Yesterday I finally ordered DS invites and some other stuff for his party. I also ordered my graduation photos.

My friend came round who's been having s hard time. We went for a walk and ended up eating at McDs. This was my first proper walk out since my op and thought I'd treat myself. I then fell asleep at half 7 and slept all the way through.

DS recieved party invite from his 'best' friend. He then proceeds to tell me that said friend told him his party will be better than DS so he got a bit upset. I hate childish drama. It makes me feel a bit under pressure. I hate competitiveness and all that jazz. I won't rise to it.

My daily dressings have now reduced to once daily and I'm starting to go clinic rather than home dressings next week. Woohoo. I feel so vulnerable in my own home.

After payday on Wednesday my bank felt healthy. Today alot of my direct debits have come out and it doesn't feel as healthy. Grr, can't have it all though.

My mum's said whilst I'm not working I don't have to do a every other week shop I usually do. Saves me a bit of money I suppose.

Today I've got a few things I want to do.

  • Sort out my dressings box and organise it. I hate mess and lots of boxes so going to throw lots of it in the recycle bin ha ha.
  • Sort out my paperwork I have stashed in the corner.
  • Put together a file with things related to my old job.

I don't know if some of you remember a few months back what happened with my job. However I've met a lady who's lead union rep and we're going to meet and discuss things and what happened and maybe take it further. All I want is an explanation and apology.

I have a job interview next week for where I want to work (and where I initially had an offer) . Hopefully this be my silver lining and all that.

40£ in building market for dh to paint and make the last up do for the storage/entrance room.
Got 6 different baby boxes full of samples and stuff so we now have some baby nappies for the start, dummy's evt. The wipes will just be used for dd now.
We have talked about the name Carolina Sophia for baby dd.

CremeEggThief · 01/07/2016 14:11

Hope they have a brilliant time, Need. I still remember my prom (Grad or Debs, as they are called in Ireland). We all left the hotel about midnight and took taxis out to the beach, on a rainy night, for more drinking and smoking. Some people were pissed enough to go in the sea, but not me. Then we got taxis back into town and home about 4 a.m. A great night! Is it because you live rurally that you have to stay up to collect?

Carolina Sophia flows well, Italian. Lovely name.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/07/2016 17:40

Lots people leaving or retiring at work so loads collections being careful who I donate too but sadly a lot of them I have worked with for past 10yrs so have paid up :)

Co-op pizza meal deal for dinner although has become a Fri night treat and we never eat all wedges so getting a stash of them in freezer.

AdoraBell · 01/07/2016 17:49

11 pound groceries for weekend, I will get veg etc from a market stall tomorrow, and 16 pound in Holland & Barrat on milled seeds and healthy snacks for me and DD1. She's on a pre holiday health kick.

needastrongone · 01/07/2016 17:54

Carolina Sophia is absolutely beautiful Italian.

The after prom party is allowed to have alcohol Creme, not the prom, which is at school (the school site has been there since the 1500's, the buildings are lovely, like Hogwarts, perfect for a prom!). DS isn't much of a drinker, but will have the odd cider, so I am sending him with 3 small tins of Coppaberg fruit cider, think that's acceptable at nearly 17? He can give his mates one if required.

Had a lovely day catching up in the house. I needed the space to get ahead of myself again. Last weekend away for 2 weeks, can't wait!

Todays spends were £30 in Aldi (food for the weekend) and I got some cashback.

Plus, £52 in Boots. Really chuffed with this, I spent £30 on a bottle of perfume for my nieces 30th, but that had £12 off. I then got my friends birthday present (candle and diffuser), some deodorant for DS, and sanitary stuff for DD, hair gels ect. Total was £57, but had a couple of vouchers, so got an extra 10% off, and then another £5 worth of Advantage points on my card. Plus, if I spent £50, you got a massive 'beauty box', worth £50, with sun lotion, hair products, body lotion, eye liner, face serum, etc.

Ememem84 · 01/07/2016 18:08

Spends today £8 in "tesco" pea and mint tortellini, crisps, ice cream bread and milk.

Boss bought me a donut today. Apparently I looked stressed.

Good news! Dh got a promotion Payrise and a chunky bonus which will make a nice addition to the house fund. Smile so proud of him. He's worked to hard.

Badders123 · 01/07/2016 18:37

£25 today for lunch with my sil who I might not see now til she has my new neice/nephew Smile
Got paid yesterday so treated myself to some lush bath bombs and a new notebook (£23 for both)
This means I have nothing to spend in July Shock
Must try and be more frugal next month!!!

Star2015 · 01/07/2016 18:42

NSD so far although I'm trying to convince DH to go shopping tonight to Lidl to do our weekly shop so we can have a lazy weekend and not leave the house or the sofa

Ememem sorry it made me chuckle about your boss buying you a doughnut as you looked stressed.. Hope you're not. Good news for your DH well done him!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Badders123 · 01/07/2016 18:47

Dh did the grocery shop last night but no idea what he spent
Dh away with work againSad on Monday so I've got a grocery order scheduled for Thursday (£90)

Ememem84 · 01/07/2016 19:10

No I wasn't stressed. Busy. But not stressed. Until he gave me the donut and ruined my day by telling me something we've been doing for the last year is wrong.

I started a new clothes bank style thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/credit_crunch/2675741-NEW-Clothes-bank-style-thread

CremeEggThief · 01/07/2016 20:21

Congratulations to your DH, Em and hoped you enjoyed the doughnut.

Eminently sensible, Need. At that age at ours, we were on double vodkas and wine with the dinner in the hotel. I think in a lot of ways teenagers are more moderate these days, which can only be a good thing. For example, most of the people I knew who started smoking growing up started at 12 or 13 (I even know a few who started at 10Sad), but I rarely see anyone who looks under 17 smoking nowadays and I live in a deprived area with historically high rates of smoking.

Just came back from an early dinner/ pub meal with my friend. I had a veggie lasagna with 2 slices of garlic bread and side salad, which was ok, and a massive red velvet and white chocolate cheesecake, which was delicious, and a spritzer. I paid for both of us on my card, which was £27.20 and my friend gave me £15 in cash, £3 of which I gave to the waitress as a tip, as they couldn't accept tips by card.

babsmam · 01/07/2016 20:40

Sounds very sensible need. The prom sounds good fun.
Em sorry to hear about work not being right. You sound like you have a thoughtful boss though.
Girlie, yeah home owner.
Lovely name Italian.
I remember the job thing don't, good luck with the union.
Need to get some food this weekend. Nsd today. Went looking for a specific plant but out of stock locally. May need to visit another garden centre or do it on line.
Also sorting a photo, photo book and frame x 2. Also £40 fa fees for footie

northender · 01/07/2016 21:18

Just popping in to say I haven't forgotten the thread, just life has been so busy I haven't been managing to post for a good few days. I'll try and catch up over the weekend and post properly at some point. Have a good weekend everyone x

ipsogenix · 01/07/2016 22:32

Need It's all very strange on all fronts. I remember how nasty the Conservatives were last time their party exploded. It must be a very odd life to live among them.

I'm frugaleering away here. I tried ordering some clothes from TKMaxx for collection instore, but that didn't go very well. The waterproof trousers turned out not to be waterproof and the ladies' shoes turned out to be men's shoes. :-)

Tryingtosaveup · 01/07/2016 22:44

I love the baby name Italian. I think it sounds very elegant. The two names go well together and sound international
Em, congrats to your DH. You sound well pleased.
NSD here. Still getting over the price of two tyres and discs for my front brakes😔

Ursulatodd · 01/07/2016 22:51

Jumping back in for July! Reading avidly and have written down spends for today so will update tmrw x

blueteapot · 01/07/2016 22:59

A spendy day. £29.50 on a dress for a wedding this weekend (50% off in monsoon), £5 on tights, £11 on some xmas toys reduced in debenhams, £19.50 on part of wedding gift, £18 in M&S, £21 on lunch, £11 on takeaway, £4 on parking... £9.50 on wrapping stuff / card but used a gift card. Oh and £17 in clarks as DSs feet have grown again lol

Not doing too well at this money saving lark. If anyone is looking to start gathering up for xmas debenhams have a lot of toys and bits 70% off at the min. Am I allowed to say xmas in July?

Off for a nosy back through now with a glass of wine

ipsogenix · 01/07/2016 23:11

I've just done my numbers for the month and figured out that I was a bit over-optimistic thinking I had space in the budget to buy a garden shredder. Ooops. However, I sold our old lawnmower for more than the shredder cost, so I'm going to write off the lawnmower money and make sure not to get any funny ideas about spending it on anything else. Must try harder next month.

babsmam · 02/07/2016 07:15

Sorry em's dh, congratulations

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 02/07/2016 07:23

Morning!

I'm so tired this morning but I woke around half 6 and my body wouldn't let me back to sleep.

Last night I went to a bar for someone's leaving drinks. I took cash out with me and when I got there realised it was a posh cocktail bar lol. I've never really been a cocktail person (not ones which look posh anyway). I'm not fond of alcohol anyway and rarely ever drink it. But I felt under pressure because everyone was sat there with fancy cocktails lol. So I just went ahead and bought one to look normal.. £7.45 eek. But then the nice bar man told me it was two for one. So I ended up with two cocktails. I had no idea what any of them had in so I just asked for random ones. They were nice but I drank them on an empty stomach, woops. Felt a bit floaty at end of it. So it wasn't too bad on the grand scheme of things. And I enjoyed meeting up with people and socialising in what feels like first time in forever.

Today my DS has a party to attend. Ive not bought a present so will stick a tenner in the card (frugal fail). Sometimes I think it's easier this way so the child can pick what they'd like rather than end up with alot of unwanted things. He's a good friend of DS so I don't mind.

I will most likely get myself a coffee whilst I'm there.

Afterwards my DS friend coming for couple hours. Then I'm going to have a big nap.

I'm attempting a night shift tonight where I get enhanced hours. I need to balance out earnings I've lost being off sick. I'll see how I go after tonight. Tomorrow DS goes to his dad's so I can sleep during day.

Apart from that I'm hoping to have a chill out day. Hope you all have a lovely day. I'll pop in later.

Ememem84 · 02/07/2016 07:30

Thanks guys. Super pleased for Dh he's worked so bloody hard it's lovely that it's a) been recognised and b) been rewarded.

He was out last night with his colleagues. Apparently they weren't happy with their bonuses/payrises. So a lot of doom and gloom talk went on.

He came back and told me he's spending the "odd" amount of the bonus on our anniversary dinner. Wedding usually go out for anniversaries but this year, we're going to the yummy steak place. For steaks duh home made chippys, garlicky squeaky french beans and a lovely bottle of red. Cannot wait. But have to wait until the end of the month. Smile

Riding lesson today, have to pick up a parcel from post office and then have to get some washing done.

May need to look at new washing machines. Sigh. It's still making a noise similar to a plane when it spins. The repair guy can't come for another week. And we're not even sure if it can be repaired.

Will be making trips to my parents today to borrow their machine.

Congrats em dh Flowers
Today I need some groceries and we are going to flea market to support a young lady from the village who have terminal cancer so they are collecting to try treatment abroad
Had dinners at my parents yesterday and there were enough left overs for both dd and me, so easy dinner tonight. Dh is a chef and is working this weeking...

Unescorted · 02/07/2016 08:41

Morning all - DD & I are at home alone without a car. The boys are in Wales competing in the first edition of the World Tussock Racing Championship.

Em great news for your dh. not so on the washing machine. Have a look in the pump * motor for stray coins.

Need you are right about young kids not being so quick to be out drinking and smoking. My DD is really anti both. Maybe they are doing it to rebel against the generation that had it all and did even more.
