Everyone welcome.

Lsd here. I've got a hospital appt so min £1.60 parking. Think I'll just get the 1 hour and if they're running late I can go and add on. Usually pretty good though. I'm going to pop into halfords too thanks fluffy.

Today's job is car insurance. Even with the £30 cancellation fee (it has automatically renewed during break-up hell) I should be on to save £100.

waitaminutenow · 15/07/2015 08:09

In regards to birthday cards. If anyone has a card factory in their town/near them. They do fab deals like 10 for a £1 or 7 for a £1 very handy for a family with lots of birthdays/kids being invited to parties.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/07/2015 08:19

I think even after renewal you've got 14-15 days to cancel and be refunded. As long as you haven't made a claim in that time. saynoto0870 is a good website for free telephone numbers when ringing these companies.

avocado I would find a card to transfer the debt to, fill it all out online and get him to authorise it at the point where he has to give permission for it to go ahead. He's not going to do it by himself.

spotty if you are near a cafe nero today you can get a free coffee too Grin & a bag of maynards sour patch sweets at wh smith.

ipsos brilliant, now you can have none flaky pans.

I gave some meter readings to sainsburys energy (who are really british gas ) and I'm not £90 in debit now but £60 in credit. It makes no sense. I'm going to ring and ask for the credit on the electric part to be paid back and put it towards the new bra I need.

I agree with this too avocado

Fluffy I hope that you actually tell them exactly why you want the money back.

Oh. My God. Just saved £337 on my car tax.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2015 09:34

Ive tried and tried but cannot beat my car insurance renewal. Is it worth phoning them up to see if they'll reduce it?

Myturnnow4 · 15/07/2015 09:40

Have you done what moneysavingexpert.com suggest? Perhaps you're one of those who just happen to be on the lowest offer?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2015 09:44

I've done everything Myturn Smile

Myturnnow4 · 15/07/2015 09:55

You are one of the lucky few blessed with automatic lowest cover!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2015 10:03

I can't understand whyGrin we've had a claim in the last three years and I have a three year restricted license Confused

avocadotoast · 15/07/2015 10:05

collie ours is from IKEA - it doesn't look like they sell it any more but it is wonderful. We've had it 3 years now and I think they give a 25 year guarantee. I don't know how much it was though (gift from PIL when we moved into our first house).

Not silly question, good question - I have no idea! Definitely check the measurements. I know our bedding sometimes fits weirdly on the mattress so could be slightly different!

Good news ipsos Smile

Frugal wins:

Someone gave me their parking ticket at the hospital
Free screen wash

Frugal fail
£5 in halfords on a kite and rocket ball (good for summer holidays)
£? The macdonalds I'm about to buy Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2015 12:59

Oh collie I feel the same sometimes. We have a plan though and that's made me feel better about our current situation. Also the reason you have an overdraft, I assume, is for when things like this happened. How about a month of cheap shopping to help plus anything you can sell on eBay/fb?

We have a loan of £175 repayment each month. Our last payment is October and I can't wait! June was really expensive for us too, I keep hoping this month will be better but it's soon the summer holidays Hmm
