I always buy the teacher things that they can use with their own class, like story books or art materials. They seem to like that. I know I would, as a home ed enthusiast.

Collie, if you went to hospital, they would probably only increase your current asthma medication anyway initially, so you are probably safe for one or two more puffs.

Genie Skinny jeans would work with those boots. You are tall and slim no? So skinny jeans would suit you anyway.

Lovely nails Creme.

Good news about the baby Italian.

I've skim read the last page as it's been busy here and I haven't fully caught up.

Spends.
£15 clipping pony.
£10 lesson for DD.
£40 Aldi.
£20 Amazon.

Ran 9.5 miles last night as met a guy from the club and we did 3 before meeting for the club run.

Today will be £5 Boxercise.

SnugglySnerd · 27/10/2016 09:18

The seeds are delicious, Girlie. Just salted them this time, going to do cinnamon ones next time.
I'm a teacher, Wreck, I'd much prefer that to soap/chocolate!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/10/2016 09:19

Blimey need you have well and truly been bitten by the fitness bug!! Make me feel tired just reading about all that exercise Grin

We didn't have the best of nights here as dds cough is worse Sad such a shame that she has been ill for most of half term! Going to see the Dr later (well actually a nurse practitioner as apparently that will be fine Hmm) am sure its just a cough/cold but given the year we have had would rather have it checked!

Really hoping she will be o.kay for London tomorrow but won't go if she isn't 100% as don't want to make her worse but will lose so much money on train and exhibition tickets Sad oh well hopefully she will pick up today.

WreckTangled · 27/10/2016 09:25

Thanks everyone!

girlie our NP at work is amazing. She's a partner, she specialises in asthma and COPD (plus all other nursey stuff) and has longer appointments than the GP for minor ills (20 mins as opposed to 5 mins).

NeversellahouseCollie · 27/10/2016 09:51

Arghhh I just lost a big post :(

girlie I second what Wreck says. Our nurse is brilliant with anything chesty / coughs / asthma etc.

Would a hot steamy bath work for DD? Run the bath and shower at the same time, turn off the shower, step in to the bath and inhale. It helps me and DS loads. Also dry central heating air can irritate the airways so a damp towel in her room may benefit her too. Hope she's OK. Honey may help too :) BrewCake

It must be so worrying after she was hospitalised with flu :( xx

AGenie · 27/10/2016 10:00

Thanks for the thoughts on the boots. Unfortunately, I don't think wearing them outside trousers would look right on me. I'll have another think.

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 27/10/2016 10:12

No I definitely think you need to be careful in your DD's case girlie The steamy bath helped DS loads when he had croup as a child, with some Albas oil in if it helps. Towels on radiators, bowl of steaming water in room etc.

I'm actually only getting back what I used to have with the running. It's actually now I'm returning to regular running and fitness that I fully realise what it gave me mentally. I'm like a different person when I can run. It was a big part of my social life, my sense of identity, my confidence, my sense of 'me', iyswim? I'm not one to dwell or get too down as you probably know, so I did just got on with stuff when I couldn't run (after seeing every consultant going desperate to find an answer!!), but I definitely wasn't quite the same person. I'm all energetic and buzzy now!!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/10/2016 11:10

Yes sorry that probably sounded a bit snotty about the NP which isn't what I meant really, its just I know her and used to work with her so don't consider her anymore qualified than me Blush although she probably is! That said am pretty confident dd is fine, she has her friend here and they are happily chatting up in her room so will go expecting to be told to ride it out with calpol and rest.

Need yes can imagine it must feel great to be that fit, one of my best friends is similar to you and has just started running again. It seems to have given her the bug as she is now signing up for half marathons and all sorts! My problem is I have such a long way to go before it would be enjoyable its hard to get the motivation. Albas oil in the bath is a good idea for dd will pick some up today thanks Smile

Collie yes will also try steaming her! It is a worry as brings back so many bad memories and feelings. Dd must have been thinking about it as well as she was talking a lot about when she was in hospital ystd. I didn't think she could remember much from the time she was in PICU but she mentioned the baby coughing in the bed next to hers (whooping cough) so obviously does remember some of it Sad

Genie if you are tall/slim I can't see how it wouldn't look right, sometimes you have to try it and see. I was like that about skinny jeans/ leggings for ages but actually when I tried them on was surprised at how nice it looked!

So my rejigged plan for today is to take the girls to the local museum, maybe lunch somewhere and then take dd to see the NP, home for a play maybe dvd.....

WreckTangled · 27/10/2016 12:07

We've come to the beach. It was so foggy but is brightening up now. We parked on a side road so it was free and we bought hot chocolate in a flask. We're now in the arcades and will go to the fun fair before going to the harvester for lunch. Perfect day!

The Friendly Frugaleers, saving and chatting as autumn arrives
AGenie · 27/10/2016 13:06

Girlie I know just what you mean about the memories from hospital visits and worry about that happening again. I hope you get a chance for your dd to recover well and be back on her feet. We're in the same boat as the GP is refusing to let ds have the occasional afternoons off that he needs to stay healthy now. I'm blazing mad quite irritated about it.

About the boots - I know what you mean about boots looking nice over trousers, but I'm honestly too straight-laced to do it. Smile I'm not sure how to explain that.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 27/10/2016 13:16

I wear converse high tops and knee high boots over jeans. I only own supper skinny jeans though.

isthatmorelego · 27/10/2016 13:53

Collie sorry not read all way through but when we moved we went to farm foods we are in Wales so don't know if they are near you they were more than happy to give boxes I hated the thought of paying for cardboard

AGenie · 27/10/2016 14:44

We've been and had ds's second Men B vaccine. I'm always glad to get meningitis vaccines onboard.

Is anybody else finding themselves tempted by Christmas displays? I find it weird because I'm so tempted now, but I know that come boxing day, I won't want any of those things.

I found good Christmas crackers with children's toys in them in M&S today. 12 for £10, so that's four years worth for us.

OP posts:
NeversellahouseCollie · 27/10/2016 15:02

Thanks for the tip morelego could do with a couple more big ones!

girlie the whole hospital experience sounds traumatic. Don't blame you for worrying at all Flowers hope she's alright.

AGenie · 27/10/2016 15:05

A really odd thing has happened in our street. A new family have moved in and they are getting really stressed because they have two large cars that they need to be able to park several times a day at home as they buzz around picking up kids and doing home visit for work and stuff.

However, it's impossible to park here during office hours as the city commuters use our street for free parking and there's nothing we can do about it.

It makes me realise how important it is to ask a lot of questions before buying a house, as they've effectively just blown about 25k on stamp duty buying a house that doesn't meet their needs at all.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 27/10/2016 16:37

Yes it's definitely not just about the house is it. Lots of other stuff to consider.

Rubbish day here as knocked sideways by period pain etc. Grumpy Caglets were appeased by a 3D puzzle we were given to review (hoping it will lead to being picked as a 'VIP reviewer' which means more freebies in the future). Done sod all else today though :o

I do find that in my grumpiness I am more tempted than usual to hit amazon... I haven't spent my pocket money for a while so I'm sensing a purchase brewing :o Blush

Cagliostro · 27/10/2016 16:41

We did have a really lovely LSD though - just cost bus fare to get to a friend's house where the kids played and the grown ups played board games. Can't reciprocate as our house is tiny (so no way the kids can just roam around upstairs) but I'm going to suggest if we do it again we bring the food/drink.

AGenie · 27/10/2016 16:42

I know the feeling Cag. Where I come from, people say that money is burning a hole in their pocket.

I'm so glad to have sold that scanner as that was a really cheeky one. I didn't even discuss it with dh before buying. Very glad to have got most of the money back.

OP posts:
CremeEggThief · 27/10/2016 16:44

It doesn't sound as they researched the neighbourhood properly, Genie.

Hope your DD is well enough for the trip tomorrow, Girlie.

NSD.

Needastrongone · 27/10/2016 16:49

Lovely picture wrecked.

How's your DD girlie?

Gosh, is their house worth £700k Genie? That's a big buck house to not ask questions!

I didn't know that I was so out there with my skinny jeans tucked into my ankle boots, wrecked, you are positively raunchy with knee highs!! I wear ankle boots and mini skirts too. Don't put constraints on yourself Genie, women have enough put on them by society to do it to themselves. Bet you would look great Smile

£10 lesson.
£10.50 pony feed.

I love the pony today as he did a great lesson with DD. Jumping from a tn angle rather than straight and flatwork.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/10/2016 17:04

She is not too bad thanks need we saw the nurse practitioner who said she could hear slight crackles on her chest but nothing obvious on the throat so has given me a px for antibiotics if she doesn't improve in next few days. Not sure what to do about tomos tbh, will see how she goes tonight I think, she isn't too bad in herself.

Had a nice day, dds friend still here and we went to the local museum which was free spent £3 parking, £1 on a trail they wanted to do, £5 on drinks and chocolate so a frugal afternoon out really.

WreckTangled · 27/10/2016 17:07

They are flat boots need as I can't walk in heels plus I find boots support my ankles Smile

In fact this is what I wore to work the other day and these are the boots I wear with skinny jeans. They're so comfy.

The Friendly Frugaleers, saving and chatting as autumn arrives
WreckTangled · 27/10/2016 17:08

I find mine go down hill in the evening girlie so if she's ok tonight maybe she'll be ok?

NeversellahouseCollie · 27/10/2016 17:13

£700k for a house with no off road parking. And they didn't even check the area? Grin bless!!
