Italian go for a Braun ear thermometer it's what all the Drs use here.

CathodeRayTube · 03/11/2016 12:58

Italian We have this one, or the previous generation. It's great. The GPs use it too and I like it because ds is very happy with it and it seems very reliable.

Thank you wreck and cat, just found it on the Danish pharmacy online shop for same price as Amazon so it's ordered. It's apparently also recommended by the Danish pharmaceutical so that must mean its good and the reviews also looks good,,,., thanks again FlowersStar

cag we all make mistakes, don't be so hard on yourself.
Just been out playing tennis with dc, the house here has a court so no cost. The other families have gone out doing other stuff & we'll all meet up later. I've put 2 different curries in the slow cookers for tonight's tea. Each year I tend to have responsibility for the food ordering & cooking. I don't mind as everyone else does the cleaning & tidying. We've done really well this week for spending, helped by amazing weather for the time of year. Last day tomorrow, then back to reality on Saturday.

Hopefully the carpets in the new loft room and ds' room will have gone down while we've been away. We worked like mad to get the skirting boards painted before we left. Ds has slept in the front room for the past 2 and a half months so it'll be great to get him back into his bedroom again.

CremeEggThief · 03/11/2016 14:37

Tomorrow is another day, Cag (hugs). Please do keep the Amazon voucher for yourself.Brew

NSD so far, but going to see a film with a friend tonight, so I'll report back with spends later.

Cagliostro · 03/11/2016 15:19

Thank you lovely Frugaleers Thanks Star

Yes that's exactly it need - when I'm sitting out in the cold, I tense up, which I guess is a reflex really. So the extra strain on my muscles is what makes me more achy and tired I suppose.

Need to get a new hoodie as I only have one that fits! I did get gloves today though. And a massive bag of 2nd hand lego for a tenner.

My DS got himself a lovely coat on Amazon with a voucher he got for his birthday recently, Cag. Just thought I'd mention it, as Amazon isn't the 1st place that you think of for online clothes shopping.

£4.20 to window cleaner.

I was a bit experimental and made apple, celery and potato soup earlier. It was tasty, actually. Smile

If you use top cash back at all, converting cash in your account to an Amazon giftcard often gives extra rewards, other vouchers/shops too. Just thought I would mention.

Soup looks lovely Creme, here's my chicken broth.

Sorry for typos as I am on the phone.

Rug arrived but has a couple of marks on it so is going back.

NSD so far, but really tempted to get wine later.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/11/2016 18:02

WreckTangled · 03/11/2016 18:02

Nsd. Woop.

WreckTangled · 03/11/2016 18:06

Also when I got to work I had 32 messages in my inbox, I got it down to 9 but by the time I left it was up to 75

Will try and get some more done tomorrow but I'm on reception so will be limited in what I can do.

Taytocrisps · 03/11/2016 18:12

NSD. I made cookies with DD using a BBC recipe and they turned out perfectly. Last time we made them (different recipe), the cookie dough expanded rapidly and we ended up with one giant rectangular cookie Blush.

allthebestplease · 03/11/2016 18:17

wreck sorry if youve already got it sorted, but I might be able to buy the ticket off you for Santa at Harrods?

I'm really cold too! Going to get my pjs on in a bit

ememem84 · 03/11/2016 18:52

catching up - i wrote a post at lunchtime but lost it.

so:

tax seminar was interesting. loads of work to be done from it. those of you on this thread who are UK resident but non domiciled and have various assets (investments, houses etc) get ye to a tax adviser and get some advice. changes are a coming if you want to leave the uk permanently. or even if you are thinking about it. they are also changing the inheritance tax rules forUK res non doms.

bacon rolls (the important bit) were amazing. there were also lots of lovely mini pastries. le super yum. and super strong coffee Grin

work has been hellish. stupid busy, everyone wants a piece of me it seems. our compliance team are hounding me to produce things i just can't do (because they don't exist), and won't take this as an acceptable answer. gah

clients are emailing left right and centre.

wreck i can beat your emails - i started with 76 in my inbox to read/deal with and ended up with 165. 21 of which are unread (but i think they're payments) so those can wait for tomorrow.

cath there is no way i'd be at work on Christmas. absolutely not. In my old job (the one i left for this one), we were frequently told we weren't working hard enough. and that to get promoted we had to stay late. you lose the work life balance. and if I'm honest, it wasn't for me. i couldn't cope with the pressure. i realised something was a bit wrong when i was the only one in the office at 10pm one new years eve. waiting for a transaction to be finalised. thats what i hated about law (especially commercial funds/corporate real estate stuff - that was my area) its expected you stay until the job is done.

when i interviewed for this job, i made it very clear what i wanted - pay increase, flex flex hours (as in i can work from home but not on a regular basis - so if i need a day i can have one - i tend to do a day a month at home), and a nice working environment. i got all 3. 18 months in and i'm generally happy. a lot of law colleagues thought i was ruining my career taking this step, but actually, being on the other side has worked out for me. and for work. they can utilise my legal expertise, but I'm not held responsible - as am non practising so although i am qualified to advise, i can't and don't. and i can have the work life balance i wanted. (and get to wear cute outfits every day! - no more suits - unless its for important clients!)

spends today £12 on having my bracelet cleaned and mended. £4 on soup, sandwich and a drink.

garlic chili brocoli stir fry for dinner. with noodles. yum.

i am so happy it's friday tomorrow its been a looooong week - and i have along weekend! !

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/11/2016 18:59

Being a nurse means working Christmas and bank holidays comes with the territory Sad not working Christmas day this year but I am working all the bank holidays and new year Shock will be nice on pay day though! The most depressing Christmas I ever had was when I was newly qualified and had to work a late shift on the wards all my family were 70 miles away having a lovely day Sad this was pre dd though.

Dd has suddenly got much better at times tables and I think it is having a little poster by her bed with them all on, she says she looks at it every night before going to sleep.

Have emailed someone re the radiators.

SnugglySnerd · 03/11/2016 19:04

Ugh! It's been a long day. Am tired and aching to my bones!
Good news though, got money from pet insurance.
Going to catch up on thread now.

apivita · 03/11/2016 19:24

I actually left London on the 4.50 train! There was a fire alarm that went off at work and I hung around for a bit, but then decided to bugger off. I had done enough today, including a much coveted interview with a reputable newspaper. :) £5 on lunch, £20 on train.

I'm actually sat infront of the tv. Now. Have had my bath. Have has dinner. Yay!

Tomorrow another day in London. A meeting and then taking my son to gosh for his annual check.

Have a great weekend!

allthebestplease · 03/11/2016 19:31

wreck re the Santa tickets, I was thinking I just use your dc names, they're not going to know or check id are they.

WreckTangled · 03/11/2016 19:38

No but I think Santa knows their names when they go in. I can't remember if I had to write in their best friends names or if that was a different Santa I've booked BlushGrin

WreckTangled · 03/11/2016 19:42

I've emailed them to ask

allthebestplease · 03/11/2016 19:44

Ok cool, I get my dc to lie (Santa will understand).
