cathode less waste is a frugal success in itself.
wreck you're like me with a big list of people to buy for

CathodeRayTube · 14/11/2016 14:47

Thanks Em. I didn't know about that.

Thanks Mammy too. Anything that helps me feel good about feeding the blokes well is a good thing. :-) Did I mention that Dh is Irish? I think Irishmen need to be fed well. Would you agree?

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/11/2016 14:48

Some loyalty cards are really worth having. I've got loads.

Today was £5 on loo roll, two fridge odour absorbers & Zoflora in homebargains.

The company I complained to about my courier delivery is refunding me the £15 courier charge. I've been a customer for years so it's a good move on their part.

I need to order two poncey LED bulbs on Thursday so it will pay for them.

I've decided to order a Miele tumble drier in May when the sofa finishes. I reckon it will be better on the laundry & cost pennies to run because of my trusty spin dryer. I've found a company who do six months interest free on them. Just one more winter with the clothes horses.

CathodeRayTube · 14/11/2016 15:00

Does anybody else have a Tesco credit card and think of changing it now tesco boost has gone? I'm not sure what the best ones are, but I'm wondering if I should look into it.

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 15:13

Cathode yes to feeding dh more but I thought it was all men rather than just Irish men!

Also yes to the Tesco cc. I switched my other cc to a 0% one a few months ago because I wanted to keep my Tesco one for the deals points, now that is gone to 1 point for every €8 spent or something fairly worthless like that I'm sorry it wasn't that card I switched. I'll have the other one paid off by end of January I think and will switch Tesco one to a 0% deal.

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 15:17

I'm tempted by a company called Eatstro that are advertising on facebook. They're a meal plan company, 3 meals for 2 adults is €55 but they've lovely meals, that's 40% of our weekly shopping budget. They also do 3 meals for a family for €90.

I'm thinking this would be a big help on the weeks that au pair is away or else as a treat during Christmas break to give us restaurant quality meals at home.

ememem84 · 14/11/2016 15:18

I have all the loyalty cards. Including two local ones for the two brewery's here....

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 15:22

Eatstro Link

fluffy and em I have all the loyalty cards too. I've put them on a keyring of their own that I can clip on and off my bunch of keys so that I'm not carrying them around everywhere, and I leave it in the car unless I'm shopping

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/11/2016 17:02

Hey star.
I have most loyalty cards but tesco is poor now. £2 I got off the cc this time round and I put hundreds on it. I'm thinking of going to nectar cc instead.
Nsd today. Still doing application form. Making effective decisions anyone?
Cath if you are getting less waste and a more balanced, varied diet then that has to be better surely.

CremeEggThief · 14/11/2016 17:10

Welcome Star. Smile

Definitely sounds better, Cath. You're saving through not wasting lots of food.

NSD so far, but I'll spend £1.90 on the bus home after Pilates.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/11/2016 17:27

Lifelong sounds like ditching the Tesco card is an effective decision!

Cathode I shop with Ocado mostly. I often buy their own brand (eg pasta) and don't find it more expensive than the big supermarkets, and it has the advantage of selling all the Waitrose stuff, some of which is really good. I don't think we would save if we shopped in another big supermarket unless Aldi /Lidl. However, I don't do weekly shops with DS at all as he can't handle it, online works best for us and reduces my impulse purchases!

Big spend yesterday, over £200 in Homebase buying paint and other supplies for the hallway and a standing lamp (half price, clearance stock). Got to go back again tonight for primer, as I wasn't sure what I needed to get. Work starts tomorrow.

Incidentally, it said on my Homebase receipt that nectar pint collection and redemption at home see stops after new year. Shame really, I almost never shop at Sainsbury's as it's not my nearest but I have evidently spent a lot in home ASD over the years because I now have over £150 in nectar points Shock

ChristmasSeacow · 14/11/2016 17:27

Homebase, not home ASD!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/11/2016 17:31

Hi all Smile welcome newbies.

Spent £68 in Morrisons today, we had an empty fridge and needed to top up the tins etc also got cat litter and food.

£4.20 on swimming, didn't wear my goggles and my vision has been all fuzzy ever since!!

ememem84 · 14/11/2016 19:05

£2.36 in Waitrose on chicken goujons for dinner. Yay!

Catface has been very chatty today.

I'm trying some serious self care today. Dinner (aforementioned goujons sweet potato chips and onion rings and salad) watch a bit of tv then early night and read some book.

Need to make myself feel better. Feeling a bit meh today. Not anxious. Just meh. Just like I can't be bothered. I've walked to and from work so have done exercise too

Mumstudentbum · 14/11/2016 19:15

Thank you all for the welcome!

Hope everyone's day has been good? I spent £6.30 in asda on a few bits of food earlier, this was good to say it fed 5 of us for tea before I go shopping tomorrow. And that's it! Expecting to spend a fair bit tomorrow as I'm doing a big food shop

Also I got £32 of Tesco club card vouchers in the post. Don't normally shop in Tesco so how can I make the most of these? Thank you x

WreckTangled · 14/11/2016 19:17

Mum you can quadruple those vouchers if you exchange them for days out or restaurant vouchers.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/11/2016 19:29

You can double £25 of them into figleaves vouchers, I think it's valid on sale stuff, I certainly couldn't see anything to say full price only when I looked last week.

Mumstudentbum · 14/11/2016 19:29

Where can I check this please #clueless lol

WreckTangled · 14/11/2016 19:37
