Lilac - so refreshing to hear about someone else's temptations. I get tempted like that so much. Do you think you will do it?

My current temptation is some birthday money and there are a few really exciting things that I could do with it. Much head scratching.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 07/07/2016 08:09

I'm hoping today will be a NSD. I'm going to start challenging myself to how many I can aim for.

I should hopefully find out whether I was successful today re job interview. I'm trying to remain positive. I'd really love the office I currently worked from however if it means another I will have to have a think about it and see if it's plausible. At the moment the office is 0.5 miles away from home. If anywhere else, it obviously means a lot more travel.

I've got so many things I need to do.

  • Update my tax creds.
  • Wash my car.
  • Clean inside my car.
  • Make a dummy sweet cone with the bits I picked up yesterday. And work out prices. I'm off to the local cash and carry on Saturday and will buy the sweets there.

Whatever I do not use, I'm going to turn it into a 'tuck shop' for my DS. My dad did this when we were little. We would spend our pocket money in the 'tuck shop' he set up and it taught us a lot about money, change etc. (Any money made went back into the tuck shop fund. It was just for fun).

Memories like these make me realise I miss my dad and his crazy ideas. He died when I was 8. His death still affects me. He committed suicide and I still can't get my head around it. He was a brilliant person and I aspire to be just like him.

needastrongone · 07/07/2016 08:57

Not good about the shoes Audit.

I've just Googled the skinnies from M&S and am most impressed Smile Although, is there a difference in fit between the jeggings and jeans, I have never got on with jeggings in the past?

I am sorry about your dad Don't, fingers crossed for the job.

Car sounds exciting lilac.

In the house today, so looking to spend as little as possible, unless I nip to Aldi and get my bits today rather than tomorrow.

ItalianWiking84 · 07/07/2016 10:02

Spends 2,5£ on chocolate oops and 1£ on milk

northender · 07/07/2016 10:24

Sent dh to aldi £40 spent.
Spent some of yesterday updating and amending our budget spreadsheets allowing for the extra borrowing we're taking out for the loft.
Meal plan:
Thurs: Sausages, potatoes & veg
Fri: Burgers at cricket nets
Sat: dinner at my parents
Sun: chicken, chorizo Tray bake
Mon: lasagne
Tues: ham salad

ipsogenix · 07/07/2016 11:04

I just went to a school concert and saw ds playing the piano on stage. Very exciting. We've now made it to the school trip, the school sports day, and the school concert. This business of having occasional afternoons off to regroup is really working out very well.

Haven't bought anything daft yet today. Score!

Badders123 · 07/07/2016 11:18

Spent £15 in next on new school stuff but should have been £40 - I had a £25 voucher Smile

lilacclery · 07/07/2016 12:19

Been so busy at work can't catch up with ye Angry

Ememem84 · 07/07/2016 13:20

Happy sunny day guys!!!

Got into work today and my Portuguese colleague had brought in Portuguese custard tarts. Delicious. I may have had 2

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2016 13:49

Yum, EmEnvy Was that to celebrate Portugal's win last night? My granny was Portuguese and an amazing cook.

Ipso, your little boy is a Star. Were your eyes a bit teary watching him? There's nothing like the pride in watching your primary aged children perform.

Today is an NSD. I've cleaned my oven, fridge, microwave and draining rack and board this morning, so I'm now chilling, watching Wimbledon for the rest of the day. Yesterday was reasonably spendy, but all worth it. £7.80 bus fare, £3.90 latte and cake, £1.49 Co-op and £10 on a meal out with a friend. I had mixed mezze with bread and a spritzer, followed by baklava and a latte. Delicious!

Lilac, don't feel guilty about the car. If you can afford it, go for it, as it sounds more efficient, so it might even save money in the long run?

Slopes off to google purple skinnies Smile.

ipsogenix · 07/07/2016 14:53

Creme we were pretty proud, yes. I was more zombled with tiredness than teary, but the principle was there. :-)

It's been an interesting day today. We got a lovely card back from the Queen, having sent her a 90th birthday card. Ds was very excited about that.

Now we have received a free Wimbledon box with our tesco delivery. It has a big box of strawberries, some crumpets, a tub of cream and a bottle of elderflower cordial in it. It's going to be quite a day chez Ipsos today, when ds comes home.

I'm so tired I could sleep for a year. I wonder if all EU migrant families are a bit knackered this week? It's been a very concentrating kind of week.

This is our exciting wimbledon box. Smile It makes me feel a lot better about the "GO away foreigners vote" last week. Lovely kind thought from Tesco and makes me feel welcome here again.

WreckTangled · 07/07/2016 16:56

Yes fluffy. And Dh says 'well it doesn't matter we don't need it for anything until food shopping Saturday' as if that's the point?!

WreckTangled · 07/07/2016 16:57

Oh and it's not a nsd here. I've spent loads. I had to borrow from the children's savings. I've really got to buck my ideas up. Ffs. At least it wasn't a credit card I suppose, I'm going to get in lots of overtime in the summer holidays to make up for it.

Canklesofglitter · 07/07/2016 16:58

Potentially spendy day here - we just offered on a house! Not heard back yet. We've offered 94% of the asking price and we're chain free so cautiously hopeful. We weren't going to buy but this would still leave us with 12 months funds in the bank and DH is now looking for work outside his main field so we should be ok (hopes hard).

NSD otherwise (third one this month).

ipsogenix · 07/07/2016 17:14

Sorry to hear that Wreck. It sounds as if the person who was meant to be paying you needs to get things sorted there.

I was really surprised today to see a very poor lady in our school seems to have popped out another baby without ever having looked more than about 3 months pregnant. She's very masculine, and always shouting at her four children in a loud cockney accent. She looks as though she hasn't tuppence to rub together, but she clearly has a heck of a skill at producing babies. I felt a bit envious really, but I think her life must be hard. Isn't it weird how some people can manage to produce oodles of babies, and some spend their whole adult life wishing they might just have been granted one? I struggle to sort out the logic of it in my head.

Badders123 · 07/07/2016 17:16

Flying ant infestation Sad
So ££ on any traps and ant powder Sad

Canklesofglitter · 07/07/2016 17:33

Ipsogenix that conundrum is hard indeed. One of my dearest friends from university has spent the best part of £20k on fertility treatment and years of effort without success. They would be the most amazing and wonderful parents. And then there are evil people who kick a child so hard that his heart actually ruptures. My head hurts when I think about the wrongness of it.

Badders urgh ants are horrible. Hope they go away quickly.

needastrongone · 07/07/2016 18:06

Glad you are feeling a bit better North.

Eurgghhhh ants Badders, not good.

Good luck for the house Cankles, exciting times!

Lovely that your DS played piano Ipsos, and you got there and watched, and he coped with it all. Life sure is a box of chocolates, as Forest Gump wisely said Smile

Lovely clothes Italian.

Wreck That's really beyond crap, it's so totally not on. We would never ever not pay our guys on the day they expect their wages. It's morally not acceptable. You are right, it's totally not the point at all.

£6 on getting the car washed, £1 on a tip.

Done loads today and am really chuffed with myself.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 07/07/2016 18:41

I've been offered a job. I don't feel excited.

I'm stressed over organising a last minute hen do which is not fun. I wish I'd never bothered. It's looming over me like a very heavy cloud. It's in two weeks time. I want to curl up in a ball and sleep until August.

I ended up going for lunch with a friend to get things off my chest. £10 spent for meal and drinks. It was definitely worth it to get out the house.

AuditAngel · 07/07/2016 19:01

Wreck one time my company had one batch of wages payments fail. I was one of the people included. To make it worse, it was over an Easter weekend.

That was in the pre children days when I had money left every month, so I could still cover my mortgage and everything. My company offered to cover any late fees/charges or interest that was incurred.
