Oooooh
London people!!!
Smile

Sadly I live in the Arse end of nowhere Sad but could go with some tips/advice re ds2s b day trip to London in September...TofL is on our list! As is the aquarium. As is seeing the lion king Confused
Are there any good ways to get cheap tix? (That's an amazing price for TofL cag! - I home schooled ds1 for a year some years ago!)

Cagliostro · 02/07/2016 16:46

Hi Badders [home ed high five] :o I wish I knew, re: tickets, we haven't been to anything in the west end since before DCs. I'm sure there are discounts available for the aquarium though, are they maybe included on those 2for1 or kids go free type offers I keep seeing on cereal packets and that type of thing? Also this may be worth a look www.daysoutguide.co.uk/2for1-london :)

WreckTangled · 02/07/2016 16:55

Badders cheapest tickets I've seen are on the Royal Shakespeare theatre website.

Spent loads today. Too ashamed to say how much. I blame the prosecco.

Badders123 · 02/07/2016 17:52

Ooh great thanks!

WreckTangled · 02/07/2016 18:23

Honestly I spent hours researching for Matilda tickets and not only were they the cheapest but they had the best seats in that price range. No booking fee either.

Badders123 · 02/07/2016 18:38

Wow, thanks, would never have thought of looking there!
Have wanted to take the kids for years but its soooo expensive Sad
However, we will get a "free" hotel room for the weekend as dh will us his points (travels a lot for work)
So it's just petrol and spending money Smile

Ememem84 · 02/07/2016 18:55

Glad the Internet is sorted, and didn't cost you ££s Cag

I'll be using those links as DDs want a trip to London for their birthday next month. 15 years old Shock how the hell that happen Confused ?

£13.20 on veg and fruit for most of the week. DH spent money on plants and then lunch, his choice, his bank account Grin I took out money for school dinners, £15, one child refuses to eat what they have to offer.

CremeEggThief · 02/07/2016 19:13

£1.90 bus fare and £20.89 top up at the Co-op, to keep us going until my Sainsburys delivery comes on Thursday evening. We managed to get by without a main shop last week too.

Meal Plan
Tonight: pizza
Tomorrow: Quorn fillet with vegetable rice, green beans and corn.
Monday: omelette and salad.
Tuesday: tofu and veggie stir fry and noodles.
Wednesday: dinner out with a friend and pizza for DS.

Star2015 · 02/07/2016 19:17

Hi all,

Haven't been to London for ages... Matilda is meant to be amazing., I'd also like to go and see Aladdin being a WDW lover.

Spent £55 in Lidl today, thT was our weekly shop and included all bits and bobs for breakfast, lunch and dinner for this week (although I'm out with work on Thursday evening)... We got 2 lamb shanks (reduced to £2.29 each they have gone in the freezer) as well as chicken and pork plus fresh veg so pleased with that.

We went window shopping to Next and Homesense looking for ideas for our new home.. And managed not to spend a penny 😀

Tomorrow should be a NSD as DH working tomorrow morning so I'm planning a lie in (planned the same today but still up at 6.30am) and I'm going to make chicken and mushroom pie for lunch.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend all!

WreckTangled · 02/07/2016 19:22

Star I saw Aladdin on Broadway and it's amazing! Definitely go if you can.

I love London Smile I feel lucky we're so close to it too can easily go for a day trip.

I bought some new trainers. I can't afford them. I have to take them back but I love them Sad

Sierra259 · 02/07/2016 19:24

Could I join please? Currently on mat leave with DC2 and have just dropped to SMP only Confused. Going to have to be very careful with the pennies for the next 6 months until I go back to work, so a thread like this would be good to help me focus!

AdoraBell · 02/07/2016 19:30

Welcome Sierra

Ememem84 · 02/07/2016 19:45

Matilda is amazing. Dh took me for our first anniversary. It made me cry actual tears. So beautiful.

Welcome SierraSmile.

Wreck, could you cut back on a few other things to justify the trainers, if you love them so much? Maybe you need them for your spinning class!Smile

Ememem84 · 02/07/2016 19:58

wreck I agree with creme. Surely you need them for spinning?

Dh has made humous for dinner. Yum. And babaganoush. Not so yum.

WreckTangled · 02/07/2016 20:45

They're silver supergra's so no good for spinning Grin have nothing to cut back on unfortunately. So annoying as I had birthday money a couple of weeks ago but had to spend it on food shopping Hmm

Badders123 · 02/07/2016 20:54

Oh wreck I hate it when that happens...have lost count of the amount of b day money I've spent on the kids or food Sad

babsmam · 02/07/2016 21:23

Ended up having an impromptu day at an English heritage castle with good friends. Just what I needed after this shitty week. £44 in ikea. Ruled out their dining table. Need to save for expensive one.

Hi Sierra

Ah Kate. Have you been through your spends, checked your utilities, and hot as much debt on 0% as you can. Do you want to talk through it with us to help.

Oh dear wreck that's pants.

Ursulatodd · 02/07/2016 22:21

I've been checking out English Heritage today as we get free entry with CSSC (civil service sports) - any recommendations? And thanks for the 241 tip - lots of great ideas on there.

I've also been checking out the MN camping pages for some recommended sites.

£3.50 today on bus.

Sierra259 · 02/07/2016 22:34

They're doing 241's on multipacks of Freddo chocolates at the moment. Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Warwick Castle, Sealife centres and a couple of others I can't remember.

Cagliostro · 02/07/2016 23:13

today:
bus £5.50
coop £2.07

Need to sort out bus passes as I let them lapse. But not sure what to do about getting DS one, as the discount card scheme is being scrapped. Despite them doing a consultation and 95% of responses saying it should be kept. :( Not sure when it's stopping though so not sure if it's worth paying £50 to get him one (it lasts for 3 years normally, but DD's was free as we were on FSM at the time she became old enough for it).

ipsogenix · 03/07/2016 01:46

Ursula I love your comment about how you worry that your girls will be ultra clean living. I am like that and I equally worry that I won't understand my ds, or more likely that he will grow up like me and that no one will understand him. Smile

Congratulations Italian

KateSpade I also buy things to make myself feel better, it definitely is a bit of a cycle. You are in the right place here. Have you watched the tutorials on the YNAB software site? I found them a great starting point.

Unescorted Did your child also quite like the school bookworm? I'd not like to think that you befriended him just to get his clothes. Smile

Welcome back Cag!

So sorry to hear about your birthday money Wreck. You're a stellar Mum.

babsmam · 03/07/2016 07:11

Ursula mine is through cssc. I find it's not as good as NT. Always take food and drink as there is rarely a tea shop. Good for piles of rock to climbs on. We have only done a few in the north east/Northumberland though. Our friends joined so we will most likely do more this year.
Nsd planned. Need to get ds feet measured as haven't done it in a while and he is complaining shoes hurt him

Badders123 · 03/07/2016 07:38

Our NT membership runs out at end of July - so it will cover is for this holiday.
We probably won't join again til next Easter/spring
It's ALWAYS cheaper to join at an actual NT place rather than online btw!
I have been saving the 241 vouchers on my sons chocolate packs Smile
We hope to go to sea life centre at Scarborough this holiday and perhaps somewhere else over the summer..
Must get some washing out - it's sunny here!!Shock
Going to pils for lunch
Then dh is away in China for work all next week Sad
Have a good day everyone
