CollieMonster · 10/11/2016 08:57

It's actually more green & navy than yellow. Weird lighting!

WreckTangled · 10/11/2016 09:15

Yes it is warm! It's quite a new building

ChristmasSeacow · 10/11/2016 11:38

Love the pics but I'm not posting what I am wearing as I look a bit rough today Grin. Em, I love that dress!

Had a roofer round to quote for getting the roof fixed - we don't need a whole new roof (thank god!) but we have quite a few missing and loose tiles and the pointing on the ridge tiles is shot. Anyway, he also had a look at our condensation problem and said that he thinks the lagging need cutting back in places and some ventilation bricks installing, which he will include. We are going for it so it will be £1250 in 2-3 weeks time. We also have a decorator booked to paint our hallway next week - we've been here several years and not done it so it looks appalling. I've painted the rest of the house myself but can't do the hallway because of the high bits around the stairs. So it's an expensive time - but the first opportunity I've had to get anything done in ages because of our both working FT and commuting previously. I figure it needs to be done - either I'll get back to earning at some point, in which case we can replenish our savings, or if that's not an option we'll have to sell up anyway, in which case we'd need to do the remedial work to the house, so we may as well crack on. And have a watertight roof for winter. Gulp.

Spends today £72 to the boiler service man for yesterday, and £70 to DS's private SLT who comes fortnightly. We can't really afford to do this but can't afford not to, iyswim. In- laws have said in the past they'd be happy to help if there are any costs for therapy, I haven't liked to ask but will discuss with DH whether we should take them up on it as we may have to cut back otherwise. It was a really good session today, I am learning loads by observing. Was v proud of DS today and also at the nursery parents' evening yesterday. He is very behind his age group for most things but actually ahead in pre-school maths. I am just so glad he has something he can be successful in, it will really help his confidence. He's not very aware of other children and comparing himself yet but I am sure he will be soon, and that will be hard.

Will be a bit more spend later, parking at the SN playgroup we go to. And possibly more %#{€$* strawberries. Though there seems to be a supply problem at tesco and the posh greengrocer on our high st is ridiculously expensive (and yesterday's weren't even very good). Hate buying ridiculous fruit out of season!

ememem84 · 10/11/2016 12:50

Yay! Lovely outfits! wreck I love your shirt. mammy so cosy cosy. I love a cosy jumper

collie cute dress!!

£1 at the pet shop on a knitted hedgehog full of catnip. I have to do catfaces flea treatment tonight and want a distraction for her.

CathodeRayTube · 10/11/2016 13:01

I had a successful morning. We spent £150 on a private medical opinion (referred by GP and NHS ped) and the lady says I'm burnt out and probably have a habit of it (Yes!) and that ds is just young and had had a rough few years that he needs time to get over. She says she'll write a letter to get him the afternoons off that he needs, as long as her credentials are okay for the school. She's NHS four days a week so I think she should be.

I feel a lot better for having been properly listened to finally. She's going to explain to the GP, which hopefully helps too, though we still need to move practice so we can actually get there when we need to see a GP.

Frugaleering is so great. This time last year I never would have been able to work out whether we could afford a private medical appointment. Yay!

Hoping now that this works and that some other red tape doesn't come to get us.

Cagliostro · 10/11/2016 15:21

Great about the maths progress Seacow it's a huge advantage in life to be comfortable with numbers. There's loads of stuff you can do with him at home to encourage it as well.

Frugal win today! The concert company I reviewed on my blog just emailed me to offer free tickets to their Christmas show (which I really wanted to go to but couldn't afford) in exchange for helping promote it on said blog. Epic! :o :o

Cathode I'm always surprised how many patients aren't listened to. Dh gets it too.

Sea Excellent plan. It would cost loads more to fix it at a later date when the damage is worse.

Utter let down of a day. Work stuff didn't turn up so I've had to rebook today's work for Monday 😡 I paid £15 for pre 10:30am delivery to. I had the window film reserved for pick up after work so I will have to reserve it again.

£48 weekly food shop.
£4 homebargains bits.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/11/2016 15:35

Well done Cag. Best get the train tickets booked then Star

Needastrongone · 10/11/2016 16:11

Great new Cath. I'm glad you were listened to and that action is being taken for yourself and DS. Great news. Would I be right in making the observation that you have had a very positive week or so? Your posts certainly seem to indicate that is the case Smile

Brill news on the tickets Cag, what a good score!

That's a crap day indeed Fluffster.

NSD, 2 in a row. I did get petrol but that's claimable as I've done a lot of work miles recently.

WreckTangled · 10/11/2016 16:14

Wow Cag that's brilliant.

Thanks em it's from Zara

£6 something in tesco on butter and lunch

Need fuel

Ds is a goat in his school play. I'm going to make him horns and a beard...

Needastrongone · 10/11/2016 16:15

I also need to get a present tomorrow for my goddaughter, who is 8 on Saturday. Yes, I have a DD myself (!!) but she's 15 and I've forgotten when they play with at that age already... She's quite a stereotype kind of girl and loves reading. Not very outdoorsy and active, which my two were, so I'm lost.

Please please I need suggestions? About £20 I'm happy to spend as this is my BF's DD.

WreckTangled · 10/11/2016 17:06

So dd has a new swimming teacher and he is HOT. Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 10/11/2016 17:17

Need at that age I loved stationery (pencil cases, fancy pens, novelty erasers, ink stamp sets etc) or books. Books might be tricky if you don't know what she already has. Or accessories - I am getting my goddaughter, who is 9, a really nice hairbrush and hair towel (microfibre turban thing, pretty pattern) for her December birthday - will get some fancy hair clips and bobbles too. Last year I gave her a fossil mining set (plaster with fossils embedded, and some tools) - she wasn't especially interested in stuff like that but I am a scientist so wanted to get her a not-necessarily-girly present sometimes and she really loved it.

I also think you can't go too wrong with a nice purse (they like to feel grown up at that age) or a hat /scarf/glove set in nice colours. Hope that helps?

WreckTangled · 10/11/2016 17:23

Need I would go to accessorise or paperchase Smile

CathodeRayTube · 10/11/2016 18:05

Thanks Fluffy I'm glad it's not just me.

Yes need it does seem to be pottering along doesn't it?

How is your leg now? I hope it's getting better for you.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/11/2016 18:45

Has she got all the Roald Dahl and David Walliam books Need? Dd loves DW!! Otherwise hama bead and aqua bead sets have been popular with dd for the last few years or lego?

Wreck bet that makes the lesson go a bit quicker!!

I have managed a NSD i think although actually I did give dd a couple of quid for poppy day activities!

Love all the outfits, you're a stylish bunch! I'm here in my pjs and a hoody Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/11/2016 19:08

£10 in aldi as full day at work then gyne appointment, needed chocolate.
Good result with the appointment cath. And the voucher win
Not so good fluff. How annoying.
Nice outfits. I mean to be stylist at work but it never lasts long.

CremeEggThief · 10/11/2016 19:16

Need, there's a kids' chain called Smiggle, which seems very popular with pre-teens. Bet you find lots she'll like there.

Spends: £6.90 lunch out, £1.60 Greggs (cinnamon bun and cookie for DS) and £3.70 bus.

Good news- I've got my cashback from UK Power from when I switched energy providerating, after 9 months.

Bad news- still waiting for £100 cashback from switching to the Co-op in April (7 months wait so far) and £70 cashback for switching to EE for fibre broadband at the beginning of August (3.5 months wait so far).

Does anyone else find Topcashback take so long to pay out? It almost puts me off using them. Is Quidco any different?

Wildernesstips · 10/11/2016 19:22

Need Firebox has an awesome unicorn light which I would buy for my niece if she lived in the UK. Sounds awful, but is lush!

CollieMonster · 10/11/2016 19:23

Wish we had a Paperchase in this shit county! And a Zara. Grin

Almost broke me foot today. But a successful NSD. Have done about £2 in Nectar Surveys though. Their Double Up event is soon!

CollieMonster · 10/11/2016 19:27

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/11/2016 19:31

CremeEggThief · 10/11/2016 19:39

Oh dear at Quidco being even worseSad.

I had an email from Sainsburys about the double up. I think it's between the 6th and 22nd.

CremeEggThief · 10/11/2016 19:41
