Snuggly hmrc don't email.

I'm not sure if it's productive he's so full of snot. I think he's a bit wheezy with it.

allthebestplease · 19/11/2016 07:50

Just realised there's a new thread, anyway, I'm going to quit my job, so wish me luck. Phoning in sick Monday. Smile

WreckTangled · 19/11/2016 07:52

All the best allthebest Wink honestly good luck. I don't know much about claiming pip etc. I know my mum gets it. You have to do what's right for you

CathodeRayTube · 19/11/2016 08:01

Wreck with ds the only thing that seems to count is whether he has a temperature over 38 that doesn't come down below 38 with calpol. That gets antibiotics but everything else is just a virus. Have you tried calpol anyway? That really helps a cough with ds.

CathodeRayTube · 19/11/2016 08:05

Oh and one time when we had something like this I gave ds three of those little cartons of innocent smoothie and that really helped. If there's gunk in the lungs that isn't moving then getting the child really well hydrated helps as it loosens the gunk.

Ds often just lives on crumbs of biscuits for a while when he has stuff like this. It's really worrying I know, but we just sort of cope that way. Diluted Jamaican ginger beer goes down a storm here. Good luck there. Sorry this is quickly written but I dashing about.

Free McCain roast potatoes on the shopmium app. Free Taylor's coffee bags too.

WreckTangled · 19/11/2016 08:44

Not given calpol as he isn't unhappy. Have given ventolin. Might give him some more.

CathodeRayTube · 19/11/2016 08:51

That's a good idea. My MIL said to give calpol as it takes the pain out of the throat and then the child stops coughing. If found that worked really well with ds. Does your ds have asthma then? That maybe alters whether it is a thing for a gp to look at.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 19/11/2016 09:06

No he doesn't the inhaler is left over from the spring when his hayfever was so bad he needed one.

CathodeRayTube · 19/11/2016 09:17

Ah, yes I see what you mean. That's good.

We've had coughs like the one your ds has, with no eating and lots of coughing. We just got by, by giving him lots of anything at all that he would drink, calpol for the pain in the throat, and little bits of anything that he would eat.

In really tricky situations I default to dilute jamaican ginger beer and little bits of ginger biscuits, but small cartons of smoothie or fruit juice go down very well in general coughs and colds. Unless he has a temperature that won't come down below 38 the gp can't really do anything, and kids under 6 aren't allowed cough medicine.

Did you try the vick-on-the-feet idea? I've no idea whether that works, but the others here seem to swear by it.

There's always the pharmacist if you would like to look for other ideas, and if you're really worried then a trip to the out of hours gp might be the thing.

Sorry you're dealing with this. I know what it's like looking after an ill little person. Hang in there. Flowers

Good luck, Allthebest!
Just got another Xmas gift with a 10% off voucher and bought some hair stuff with my Boots points. They seem to have stopped doing the own brand curl creme which I'm gutted about as it is so cheap.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/11/2016 10:36

Good luck, allthebest

£17 co op

Cagliostro · 19/11/2016 11:23

Allthebest I've replied in more detail on the end of the previous thread but I'd just phone in sick/get signed off for now and maybe talk to CAB or something as staying off sick may be better financially Thanks

Thanks for new thread CRT :)

I'm trying to stay off MN and sort more house stuff out. I've been asking around about cheaper places to look but the immediate priority is sorting out the massive amount of clutter etc. So we've been moving forward on that.

I did that blog post about the concert and the company LOVED it :) a few people have booked already using my code, yay!

Best get myself in gear for the day.

Ursulatodd · 19/11/2016 11:24

Sorry to hear about poorly coughs - is could a steamy room help?

Well done on the xmas shopping - I need to get out my present stash to wrap and work out what still needs to be bought. I like to get this done before December so I can sit back with a mince pie and relax!

Not a lsd yesterday but interesting to see how out of touch I am with our spending! £1.45 breakfast club, 50p CiN, £22.50 fish&chips for us and in-laws and £57.10 Tesco delivery.

mammymammyIRL · 19/11/2016 12:28

Wreck I hope your ds is still perky.
Allthebest what's brought this about?

In town now, few bits to get today is super spendy as we're buying the ride on lawnmower and paying mechanic Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/11/2016 13:01

£17.20 butchers

ememem84 · 19/11/2016 13:56

£25 riding and I've done myself a mishap

Wrist was hurting yesterday. Strapped itbup before my lesson today and it's pulled a bit more. I dh suspects I've sprained it.

Owwweeee!! Am under strict instructions to rest it and to visit dr/out of hours/a&e if it gets worse. Or if it hasn't healed in a week.

No idea how I've done it thought.

Thanks everyone and to cag, ive been ill for a year and have been scraping by and ive been so tired for so long. And ive fallen out of love with the job, ill do tutoring, dog walking, cleaning anything to get by and be happy again. Finally had enough. I saw consultant 2 weeks ago and she said is it time for a sabbatical and wanted to sign me off for 3 months.

Anyway, having a relaxing day my dad is round to watch the rugby.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/11/2016 15:38

Would you get full pay if she signs you off for three months?.

Needastrongone · 19/11/2016 17:56

I would also recommend not handing your notice in, get the consultant to sign you off. I feel sure you would be better protected, with or without pay long term.

Spends today.
£7.50 riding lesson.
£70 diesel for horse box.
£?? on the girls grabbing food at the services, which wasn't planned.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/11/2016 18:18

Wreck dd had a terrible cough over half term and vicks on the feet was the only thing that helped Confused God knows how it works but it does, you have to put Vicks on the soles of the feet and then put socks on - doesn't work without socks Grin I always dose dd up with calpol as well.

I have been working all day, very busy and had a moan to the powers that be that I worked straight through 8 1/2 hours without a break, not that it will make any difference! Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I stopped at a garage to use their loo and picked up a sandwich and drink to have between visits £3.80.

em ouch!

Just been chatting to my brother about Christmas, this we will get my mum a fitbit between us, any recommendations or things to know?!

WreckTangled · 19/11/2016 18:29

Ouch em!

£64 tesco shop then another £15 in store
£30 fuel

Ds has been coughing non stop. He enjoyed a party we went to but I wouldn't let him go to another he had this afternoon. I didn't give calpol as I think he has a fever to try and fight the virus so I let it be as he was happy enough. He asked to go to bed at 4pm and is now happily having a bath. No temperature but lots of coughing still! I know myself that if he's happy in himself he doesn't need a dr but it's always nice to hear everyone else agree!

So anyway hopefully we are going to London tomorrow for the hamleys toy parade. We are close enough that if ds feels unwell we can be home in an hour and a half.

ememem84 · 19/11/2016 18:42

all I want to disagree with everyone. i handed my notice in when I'd had enough. For me it was the knowing I had an end point. For my mental health I had to have the end point.

I know our situations are different. But I basically just wanted to throw my two pence in.

Wrist hurts. but not much I can do about it. Just resting.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/11/2016 19:13

£1 bin liners.

Ordered cushion and vacuum bags off JL but I used vouchers to pay for it.
