£100 in Lidl last night. Oh yes, you can spend that much. I well and trully stocked up.
£5 for an exercise class today.
I plan to also go for a run, wash the car and tidy the house a bit. I am working tomorrow.

Ememem84 · 06/05/2016 07:31

High tide last night. We sat and watched the waves smash against and over the sea wall with a couple of beers and some crisps classy

Today Dh is off as well. So we're off for bacon rolls in a bit. Apparently it's going to hit 25 degrees here today!! I heart my lovely island.

My boss text me yesterday afternoon. Asking me to go in to work. My first question was whether he was serious or just messing he has form for this he was just joking. I've reminded him about the boy who cried wolf.

Won't be nsd today but should be LSD. Should only be bacon rolls and coffee.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 06/05/2016 07:33

Today should be a NSD apart from the usual expense for DS activity.

I'm working 9-3. Will pick DS up. Make him a light tea (probs scrambled egg). Take him to ice skating and his off ice class (1 hour) then maybe just chill out and relax.

needastrongone · 06/05/2016 09:04

I have spend nearly £100 before 8, it can be done!

Hope you enjoy your shift Don't.

Yep, it sucks when the weather in amazing and you have to work babs.

Spends last night was £20, 2 lots of training fee and a brow band in the team colours for the pony.

Today I am popping out for a few bits from Aldi, M&S, and having a Morrisons delivery. DS's lunch was sparse this morning, so I need to go and get stuff.

DD has been up all night being sick, so she's off school. She will be fine, it's just a bug.

frazzled74 · 06/05/2016 10:15

It's a lovely morning here too. I've done the school run, taken the dogs for a walk over the hills and am just sitting down with a coffee and toast. I sold a couple more bits on eBay last night so as I'm on a roll ,I may have another look around the house. It's amazing what you have cluttering up the place which others find useful. I've got 2 sacks to take to charity shop later, clothes and books which aren't worth selling even though they are in good condition. I'm after some jeans and some sandals then my summer wardrobe is complete . I might have a rummage in the charity shop first, but will probably end up ordering from next.

Ipsos · 06/05/2016 10:30

That seems like a very sensible way to do it lilac. It must be nice to be getting some sleep, is it?

I've just been cleaning the kitchen, which seemed like a bit of an epic job this morning. It's done now though, so that's good. NSD so far, but Tesco order next.

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 11:21

don't if you have tesco clubcard points you can boost for entry to Legoland

I've been checking out boost for when we go to Scotland in 4 weeks but I can't buy restaurant vouchers with Irish points Sad I don't want to commit to visiting an attraction as we just have three full days over there and there will be campsite facilities and there's an open farm nearby, don't want to structure the holiday too much.

comeonmummy emptying your account day before payday is a great idea
I had been doing coin sweeping earlier in the year, I decided a month ago that there was little point in earning a little bit of interest when I could reduce my debt so gave 30 day notice to withdraw it. €87.66 so €10 paying back littlewoods for a skirt I bought for communion at end of month(€15 balance there now), remainder off my credit cards.

I did a bit of browsing for buying my next car this week, got all excited about it for two days but last night I had an epiphany and decided to stick with the plan of clearing my debt before I buy and aim to have some of it saved before purchasing.

Using ynab has really helped influence my thinking regarding my finances, I was on the right track thanks to being on this thread for about 2.5 years now but it has focused me even more. 2.5 years ago on my return to work I cleared €1524.79 in first 4 months, in first four months of last year €1671.39, and first 4 months of this year €2480.25. This was helped by a tax return but prior to this thread I would have spent that. Ynab tells me everytime I look at it all my negative balances and I have purposely not put my meagre savings on it. I owe €4037.47 and I want to be rid of that before I buy.

I have been putting a bigger amount into joint account for a few months now €50 extra a week, this will be going towards my debt once he starts his new job as he will be earning similar amount to me once more.

This means I will owe just €615 to credit cards & €654 to credit union at start of september. I would hope to pay extra each week but this is manageable.

Sorry for long winded post, it helps me :)

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 11:22

ipsos getting some sleep is bliss
It has been interrupted quite a bit by dd joining me about 4/5am each morning. She has definitely been affected by what dh did to me and she's also worried about a show she's appearing in a few weeks too

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 11:24

My cleaner can't come to me anymore, she's a friend of a friend and had to travel quite a distance so I paid her €45 weekly. I have found an agency and signed up for 2 hours weekly for €26 instead.

Whataboutwhathuh · 06/05/2016 12:43

I miss my cleaner. I wish we could afford to continue. I don't mind doing the kitchen and hoovering and mopping floors but my bathrooms look awful all covered in bits from the cloths. Bah.

needastrongone · 06/05/2016 13:42

The thread works then lila, brill, you are a living example Smile How's things over there with DH, hope you are a bit more settled.

frazzled, I've got a couple of pretty cami style tops from Next, which will look nice with jeans or shorts and were really not expensive.

I adore my cleaner. My old one was the loveliest person ever, but some bits of her cleaning were a bit iffy, and she used way too much bleach but we all loved her, she could chat for ever, even with the DC, they thought she was fab. The new cleaners are astonishingly good, ever light fitting, door, skirting board, like a swarm of ants over the house, then boom, gone within 2 hours.

I feel your pain What about missing your cleaner.

Spendy day today
£11 M&S
£88 Qualified for resident tickets for music festival
£25 Aldi
£110 Morrisons.

I'm fully stocked up, but won't be for long, teenagers.....

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 14:10

I'm only after getting the thread title now BlushBlushBlush

Thanks need
I guess I think about purchases a bit more now because I'll have to own up to you guys here when I make themGrin and if I'm not comfortable with telling you guys well then it's not the right decision for me.
Laska really inspired me with her talk about ynab, I guess I was using some of the principles before but now I'm really putting emphasis on them as I can see progress.

I'm also taking down my credit card limit as I go too. I will leave my tesco limit at €1600 now as when I've cleared it I intend to use it for building up clubcard points by putting all transactions through it but using it like a debit card, pay item then pay credit card etc

I'm very interested in ipsos talk about cleaning with johnsons baby shampoo, I've a serious stash of that as got lots of it as baby presents and it takes forever to wash out of the kids curly heads so I don't use it.

need things are improving slowly, I've been very hurt and finding it very hard to have feelings for him at the moment. He's in a different bedroom but has had a big wake up call because he can see how it's affected the children and me. I've told him that I'm getting domestic violence counselling and that I had considered ending our marriage. But I do think 10 years and 2 children are worth fighting for & if he's willing to put in the work so am I.

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 14:12

what have you a laundry basket in each bathroom?

My cleaner hasn't been in over a month, the living areas are reasonable but my room is a disgrace. Definitely need to tackle it this weekend.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 06/05/2016 14:39

Was just wondering if anyone could give me advice...

My current car, a 15 plate I pay 204.98 a month (12000 settlement). I may be looking to downsize my car and go for maybe a 64 plate.

I've seen one I like for 8.5k. I'm going to see what the dealers can offer me and make a decision. I either use some savings and put the rest onto my 0% credit card and pay off a minimum and snowball each month or I refinance....

8FencingWire · 06/05/2016 14:48

I am sitting in the sun, in a dress, having a coffee before pick up. God I missed the sun.
2 loads of washing done, bread is baking as we speak.

I am making a pasta bake and a cheese strudel for tonight.

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 15:14

Interested in advising you but I don't know what the different plates mean as I'm in ROI.

8 what time is dinner? Just got to see if I can get a flight over!

I'm working until 5.30 then home by 5.50, out the door again by 6.25 so dinner will be whatever I can muster together in that timeframe. The dc will have eaten and dh will be late home so it'll either be taco fries using last of taco mince in fridge or a wrap pizza depending on my mood when I get home.

Jealous of you sitting in the sun I'm looking out the window at it from work

needastrongone · 06/05/2016 15:44

I wouldn't like to advise you on cars Don't, that is DH's forte, it's one of his little joys in life, getting the best price he possibly can from a dealer. He's ruthless, and has far more balls than I would.

Lila That's good, I think! I know there's a lot of LTB on MN, but it's easy to give that advice and forget the emotional investment that goes into building a marriage and a family. I got close to leaving at the very worst of DH's MH issues, or at least I couldn't see how I could stay like this for ever, and that's a bit different I concede. At least if your DH engages, that's positive and a way forward. Flowers

We were supposed to be show jumping tonight, but DD is asleep on the sofa so a nice Friday night in.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 06/05/2016 15:53

I wish I knew someone who had balls ha ha! I guess I just need to grow a pair.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2016 15:58

£3.50 on a tea towel from dd's school with her picture on it.

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 16:02

Is she any bit better need?
I'm still debating if I'll need to be actually at work tomorrow or if I can organise it in advance today. Fingers crossed I don't need to come in.
Have to bring au pair car for nct, as I don't drive it I don't know whether it will pass or fail. It's only 3 years older than mine but a much different car so I hate driving it.

lilacclery · 06/05/2016 16:02

wreck that's fabulous will you frame it?

frazzled74 · 06/05/2016 16:17

Thanks needastrongone, I'm going to sit down tonight with a glass of wine and next online , I've got a discount code somewhere which was sent in the post, hopefully I haven't binned it in my mad de cluttering. I now want a cleaner , which isn't very frugal but would be lovely.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2016 16:19

No, it's got the whole school on it Grin I will keep it though. Ds has done one for pre school too

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/05/2016 16:40

dont You can't refinance a car, the fsa stopped people doing that years ago because the cars owed more than their value.

I'd keep the car. Dh is motor trade, your going to pay a lot to get out of the car this early in the agreement.

CremeEggThief · 06/05/2016 16:45

I still have DS's teatowel from his first primary school. Some parents actually used them as teatowelsShock.

NSD.
