cloudy and close here thus morning, hoping the storms get close enough so I don't have to water tonight!

needastrongone · 27/05/2017 09:53

I agree girlie. I always think that all these companies are really missing a trick on this one. What a marketing tool, offering loyal customers their best prices surely!

The exception to this is Plusnet, they call me when my current deal ends and ask if I want to move to their current cheapest tariff. And I stay, although accept this might not be the absolute cheapest deal.

Tried a new nail colour yesterday, it was so hot and summery. I'll get my toes done in this too next time.

May we continue our furious frugaleering into June : )
Loveabaconsandwich · 27/05/2017 09:53

girlie car is such an Angry of mine. They send a renewal with an increase, you end up spending time find cheaper options, then you ring to cancel and suddenly they can price match. It make me so cross!

ememem84 · 27/05/2017 10:07

Switched doctors today. New ones much more professional. Found out since mid march I've put on 4kg. 😀

Just run about tidying like a mad thing for the open house today. Luckily the weathers dull. If it's been hot we'd have no one interested.

Then off to a wedding. Hoping the sun comes out in time. 🌞🌞

Should be nsd. Doctors was free as was a registration appointment. And although it'll be a cash bar at the wedding I'm not drinking so dh can sub me a couple of soft drinks I'm sure! Haha!

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2017 10:17

Saga insurance was on you & yours years ago trying to justify it but Winifred Robinson totally nailed him. He tried to talk down to her too.

North I think the tooth fairy stops at 11.5yo Grin

Lonely Your hairs amazing! I love the quilt, it's educational as well as practical.

Need Is that alluring amythest?.
