Cathode my android box effectively makes our normal tv a smart tv

CathodeRayTube · 13/11/2016 17:36

Fluffy I love robot vacuum cleaners. They are the best thing ever, I reckon. When we had our hall floor changed to wood I bought a Braava for £150 and it does the wood for me which is fantastic.

mammy That sounds great. I'm trying to make a PC that runs android so our PC would effectively be like a huge smartphone and would run Android apps. I used to use a programme called bluestacks for it but it can't access a bluetooth dongle, which is required for connecting to sphero robots.

For tv we go the opposite way round to you. We have a PC with a PC screen set up where our tv used to be so instead of having a smart tv we have an actual windows computer and we watch tv on the internet or record tv on our humax box and download the programmes to external hard drives for storage. Your way sounds great. Smile

WreckTangled · 13/11/2016 18:03

I've got a massive bruise on my foot as I dropped a table on it yesterday.

ememem84 · 13/11/2016 18:33

Ouch wreck

Just made chilli beef nachos. Yummy.

mammymammyIRL · 13/11/2016 19:02

Cathode you are a lot more techie than me I'm good with GUI type stuff but not so good with nuts & bolts of things I guess.

Yours sounds great too, I'm going to see if I need an external hard drive to record or if we can manage with streaming

mammymammyIRL · 13/11/2016 19:04

Poor wreck how was your ds party?

Dh is treating us to last nights chinese Grin we had leftovers tonight, far from a Sunday roast as you can get Grin

Mumstudentbum · 13/11/2016 21:02

Spent today cleaning and playing board games so nsd today

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/11/2016 21:21

Welcome Mum.

I've been looking at the good housekeeping Christmas taste reviews & Iceland won quite a few of them. Notably the turkey & mince pies Shock

isthatmorelego · 13/11/2016 22:45

Sat was gulp £130 in ASDA normally do Morrisons will need about £20 to top up fruit / veg / milk and bread sounds a lot but ds1 is an adult who works hard in the building game / plays rugby so to be fair he pays board so feeding him is expensive but he is still our son . Today was £3 pocket money for ds2 . Ds1 and girlfriend took ds2 out for most of the day so no more spends

Tryingtosaveup · 13/11/2016 23:13

Welcome Mum. Saving for a house deposit is tough for anyone these days. But it must be harder as a student with 3 DCs.
NSD here thankfully. Still got to pay the £65 for going in box junction and the builder tells me I need 10m squared of tiles for bathroom floors. So need to do that this week.

WreckTangled · 14/11/2016 05:51

Welcome mum Smile

Today will be spendy as going Christmas shopping but have sold the toot toot garage for £25 and that's being collected later.

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 06:10

Welcome mum let us know if we can advise you on anything, collectively we're a knowledgeable bunch Wink

Lego I'm not in uk but that sounds like a lot, will it get you through the week?

WreckTangled · 14/11/2016 07:14

Is it ok to leave a bag of stuff outside a charity shop before it opens? I'm going past this morning about ten mins before it opens..

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/11/2016 08:05

Hello mum
I would wreck staff will be inside
Nsd planned. Think ds is coming down with d&v

Star2015 · 14/11/2016 08:28

Hi,

Can I join in (again) please?

I was desperately unhappy in my job so much so it was making me ill so I handed my notice in... I finish on 30th Nov. DH is such a great support and hated seeing me coming home so upset and unhappy so after some number crunching said just leave.

It's a scary prospect as I earn a very good salary so going from that to £0 is worrying. However, I have a job interview today and I'm seeing an agency on Wednesday as well as having put lots of other applications in so I'm hoping it won't take me long to find something else. No don't my salary will be much less but I'm working on the theory happiness over money. Hope long term that works for us!

Today should be a NSD for me. DH may collect some milk and bread after work but that will be it.

Have a great day everyone! Smile

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 08:30

Enjoy your day shopping wreck

I'm visiting IKEA on thurs.....

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 08:34

Hi star2015 welcome to the thread.

Your happiness is definitely worth more than money. I gave up a second job last August and don't know myself since. Life for our family has really improved.

Is it you & dh or have you dc? Best of luck with today's interview.

Star2015 · 14/11/2016 09:28

Thanks mammy yes it's just me and DH unfortunately plans to have a family didn't o how we would have liked so we're going to be a family of 2 💗

Thanks for your best wishes and I'm glad to hear you are happier since leaving your other job Smile

mammymammyIRL · 14/11/2016 10:29

I didn't mean to pry star just to advise you best of how to manage is all.

Star2015 · 14/11/2016 13:15

Didn't come across as prying at all mammy honestly Smile

Interview done and dusted... Just got a week to wait now to find out if I've been successful Confused

ememem84 · 14/11/2016 13:19

star happiness over money all the way! I trained as a lawyer and worked in that environment until it started to make me ill. Then carried on for another 18 months believing things would change. They didn't.

I left and haven't looked back. If I'd stayed there is no doubt I'd be pulling in £70k+ a year now. But it's not about that.

I am now in probably a busier job but less stressful iyswim. Earning less but happy.

Good luck for your change.

£16 on a new colouring book and some pencils. Self care is needed here.

CathodeRayTube · 14/11/2016 13:40

I've been rushing about this morning. I've realised that we're all getting too cold here so I went out to buy warm pyjamas and hats and gloves. Dh has adjusted the radiator thermostats and now the house is evenly warm all over instead of being too hot in some places and too cold in others, in spite of constant readjustment.

We've been trying food shopping in M&S and Waitrose and it costs more but Dh and Ds like the food more so I can cook less and nothing is left on the plate, which seems like a good thing. They have far more gluten-free stuff which is really helping to get ds a better, and more varied, diet. I'll find out at the end of the month what the price difference was.

ememem84 · 14/11/2016 13:48

cathode if you've got a Waitrose card sign yourself up to the 5 picks thing. I think you get 25% off your 5 favourite/most purchased things.

I've also just spent £23.86 on Amazon on cat food (Royal canin 2kg biscuits for £8.87, Harry Potter colouring book £4.99 and £10 on a makeup bag for dm for Christmas)

WreckTangled · 14/11/2016 14:07

Welcome star! Fingers crossed about the job.

Well I'm not sure how much I spent. Less than £50. Anyway, apart from dd's main present (a desk from idea which is £45) I have finished for the dc. Oh and chocolate coins but I can get those anywhen.

Still have two sisters, brother, bil (token gift), nan x2, grandad x2 aunt and uncle x2, mum, dad, step mum and step dad to buy for Sad
