Wreck I need to go from Leicester and will need a return plus a tube journey and travel card was only £6 more than return and I figured the return tube journey would be that.

Unescorted · 16/04/2016 19:47

Also breaking the trip at county borders sometimes helps

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 16/04/2016 19:47

Collie I grew up in Torpoint. What I wouldn't give for a day hunting for cowrie shells on portwrinkle beach

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 19:53

If you're only doing a return tube journey and you use contactless it'll be less than £6.

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 19:54

Have you considered going by coach? National express is only £24 and only thirty mins longer

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/04/2016 20:01

I hadn't considered coach no I will have both boys with me and they travel free on train I get very travel sick as well but manage the train ( I puked on a pedalo before!! )

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 20:06

Eugh I feel you. I feel sick driving sometimes I get awful travel sickness in cars and coaches. I can't really understand why it's so expensive from where you are, Sussex is on the commuter belt so maybe that has something to do with it? Have you tried the ticket splitter on mse?

PurpleRibbons · 16/04/2016 20:30

Pleased the beer recommendation is useful, just having one now (Adnams if anyone is interested!). Doesn't seem like DD is going to sleep tonight Sad
All this talk of horses is really making me want to go riding, it's been too long!

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/04/2016 20:39

babs

eshops.nectar.com/dynamic/business/collect/e-rewards

Don't worry about the business bit, dhs card works on it.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/04/2016 21:14

Wreck I will give that a go if not will just have to pay the money (my sister has paid £39 for 2 adults and 2 children that's a third off with railcard) didn't realise would be so !such for me and not worth getting railcard n paying for ds1 as barely use the train. I may leave ds2 at home with dh as will makes it easier travelling without a pushchair n toddler

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 21:20

I have a railcard but it's not valid on your route (I checked!). I find travelling much earlier now the dc can walk. I hope you find something rail travel is so expensive Hmm

MoneyForNothing · 16/04/2016 21:41

Thanks everyone. Having the job will take the pressure off a bit. Could do with earning more though - couldn't we all!

I keep meaning to look into PPI. I'm not sure if I've ever had it so I'll have to follow the MSE way of applying. Worth a try for the cost of a stamp.

That view is stunning Em. I now want to visit the seaside!

Ememem84 · 16/04/2016 22:52

Lovely isn't it. We walked all the way up to the castle. Stood on the pier and looked out to France. Today you could see the windmills on the French coast. It was that clear. Lovely lovely island.

Dinner out tonight with family. Lovely evening.

Cagliostro · 17/04/2016 00:48

Yay Money well done! :)

I'm intrigued by the coop bank thing. Could get DH to do that (I wouldn't be able to pay in enough).

I'd like to do the erewards thing. I haven't got a current nectar card at the moment.

Spends:

Thursday:
£2.60 bus
£12.25 train (incidentally, since people are talking about thetrainline.com, I've found several times recently that the prices on there are actually more expensive than buying them at the station)
£5.57 snack after the theatre
60p tuck shop

Friday:
£4.70 bus
£2 DCs pocket money
£9.43 coop on medicine/food

Saturday:
£6.40 bus
£1.89 croissants
£1.73 drinks
£5.70 charity shop (9 books and DD's dress)
£10.93 coop - dinner stuff on offer, plus discount (I realise this makes it abundantly clear what company DH is working for now...)
£10.96 took the DCs to mcdonalds. We only have one a month now, and actually didn't get round to it last month, so I was really looking forward to it, but ugggh. Didn't enjoy it at all (apart from the free ice cream which we got on the monopoly sticker thing - we redeemed it and shared it :o)
£8.36 Latin book for DD

And forgot to say, I've promised myself that I WILL phone ACAS next week. I was explaining to another couple of people (including my mum who is absolutely fuming) about the rant I was subjected to on Monday, and it's made me determined not to take it lying down this time. I had a similar (but much smaller/more subtle than this one) incident with the other deputy, and I really regret not doing anything about it.

£32.90 Chinese
£2.23 compare the market.com uk one day policy to qualify for 241 cinema tickets for a year

Ipsos · 17/04/2016 02:54

Wreck thanks for that list. I've taken a note so we can work up to those too. I just realised that all ds's friends will be away or in summer school this summer so I'm planning fun activities ahead of time.

Babs yes we found plain junior scrabble in WHSmiths. Glad to hear you found it on ebay.

Well done for phoning ACAS Cag. That's the spirit! Your other colleagues will thank you if that daft lady is pulled up short.

WreckTangled · 17/04/2016 07:37

Well done Cag you definitely shouldn't have to put up with that.

Dh is at work today. The dc and I are going to the garden centre to look for a birthday present for my dad (dh has given me £20) and I need some rolls for our burgers for dinner but that's it.

Ipsos I'm considering boggle too I love that game Smile

babsmam · 17/04/2016 07:48

Thanks fluff I will look later.
Well done cag on going to say something
Sometimes booking directly through the train company is cheaper too.

Have a kids party today. Nsd planned.

Unescorted · 17/04/2016 07:53

Morning - I have a quiet morning planned. Most likely making up the hoddie I have knitted. The weather is perfect for wearing it - but it looks more like a poncho.

Colliefeatures · 17/04/2016 08:01

Good for you cag! Smile

LSD here. Beach carpark and coffee out. That's all! hopefully

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/04/2016 08:24

newmama Excellent cinema frugalling.

Cag Good. Acas will have seen it all before and know what to do.

Co-op cashback has tracked. I'll pay in £200, then move it to and fro between co-op and the joint account to qualify.

It's sunny so the washing is going out on the line.

Ememem84 · 17/04/2016 08:26

Meeting a friend for coffee and a beach walk this morning. But it should be nsd otherwise.

northender · 17/04/2016 08:32

Thanks for the new thread.
Worked yesterday, so now not back in until Wednesday. Didn't get to plant nursery last weekend so that's on the agenda for today, need to plan the veg beds for the summer.
Ds has been off school for Easter hols this week & has another week to go. Lots of people locally are on cheap holidays, but as dd's school went against the LEA and had different holidays, we can't take advantage. Ds & dh are going to London for a night on Tuesday. All paid/ budgeted for.
Cricket season starts on Wednesday so that's our life for the next 4 months! I need to keep cupboards well stocked and meal plan like crazy as it gets v busy and takeaways become very tempting.

WreckTangled · 17/04/2016 08:59

That's annoying north! I wish dd's school would do stuff like that though.

It's lovely and sunny here today, there was a frost though.
