allthebest they're happy to change the name do you want to PM me?

Needastrongone · 03/11/2016 21:10

Girlie. Yep, normality here too re long hours encroaching. It did in FS when I worked full time in that industry. There's no 'off' button at all for DH. He's been away 3 of the last 4 weekends. It's all we have ever known though, and I think it's part of his bi-polar (energy levels). The financial rewards are high to balance the downs, not that I give a shit about that, but being financially secure can soften the blow I suppose. The DC 'get' it too at their age now. Bit like your pay packet. Smile

You will find the glove Cag, promise. It's just been one of those days for you.

Boxercise was very very hard and I ran there and back!! Chicken broth was good though. Smile

ememem84 · 03/11/2016 22:25

girlie dad used to be emergency services so he would work Christmas sometimes. As you say it comes with the territory.

My sad lonely New Year's Eve in the office with a ready meal and a stolen from senior partners office whisky was not my finest NYE. Sad

But hey ho.

Catface has taken up residence under our bed

AdoraBell · 03/11/2016 22:42

Still no heat, emmersion heater not working either so no hot water. Electrician will now be here tomorrow, unless he can't. To be fair we only called him late last night.

NSD for he, DH bought me a hot chocolate.

Cag well done on the voucher, oops with the missed classed but don't be too hard on yourself, it happens sometimes.

isthatmorelego · 03/11/2016 22:44

cag cold is a pain trigger here also back just locks down completely.
Thanks for welcome back need.
Today's spend £80 food shop in lidl
£15 waffle maker on slimming world and boys love them do cheaper than buying by box .
£15 tesco on god knows what only went for frozen leeks to make cawl .

CremeEggThief · 03/11/2016 23:01

£4.20 window cleaner. £3.80 bus fare (my friend gave me a lift home, so only needed a single), £7.50 cinema ticket, £3.50 glass of wine and £2 popcorn. Total: £ 21.

Tryingtosaveup · 03/11/2016 23:07

Blimey, just caught up on thread. That £30K scam was scary.
Cag, you are so hard on yourself. You won £100. Now treat yourself. You deserve it.
Another NSD here, but only because DP is here and he pays.
Collie, good news on the house? Yes?

mammymammyIRL · 04/11/2016 05:52

Adora snap no heating working here since Monday morning Sad house is well insulated so only getting cold upstairs last night. Open fire downstairs so that's keeping dc warm by day. Plus side it proves solar panels are working as we've warm water Smile
Part hopefully ready today & dh will fit himself.

Made €130 on Facebook selling this week - sold car seat, cycle helmet & some baby toys. This money will purchase next car seat for ds & cycle helmets for both dc.

Spends €10 Unislim budgeted €14.99 13 Tupperware containers set not budgeted, my lunch leaked out of old takeaway container yesterday so going to recycle everything in that press that hasn't a good seal.

mammymammyIRL · 04/11/2016 06:33

3 of the new Tupperware coming to work with me one with overnight oats, another with grated cheese and a tomato for fulling my toasted wrap at lunchtime & another with two eggs and a pitta bread for my scrambled eggs for breakfast at work! Dd came in this morning so spent my time for breakfasting at home chatting to her Hmm

allthebestplease · 04/11/2016 06:38

Wreck yes please pm me.

WreckTangled · 04/11/2016 06:46

Creme our window cleaner charges £20! Needless to say we've never had them cleaned...

Allthebest I'll try they've stopped you being able to do it on the app Hmm

ememem84 · 04/11/2016 06:52

mammy snaps! Scrambled eggs for breakfast here too.

Should be nsd. Pea and mint soup for lunch in my soup pot ready for chucking in the microwave.

It's pouring today so no comfy uggs probably a good thing they are so ugly but redeem themselves with their warmth and comfort

Catface spent most of last night either playing with her toys or sitting in our room purring. Dh let her in. So much for "she's never coming in our room Ems". I knew he'd cave.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/11/2016 07:03

£30 in sainsburys yesterday.
May shlep to aldi at lunch for bits.
£3.80 fitness class

Cag today is a new day. Hope you find your glove.
We are an emergency service family too so having odd days off and working bank holidays is par for the course. I'm pissed off about the sense of entitlement some people have about having a long break at Christmas. Work, not here.
Em, comfort over style each time. Bonus if comfortable is also stylish.
Have read but sorry if I've missed anything major.
Long, long week at work, tis not fun atm

ememem84 · 04/11/2016 08:04

life I would go comfort but the uggs would soak up the rain like sponges. Am walking in today. So this is the footwear of choice.

BOO! The Freaky Frugaleers prepare for Halloween and beyond. All welcome!
mammymammyIRL · 04/11/2016 08:26

em I've a very similar pair!

Today I've cosy slippers socks on with my fleecy insoles in my boots also, all kinds of toasty!

mammymammyIRL · 04/11/2016 08:57

Found a beautiful perfume in Aldi last night €4.99 a bottle, tested it & could still get lingering fragrance this morning so will purchase. Little Flowers it was called. Will put away so one of the dc can give it to me at Christmas!!

Needastrongone · 04/11/2016 08:59

Love da boots Em. I'm very much into my suede ankle boots and Hush skirt at the minute.

Spends to report.
£30 M&S deposit for Christmas food. Having Christmas here, but splitting food between myself and SIL. Decided on a 3 bird roast rather than turkey this year. Living life on the edge...
£200 dog food. Big outlay, but it's easily the cheapest way to buy the food they have. 6 big bags will last about 5 months for 2 dogs.

Today.
Cleaner £30.
Popping to Sains to look for any Christmas presents there.
Boots, probably a tenner for shampoo/conditioner.
Withdrawal of £100, of which £5 for DS karate and £40 driving lesson.

Pleased that the dog food can come out of this weeks budget as I've spent so little of my allocated weekly amount.

Chicken broth will do for tonight too for DH, DS eats out Fridays and so myself and DD will have a salad.

Hope you ok Life. Flowers

Taytocrisps · 04/11/2016 08:59

Joining the scrambled egg breakfast club. I bought eggs on Wednesday for baking so decided to use some up. I'm off to Dublin later, to stay with family. I'm taking DD to Ireland's biggest shopping centre - Dundrum Town Centre. Unless I see any suitable Christmas presents, I'm not planning to actually buy anything. They've an ice rink so DD quite fancies going ice skating.

Needastrongone · 04/11/2016 09:00

Ah perfume you say Mammy. Another weakness of mine....I will leave the house without makeup, but rarely perfume.

Needastrongone · 04/11/2016 09:02

Brrr for cold homes.

Well done on the Facebook sales mammy. I've just downloaded MyFitnessPal, mainly for exercise but I might food track for a week, which will be interesting......

mammymammyIRL · 04/11/2016 09:07

Enjoy tayto think I'll be there on 17th, ds has annual check up in crumlin & calling to a friend who lives near dundrum. I find it too hot & busy, love Blanchardstown or the square, tallaght though.

ememem84 · 04/11/2016 09:09

need hush skirt....suede ankle boots....sounds very comfy.

Our secretary has brought cake in today. Apple cake. And custard. She is my favourite.

Needastrongone · 04/11/2016 09:12

Apple cake and custard, nom nom. French Connection oversized jumper on top (which I have in 3 colours as it washes like a dream, never creases and goes with everything I own!!)

CathodeRayTube · 04/11/2016 09:12

Em That sounds like a brilliant career change that you have made. I'm so glad that you are in a job that makes you happy now and that pays well too.

I was in the same tight spot and I also really didn't like the long hours culture and all the pressure. I changed from the formal academic track to a technical staff track in computers. The new job was much better paid and had far better job security. My salary went up by x2.5 overnight which was great (though comically still not enough to let me buy a single room studio flat here). The job security enabled me to start a proper life leading to marriage and ds, which was what I wanted.

I think it's a wonderful thing when a person chooses a job that suits them instead of a career that is considered better, but actually isn't. Smile

I finally got out of renting a single room in a shared house when I was 32 btw. High living indeed.
