Yep i did clues last year and hid the final eggs in the tumble dryer. the last clue was a picture of the tumble dryer cut into jigsaw pieces, this year i think i will just hide them all over the place with no clues it might last longer then.

Ive asked dp to unscrew the necessary bits tonight to sell it, its £199 in currys for the set so im not sure, its a great bit of kit for the right person but i dont have a need for it with being at home so often.

Ememem84 · 09/03/2016 13:10

Poas update. Negative.

Snot update. Positive.

Just sent wedding dress off on its way. £32 at post office. Sad

And a red Thai chicken noodle soup for lunch. So spicy. Hoping it helps the cold.

WreckTangled · 09/03/2016 13:13

Mmm I love Thai.

I'm waiting for my car to be delivered.

Em sorry you have a horrible cold hope it doesn't turn into anything too nasty.

Ds asked for a nap so is in bed Smile

Ipsos · 09/03/2016 13:19

Hello! Just nipping in again between frantic-ness.

I used some of my carefully frugaleered cash today to buy better webcams for our grandparents. I'm hoping that that will improve things for our geographically fragmented family. I managed to run last month under budget, which was really encouraging. :-)

Good luck for dh's interview Fuzz.

I have been working away with ds on the social skills here and we've made up some great games. We are playing games called reading-between-the-lines, am-I-boring-you? and other things like that. Today we have been learning about superstition, which he thinks is hilarious, especially the fact that pigeons also do it.

I hope things carry on well for people there. I'm keeping up my budgeting here and flying the frugaleer flag.

lilacclery · 09/03/2016 13:59

Aww bye bye wedding dress Thanks

fuzzpig · 09/03/2016 14:13

Aw bless you em both for saying goodbye to the dress, and the snot! Ick. Glad you have put your mind at rest re: the POAS.

Kinky hello, I recognise you from various fibro/spoon theory type threads. I'm sorry it's gotten worse, it sucks. I hope they do agree to the reduced hours for you - although it will be a drop in income (which you are already preparing to deal with) I guess it's more likely that you would be able to continue work rather than pushing yourself to do more hours than you were able. Reducing my work hours enabled me to continue working for another 3 years so it was totally worth it for me, it was only because some virus triggered a further deterioration in my health that has meant I'm giving up now (well waiting for redeployment to a desk role technically but not sure if that'll happen). In my case it was that I'd tried a phased return a couple of times but then struggled going back to FT, so they agreed with Occ Health to drop me down to 16hrs. I then found even that was too much (as I was doing 2 or 3 consecutive days every week) so I dropped one shift and they permanently changed my contract to 12hrs, which also meant they could officially offer some of my hours to another PT colleague rather than getting relief staff to cover.

fuzzpig · 09/03/2016 14:32

Wreck we did an egg hunt last year. It was just after the DCs had come out of school and DD was still feeling a bit wobbly about it, so the Easter Bunny left a note saying how well they were doing. Each clue had different puzzles, there were codes, paper jigsaws, quiz questions, maths etc to help them find the next clue. Went down really well! And it was great fun to write. [geek]

Must start planning this year's. Should probably have a clue written in hieroglyphs :o

Afternoon all!

Been a strange week here and a lot of sickness in the house (kids).

Just back from the dentist, £61 lighter (could have been worse), and fill up of petrol plus bread / milk £54.

Applied for a few jobs yesterday which would be a huge (HUGE) drop in income but a big increase in happiness - fingers crossed. Would be enough to top DHs wage up to comfortable levels. Enough is as good as a feast they say! In the meantime I will keep saying up the emergency fund. Stuck at 41% of the way there at the min.

DH voluntarily took his own lunch to save money today I was impressed :)

Trying to get on with a few jobs here today, fridge is defrosting at the min to see if we can make it survive a little longer - if it isn't performing well post defrost we may have to bite the bullet and get a new one. Need some groceries really but I'll leave that until the fridge is back on - probably tomorrow.

Welcome Kinky and any other new folk / returners :)

Girlie the outlays seem huge when you are buying a place but it will all be worth it in the end. I could have cried the day we sent over our deposit!

Em sorry you are snotty, there is so much fru flu going around at the min!

Super I think we are going to try for an easter egg hunt this year I like the jigsaw idea :D

That curry looks awesome, I think we might make a thai curry for tea seeing as I'm here today.

Kids are asleep at the min. Sat here with a cuppa but what I really should be doing is cleaning the cars.... cant really be bothered but I know I'll thank myself later if I do. Off I go...

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/03/2016 14:50

Blue I thought today that when the deposit money goes I will cry!! That will literally be my entire life savings gone in one foul swoop Shock will be glad when this bit is over and can start planning the actual move. Good luck with the jobs, I love 'enough is as good as a feast' will keep that one! There is definitely more to life than money and getting the work/ family life balance right is so important.

Em sorry to hear the snot is worse, your BFP will come when you are least expecting it I am sure!

Have just given the solicitor £400 I feel sick!

needastrongone · 09/03/2016 15:23

Told you girlie, money just leaks from every orifice when you are buying a house, but I promise it will be worth it.

Em, hope you feel better soon, and the other result you were ok with.

Lila Like the look of the curry.

Spends today were £20 in M&S, none of it really necessary but DS has given up chocolate and biscuits for lent and is eating tons of nuts etc. They were having a clear out at M&S, with loads of reduced tins of cashews.

The weather is dreadful and I was soaked on my dog walk.

Made another £25 at least on Ebay.

Chilli with nachos for tea as I have to drop DD off, pick DS up and have only just got in from work.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/03/2016 16:11

Just had it confirmed that my boy cat is diabetic Sad we seriously have no luck with our cats! He is only 6yo, got to take him back to the vets tomorrow for more tests - ugh.

fuzzpig · 09/03/2016 16:27

Oh no Girlie :( poor puss.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2016 16:31

Poor cat, have you got insurance?.

blueteapot · 09/03/2016 16:34

Girlie it hurts but it is so worth it in the end!

God now I really want chilli with nachos - thanks need! Not having that or curry in the end - sausages needed using up so it's sausages in onion gravy, roasted slightly past it veg and spuds. DS and I just made a quick chocolate cake which will jazz things up slightly :) definitely little things like that are what life is about.

Cars washed but the heavens opened so I also got thoroughly soaked, so much for straightening my hair this morning lol I now look like a scarecrow again.

Need to dig out DDs 18-24 month stuff (presents and hand me downs) and get it all sorted as shes suddenly gotten all big and grown up on me!

WreckTangled · 09/03/2016 16:36

Oh no girlie he has my sympathies!

We're having bolognese for dinner which I got out of the freezer.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/03/2016 16:36

Yes have insurance, will contact them tomorrow once got the results from the other tests they want to run. Gutted tbh, he is meant to be the healthy cat! The insurance only covers one condition per year though and this will be life long now I guess. Rubbish Sad

CremeEggThief · 09/03/2016 17:18

That is rubbish, GirlieSad

Will catch up properly once I'm home. But yes. Am ok with the result.

Am currently sat in a queue on floor 12 of the car park. Cars are queuing to get out. It's going to take ages.

AdoraBell · 09/03/2016 17:31

The blue £1.99 Rimmel from last week Grin

Keep getting the message is invalid when I try to post, hope this works.

Frugaleers March On!
Pointlessfan · 09/03/2016 17:53

Poor girliecat.
Hope you feel better soon Em.
Blue I took a huge pay cut last year and I've honestly never been happier, my job was so stressful I hadn't actually realised how badly it was affecting me until I stopped doing it if that makes sense? Even DH is happier because of it!
NSD for me but DH got his hair cut.

Colliefeatures · 09/03/2016 18:15

Poor girlie boy cat :(

We spent £3 in The Range and did our weekly shop for £43 in Sainsburys online.

The damage from the wind has been a bit scary locally.

My broadband aim is to reduce our monthly direct debit by £10. And to get some cashback with the new deal. Will investigate later. Plus Net looks like the best one here.

Adora - lovely colour!

Ememem84 · 09/03/2016 18:37

Finally home. Took over an hour to drive 3k. Ffs

lilac curry looked awesome! Good job!

fuzz love the pigeons. So clever dirty flappy bastards

ipsos I know you were reading about superstition. Not pigeons. But this always makes me giggle. Pigeon choosing his jam.

blue I took a pay cut when I left my old job. The high wages stressful job and long hours were just not worth it. I'm happy now. dh is happy now I'm not so stressed. It was the right move

Hi kinky welcome back, sounds like you have lots of plans.
Nice colour adora.
Get well soon em. I hate queuing out of carpark. The traffic has been hideous today.
Blue good luck with the job. It's not always about the money.
Nsd today.
