Oh well done Babs

Colliefeatures · 16/04/2016 12:18

mrscog welcome. We often say "DS needs no more toys!" And then we go and buy him a new toy. Absolutely ridiculous but we're too soft. Blush DH and I are slowly getting better.

We've made loads on eBay over the years! Run out of things to flog now though.

I hate mortgages.

And spent 70p at the beach car park so far

Colliefeatures · 16/04/2016 12:19

PS - DS's favourite toy is a bag for life. Hmm

CremeEggThief · 16/04/2016 12:23

Grin at Collie's DS.

Cagliostro · 16/04/2016 12:59

S'ok Collie my DS spent all day hugging a marrow once. Wouldn't let it go! :o

I went into the charity shop by DD's dancing. Oops. £4 lighter. Blush 4 books and a flamenco dress for DD. Girlie one of the books is all about coins from history, needless to say that's for DD :o

Oh and I'm going back to the charity shop again later as DD's back for her exam! And I got a puzzle book that is one of a series, having looked at it, it's perfect so I'm getting the other ones that were there too. Ahem.

Thanks everyone, popping to Waitrose in a bit for a couple of treat things for tonight - not money saving but it's instead of a take away so half the price of a takeaway. That will be my only spend today though.

No spending planned tomorrow, wohoo!

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 13:40

Cag that's hilarious!

Well March was £137 over budget BlushBlush will have to try and recoup that in April some how.

Cagliostro · 16/04/2016 13:43

Creme interesting about the excessive decluttering! I was sort of diagnosed with OCD a few years ago, never went back as that psychiatrist was a dick. But have since been dxd with ASD anyway and there's a lot of overlap, they are often comorbid IYSWIM. I am the opposite with my tendencies though, I am definitely on the hoarding/accumulating side of it! Despite being pretty germ phobic (especially with food, and anything to do with vomiting) I am really messy as well. Blush

We just had a bit of a pricey day on the town but it was nice and we enjoyed it. Parking cost £6.50 which was a bit of a shock but it was raining and 4 degrees so I was glad not to have a long walk home. We bought junior monopoly and it has been very popular since we got home.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 16/04/2016 14:41

Was about to say the same cag
I have the hoarding/ very hard to part with "useful things" (ie not useful).
Also the awful corrosive thoughts linked to checking and counting. I got round it by telling my brain to stfu, and to live in chaos helps too (simplified! It took years to get round the worst of it) as the sorting job is just too big, it's hard to explain.

I am at that point of the afternoon where I really want to go shopping. Must resist. Will do some knitting.

Newmamatobe · 16/04/2016 15:01

Hello all!

Yesterday £2.45 chip shop
£3.99 saline nose drops for DD
£35.40 next clearance throigh Quidpro for DD 3-6 month clothes, not sure I read the instructions properly as it said "new customers only" and I used an existing account!

I'll get the hang of it eventually ahhhh!

Can I ask, of the 3 apps people seem to have: Quidpro, clicksnap, shopitize and topcashback, how do they all work.

Say, for example I went and spent £50 in Asda today, how do I know which app to claim back etc or do you use multiple apps for one purchase?

Also worked out I can make £690 per year using the Santander 123 account - brilliant!!! I pay two households worth of bills so cash back % there and the 3% interest is better than my current savings account so makes sense to put in the maximum to benefit - great saving!!

Also, I'm going to compare prices for a new energy supplier, which app should I choose for this or is MSE better? Not sure where to start there are loads! I've got all my usage data...

Thanks in advance ;-)))

Whataboutwhathuh · 16/04/2016 15:13

Place marking

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 15:37

Oh actually we didn't pay council tax last month so only over budget but a few pounds!

MoneyForNothing · 16/04/2016 15:57

Wow! I've only been away from the thread for a few days and it fills up!

I have some good news - I had two job interviews this week and I've been offered the first one I went for Smile. It's only 15 hours pw at min wage but it's better than being on JSA. It only took me exactly three weeks from initial online application for JSA to being offered a job! So pleased, as I'll be able to sign off now. Going to sort out the full details early next week and should start the week after next at the latest.

In the meantime I'm still being as frugal as possible as I'm only going to be earning just over £100 per week. Went to Aldi earlier this week and it's soooo much cheaper than other supermarkets! Going to keep going there from now on and only get bits elsewhere that I can't get from there.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

WreckTangled · 16/04/2016 16:01

Brilliant news money congratulations! I think a lot of people only earn minimum wage now it's been put up to £7.20 (me included!)

Unescorted · 16/04/2016 16:09

Money congratualtions on teh new job.
I know what you mean about the thread moving fast. I only get the time to log on at the weekends. I do read through the old one though. Lots of top tips and new people Waves

I have found stashes of bike bit boxes.... I suspect whatever was in them was not cheap. I was wondering why I could smell rubber. New tyres would be the reason.

I have been good in the frugal stakes - I have used the washing line despite it looking as if it was going to rain. 5 loads so far today - towels sheets and bed throws all done. Yesterday I was organised enough to get fakeaway crispy duck from Aldi (it is really good btw) and wine so DD & I are having a cheap night in in front of BGT. The boys are away on their bikes

babsmam · 16/04/2016 16:13

Well done money.

Spendy day £50 eeek

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 16/04/2016 16:25

Well done money that is such fab news! That must be such a relief for you Flowers

unescorted found bike bits? Are they "yours" (found in shed etc??) Bike parts sell exceptionally well on ebay, lots of bike geeks out there!

Unescorted · 16/04/2016 16:33

DH has been buying bits and hiding them around the house so I don't give him the "haven't you got enought bike related crap already" look. This box is in the hall under the clothes set aside for recycling.

needastrongone · 16/04/2016 16:33

Ok Em, you can have Henry, I will stick with Tom thank you.

Welcome Mrs

Well done money on your job offer, that's brilliant news!

We all have to have spendy days every so often babs, it evens out Smile

Mama I've used MSE for energy switches in the past, to good effect. I'm at the stage where I don't think I can pay much less, £104 pm for a large 4 bed house, but I will still switch. Unless of course I somehow mislay 2 teenagers, then it will be half that Smile

Knitting and cag Your thoughts are interesting. I can't cope with clutter and mess, but am not particularly OCD, strange!

Spends-
£35 nails, eyebrows, eyelashes. Nails were minging, and they are sparkly and red.
£75 diesel in horse box.
£25 new gilet, reduced but not strictly needed.

Unescorted · 16/04/2016 16:36

Need I have a couple that need a good home too. When you find the place to put your teens let me know so I can send mine too.....and a dh who thinks he is a teen Grin

needastrongone · 16/04/2016 16:42

Unescorted I ignore most of it, I could spend my life telling them to turn lights off, close doors and unplug chargers, but hey, we would all just get cheesed off with each other. DH is just as bad, so we are in a similar position Grin

Unescorted · 16/04/2016 16:54

True - I just need to look up more & wear shoes.
